This is the first thing I’ve liked of hers, in forever. She’s worn me down. It may be utter shit, I don’t know. Also, I’ll whatever she’s having, because that is one mellow chic. I need a buzz like that.

      • Gatto Nero

She does look — serene, doesn’t she.

        • Trent

Honestly, maybe I shouldn’t have had that cocktail at lunch because I didn’t recognize her at all here. I mean, I could have walked up to this premiere and not even realized that was Emma Stone. Is it the clip-on bangs? Her face looks rounder and sorta Kate Upton-ish. I guess it’s just me…

        • FridaStaire

Yes – so good I thought she was someone else!

    • HomeOfficeGirl

Wow – that’s a change! I really like this! I don’t know if I’ll love the hair and makeup tomorrow, but for now, it’s a fun change. I think they did the right thing to keep the styling paired way down (non-existent) and just let the dress be.

    • Gatto Nero

Simple and elegant. The gown is kind of breezy, so I think the styling works, too.

    • burrito jones

This is the best a Prada has looked on the red carpet in a long time. They’ve had a lot of misses recently (including Lupita’s Oscar gown in this because it was in no way recognizably Prada. Could have been any designer)

    • RussellH88

If the dress were actually in a color, I think this would have been a WERQ (Despite the iffy hair and the MirandaSings lipstick)

But as it is, this is really Lupita’s dress.

      • Coleen

        I don’t even think it’s Lupita’s dress. It’s no one’s dress.

        • RussellH88

I think it would pop a lot more on someone with darker skin. On Emma Stone is blends too much into her skin tone to the point where you almost can’t tell that there are cut-outs on the sides.

          • Jennifer L.

I know – I kept staring at that triangle trying to figure out if it was the dress or not. Although I now have to give her skin/skin gurus major props.

      • Let it out

Dunno, I don’t really love Lupita in Prada – it’s a bit twee for her. Meanwhile, I think Emma is rocking this dress.

      • Julie

Yeah, it weirdly matches her skin tone.

      • http://www.ellenciompi.com/ NurseEllen

My first thought was, pack up this dress and ship it directly to Taylor Swift.

      • AnaRoW

She actually called it her “Lupita dress” so you’re not far off.

    • thecitysleeps

This dress is beautiful and it looks ethereal on her! Don’t quite adore the lipstick colour but I’ll take it. She needs a bit of a fringe trim there! The shoes look pretty too from what I can see.

    • Chuck Barthelme

I actually like the dress, but not the color. Too close to her skin tone. If it were a yellow maybe, or just another color. Also, not loving the lip color or the hair really. This could work for her though. It’s not all that expected from her, but she’s working it.

    • kayleymaybe

This would have been gorgeous in a color. And with different hair.

    • Glam Dixie

I really like the dress on her, but boy do you need perfect posture in it. Hate the bangs, they look clip on and I think the dress would be better in a color because she’s so pale. But overall, I like this a lot, especially compared to some of her recent get ups.

    • Lolo Andre

This dress is screaming Cate Blanchett

    • MilaXX

It’s pretty but I think the hair w/ the bangs is too much. A cleaner look, maybe a low pony would have been better.

      • decormaven

Yes, the hair distracts here for me. I hope this is the last of the poledance- it’s been a punisher.

    • EEKstl

It’s a beautiful dress and she actually looks lovely (love the hair too), but Lupita would make this sing.

    • crash1212

I love this dress and I love it on her. The hair is a prefect counterpoint to the dress and her makeup is perfection. Love.

    • Grumpy Girl

The dress is lovely. I agree with the folks who’ve recommended it be more of a color for her, though. The hair/makeup/stance just make me think cheesy prom portrait from 20+ years ago, though.

    • FibonacciSequins

Girlfriend looks tired, albeit beautiful. Not sure about the hair. The dress would look even better on her if it were a more vibrant shade and contrasted with her skin color more.

    • 25or6to4

I keep staring at the area below armits, attempting to determine whether or not there is any fabric there. There is, right? Anyway, I don’t really like most of the elements in this look (the ombré ends + long, blunt bangs = not a flattering style), but it’s fine overall.

      • @Biting Panda

Also staring….I think no, no there isn’t fabric. It’s all about the angle from which you look.

        • 25or6to4

Ah, yes. No fabric. You can see where the edge of the dress bends away from her torso in the third image down (on the left). Tricky, tricky!

      • GeoDiva

Glad I’m not the only one. I think it has fabric, but then the next picture it seems like its open and then it reverses on the following. If it is open, then the dress needs to be a different color.

    • http://armchairauthor.wordpress.com/ LesYeuxHiboux

Did she lose a bet with Andrew Garfield? “And if I win, you have to wear a dress that makes you look completely naked save for the world’s twee-est S&M halter, and let me do your hair.”

      • demidaemon

Pretty much the only reasoning I can see for wearing this non-dress with horrible hair.

    • stubbornthoughts

I love this. It’s not perfect, but it’s pleasantly interesting and pretty. I wish I could know what TLO thinks of it. It’s too interesting of a design to just be whiteboarded!

      • ktr33

AGREE! I kind of hate whiteboard for that reason! Tell me what to think, TLo!

    • Ron Labhart

Meh. Hate the hair. HATE. I do kind of like the sleek lines of the dress, but it would be so much better in a color. Almost any color other than “Emma Stone’s skin.”

      • Nancer

I’ve never understood why bangs are cut to hang down into the eyes. I would spend all of my time pushing them back, kind of defeating the purpose…

    • http://www.youtube.com/user/TheOctocornNetwork International Model

Emma Stone would make a killer Deborah Harry.

      • Nancer

Wow, you’re right! I didn’t see that before, but that’s spot on!

    • KendraMR

I love the silhouette, but it would be stunning if it was an actual color and not a flesh tone.

    • GillianHolroyd

I love this dress, simple and striking, and I’d love to see it on different women in different colors, just because. I think the bangs are overwhelming her face; she’s looking a bit generic here.

    • Jessica Freeman

This has been the worst pole dance ever.

    • jonnyf8

I’m getting Michelle Pfeiffer’s secret daughter here.

    • uprightcitizen

Do you think she sent them a swatch of her skin, so they got the fabric color just right?

    • http://sleepingfoxstitchery.weebly.com CLoverleaf

That hair makes her look like Taylor Swift.

    • Nakkstar

      Love It!!!
The skin tone IS the magic of the dress.

      • WaterGhost

Yes, it’s a subtle effect, but it makes her skin look iridescent. I think they could even have gone a shade or two paler with the dress.

    • Joanna

The dress is great, but the makeup and hair folks just about destroyed everything that makes her Emma Stone. The bangs overwhelm her eyes, the makeup ages her, the hair color is the worst of all her hair colors of the past two years combined.

    • Richard Harper

I really like the gown for her, and the makeup. Somewhat ambivalent about the hair.

    • marlie

I really like her hair when I saw pictures of it yesterday, but I’m a little uncertain this time. The dress is pretty, and I like her makeup. The black details save the dress from being too close to her skin tone and washing her out, though the bodice seems a skosh too big. Overall, though, I really like this.

    • TropiCarla

      I can dig it.

    • barbarienne

I want to hate it for being too close to her skin color, and for the open sides, but damn it looks fantastic on her. Those spiky outlines elevate this dress and make it perfect for her.

Proving that any hateable fashion trope can be wonderful when done exactly right on the right person.

Let us not speak of the hair and makeup.

    • Danielle

She called it her Lupita dress, and I absolutely agree. I want to be Lupita too, Ems.

    • littlestars

Beauty! This is making me want to chop all my hair off.

    • sagecreek

Oh, I sure wish that dress had some color to it.

    • Monabel

Minority view: sometimes the dress in skin color looks good to me. This is one of those times. Cut out on the side is neither here nor there.

    • Cheryl

I really like this on her. Not sure about that lipstick colour, but I’m beginning to think I don’t like anybodies lipstick, except Lupita.

    • Lindsay Donohue

WHY whiteboard the best thing she’s worn this whole press tour?! I would call this a werq in a heartbeat. Love the relaxed hair with the glam gown. You can tell she feels comfortable in this. I hope she continues this way with her style trajectory.

    • kmk05

The hair is a yes, that dress is a YES! But I have so much hate for the makeup, which looks like she slept in it after 12 hours of hardcore partying that I can sign off on it.

Also, please MUAs, why the overdrawn lips? It’s never a good look! No one wants to look like they have herpes.

    • Imasewsure

I kind of dig this look but again it proves our uncles’ point that Ms Em has no particular personal RC style… her stylist clearly just throws stuff at the RC wall to see what sticks

    • Captain_Awkward

That Cards Against Humanity classic: “tasteful sideboob.” Love the dress on her, actually, but the hair looks just like mine right now and people I have not brushed it since yesterday.

    • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

It’s a gorgeous dress and she’s rocking it, but that color takes it straight to Toga party for me.

    • Jacqueline Wessel

The fact that the dress matches her skin color so well is what makes this really work for me. I like her hair, but the bangs are too long and/or thick. Really hate the way the lipstick is applied so it’s hard to judge the color.

    • Tracy_Flick

Her dress needs color and her hair looks awful.

    • d4divine

I just realized why she looks so wrong in the red carpet. It’s because she looks like she’s playing a role…she refuses to reveal even a hint of her actual self. She’s a girl playing dress up. In another note, what’s up with that Florence Welch style/ombre hair situation?

    • TwiddlyStun

I swear this look is better than 90% of what I see on her and it’s because the hair looks “on purpose.” That’s not saying I love the style, but at least it IS a style and not something she worked on behind her own head in the car. When her hair is pulled together she can carry off much more extreme styles, imho.

    • ThaliaMenninger

Those bangs are not her friend. In other news, she looks like Florence Welch and Jaime Pressly mixed their DNA in a petrie dish. And that is just alarming.

    • Ginmaru

I thought this was Carly Rae Jepsen at first.

Pretty dress but are those pointy studs on the trim? Ouch! I would have already impaled my arm before getting out of the limo.

    • Betsy

      Meh

    • Kate Andrews

Pretty, but the nipple darts are so irritating. I do like the ombre hair!

    • alyce1213

I love the dress, it’s elegant, but her hair isn’t good at all.

    • MartyBellerMask

Super, super pretty. Almost didn’t notice the cut-outs because that is a seriously skin-colored dress.

    • ashtangajunkie

I think the dress is lovely, but her head! Oy.

    • Guest

      Pretty dress. Poodle head.

    • seventeenwest

Pretty dress, but her hair looks like cocker spaniel ears to me.

    • http://www.readbarbara.com/ ReadBarbara

She looks fabulous in that dress. But not so much wearing a hairstyle Michelle Pfeiffer rejected decades ago.

    • ktr33

The dress is a beaut, but not sure if it’s right for her. And I can’t tell if I’m seeing sideboob or not. Are those panels or cutouts under her arms? or a latter-day “illusion”? It’s all a little monochromatic. Better on a brunette? Like a 25-year-old Winona?

    • Anton

Is it just me, or does she look like Octavia Spencer? The hair and the facial expression…

    • greymain

      FAB-U-LOUS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • OffToSeeHim

I think this is a beautiful look for her!

    • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

Ye gods, what awful hair. And the dress is too pale, but I like the shape.

    • LeelaST

Horrendous on all counts – hair, makeup, color, side-boob.

    • Granny panties

I love this. Cool and elegant. Great bangs, I would prefer one colour of hair, but she looks gorgeous. Want that lipstick!!!!

    • nannypoo

Sort of Grecian. I think I don’t like it. This is the one time I hope there is illusion netting.

    • rosie5215

I am irrationally angry that her dress probably costs more than my car and yet her hair looks like that first wash and air dry after a new haircut. BOO-URNS.

    • Jacob Bowen

I feel like the top needs to move up an inch, but I LOVE this!

    • LadyVimes

I like this, and I love the new hair. I was getting bored, and this is a nice way for her to keep this (ENDLESS) pole dance somewhat fresh.

    • Judih1

She looks like Taylor Swift – and that is NOT a complement

    • Dagney

Gwynth Paltrow is all, “bitch stole my dress!”

    • cocohall

She looks ethereal. Love it. I guess she planned to save the best look for NYC, because this is the first time she’s looked like a real star during this whole interminable Spidey Man pole dance. We all love a big finish! I see the back of her publicist heading for the bar . . . . . (I am assuming this is the end? Please, let it be the end.)

    • Carly Clement

Perfection in an outfit!!! From the top of the hair to the tip of her toes! STUNNING!

    • quiltrx

Interesting gown, but I think I’d like it a lot better if it weren’t nearly her skin color.
And I do NOT think the heavy bangs are her friend. First time I’m seeing the hair–will be interesting to see how it goes.

    • demidaemon

For a second there, I though she was only wearing oddly placed strings of embellishment. In other words, this is an awful, bland-ass stupid dress. Her hair also looks distinctly like a helmet. HATE.

    • LambeeBaby

I like the fact that she changed up her look. I’m undecided about the hair, but the dress is bad. The color washes her out badly.

    • kategs

I have no real clue as to why but I love this!

    • Lilyana_F

I really love her hair like that, the dress is interesting and the shape is flattering on her, I just wish it was in a vibrant color.

    • Jeannie Shmina Greenwald

      Girl, those aren’t your bangs.
