Did Elizabeth Moss and Carla Gugino have an improbable love child in the time traveling past?

      • Tara

I am still not convinced this isn’t Carla Gugino.

    • lecoffeeaddict

definitely thought that clutch was some kind of silver fish carcas at first. oops.

But those shoes, man. I don’t know about that.

    • CMCH

On the one hand, she looks great in that suit (though, yes, the shoes are questionable at best); on the other hand, her propensity to pose for pics with her face tilted down like Lady Grantham on overdrive makes her look both older (emphasizing wrinkles that probably aren’t there if she’s looking straight on) and less attractive than she actually is.

      • Imasewsure

I’m sure her natural hair color (and “natural” make up styles) are probably also a helluva lot more flattering and less aging than this Lady G harshness as well.

      • Wendi126

She has acted and posed in pics with her face tilted downward way before DA. Lady Grantham tilts down cause Elizabeth does. I remember her in Ordinary People and Once Upon a time in America from the early 80’s and yup..down and tilt.

        • http://weirdinedgewise.blogspot.com ONEWEIRDWORD

I’m thinking she and Timothy Hutton need a gig together.

        • cocohall

Wasn’t this pose perfected by Princess Di? She did that whole tilt head down and and look up thing too.

      • formerlyAnon

I figure that at one time the downward tilt worked for her and may have been quite flattering. No actor repeats a pose like that unintentionally. But the planes of one’s face change with age, not to mention wrinkles and the various Things Skin Does. Time to re-evaluate.

        • CakesOnAPlane

dont get me wrong I think its refreshing to see wrinkles on ladystars but why does she always look like she’s pitying me?

      • MmmmmmmmK

My guess is that she’s been posing that way since the age of 2. “Where did you get those BIG blue eyes, Elizabeth? Did you STEAL them from your mommy?” (giggling all around)

    • marlie

You know… I like this. It’s far from a perfect look, but it mostly works.

I like the suit, although the fit is a little wonky. I think it’s something that could have been straightened out when she got out of the car, though. I sort of love the shoes, but I wish they weren’t navy. Way to bring the color and visual interest with the necklace. Her makeup, for the most part, is really good. Downplayed, but well done. As for the hair… Lady Cora doesn’t need Downton Abbey-era hair ALL of the time. And the crazy eye are weirding me out.

      • 3boysful

I don’t like the shoes themselves, but they do kick up a fairly plain ensemble without pulling too much focus. They counterbalance the bright necklace to me.

    • poorellensmith

From the neck up: total serial killer. From the neck to the ankles: nicely deployment of lady pants. From the ankles down: man, I just don’t know about those shoes…

    • imspinningaround

I’ve been obsessed with those Nicholas Kirkwood shoes since they debuted like three seasons ago. They could almost go with the suit if it wasn’t so schlumpy looking. Nothing goes here. The hair is wrong for the suit, which is wrong for the jewels, which don’t go with the clutch.

      • decormaven

Yes, these are some separate pieces that have been pulled together, and as a unit, they’re not working.

      • Allison Angier

What I love about those shoes? They look like they are actually safe to wear. In addition to being beautifully designed, and flattering to anyfeet, they hug their wearer from ankle to toe. Sexy and practical -ish. Very appealing.

        • Mary Sinning Poole

I like those shoes, too. Not with everything else she’s wearing, but just as a pair of shoes, I would love to own them.

    • Zeee

LOVE the shoes. Love love love!

      • VicD

You are not alone. I also love the shoes. I love the whole thing.

        • Stefanie Argudo Mackenzie

          Love love love the shoes…

      • Sunraya

Glad I’m not the only one! I’d steal them right off her feet! Lol!

      • Vanessa Reyes

        Love the shoes too..

    • nannypoo

Does she never see a picture of herself? Look up! And wipe that smarmy grin off your face!

    • http://batman-news.com boweryboy

Lizzy, hunty, hat’s not the right way to do ladypants. See: Watson, Emma.

    • schadenfreudelicious

      always with the crazy eyes…

    • KinoEye

It’s apparently topsy turvy day, because I find myself liking all kinds of things I wouldn’t normally like. Including those painful-looking shoes. It’s a nice ladypant look, though I would have gone for a different jacket.

    • Qitkat

Those are incredible shoes. If she had only dressed in steampunk.

      • Imasewsure

Agreed… I think those shoes were meant for our beloved Helena Bonham Carter and one of her Vivian Westwood Victorian/Steampunk funky ensembles.

    • B_C_J

I really like this suit especially because it’s black & understated & therefore allows that incredible necklace & those fabulous shoes to stand out. I am Not crazy about her hair at all.

      • Jacqueline Wessel

Agree with you on all counts.

    • KT

Her face is scaring me. Please stop looking at me like that, Elizabeth. I don’t like you in that way.

    • Jessica Freeman

      Well…um, er. I am. Speechless.

    • Pennymac

Quick, somebody pass me the Holy Water. That stare is beyond “crazy eyes”, I think we made need a person of the cloth………

    • Trickytrisha

I did get a bit of a giggle out of the close up… that’s exactly how she looks on Downton Abbey when she’s smiling at someone, just not quite so “in your face.”

    • greymain

      another lip color…PLEASE!

    • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

Another of the great film beauties of my generation! Great suit and necklace. Horrid hairstyle, unflattering facial shots (nasty paps) and Oh, girl! Your. Poor. Feet. Burn those things and slip on a pair of good black Louboutins immediately.

      • marlie

The unflattering photos aren’t because overzealous paparazzi caught her at an unfortunate time. She stood and POSED like that. It’s all on her.

    • formerlyAnon

The necklace, jacket and shoes are all great. The pants are o.k. The ensemble is teetering on the edge of “most of these things do not go with each other” territory. The shoes seem to be the wrong note, but I think with better trousers or the right skirt they might have worked.

She is also much more attractive than she’s showing in those photos. Time for her to go back to “Working Actor 101″ and spend some time with her last 30 public appearance images, a digital camera and a mirror to figure out what works for her in what settings right now. And if she figures it warrants the money, she can hire someone to simulate the lighting in a variety of settings and bring in a makeup artist for a little trial and error.

    • http://www.katidom.com/ Kati B

Are those two different blacks on the jacket and pants? I’m all for separates on the RC, if they work together. I like the shoes.

      • formerlyAnon

I couldn’t say for sure earlier, but I’m on my “good” monitor now and they are definitely reading as very different blacks.

    • LaSylphide

Liked it until I saw the shoes; they’re throwing the whole thing off. Love the necklace, though.

      • Catsss

I also do not like the shoes. We seem to be in the minority.

    • conniemd

The best necklace I’ve seen on a lady star in ages. I want it. I’m not the kind of bitter kitten to cut her for it, but I’d definitely rip it off her neck.

    • Mothra

I like the jacket, the necklace and the shoes, but those pants look like they came from J Jill. Or Gap. Also, that lip color makes her teeth look scary yellow.

    • Melissa Bumbs Grant

Brava to a lady star who lets her face do what faces do. Age

    • beebee10

Awesome! She’s serving some fierce face and feet. I think those shoes are what she’s smiling about.

    • Sunraya

She’s got a crazy face on, but like her clothes and LOVE those shoes!

    • what not

      Scroll-down LOVE. Ah, those shoes.

    • crash1212

Love the outfit. LOVE the shoes. Love the “crazy eyes”. Nicely done Lady Grantham.

      • Shawn EH

Not that I know from Lady Shoes, but those look like they might even be somewhat comfortable as well as stylish. Lots of support in the way the sides lace down the middle, and that sturdy heel.

    • Carly Clement

I WANT THOSE SHOES!!!! So amazing!

    • Skippymom1

I must see 237 teeth whitening toothpaste commercials a day. Does she not realize that these products exist? Or is she completely embracing her role as a turn of the century British citizen? Forget the eyes – for an actress, those teeth are scary.

    • MilaXX

I like the look but can someone please help her learn to pose? That look down, eyes up head tilt thing she does make her look all kinds of serial killer crazy.

    • ‘Becca’lise Deveaux

Can’t look at her without hearing her crazy Downton Abbey voice.

      • PeaceBang

I’ve been working so hard on an impersonation and I almost have it down.

    • mjmiller77

ADORE the shoes – wish I could wear ’em! I think the shoes and that amazing necklace bring some needed pizazz to a nice but boring suit. Trying to figure out what’s up with the front of that jacket, looks all twisted or gaping or weird.

    • altalinda

      Chin up, dear.

    • somebody blonde

    • Nancer

      Those shoes are awesome!

    • SierraDelta

She does not have happy feet.

    • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

Rock that lady tuxedo, Lady Crazy Cora Eyes! :)

    • Lizabits

Hey mother was my English teacher in high school, we went to the same school, yes, she’s always posed like that, yes the hair color is very close to her original color.

    • Nicole

      She’s flirting with us!

    • nycfan

She went grandma up top and pazow on the crazy shoes. OK then. But she looks like she is feeling it, whatever the heck the “it” is with this get up.

    • Gatto Nero

Is that a suit? The jacket and pants don’t seem to match.
      She looks happy, though.

“Downton Abbey’” actress Elizabeth McGovern attends the preview of
The Glamour of Italian Fashion exhibition at Victoria & Albert
Museum in London in a POORLY tailored black suit and OVERWROUGHT Nicholas Kirkwood sandals ETC

    • BayTampaBay

I think she dresses too old. This woman is younger than Madonna.

    • lobsterlen

Those shoes are gorgeous ….Its been a very long time since I wanted shoes featured on the red carpet.

    • http://www.bertkeeter.com Bert Keeter

LUV the Bulgari. Now if only she could ACT!

    • Janet B

Nice look, now chin up and straighten out your clothes.

      • Shawn EH

I know, that ingratiating smile isn’t necessary! You’re Lady Grantham, dammit! Lady Mary must have gotten it from somewhere, no?

    • suzq

How come no one attending The Glamour of Italian Fashion exhibition looked particularly glamorous? Her shoes are the only thing I do like!

    • Kelly

Even though as a child of the 70s, I automatically think “nerd flood-water pants” every time I see trousers this short (it’s a hard length to make chic, imo), I think she’s got all the pieces of a good look here. But. . the hair looks like bed hair (and not in a sexy way, but in the “I just this second staggered out from under the duvet, what time is it, where’s the loo?” way. Plus, I wish she would cultivate a different facial expression for public appearances. She uses this sappy/sentimental smirk a lot, and it makes her look, I dunno, like an overly-fond mother or grandma beaming at kiddie antics that only a relative could love.

    • Sunshine16

Give the ladypants some love, boys! Maybe the shoes canceled out that atta girl…

    • MannahattaMamma

that necklaces is amazing. it’s amazingness cancels out the truly gawdawful shoes

    • Kristobel

She has a serious case of Crazy Face. But I like the lady pant ensemble. Just need to work on her facial expressions. More “You want to be me” and less “I’m going to kill you slowly.”

    • lalahartma

      Yes, the shoes are scary.

    • julnyes

Love everything from the neck down. She needs to stop deploying that facial expression.

    • MichelleRafter

I love the shoes with that understated suit. However, this woman has exactly one smile. She needs to expand her repertoire.

    • ellatheingenue

that face she makes is truly horrifying

    • kategs

Every time the spousal unit and I see her we turn to each other and do that “look”. She is so lovely, why does she always revert to that?

    • antonialee

Why does she always have crazy eyes?

    • fooepi

She must have been traumatized by a double chin photo a long time ago.

Also. I’m not liking the hair.

    • Michelle Gennari

      Weird hair hat.

    • dancinfool

      J’adore the shoes!

    • French_Swede

Okay, I figured it out. Elizabeth McGovern, Princess Diana and I were all born in 1961. Princess Diana made the *drop chin, look-up eyes* in almost every photograph. So I think Elizabeth McGovern is still trying to work that, but quite unsuccessfully.
