    Finally, something youthful!

    • misstressofsylar

I was waiting for a shot of her wearing them sunnies. As the Fug Girls go, sunglasses make everyone look better.

  • thecitysleeps

I need this whole outfit right now. So summery, so simple, so comfortable and pretty. Perfection to be honest.

    • jspark

I like it too, but I feel like on most women this would just look boring.

  • Gigi76

I love this look on her. I think it’s very appropriate for the beach setting and I find these fuller skirts more flattering on her since she has a slimmer figure. Very pretty. And as always, I have extreme hair envy.

  • Ashleigh

Look at that boys calves!! πŸ™‚

  • OMG this outfit. I want this entire outfit. It’s got a summery hippie vibe without looking overdone.

  • Fyolette

the dress is perfection, the hair is to die for, the wedges I could take or leave. I know she insists on it, but the eyeliner overload is particularly jarring with such a fresh look.

  • Meg

I love this look on her! But if she would just go lighter on the eyeliner on her lower lashline I would be so happy. It makes her eyes look small.

    • DaringMiss

I am with you about the eye liner. She uses nearly the same makeup for every look. I wish she would try a makeup stylist to try some new looks on her because I worry that the black eyeliner thing will look dreadful 10 years from now.

      • ikillplants

I think she could rock a thicker liquid eyeliner on her top lashes and skip lining the lower lashline entirely. A bit of the problem also comes from her penchant for darker eyeshadows. Girl, embrace sheer neutral bronzes! They do amazing things for opening up one’s eyes.

        • 4JJ

Her hair is also lighter than in the past, which makes the dark, heavy eye makeup stand out more. Well, that and wearing white eyelet on the beach, so the makeup looks even odder.

      • 4JJ

It isn’t looking stellar on her now.

    • Monabel

      SJP for a horrifying example.

  • In_Stitches

I normally hate her style, or lack there of, but this is fabulous. The silhouette is fantastic for her and she can definitely work a white.

  • Sobaika

So fresh and summery! Her eyeliner will always bother me a bit but I’ll get over it.

    • alyce1213

Oh yes, she really should tone down the black liner, in general, and especially for light, daytime looks.

  • marlie

I love everything here. The dress, the watch, the shoes… I want the whole outfit, RIGHT. NOW.

  • The beach scene is not something I associate with the Easter Show – or with Homebush. Great dress and I love the pearl earrings.

  • @Biting Panda

Bless her heart, she’s found a way for the Queen to allow her a reprieve from hosiery; sand and million degree heat.
Love this, like I loved yesterdays. Classic and obtainable. Well played, Lady.

  • “Pearls, lace, sand” – that is a perfume commercial waiting to happen. Well done, Cathy.

    • EveEve

Not lace really, it’s broderie anglaise – aka “eyelet.”

  • Erica

I both like it AND think it reminds me of an Easter Sunday outfit I wore as a pre-teen in the late 70s (including the cork wedges), if that makes any sense.

  • lamamu

Girl sure does love a cork wedge. It’s her signature shoe. That said, the dress is pretty much perfect.

  • LadyVimes

Yes, I’ll take this outfit too. Dress looks a bit like my mother’s tablecloth, but cute and youthful. I also approve of the deployment of wedges for sand stability.

  • bitchybitchybitchy

Lovely, fresh look for an outdoor event.

  • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

    Very nice. WHERE’S THE BABY?!!

    • Lori

He was supposedly napping. They had lunch with him between events, but no public outing for George today. I’m definitely short on my RDA of cute baby cheeks πŸ™‚

      • Lisa_Co

I heard on BBC news that George won’t have any more public outings until they leave:(

        • Lori

And now I have a sad.

          • ikillplants

He might show up at a “bilby enclosure opening” at a zoo tomorrow! Banish the sads!

          • Lori

I heard that. Obviously George desperately needs a trip to the zoo. Baby cheeks and animals must be seen together.

          • ikillplants

It’s only natural. The public demands it.

  • ryenerman

This is the ONE time I will not only sanction but enjoy a lace-type dress. Perfect shape, cut, and venue for this dress.

    • in a pickle

I agree this is a very tricky event for her to dress for. This is a good choice.

  • Dee

Loovvvve eyelet fabric. Reminds me of home.

  • LP

She looks cute but I feel like any other non-princess person her age at that event would be in shorts or cropped pants.

    • sagecreek

Oh trust me, I bet she was thinking that too. Poor lass.

  • Mary Lauer

A lace dress that isn’t murdering bitter kittens! Who would have thunk it?!

  • Mothra

I notice she’s showing her knees again. I wonder if she’ll get a royal demerit when she gets back to England. I think one of the nicest looks she has is her smile. She always looks pretty happy to be wherever she is, even if she isn’t!

  • sagecreek

Oh look at her. I hate most of the individual components of this look, but she carries it off beautifully. I love seeing her here on T-Lo. Like Kiernan Shipka, I know I never have to get upset πŸ™‚

  • ms_kat

I don’t like it at all. I like the shoes, yes. But the dress looks like an antimacassar from Grandma’s davenport. I usually love eyelet, but the horizontal striping ruins the pattern and the bodice on that dress is completely unflattering. There’s a difference between youthful and childish.

  • MommyMitzi

Classic. Conservative. But never boring. That’s a tricky thing to pull off and she does it with aplomb.

  • SewingSiren

What else would a future Queen of England wear to the beach ?

  • Beardslee

According to What Kate Wore, those wedges sport a 5″ heel with a 1″ platform. I am impressed that she can manage them on sand. Kudos to her.

    • kimmeister

Heels would have been trickier on sand!

  • decormaven

Can anybody ID the watch? Looks like a Tag – very nice.

    • ikillplants

It’s a Cartier Ballon Bleu. LOVE it. She also rocks a Tissot from time to time.

      • decormaven

Thanks! I knew someone would know the make. I’ll have to go look at that model online and sigh.

  • Love it.

  • MilaXX

I don’t like her makeup here, but the dress and wedges are really cute.

  • Lower L

I’m sorry, is there a dress in that first picture? I’m too busy looking at the nice young man who the photographer cruelly cut in half.

  • Granny panties

I adore this. A beautiful dress with a hint of ukrainian tablecloth. I would love to wear this whole outfit!

  • Sophie

    Very pretty lace and silhouette.

  • formerlyAnon

She navigates SO MANY outfits and occasions without significant misstep. It’s amazing.

(Her sporty escort is cuter than several of our actor/celebs today. Nice.)

  • FridaStaire

    Sunday school!

  • Tee

Dear Reese, Kardashians and the rest of you bitches: you will never look tbis polished, effortless, warm and pretty. Please take your your goofy chins and swollen bottoms elsewhere. I’ll take more heaping servings of Cathy, Kiernan and Lupita please.

  • kaybee

Love the look, but my first thought was the makeup needs to be freshened up. That liner is not her friend. She is gorgeous, but could GREATLY benefit from a face makeover! The QUEEN needs to make that happen. Forget the skirt lengths, new makeup is in order! πŸ™‚

  • No stockings!

    • I bet she’s actually just dying to take those shoes off

  • J. Preposterice

wait, I think I own those same wedges. no, for real.

  • Love it. She’s provided the heir, now she’ll dress however she wants, thanks.

  • Cute. I like the seaming(?) that imitates a plunging neckline without being anything so vulgar (for a princess, that is). But I really love a white lace dress in this sort of almost-tablecloth style; it makes it less bridal and more summery to me.

  • Celticharpist

Love this! But as a California girl, I can’t stop thinking of how uncomfortable Kathy must be wearing wedges in the sand. Lets get your poor feet into some flip-flops or flats stat!

  • demidaemon

It’s cute, but not my favorite of her looks on the Aussie tour. Much prefer the DVF she was sporting the other day.

  • She certainly looks like Easter.

  • jw_ny

She should’ve gone barefoot…all I can think of is gritty sand between her feet and shoes. (or is that unbecoming of a Duchess, since she even plays cricket in heels…)

  • Zuber

At what point would she get bored of constant smiling at events she could care less? I think the whole process is exhausting.

  • ThaliaMenninger

    A perfect Easter frock.

  • Vaniljekjeks

I don’t understand what kind of powers she has that she can wear that dress and NOT make it look twee as fuck.

  • Sunraya

Meh. Very plain. Not in love with it.

  • It’s the beach. It’s hot. She’s a royal. Love her, love this look.

  • Danielle

Perfect, flawless, wonderful. I will never be tired of her.

  • dmkava

she was just made for this whole Princess thing. She must have clawed over every other bitch vying for William’s attention, while Pippa took their knees out with a baseball bat
