Girl That’s not your dress or shoes.

    • Paigealicious

      Or spray tan.

      • Kent Roby

I hope this outfit culminated in a joke about a penguin that relocated to the Jersey Shore.

  • 8daysaweek

I wish something were different, but I can’t put my finger on what. Well, the shoes, to start. (Thanks, Uncles, I now cringe at the naked shoe!)

    • MarissaLG

      It’s the ugly dress.

      • demidaemon

    • Sarah

I don’t mind the dress (yes, shoes are bad.) I want her to be nature-colored, for one, and I keep thinking she needs a belt or a scarf but that would ruin the lines of the dress, so I’m thinking maybe a brighter clutch.

      • 8daysaweek

I don’t mind the dress, either. But I think the proportions might be a little off for her frame. I wish the white part ended just an inch or so higher, I think.

    • e jerry powell

The look of a strangely-cut jumper over a sleeveless mens’ dress shirt. Does that get to the heart of it?

      • formerlyAnon

Now that’s making it sound young and fun, in a slightly confused Dexys Midnight Runners’ “C’mon Eileen” video kind of way.

        • e jerry powell

Now I will have nightmares, thank you.

          • formerlyAnon

After you replied I youtubed the video. It IS visually a lot worse than I was remembering. (Gotta admit, song’s still catchy.)

  • Be Arthur

She looks really adorable from the ankles up. There was no call for a naked shoe here, especially one with two-tone ankle straps to really pull focus! Otherwise, super-cute and she seems to feel it too.

    • uprightcitizen

I’m with you. I think the dress is really cute and totally her. I wouldn’t like it in the leather or pleather the model is wearing. The shoes are a mess, though. Maybe the reason the strap got flipped and she looks like she’s sliding out of them is because the minimum requirement of material necessary for something to be called a shoe has not been met.

      • Be Arthur

Agreed – that is the most logical explanation for the strapscrepancy. And dress-wise, right? – cute, totally her, and very appropriate to the demands of the event. Comedy awards? Cute, well-fitted dress with a little touch of comedy sass to it? Yes.

  • Anna

Everything about this look hurts and I’m dying.

(Are those sandal straps SUPPOSED to be mis-matched?!?!)

    • MarissaLG

I noticed that too- I think the strap on her right foot may just be twisted and we’re seeing the backing.

      • Anna

I think you’re right. That would drive me absolutely nuts (not to mention wouldn’t it be uncomfortable/cause a blister at the part where it’s all twisted?)!

        • marlie

That should be on the list of things that an assistant checks for before you step in front of the cameras. No bra strap showing? Check. No lipstick on the teeth? Check. Smooth and straighten the dress. Check. Check the straps on the shoes? Oops…

          • Anna

Agreed! And where was Tina? Tina would’ve fulfilled her BFF duty for sure and told her to sort out her sandal strap!

  • lecoffeeaddict

    cue “Happy Feet” soundtrack.

  • Oh no. No, no, no. Is this a Mad Men tribute, when women were dressed as oversized children? I get that it’s going for a tuxedo shirt, but all I can see is a bib.

  • KT

    Oh dear god.

  • Karen Belgrad

Girl… those aren’t your legs. Either return them to the Oompa Loompa from which they came or put down the bronzer… (and give Kiernan Shipka, circa 2008, her dress back.)

  • @Biting Panda

I wanna be a penguin for Halloween too!!

  • KateShouldBeWorking

Oh Amy, we all want better for you.

  • Constant Reader

I’m giving thanks that she didn’t style it like the model, but that’s the best I can come up with. Except: hair and makeup look great.

  • Mothra

What’s up with that shoe buckle strap thing? One is black and one is silver? That dress is not flattering. It looks like one of those biking singlets with a lobster bib.

    • rkdgal

I’m wondering if the left one hasn’t flipped inside out?

  • Cyprienne Zed

This dress is for no one; neck up is fabulous and I love her.

  • Dadoong21

    Awful length

  • kcnitch

Orange with a lobster bib- it makes sense to me now!

  • Crystal

I kind of wish she’d styled it like the model did, just for my own amusement.

But seriously girl. No. Go home and change please. You are too grown to shop at the Limited Too.

  • Susan Collier

    Angus Young realness.

  • HomeOfficeGirl

No, I’m sorry Amy. You can’t do this.

  • Carolyne

Those legs were borrowed from John Boehner – give them back!!!

  • altalinda

    Cute dress, wrong shoes.

  • marlie

What the EFF is wrong with her shoes? Are they mismatched? The dress is fine, I guess, but if she was going to go with it, the look really called for bolder accessories than these.

  • Cheryl

Jeesh, I’m just glad she didn’t accessorize like the model. With the hat and tie, she looks like Angus Young in drag.

  • Imasewsure

    s’alright but those f%^king shoes… go away

  • Does she have on two different shoes? The ankle strap on the left one is black, and the right one is white, I suppose they could be designed that way, or maybe the strap got “flipped” and nobody noticed. I suppose…..maybe. Anyway, I don’t mind this at all, and I especially like it much better than the model’s version with the tie and the Carnaby Street cap. But Amy, that hair needs some HELP.

    • Gatto Nero

I think the strap got flipped — there’s a visible seam.

  • Bernadette

This dress feels/looks kind of cheap. And hello, orange legs!

  • jilly_d

Sweetie. There is no way God made your legs that color, and everyone knows it. Go home and exfoliate, and try again tomorrow.

  • Ana the Hated

She’s got that trendy ombre effect happening! Light at the top and darker as you move down to her legs.

  • conniemd

I guess I have no taste because I like the dress on her. Not that I think it’s great, but to me it’s got the simple clean lines and the classic black and white dress is right in her wheelhouse.

  • Gatto Nero

I don’t like the tuxedo bib — thing — and the naked shoe. At least she had the wisdom to leave off the tie.
The painted-on leg tanner is distracting.

  • Lex

I don’t like my Amy Poehler in a bib. Make it stop.

  • frannyprof

  • Miss wks

This dress is perfect on her and perfect for the event.

  • BlairBear

I never thought I would say this because I usually hate leather dresses but I think this dress works better with the leather because it gives it some interest and edge. Its a big ole nothing now

  • formerlyAnon

Cute dress, nothing fabulous, thank goodness she didn’t wear the tie on the model. Cooler shoes & bag would have given it a bit of pizzazz.

  • ashtangajunkie

I wish this were better. Her head looks gorgeous, but I wish the neck down were rising to the occasion.

  • boweryboy

Gurl, no. Without the tie and rendered in fabric versus leather it loses all of its chicness and edge – what little bit it had. As it is, it looks like she’s wearing one of those screenprint tuxedo t-shirts from the 70s.

  • imspinningaround

    Lordamercy, that self-tanner!

  • Very mother-of-the-playboy-bunny/cocktail waitress to my eye. Is one of the straps on her shoes flipped backwards?

    • andi56

Great eye! I was just going to say the same thing ! : )

      • Oh, and I just noticed she has a reverse ombre body…. Pale head, darker arms, darkly orange legs.

    • GeoDiva

Couldn’t figure out what was wrong with her shoes. Thanks!

  • andi56

Why does she always look like such a hot mess, from head to heel? That’s definitely not her hair, or her dress. That cutesy stuff really has no place anywhere.

  • demidaemon

This is really weird. Total flub for Amy. Hate the bodice with a passion.

  • cocohall

Although a modified tuxedo dress would seem simple enough to pull off, this appears to really be a FMO dress. To make this work, you need more accessories, and only a model could wear the stockings, tie, and cap and manage not to look ridiculous (and even that is in question). There is a kernel of a good idea here and I can see why Miss Amy was drawn in by the allure of cute little black and white dress, but this isn’t the one. Luckily, she looks poised to have a good time regardless.

  • MilaXX

I like this. It’s not setting the world on fire, but I think it’s kind of cute.

  • e jerry powell

    What the holy hell…?

  • SorayaS

Lawd, I thought it looked bad but then I saw the model pic and it could have been MUCH worse! Her head looks lovely and I could grow to like the dress on her but that is a really poor shoe choice, and I’m not even a naked shoe hater.

  • The garment is actually cute, it’s just that every single bit of styling is wrong. She needed some substantial shoes, a necklace and bracelet, and to pull her hair into a loose up-do. I’ve been thinking lately about blogging illustrations of improved outfits, and this would definitely be a candidate.

  • LJCdoc

    Has she always been orange?

  • Fuchsiaforever

I’m sorry but this dress is not cute. It looks like an unfinished garment.

  • MannahattaMamma

She’s small & cute, so I’m thinking a small-and-cute dress that comes with its own bib is not the best strategy for her. Child-like and then wearing her mamma’s shoes.

  • ScarlettHarlot

    Sleeveless penguin.

  • crash1212

Whoever was in charge of her head should get a raise. She looks great and I love the hair. I like this dress and am happy she ditched the tie. Not loving the shoes in general and specifically with this dress. She needed a statement shoe with this simple dress. As an aside…this is why I don’t “self-tan” anymore.

  • ItAin’tMe

If the legs are short, the ankles are not slender, and the feet are squarish, barefoot shoes are not your shoes! And that seems to apply to nearly everyone.

  • malarson2

I love her so much none of this matters. Plus, she looks HAPPY. She’s got her first beau since her divorce (none other than The Douche) and she looks at ease and confident.

  • Tricia Rose

I can see the idea….but please… the execution!

  • Andrea Lentz

This is perfect for her! Holla Amyyy
