Kit Harington? Awesome hair and pouting skills, son, but your t-shirts and jeans failed to impress. Liam Neeson? You are a suave and finally aged attempt, but unfortunately, your suits and poses got a little dull and repetitive. But this?

Oh, this. This is EVERYTHING.

This is what we’re always talking about with guyditorials. Show us a little personality. Have a little fun with the camera. Wear some colors or some prints you need to be talked into. Be adventurous. Show some wit. Just freaking lighten the hell up, dudes.  You’ll look so much better for it. It doesn’t always have to be business suits or James Dean drag when it comes to guy style.

But yes. His footwear is gross. We can work on that later.

    • EverybodysStarling

He makes me happy just looking at him.

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_QFW22QV426LUOEPGASPZJWJMDE MishaFoomin

These pictures truly made me smile. More guyditorials like this, please. Should it be called, “Pharrell those editorials up?”

        • http://cheekypinky.wordpress.com cheekypinky

Maybe we can make him his own verb: “To Pharrell”?

          • EverybodysStarling

Like in “I totally got pharelled today” :)

    • @Biting Panda

      You’re beautiful….

      • Anna

See, I just want him to know that he really is special. Oh yeah, there’s just something about him.

        • Cz

Something… like the fact that he doesn’t seem to age. (He produced Rump Shaker, people!!!)

And, how he can make me ignore ratty sneakers because that face!

          • Anna

All I wanna do is zoom-a-zoom-zoom-zoom…

      • DeebaCee

I see what you did there, and I approve!

    • Jessica Freeman

I doubt Pharrell had to be talked into any of these clothes. Glad to see they didn’t include his huge hat in these. I loves it all.

    • Diva in 4 Inch Heels

He looks fantastic and agreed about the footwear. They should have given him paired him with those yellow suede shoes.

      • Rhonda Shore

I’m down with the footwear…it suits him!

      • littlemac8

Can I say he looks fly or is that dated. Anyway I think he looks adorable and I could eat him with a spoon!

    • Andrea

All of this is just… love. But that last shot locks it!

      • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

I admit it. I thought of Erkel in the last shot.

        • kimmeister

There’s someone else he reminds me of (likely a cartoon), but I can’t quite put my finger on it. Mr. Peabody?

          • lizajane1776

            Mr. Charles, aka Ru Paul.

    • lundibleu

He’s showing personality, and I applaud that, but … oh, I just can’t with the footwear and the rolled up trouser cuffs. I really can’t, it looks ludicrous.

      • @Biting Panda

It’s as if, just by sheer will and desire, he could transport himself onto a Brazilian beach, at any second. One must always be prepared for that.

        • lundibleu

Hah! Fair point, but I still think the look is ludicrous when not on said Brazilian beach :)

    • DTLAFamilies

I love that he went Trippy Poindexter in the third outfit.

    • crash1212

The polka dots and glasses are everything. It’s Pharrell’s world, we’re just living in it.

      • Glam Dixie

It’s is giving me strong Urkel vibes. A more modern, hipster Urkel but still Urkel.

        • majorbedhead

          My thoughts exactly.

        • Scimommy

Yes, but in a good way!

          • Glam Dixie

Yes, I meant it in a good way for sure.

        • marlie

          HOT Urkel, though.

          • Leah Elzinga

you KNOW that fanfic is out there… or at least it will be now that this editorial is there to fuel it.

          • Meg0GayGuys6

            So, Stefon :)

        • Madam Von Sassypants

Like if Urkel and RuPaul had a baby.

      • Sam Smith

        Same, luv the polka dots.

    • Griffinqueen

Mantwee. Apparently not my thing because I find myself recoiling.

    • Dandesun

      STYLE.

    • Glam Dixie

Some really stylish boy shoes would have seriously kicked this up a whole nother notch. He really brought it down with the scroll down fug.

    • Courtenay P

      oh god yes.

    • Danielle

I was starting to think Sausage Friday was lackluster today. YUM.

    • VicD

Like it or loathe it, you have to admit, he has his own style and is true to it. I love it.

    • http://batman-news.com boweryboy

It’s a cute editorial (and it isn’t far from my personal style but with less saturated color).

My only quibble is the styling makes these high end clothes look not so expensive. If that was the goal then I suppose they succeed if some one like me pretty much wears more scaled down affordable versions of these looks.

    • greymain

      his pants are cuffed…just sayin’

      • http://batman-news.com boweryboy

That’s beyond cuffed. That’s rolled up in an I’m strolling in the surf on a warm summer evening kind of way.

    • Kate4queen

I just love him to bits. Apart from Blurred Lines, that I hate

    • majorbedhead

      He’s adorable.

    • Dadoong21

I like the contrast of the worn looking shoes and the smarter looks

Pharrell could be on the cover of GQ every month, now until his death

    • Aurora Leigh

This is really cute, but the dirty shoes? Is that a thing?

      • Dadoong21

I don’t know if it’s a “thing”, but people sporting worn looking Converse [out of all shoe styles/brands] isn’t exactly a groundbreaking look. 8/10 people’s Converse usually look worse for wear, especially the lighter shades, haha.

      • demidaemon

Probably. I hope it passes fast.

    • fursa_saida

I have such mixed feelings about Pharell, most of which are not his fault. He just looks so much like the one guy who ever actually said to me, “You’re so smart for a girl!” (That guy got dumped real fast.) And then there’s Blurred Lines. But he is, objectively, adorable, and these photos are excellent. It’s a really nice change to see a guy willing to have a little fun with his posing and expressions instead of going for moody and soulful. And we’ll always have Get Lucky.

      • demidaemon

I beleive he also recently released “Happy,” and is probably one of the best music producers out there.

    • Sofia

FABULOUS. why does he remind me of matthew mcconaughy in the open shirt pic?

      • Rand Ortega

I thought the exact same thing. Even sprinkled a little inner “all right all right all right” on it when I 1st saw it.

    • marlie

When he’s not wearing stupid hats, dude’s got STYLE. I love it all. Attaboy!

    • decormaven

Love that Prada shirt. He’s working it for sure.

    • clatie

I love him so much. He’s magical. He is making me heart the gross footwear.

    • lunchcoma

Love this. He’s having fun, they’re having fun, and they’re not so set on promoting him as the Manliest of Manly Men that it comes off as samey and devoid of actual fashion.

    • Mandypants1124

The footwear seems to be a wink at his whole skater background, keeping it real despite the designer duds. Therefore it doesnt really bug me. I am however slightly thrown of by so much man ankle. Does he ever wear socks?

      • Griffinqueen

        mankle

    • vitaminC

40 years old, people. It’s just not fair.

      • demidaemon

        So, so agree.

    • kim bunchalastnames

well, they haven’t made it as far as his ankles, but at least these aren’t shorts! he looks GOOD. p.s. LOVE the blue sweater on the cover.

    • Rand Ortega

A stylin’ dude + his chair = Magic. You don’t get any cooler than that.

    • BlairBear

I think those poses are weird as hell. The first thought that came to mind with the cover was if you keep your face like that it might freeze that way. I like the second shot though

    • Imasewsure

The polka dot shirt photo is EVERYTHING! Fun fun fun sausage… :)

    • lynnlee

      My gawd he’s adorable!

    • Madam Von Sassypants

      Absolutely fantastic.

    • MilaXX

I love Pharrell, outrageous clothing and all. The thing that kills me is he never ages. You look at a picture of him from 15 years ago and it looks like one taken last week.

    • jw_ny

Seems Pharrell doesn’t want anyone checking out his junk, on the cover. C’mon Pharrell…it’s sausage Friday! :)

This is a fun guyditorial…vivid colors and personality. It’s got me wondering if I can pull off a yellow shirt and orange tie….hmmmm

    • http://cheekypinky.wordpress.com cheekypinky

*That* is how one cuffs one’s pants, Kittens.

    • Jacob Bowen

That first outfit is my DREAM outfit, but wow, that polka dot shirt is SO MUCH BETTER than the one I currently have in my closet! I feel like Pharrell and I are on the same fashion wavelength…except I can’t afford ANY of his clothing…MEGA MILLIONS HERE I COME!

    • Evan

Are socks considered out of style these days?

      • Sly

I just bought a pair of sock specially made for my Vans, you cant see them, but they are there. I find when I wear short and sneakers, I hate the way my socks show. So I buy socks that don’t show for my shoes.

        • Evan

I buy no-show socks when I wear shorts too. He and the model are wearing long pants though, albeit all of his are cuffed.

          • Sly

I think for summer, it’s appropriate.

    • cocohall

I love of all this unabashedly. Even the shoes. My dad used to talk about buying white bucks and then purposely dirtying them up before he would wear them. Most men could not pull this off, I’m afraid. But Pharrell has got an inner style compass that always points true.

    • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

I am charmed and completely won over. This is adorable.

    • Elizabeth Szubert

And suddenly, Happy starts playing in my mind. :)

    • MissusBee

I want those outfits and I’m a girl. Is that wrong? Kind of Annie Hall via Roy Lichtenstein.

(Apart from the open shirt one. That would be all kinds of wrong.)

    • Judy_S

Delightful, especially compared to Liam the other day. He is almost if not quite unphotoshoppable, too. I saw your preview of the cover and thought of Josephine Baker crossing her eyes for the photographer. I like the shoes for the same reason, I guess.

    • Betsy

He is officially the coolest guy on the planet.

    • Betsy

And this sums it up–my favorite Pharrell quote: “Both songs are for people who need a break,” he says. “There’s a lot of fucked-up travesty in the world. Sometimes you just need a Hallmark card. Sometimes you just need to shake your ass.”

    • Eclectic Mayhem

      Love. Him.

    • shopgirl716

Good models give their photos energy and movement – Pharrell has managed that beautifully. He has boatloads of charisma and is not afraid of wit and whimsy in his style choices. He always makes me smile.

    • lalahartma

      Out modeling the models.

    • thetechnosnob

Um, yes. Not usually into black dudes (chicks on the other hand…..) but holy hell is he an exception.

    • Danielle West

      LOVE HIM.

    • JoDo11

I thought “show some wite” was some new fashion term, but maybe it’s just a typo for wit?

    • AutumnInNY

      That cover shot wins.

    • MannahattaMamma

No, the footwear is what keeps it all from being too twee (can men be twee?) Those Converse look like someone (Pharrell?) actually wears them, and the espadrilles are fab too. It makes me (can I say it?) HAPPY to look at him.

    • somebody blonde

LOVE those round glasses on him. Those would look just ridiculous on so many other people.

    • Clash D

I like the styling here except for the grimy Converse shoes.
He, bugs. Sorry he tops my irrational hate list.

    • http://reneshiro.tumblr.com/ kingderella

This is working nicely, but I will say, this kind of thing can come off as incredibly douchy in the wrong hands.

    • Daktari100

Love everything except the unrelenting douchy facial expressions.

    • suzq

The footwear is a nice contrast and grounds the pictures. I’m having visions of GQ interns running around frantically, experimenting with eyeliner, pencils and eyeshadow to “scuff” those Converses on the cover. Paola Kudacki screaming “MORE TOE SCUFF! DARKER SCUFF PLEASE!”

He’s so young and thin…the perfect person to showcase fun menswear. Love it.

    • 909girl601world

I still can’t believe this dude is 40, almost 41. I need whatever vampire blood he’s drinking! He looks so darn good.

    • Kikishua

His ankles must be free to breathe!

    • https://plus.google.com/+FrankLithiumz/posts Frank Lithium

      Ugh, this guy NEVER age.
