I loved this dress on her. Great color, pattern, and fit. Way to rock it, Bette!

      • butterflysunita

I also love this dress on her. Nothing to critique. She looks great.

    • http://www.youtube.com/user/TheOctocornNetwork International Model

I thought this was a gorgeous choice for her. Also, whenever I see hear, I see the bear in the drag club in “The Rose” shaking his hairy chest with such aplomb…

      • jspark

Whenever I see her I think of first wives club. And I feel like her character in this would be commenting on how she wants her neck done.

    • decormaven

Why didn’t she wear this for her performance? While this is a skoosh too tight on her, it’s much better than the chosen gown. If the producers felt that red wasn’t befitting a “somber” song, it could have been done in dark blue, black or gray.

      • suzq

I wondered that myself. Her performance dress was looser and more somber, allowing her to breathe more easily and not present a jarring visual after “in memorium.”

        • decormaven

That’s my take as well. I guess the producers wanted the song to be front and center, rather than a focus pulling gown. It was great just to see Bette there, so I’ll take comfort in that.

    • shirab

Interesting that she and JLaw have kinda the same hairstyle, except JLaw’s wasn’t as poufy. And I agree with the BK’s who thought the style was aging on Jennifer.

      • Sophie

She, Jennifer Lawrence and Portia de Rossi, so three different generations. Who wore it better?

        • Snailstsichr

I don’t know if I can compare them, but wouldn’t it be a hoot to party with the three of them?

      • kmk05

She also has a much nicer colour than JLaw, which definitely helps.

      • Kent Roby

I need more coffee; I thought you were comparing Bette to Jude Law.

    • twigg

I’m not a fan of the straight neckline. It gives her linebacker shoulders.

    • ashtangajunkie

How cute is Midler?! It’s always a treat to see and hear her.

    • another_laura

I like this dress but now I’m kind of wondering whether they had to glue those little shoulder cap / sleeve-like things to her. Because that’s kind of creepy.

      • anneland

It’s illusion netting that is really invisible.

        • livesarah

          For once!

        • another_laura

I am super impressed because I cannot see the netting neckline on this thing. Good for her!

          • Yuju Ti

If you look closely at the model’s picture, you will see the netting goes up to her clavicle.

            • GillianHolroyd

Holy shit. This should get its own award, Best Illusion.

    • TRSTL

I like this one her, very pretty. I do think I am in a minority of those who really liked her dress for the performance. The stripes were so flattering and the fit was excellent. I also liked the dark detailing at her waist and sleeves. I know others did not care for it….

      • MilaXX

I liked her performance dress as well.

      • Pennymac

I liked the performance dress better than this one, actually.

        • TRSTL

Agreed. More striking and really, really flattering.

        • Sarah

Me too! I think this one’s nice, but the red and white is a little harsh with her coloring.

      • altalinda

I like the performance dress, although I was distracted by the pattern (other than the stripes) that I thought I saw in the area around her chest and wondered, is that a pattern in the fabric, or am I seeing the imprint of her undergarments?

      • empath

I liked the performance dress more than I liked the performance.

      • Jessica Freeman

I didn’t hate it, it just didn’t stand out. And I get that maybe if you’re singing the memorial song you shouldn’t be over done, but that was under done in my opinion.

      • Madam Von Sassypants

The performance dress did her more favors than this one. This one is also lovely, but a skosh too small.

      • Carla_Charlton

The performance dress was really unusual; I liked it. However, something about the fabric seemed a little informal for the occasion.

    • colleenjanel

      Truly the Divine Miss M!
68 year old! Suck it, young bitches! ;-)

    • http://www.ellenciompi.com/ NurseEllen

I adore the divine Miss M and while I loved this dress as a concept for her I thought it needed better fitting–seemed kinda snug. And I don’t think the cap sleeves were the best choice; I’d have aeen if they could have been made longer. This has nothing to do with style, but I also wish she had acquitted herself better in her performance. she kept touching her ear so I’m wondering if she was having trouble hearing the orchestra, which as we were told, was offsite somewhere. She usually has great performance presence and she seemed really uncomfortable.

    • MilaXX

Nice look, not crazy about the bag. A black or metallic may have worked better.

    • Charles

I had a little gasp, not sure I would have just given this the whiteboard treatment. Love it.

    • MilaXX

I just realized some of these ladies go through 3 dresses in one night. The dress the wear, the presenter or performer dress and then another look altogether for the after party. I watched a few of the post shows today. Lupita wore one look on Kelly & Micheal, then another on Ellen. She also changed dresses for the afterparty. Cate had a different look for the afterparty and a different look on Ellen as well. No one has slept other than cat naps in the limo too and from interviews and parties.

    • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

I LOVE this on her! Way to go, lady!

    • hughman

Remember when Bette made pussy jokes and rolled around on the stage floor? Good times.

      • formerlyAnon

She was young and so were we.

        • decormaven

She’s young at heart, and so are we. :-)

      • decormaven

        Clams on the Half Shell!

    • bitchybitchybitchy

Bette was and is still Divine!

    • deelup

      She looked lovely.

    • formerlyAnon

She looks fantastic. Her face is fantastic. Was sad i couldn’t say the same for her musical number. Nonetheless, she is fantastic.

    • webslice33

looks good, she never was really a beauty but she looks real good…

    • ballerinawithagun

Love this! I wish the sleeves were longer but otherwise perfect. This is the way any illusion should be used.

    • Miss wks

The Divine Miss M looks FABULASH!…and very much in keeping with her Hawai`i roots…

    • Jacqueline Wessel

Love this dress because it’s bold and girlie. She looks great. (Seriously, I’m younger than she and I would have needed longer sleeves. “You go, Bette” )

    • ralish

      Incredibly beautiful!

    • Judy_J

The divine Miss M. I adore her. She looks wonderful.

    • crash1212

      I loved this on her.

    • Fred Vaughn

An early sign of spring, and WAY better than what she changed into on stage.

    • GeoDiva

I agree with everyone…. Divine is the best word to describe this. No Ka Oi!

    • Alyssa

Bam! Show those starlets how it’s done!

    • kalisa

It is lovely and full of her character. I wish she would’ve gone up a size.

    • OneRing

Is it grey or ice blue or white underneath? I wish it fit her.

    • Jessica Freeman

Bette, one of my all time favorites. This was so lovely on her and then her performance dress…blah.

    • Sunraya

Not crazy about the dress, but just like I said with Meryl – she’s Bette Midler. She can wear anything she wants and will get a thumbs up from me.

    • Ashleigh

      DEVINE

    • willworktomorrow

This is lovely, but I really loved the dress she wore when she sang. It suited her perfectly.

    • jw_ny

Love this head to toe..love her more!

    • DominoEstella

She looks great and that dress is beautiful. I’m not sure if it works with her skin tone though.

    • Laura Abrahamsen

Love this, but it may be Michelle Dockery’s dress.

    • bertkeeter

LUVED Bette’s gown that she performed in. This is just another mother of the bride at the Pierre!

    • http://www.wordydoodles.com WordyDoodles

Isn’t this what Reem Acro does so well? The fit, the neckline, that pattern… these are all working so well for her! Love it.

    • ThaliaMenninger

She loves that neckline. It is from Bette that I learned that the square neckline does wonders for the mature lady.

    • marlie

The dress is about a size too small, but there’s no denying that Bette is rocking it! Her hair and makeup look lovely, as well.

    • Granny panties

I thought she looked beautiful in this and her performing dress. I’m a huge fan of hers!!!

    • Jaeda Laurez

eh. I preferred the performance dress, even though her breath sounded like she was Spanxed up lol. I think that was a much more interesting choice than this.

    • CT14

She should have kept this one on!

    • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

      She looks good.

    • lillyvonschtupp

      Way to go Bathouse Betty!

    • EEKstl

I love this dress and it is enormously flattering on her.

    • http://batman-news.com boweryboy

It’s cute. It fits her very well. It’s flattering. She looks like she’s enjoying it. Well done.

    • MyFavoriteColorIsGlitter

      She looks GREAT!!!!

    • demidaemon

      Beautiful.

    • Trickytrisha

Damn. That’s a gorgeous dress, and she’s doing it justice.

    • Claudia Fernandes

Whwn i saw on tv it seems like a giant coral swallowing her, but here she is stunning

    • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ Alicia

When I get nominated (what do you mean I need to do something to get nominated for?) I intend to wear something like this.

    • Stubenville

I love Bette to pieces, but there’s just something awkward going on where the bodice meets the sleeves – it’s like the sleeves aren’t attached.

    • Little_Olive

Top to bottom goes from great to meh and I am definitely not a fan of red lace, but she looks so good. Kudos, lady with a point of view.

    • BayTampaBay

      F***ing Fantastic

    • suzq

It looks just a smidge tight, but I’d stuff myself into that spectacular dress if I were Bette! Simply fab.

    • Joanna

I think I love this on her!

    • Daktari100

      BRAVO!

    • Contralto

that dress actually made me straight-gasp.

    • Lilyana_F

Aw, I’m just so happy to see her :) Gorgeous dress.

    • Gatto Nero

This is a pretty color, pattern, and silhouette on her.
      And she looks so happy/twinkly.
      Love Bette.

    • peachy

      divine, miss m, divine.

    • tintashoopa

She looks so great! She looks much younger than 68 but doesn’t seem to have the weird/awful plastic surgery look.
How does she do it? Did she just have a more skilled surgeon?
