    • Sarah

She looks really cute in this but I do wish the pants were an inch shorter. Love the color, necklace, and shoes.

      • kimmeister

Unfortunately, the shoes appear to be a smidge too narrow for her footsies.

        • Sarah

Ooh, yeah, I see that now. Ouch! But I still like the blue color.

    • Sophie

That rather looks like pyjamas and the hem is too long, but I like her jewellery.

    • marlie

Hem the pants about 3 inches, and this might be cute. A bit too matchy, and a bit like cruise-wear, but still cute.

    • WendyD

Are we really going to do pleated, tapered pants again? PLEASE, DEAR GOD AND BABY JESUS, NO.

      • SugarSnap108

I’m not one for praying, but I will join you in calling on some higher power to stop pleated, tapered pants.

        • MoHub

I will keep the taper but not the pleats.

    • TrixieConQueso

Fun color for a fun gal – BUT – the shape is wrong for her. Maybe it would work if the pants were a pencil skirt?

      • MilaXX

The pants would work better with a proper hem & if they were a straight cut instead of tapered.

      • Sobaika

I follow her on Instagram and am convinced she has no idea how things photograph. Her outfit looked super cute there, but on the red carpet with her hands in her pockets and the hem on full display it looks such a mess.

        • MilaXX

The black lace peplum? Yep gorgeous picture, horrible on tv

        • Jacob Bowen

Yeah, on instagram it is SO much more casual, and her holding the pockets in this manner makes it look SO unflattering!

          • Danielle

I totally agree. She’s holding her pockets out wide and it’s doing her zero favors.

    • rkdgal

      LOVE the necklace!!

    • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ Alicia

Get your hands out of your pockets and stand up straight.

    • Alyssa

Love the necklace & shoes. Like the color on her, but it needed to be in a more flattering shape.

      • VicD

Girl, that is not your shape. Or, rather, that is your shape and those
clothes do nothing for it. I just loved the head and shoulders shot –
that color is beautiful on her, the necklace is interesting. But then I
saw the full body shot. Disappointing.

        • MoHub

If that top were a kicky just-at-the-knee little dress and the pants were replaced with hose, it would be an entirely different look.

    • jilly_d

Hem the pants and make the necklace a pendant, and this would be a winner for me. Love the color on her.

    • sienna elm

      I NEED that necklace!! Wow!

    • another_laura

Almost great. Take hands out of pockets, hem the pants, replace necklace with some kick-ass earrings and a cuff. IMHO.

    • alyce1213

Gotta sew down those pockets and hem the pants. Pretty color on her.

    • leahpapa

She looks like a comfy, confident, colorful, grown-ass woman. I think there should be more of those in the world.

      • Liz

Exactly why I love this. Yes there are quibbles about the pants, but I love the attitude that is shining through.

    • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

Oh no, the fit is terrible. What a shame! This could have been so pretty on her!

    • ConnieBV

I can’t hate at all, despite the fit issues (chest, hem) and the fact that I hate pleated pants. She was so delightful on that panel all my bitterness has fled. All sweetness to you, strawberry.

    • KinoEye

I love both her and the necklace… am having a hard time working up anything but indifference for the rest of it. The color is great for her, but I’m not sold on the silhouette. Tends to go a little Boca Raton.

      • ballerinawithagun

Trina Turk is from Palm Springs, so it has that vibe. I love it! There are issues, hands out of pockets and shorten the pants, but she looks so much better in a slightly relaxed pant rather then muffin top in skinnies, which rarely fit correctly. I’m a 2 and I am so excited to see pleated tapered pants back!

    • nannypoo

If this fit her it would be great. I love the color and the accessories.

    • Perigee

No. My first thought was “oh, who’s the lucky chap who knocked Mindy up and why is she wearing my mom’s maternity wear from 1974?” Great color, fun necklace, but girls built like us cannot do that “solid block of color no waist definition” thing that looks flowy and elegant on a tall, smaller-hipped woman.

      • Ginger

As a woman with the same general build as Mindy, I agree with you. Flowy tops are NOT my friends, no matter how hard I try to make them so. We need definition in the waist.

        • wisdomy

I agree, but I also think it would have looked much, MUCH better if she’d taken her hands out of her pockets.

    • Danielle West

Dear God no. All I see are hips.

    • ovarB

Oh sugar!! No!! Keep Austin weird and put this outfit back into your suitcase!!!

    • MilaXX

I like this, especially the necklace. The pants need hemming & she needs to learn how to pose so that she sells the look, but overall I think this is a good outfit for the venue.

    • FancyPhilly

Liked it better when she posted it on instagram with a jacket.

    • lillyvonschtupp

Can we get this girl a decent lip color besides dark red or purple?

      • MilaXX

Agreed, I think her lipstick choices are almost always bad

        • marlie

Her lip colors almost always have too much brown in them. That, or they’re too sheer. She needs a color with a little more contrast.

          • MilaXX

Her makeup looks like how I wore makeup in 11th grade when I first discovered Rum Raisin and Groovey Grape by Revlon. Her cheeks are often too red. Instead she should go with more natural shades. Let someone contour her cheeks a tiny but, maybe a little (very little) bronzey highlight. The explore less lip glossy looking lip colors, play with the many shades of pinks, red, purples, golds and oranges that those of us with brown skin carry off so well as Queen Lupita showed us.

Just because her skin is brown does not doom her to melted chocolate bar as a lip color.

    • Anathema_Device

She’s just not tall enough for this look. The proportions are doing her any favors, esp with her hands pulling out her pockets like that.. The color is great on her, though.

      • Kitten Mittons

That top hits her at the worst possible spot, but once I saw the full length shot, I think I like it anyway. The colors are great, and that necklace is really fun. I like the makeup as well.

It doesn’t flatter as much as clothes should, but she looks happy. I’ll take happy over thin today.

        • Anathema_Device

Yeah,I hear you. I don’t hate it or anything. If it draped better and she weren’t physically making it into a tent with her hands, I’d probably like it better.

          • Kitten Mittons

            More than agreed.

    • Trickytrisha

Love the necklace. Hate the pockets. That first pic is painful.

    • http://batman-news.com boweryboy

It’s a rare occasion to tell a ladystar to get her hands out of her pockets and to hem her pants. If she did that and employed a different pair of shoes this could work.
I’m surprised I like the necklace.

    • Tanya Wade

      Color, yes. Fit, no.

    • Alfred Cox

Mmmmmmmm. Almost. She looks good, but I feel as though she can look better with some alterations and also a less severe hairdo. Almost, but not quite.

    • peachy

great color. yep the slacks should be hemmed. the real problem with the overall look for me is that her chest is too generous for that top. the model is flat as a board, and the top hangs nicely and makes a statement about the look. mindy loses that with the presence of a chest — most all of us would. maybe not the best choice, but not godawful either. meh.

    • KT

Sigh. I hate to say this (and I’m assuming you didn’t want to say this, either) but that is not the right silhouette for her frame. To be fair, it’s not the right silhouette for most women’s frames, so there’s that. But look at that first shot– her body looks like a triangle. I think it goes without saying that no woman wants her body to ever resemble a triangle.

At least the color is FANTASTIC on her, and the necklace is interesting if not a little strange… though the shoes are half-assed, the pants need hemming, the hair is weird… oh who am I kidding. She should get the top tailored and throw out the rest. Pair that thing with a pencil skirt that will show off her curves, amp it up with some funky (but cute) accessories, and let her hair out. Basically, she pretty much needs to start over. Sorry girl – but the new queen of comedy should not herself be the joke.

    • SierraDelta

Her poor head looks lopsided. If she had put her bun on the right side, it would have balanced the necklace better, and she wouldn’t have needed to keep her hands in her pockets to stay upright.

    • brown-eyed girl

      Love the color on her.

    • MichelleRafter

The SXSWi yellow backdrop wins the boobie prize for worst ever, it makes everything and everyone look worse.

    • Synnae

Love the shoes, like the necklace and the overall colour, but Mindy, leave this outfit to the flat toothpicks. This ain’t for curvy girls. Where did your waist go?

    • Gatto Nero

The top is the wrong shape for her body. And no one but a rail-thin model looks good in pleated pants.

    • sagecreek

Cute, but Mindy, get your hands out of your pockets.

    • GeoDiva

Love the color and shoes, but why is she flaring our her waist with her hands in her pockets? She need some posing lessons and she would be golden.

    • lillyvonschtupp

      I HATE that necklace.

    • HomeOfficeGirl

This is not so good. I follow her FB page and she regularly (daily!) posts pics of herself in much much MUCH better looking get ups. She (or someone) does know how to dress at least some of the time. This is not one of those times…

    • http://armchairauthor.wordpress.com/ LesYeuxHiboux

Mindy Kaling, get your hands out of your pockets right now. The color is aces on her, and I adore the necklace. The shoe color is slightly odd with the very saturated outfit. I wish they were either a purer blue or an earth tone. The hair is cute enough for the event, but the eye makeup seems a little underdone/sloppy. I like this more than I’m putting across, swear!

    • quiltrx

If the top were longer and her hands weren’t in her pockets, I think this could work. The top hits her at a weird place, stumpifies her.

    • BLauD

Love the color, but this look is screaming geriatric dinner party to me. Tapered pleated pants?! Say it ain’t so!

    • Jeannie Shmina Greenwald

How could my girl Mindy NOT know to hem the pants? Also, the pockets are doing her no favors.

    • AceOn6

No, just no. If you don’t have the time to hem the pants and put hem tape over the pocket openings, pass it along to someone 6″ taller.

    • Pterodactyl111

I like the concept, but I don’t think it’s a good look for her.

    • StarburstLady

Am I the only one who hates those shoes? I like the rest of the outfit, but I keep scrolling down and hitting those shoes, and suddenly I think she looks like she’s wearing the coverall uniform for a hipster house painting company that specializes in kid’s rooms.

    • SayWhaaatNow

She looks way cute. But the overall outfit needs to be tailored a bit more to fit her better. I would have paired the pants with a fitted black top that would have really set off the color and the necklace. Or maybe even a white top, for a more spring look.

    • save_the_hobbit

Kind of hate it. But I loooove that she’s showing her arms, it’s always nice to see a lady with curves and stretch marks to boot!

    • MissFern

That is a GREAT look for her!

    • Bernadette

Agree on shortening the pants, I feel they would serve her better as a cropped trousers, would have gone with a strappy shoe like the model shot. LOVING the necklace!

    • Mothra

Color’s great, pants are too long and don’t accentuate the hip pockets!

    • Akemi

      Ooooh, I want that necklace!

    • Nicole S.

Color, necklace and shoes? Amazing. Shape? Incredibly wrong for her…

      • Anplica Fiore

Her hands in her pockets doesn’t help with the shape at all!

    • formerlyAnon

Hem the pants. Like the necklace. She is cute.
