I love that she doesn’t have one of those waxy smooth faces. She looks great

      • http://vispreeve.tumblr.com/ Den Milano

“She doesn’t have one of those waxy smooth faces”… anymore. If I remember it correctly, she was very waxy and smoothy during her Oscar poledance (her face was, at least).

        • charlotte

          The eyebrows of doom!

        • BlairBear

That’s true . Kind of went out of my memory

    • Myra Amler

      Yawn

    • MilaXX

I don’t like the shoe, but she looks okay.

    • Gatto Nero

This is simple and understated and covers all her parts, which if you have to get down on all fours makes for a practical choice.

      • Raspberry2012

I totally agree with you on that point – that it’s a good dress to keep you covered and STAY covered as far as getting down on all fours. But there still could have been some style to it!

        • Gatto Nero

Totally agree. I wonder if there was some extenuating circumstance (e.g., the baby puked on her designer frock as she was going out the door).

    • @Biting Panda

Rocking the new (again) mom hotness.

    • FrigidDiva

Not the most interesting look, but points for wearing something an appropriate length for kneeling on the ground. I always wonder though, why not break out the pants for something like this?

      • eowyn_of_rohan

Cate Blanchett did and she looked amazing!

        • SierraDelta

          Of course.

    • MarissaLG

Hate the shoes, but otherwise? DAYUM.

    • BEARAYMOND

Boy. She totally doesn’t look like she wants to be there. And whats with every part of this look. Hair fried. Makeup dull. Dress from the Kardahian Kollection. I like the shoes at least….. but wow. That isn’t the Kate Winslet who was on her Oscar pole-dance a few years ago.

    • Kent Roby

This dress is doing the job I suppose, but she really is beautiful. Anyhoo, congrats to her for getting her star. Heck, she should also receive some sort of medal of honor for putting up with James Cameron.

    • leahpapa

This is exactly how I looked (minus the innate gorgeousness) when I went back to work after having a baby. Solidarity snaps, sister. Now run off to the powder room and pump.

      • http://Reneesance.etsy.com Reneesance

Ha! I’m so there right now. Except the dresses are in the closet for a while because reasons.

    • nannypoo

I always think the shot where they sit on the ground next to the star is so silly. She’s a grown woman for god’s sake, not a kindergartner. Her face looks great but that dress looks cheap.

    • gabbilevy

Dress is basically invisible, but those earrings are KILLA. Coveting.

    • stubbornthoughts

She is so curvalicious. That is all woman, right there! She will always be one of the most beautiful females to me, and in this shitty LBD, she’s working it out.

I’m a bit shocked she’s just now getting a star, but great for her!

      • charlotte

I guess she had to marry someone named Rocknroll in order to get that star.

      • lunchcoma

It’s a PR exercise, and you have to pay a $30,000 fee. She might not have cared until recently.

        • random_poster

I always thought it was an accolade, and never realized it was something to be purchased. I’m guessing it wasn’t always this way.

          • lunchcoma

There is a committee that selects recipients from among the nominations. However, there’s also a fee payable at the time of selection. Generally, the fee is paid by whoever nominates the star – so, unless your studio or a production company wants to fund a nomination, you may not end up being considered. Given that it’s not seen as that prestigious of an award anymore and is basically just another photo opportunity, people don’t always bother to pursue it.

And, yes, it was originally something that came with more cache.

            • MoHub

How else do you think Ryan Seacrest got his?

    • KTBSN

Wait… Cheryl Hines got a star before Kate Winslet?

      • Imasewsure

I’m guessing Kate and her publicist didn’t really feel she needed to buy hers so early in her career… Now maybe it seemed like a fun thing to have?

    • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ Alicia

Those shoes look like they might actually amputate her feet if she moves the wrong way. Not nice.

      • kimmeister

I’m wondering if she purchased them during cold weather, and didn’t account for foot swell in hotter temperatures. Either way, I hate the gold ankle straps. They look like twist-ties from a bag of candy.

        • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ Alicia

Good point. Or she broke the cardinal rule of shoe-buying and tried them on in the morning.

    • Melissa Mendes

Now THIS is the figure we should all want. She’s gorgeous. I love her looking all hour-glassy.

      • Noah

I love her hour-glass figure too, but I really can’t stand “we should all want to have x body” declaratives. It’s about loving the body you have.

        • Melissa Mendes

You’re right, I really just mean that I wish her body shape was the standard, not that we should all strive to achieve to be something we are not.

    • kmk05

THAT FACE. And those earrings! The only thing I’m not in love with is the shoes, but the dress is pretty much a big old nothing. Good enough for lying on the pavement, I guess.

    • Susan Velazquez

I like her dress but those shoes look cheap. The gold strap is too thin and the black sandals part look like they’re from Payless

    • ojosazules

The fellow in the grey suit approves.

      • Danielle

*scrolls back up, screams with laughter*

      • tired_mommy

The “Most Interesting Man in the World”?

    • KateShouldBeWorking

Glad she brought the hips and tits; she, personally, looks fantastic. The outfit is drab.

    • Raspberry2012

Thanks for dressing up for the occasion there, Kate.

    • Sarah

I have what amounts to the same dress. I do not look as bangin’ in it as she does. I also wear it to work at the public library, so I kinda wish she had more oomph for the occasion. Some fun shoes that don’t look like luggage straps might’ve been good…

    • SugarSnap108

I get the need for a practical dress when one is crawling around on the sidewalk, but this is a whole lotta nothing The shoes unfortunately make it look like she’s wearing two ankle bracelets. She, however, is gorgeous (and deserves a better outfit).

    • CatherineRhodes

She looks insanely awful. Look at the puckered neckline of that dress. Looks like something my Home Ec teacher would have rejected. Her hair is fried and crispy — seriously, dark roots? Shoes are ugly and cheap. Kate, you’re rich, beautiful and fabulous — hire someone to get you dressed for an appearance!

      • kimmeister

I think she’d look better if all of her hair was closer to the color of those roots. I’ve never found the nearly platinum blonde to be a good color for her.

        • anotherkate

I loved her as a redhead back in her Titanic days…

    • decormaven

I love there’s no reference to the dress designer, because that is one non-memorable dress. Hey, Kate’s PR team- if the money was ponied up for a star on the walk, you should have corralled a suitable killa designer frock for Ms. Moore.

    • Cheryl

She really is quite beautiful. The dress is a meh, the shoes are nasty, her hair looks like it needs a good conditioning treatment, but she is still lovely.

    • Nika E

This dress looks cheap but she looks beautiful.

    • Corsetmaker

The dress isn’t great but she looks more like herself again. I didn’t like the hard, sleek, glossed up version we were getting a year or so ago. Much prefer curvy, smiley, slightly mussed up Kate :)

      • bitchybitchybitchy

Kate looks more like herself in these photos-and she has some laugh/smile lines around her eyes, which I like.

    • http://redheadedwolf.wordpress.com/ Laura Renee

Who bullied her into that too-small and boring dress?

    • DTLAFamilies

She has a crazy good figure. Total 50s Marilyn Monroe pinup goodness.

    • Michelle my belle

She is my girl crush and I think she always looks beautiful, but I’m used to a little more effort in the style front from her.

    • Tanya Wade

Is she pregnant? If not, this is the Kate I fell in love with. Is my girl crush really back?! That body is killing it.

      • Mismarker

She is postpartum. Had a baby boy this past December. She looks glorious.

      • Kara Keenan

She just had a baby 3 months ago, so probably not pregnant again. Kate is my girl crush too.

    • Jacob Bowen

She clearly knew she was going to be lying down next to her star, so at least the neckline is staying put and not giving full-on boobage.

    • alyce1213

That’s what she wore to be photographed in at such an event? With post-yoga hair? Awful.

    • Garcia Loca

For having 11 kids, she looks really good.

    • Mismarker

Was going to make a “My, what a prodigious bosom you have, Ms. Winslet!” joke until I remembered she just had a baby in December. The dress looks a bit tight through the thighs but I love her postpartum curves. Shoes need to be burned.

    • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

Swap out the shoes and get some deep conditioner for that hair, but I can’t argue with that dress one bit.

    • Ashleigh

      How do you spell gazanga’s?

    • ‘Becca’lise Deveaux

She’s just now getting a star??

    • Mainegal

I see Shailene Woodley in the crowd…and she managed to dress appropriately for the event!

    • MoreShoes

Here are my boobs and me to get our star. Go back and check Helen Mirren when she got her star, dear. No, just no.

    • marlie

Oh, Kate. The shape of the dress is great for her figure, but the dress itself seems cheaply made. And it’s boring as all hell. And this really simple dress is screaming for bold jewelry and/or shoes, not the orthopedic-looking shoes she has on.

    • formerlyAnon

Uninspiring air of “I dragged myself into work today but I am not convincing anyone that I’m glad to be here.” Surely there was a happy medium between “Shameless Hussy Vamping in a Lace Corset and Red Shoes” and “Featureless LBD” to show off her enviably hourglass figure, but perhaps I am wrong.

    • alyce1213

I had to come back to post this. Everyone Wants to Be Me or Do Me — Just How Do Stars Name Their Babies:

    • Little_Olive

A bit lackluster. I’d have expected better form her for this occasion. It’s not terrible though.

    • cocohall

If she is a nursing mom, I’m giving her a pass. Your boobs can vary in size tremendously depending on when the baby last fed. For three months post partum, she looks good. She might not want to be doing much to her hair if she is nursing, for worry that the chemicals will leech into the milk. I always think it is so odd how we, as a culture, are so kind to pregnant women, but expect the newly-delivered to somehow be superhuman and snap back instantly. It is often harder to be post partum, especially if you are nursing, as you get zero sleep. As most moms can attest, the first three months with a baby are done mostly on faith. Those little humans just cry, shit, and wobble their heads about, with nary a thank you. The fact that she is dressed, upright and awake, with no trace of spit up on her shoulder seems a triumph to me.

      • jabes

She’s definitely nursing — she laughed about getting up to stand in the doorway during the earthquake with the breast pump going.

    • http://batman-news.com boweryboy

A boring, black, unflattering dress and orthopedic sandals. That’s the best she could do?

    • Mojone

I think she looks radiant, gorgeous, incredible. It’s nice now and then to see someone come as they are instead of all futzed up. She is my breath of fresh air for today.

      • conniemd

I love her crows feet. She looks so real.

    • http://tvblogster.blogspot.com Boop

I love how she looks like a REAL WOMAN! Gorgeous in that little black number. Congrats to her on the honor, although let’s be honest – these stars plaques just end up getting pee’d on by drunk tourists at 1am on a Saturday night.

    • mjmiller77

love this. love her. she’s really rockin’ her curves.

    • JynxTheCat

Such a great face -THAT SMILE – and body FOR DECADES.
