This is very Valentine’s Day, she just needs a ruby heart pendant around her neck to complete the look.

    • Boulderista

Valentine Bride – she needs a bouquet of red roses to go with the ruby heart

  • gabbilevy

We haven’t had a good titscrepency in a while.

She always looks like she’s wearing boudoir chic, even in a gown, doesn’t she?

    • mshesterp

That left boob cup is just such an odd shape. It looks like it’s trying to shrink (taking her breast with it) down into the dress. And also–that she has an unfortunate disease of the blood vessels on the left side. No like.

ETA: Gah, and why those horrible satin shoes? Kate, no.

    • Danielle

      The JBF hair isn’t helping.

    • leahpapa

She – like L’Aniston – is always in a Do Me look, and I’d love to see her try some Be Me chic. And maybe a smile instead of smolder.

    • ballerinawithagun

      Possibly the worst titscrepency ever!

  • Glam Dixie

It looks better on Kate than it does on the model, I like it but it could stand to lose the train. Her hair is a bit of a mess as well and she has on boring shoes.

    • demidaemon

      Good minds think alike!

  • Little_Olive

Trophy wife at the Emmys. No.

  • DTLAFamilies

Monet dress. I kind of liked it at first glance then got a closer look at the Frankentits, bad shoes and bedsheet train.

    • Evan

Sorry, but I’m confused by your comment. Are you saying you don’t like Monet?

      • DTLAFamilies

It’s a TLo-ism that I’ve probably mangled. The idea is it looks good from far away but when you get closer to it it stops making sense.

        • Evan

Thank you! I hadn’t heard this one before, but it makes sense now!

      • Blair Sylvester

It’s a clueless reference. It’s used to describe something that looks good at first glance but if you look more closely it is kind of messy

        • Evan

          • DTLAFamilies

Old person alert: I had never heard of Iggy Azalea until I read your comment. But I watched the video and it’s cute, plus I kind of like the song (shock).

  • sojourneryouth

Don’t like the train. This is just okay otherwise, if not a bit on the tacky side. Is it just me, or has Kate been looking kind of try-hard lately?

  • Gatto Nero

Full disclosure: whenever I read “Marchesa” I become irritable.
I’m not loving the uneven tits, the wonky length treatment, or the foofy train. The shoes are underwhelming.
Her makeup is fine, but the hair looks random.

    • E2_Remote

Glad I’m not the only one with that same reaction.

    • Boulderista

hair by the same stylist who did Helen Bonham Carter’s bows.

  • MilaXX

That’s an ugly dress. just pleated and gathered in all sorts of crazy ways. I know Sophia Vergara gets crap for always going to the va va voom well, but I think Kate goes in even harder. Not really liking anything here except the minaudière.

    • Gatto Nero

      So … typical Marchesa?

    • In_Stitches

Her Oscars party dress was a travesty. She is one of the most beautiful women in the world with a very easy body to dress and yet she comes out like a grown up Toddlers and Tiaras contestant time after time.

  • CB

I’m sure this is a fundraiser, so good on Kate for donating/attending, but it strikes me as kind of odd to see the word “HOLOCAUST” plastered behind a red carpet.

    • sienna elm

      Disconcerting, for sure.

  • Jaeda Laurez

Kate at a “What You Do Matters” event. Wearing that dress. The jokes write themselves.

    • demidaemon

      Please, don’t contain yourself.

  • another_laura

It almost goes without saying that it’s an overworked dress. I’m also getting a tacky bedsheet vibe from the pale pink satin.

  • Guest

I’m getting a tacky bedsheet vibe from the pale pink satin. ick.

  • KateShouldBeWorking

    Kissing-booth couture.

  • This is less a “do me” and more a “somebody’s just done me.”

    • demidaemon

      Often. Possibly for pay.

    • Jessica Freeman

I want to like this x1000

  • Bebe

Why wrap a bedsheet around what looks to be a pretty dress all on it’s own?

  • RescueMe23

Overly complicated and fussy. Please honey – do something with your hair! Yikes!

  • Twigg

Everything about this look screams “JBF”

    • MoHub

Including having taken the bedsheets with her when she got up.

  • kmk05

That gown only works on people who are flat-chested. Any hint of boobs only turns it into a titscrepancy situation. She looks dishevelled, but in a bad way.

ETA: The hem of that dress is disgraceful, but what is even worse is that it is the same on the model.

  • E2_Remote

Flora Post would not approve of this.

  • demidaemon

It looks better on her than the model. That said, there is still way too much going on. Also, I can’t with that train. It’s like a wedding dress that was modified by a blind hooker.

    • formerlyAnon

I’m starting to get the feeling you aren’t fond of this dress . . .

      • demidaemon

        I’m glad you noticed. 😉

  • eowyn_of_rohan

“Marchesa” and “Holocaust Museum” — the cognitive dissonance is breaking my brain.

  • KinoEye

What You Do Matters, Kate. It even says so right there in the name of the event. This includes what you wear. The half bedsheet with weird babyheads is making me irritable. I know you don’t care, but irritating a volatile woman during that time of month DOES matter. Do a better job next time. I’m counting on you.

  • Jessica Freeman

Initial reaction: well that is a lot going on. See its by Marchesa: oh, well carry on then.

  • rage_on_the_page

She’s so smokin’ hot. How does she blow it so frequently?

    • Little_Olive

I feel she is precisely too aware of being smoking hot. She looked 1,000 times prettier in her inmate costume from Brokedown Palace.

  • Anna

“Shit, I thought the invitation said, ‘Who You Do Matters.'”

  • Mona_Visa

    Sad shoes.

  • Evan

    From the “Bridal Boudoir Collection”

  • @Biting Panda

What a weird and twisted little dress. Since Marchesa is synonymous with overwrought, I’m just pleased there isn’t any tulle. Not that a mile of extra sateen is all that much better. Kate needs a major style shake up.

    • decormaven

Amen to the style shake up.

  • alyce1213

Another overworked Marchesa. There’s a glimmer of a nice dress somewhere in there, but there are too many elements, it’s sloppy and not well draped.
But hey — no flotsam and jetsam.
That the Beautiful Georgina Chapman sits in judgment of others is so irritating.

  • AC Simons

A very fussy Frankendress. Way too much going on, complete with fabric poo coming out of the back. Scroll down fug to the shoes, and voila – a completely dreadful look overall. The hair and makeup are OK, if standard, but the manicure is lovely.

  • KayEmWhy

Weird boobage dress. It’s way overdone.

  • Laura Renee

Now that’s a challenge for stylists: how to dress your clients when the biggest words in the backdrop behind them are HOLOCAUST MUSEUM.

    • alyce1213

A little more tastefully and appropriately than this, for starters.

    • decormaven

Didn’t someone read the invitation? Or is it like the old joke, she’s showing up for everything, including an envelope opening? Something more subdued would have been appropriate for this venue.

  • formerlyAnon

Dress melting off one boob or deflated peacock tail train. Not both.

Though really, is a train attached to a mid-calf cocktail dress EVER appropriate for an event described as a “Dinner”?

  • MarieLD

hmmm. Someone got paid money to design that dress? The little girl who dresses up in paper dresses can do better.

  • Sally Spannagle

Yuck. Looks like she rolled out of bed and clipped a sheet to herself.

  • patticake1601

Its kind of like MILF-y bridal if that makes any sense.

    • Little_Olive

It does -trophy wife was my first reaction. She is all made up and strangely you know she is (or originally was) prettier than this. She’s lost the candor I guess.

  • Trickytrisha

At least Marchesa is consistent… the hem is as bad on the model as it is on Kate. And that’s the highest praise I can come up with.

  • poorellensmith

What a shock: a Marchesa dress that is way too fussy!

  • Imasewsure

This is proof positive that celebutantes are styled and then dropped at the door of whatever event they are committed to… without knowing where they are going… awful dress and awful for that event

  • BrianaJC

    the shoes…the horror.

  • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

In that last shot, is she pooping fabric? 🙂

  • jw_ny

Could’ve been a pretty dress without the messy bed sheet wrapped around it.

  • cocohall

I suspect she dresses for the reactions she gets from men, and by men, I suspect the sort of men who wouldn’t be bothered by a titscrepancy when all they are thinking is “this dress has easy access to the fun bags.” She is a stunning woman. She can’t help but look pretty, but I don’t think I would like this dress deployed anywhere, much less on the RC for the US Holocaust Memorial Museum. What is the fashion equivalent of being tone deaf?

  • E. D.

God no – bad neckline, puckered fabric all over the place, bad length.

  • angrynikki

I think this is an odd choice for an event that centers on confronting genocide put on by the Holocaust Memorial Museum.

  • elemspbee

She looks tired, flat somehow. And the garment looks like a bedsheet wrap around. a fancy one of course.

  • Tracy_Flick

Stained satin bedsheet titscrepancy. NO. And absolutely NO NO NO for this venue. If there was ever a time to tone down the sexxxy, this is it.

    • bitchybitchybitchy

This dress includes the normal Marchesa penchant for doing fabric origami, and complicating the design.

  • DailyDose

the dress would look better without the trains

  • andi56

This dress happens to be several bad ideas crammed into one frock. Having been to a couple of these events, this dress wasn’t really too out of line. It’s a pretty fluffed-up affair, which is to say, the dress might work without the train, if it wasn’t screaming for so much attention.

  • B_C_J

Not sure this was the right gown for the venue & the occasion

  • NMMagpie

She always looks like she is trying too hard.

  • theblondette

  • GillianHolroyd

Whelp, I like it. It has old Hollywood glamour. I can see it on (a later) Joan Crawford or (an early) Joan Collins. But completely discordant on this one and on this occasion.

  • marlie

This dress looks better on Kate than it does on the model, but it’s still not great. It seems really dated. Like, a 1990s era prom dress. The length is also really awkward, and the train thingy is unnecessary.

  • Mazenderan

Everything about this just looks messy.

  • Judih1

Candidate for one of the worst RC looks of 2014

  • Julaine Haraden Morley

Titular lopsidedness + messy hair + nude shoe = thrice NAY.

  • MyFavoriteColorIsGlitter

Girl, that is some RAT NEST hair!

  • guest2visits

I think this looks great on her…..sorry!
The shoes might be better if they were a bit more matchy like the models are – but I still don’t hate her choice here.

  • sagecreek

Marchesa. Always one little bridge too far.

  • mjmiller77

great makeup, like the hair. Hate the titscrepency, but otherwise think the dress is great. The shoes are blah – the model’s red shoes are so much better.

    too much like bedding

  • Badriya Al-Badi’a

You know you might be watching a little too much gory television (Walking Dead, Vikings) when your first thought on seeing this dress is “wow, those blood splatters are pretty artful.”

  • ballerinawithagun

The red appliques are fabulous, why hide them under a bedsheet?

  • amaranth16

This dress… makes no sense. It’s like she was wearing a fabulous Marchesa dress and then accidentally zipped her sheet into it as she was getting ready, and then just decided to go with it.
