      I Dream of Jenny Packham.

      • sienna elm

        with a matching clutch

        • snevhead

      • NBG

Made even more so with the hairstyle!

      • @Biting Panda

You see what happens when I don’t get here first? Mind reader!! : )

        • Capt. Renault

Just filling in, keeping your seat warm.

      • SportifLateBoomer

      • Judih1

        you nailed it!

    • gabbilevy

Is there some reason she always wears her hair like this? It’s so dated and juvenile. The dress is fine.

      • NBG

I seem to recall us kittens had a “90s banana clip” discussion on another one of her photos a few months ago.

      • Vanessa Reyes

I was thinking the same thing. Enough with the high ponytail already…It’s almost the hair equivalent of “Pulling a Jolie”.

    • Stefanie Argudo Mackenzie

Hate the hair…the rest is fine.

    • colleenjanel

I’d rather this dress on Queen Helen.

Kate was sitting with my darling Hugh Jackman at the same event. Could we make this a Sausage Monday?? (Though I have to admit that I’m not crazy with his current facial hair arrangement, which is undoubtedly “for a role”)

    • AmeliaEve

Why aren’t they showing us the back view? It is the only way to make sense of the peek-a-boo middriff.

    • marlie

The dress is a great color, but I feel like we’ve seen this before? This could have come from out of Megan Draper’s closet. And her hair is OK, but I think her makeup is too downplayed for this dress.

      And the clutch is hiddy.

      • Jacob Bowen

TOTALLY HIDDY. Made worse by the fact that it matches that cheap, gold rick rack trim.

        • marlie

          It just looks so cheap!

          • demidaemon

I think everything here looks cheap, so there’s that.

        • KateShouldBeWorking

I don’t mind the trim at the neck and sleeves but the trim at the cut-outs reads very Figure Skater to me.

          • Jacob Bowen

            My thoughts exactly.

      • KinoEye

I’m getting a cheap version of Jane Sterling’s acid outfit.

      • kmk05

I think the clutch is a trend: wasn’t someone else wearing a similar one a few posts ago? (maybe Shailene Woodley…)

If the hair were down and blown out, that look could have worked.

      • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

Are we sure that clutch isn’t an old Trapper Keeper?

    • NMMagpie

      Cheerleader hair.

      • Jacob Bowen

Has anyone told her “Bump-Its” were SO 2007?

    • decormaven

Even the Power of the Scarab can’t save that hiddy gold clutch. [ETA: That step n repeat goes down as one of the worst ever. I first thought it was the logo for Heinz or Papa John’s Pizza,]

      • schadenfreudelicious

LOL, are we sharing the brain today? :)

    • schadenfreudelicious

The dress is fine, hair is silly as noted by the other BK’s, but that background…ugh…looks like it should be on a burger joint wrapper…

      • decormaven

        Like minds…

    • JR Labrador

If she blinks will she disappear in to her bottle?

(Jameson Empire Awards? If they’re based on consumption of Jameson’s, my nomination must’ve gotten lost in the mail).

      • Shawn EH

        Beat me to it!

    • Little_Olive

Megan draper would make this sing. Kate just needs a haircut.

      • KinoEye

This is like a poor man’s version of Jane Sterling’s acid ensemble — some of the best costuming in the whole show. Granted, it was white, but the cutouts on the side are taking me there.

    • jilly_d

Let’s all just take a moment and be thankful that those cutouts aren’t filled with flesh-toned illusion netting.

    • Kate

love the nude lips – I wish I could find that simple of a color that didn’t make my face look the color of oatmeal.

      • marlie

The difference with this lip color is that it seems to be her natural lip color, or a very light pink. I suppose this would be a true “nude” color, since it looks like she’s not wearing lipstick at all. In that respect, it’s ok, though I think the overall look itself requires a bolder lip color.

What irritates me is the flesh-colored “nude” lip that is intended to make the lips look the same color as the face. I have yet to see that version of “nude” look good on anyone, and that may be the oatmeal problem you’re referring to.

      • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ Alicia

What sort of skin tone do you have? I find Clinique glosswear in Air Kiss gives this sort of colour on me.

    • Jacob Bowen

I swear I thought it was a “Papa Johns Pizza” event and the backdrop was made of pizza boxes.

      • demidaemon

I was so distracted by that hideous dress I didn’t even see the background. For once.

    • KinoEye

Best dressed pizza parlor cashier I’ve ever seen.

    • Jaeda Laurez

      Looks cheap and boring.

      • http://redheadedwolf.wordpress.com/ Laura Renee

Yeah — only in the close-up does that trim look anything other than the cheapest costume ribbon. Which is not the effect you want.

    • Danielle

Oh, dear. Pulling a Jolie at it’s finest.

    • Janet B

      I love Irish Whiskey!

    • Shawn EH

The I Dream of Jeannie remake is hers!

    • random_poster

She’s a pretty lady but rather generic. Every time I see her I stop and think she looks like some other brunette starlet. The dress is okay, but that clutch is flat out ugly.

    • ScarlettHarlot

      Corporate Christmas gala, circa 1989.

    • http://batman-news.com boweryboy

Nope. You can bling it up as much as you like but a side cutout will always look tacky (unless it’s a bathing suit then it’s forgivable).

      • demidaemon

    • ashtangajunkie

      She needs an updo intervention.

    • Lower L

I think there should be a moratorium on burgundy dresses for women who use orange spray tan. The colors just fight.

      • Lori

I think there should just be a moratorium on orange spray tan. Why do people still think that looks good? Do they think it falls under the “we mock because we love” category? If so I volunteer to disabuse them of that notion. We mock because it looks like crap.

    • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ Alicia

I feel like this is J.Lo’s dress and she would bring a lot more divatude to it. As it is, there’s a certain Deanna Troi realness to this look.

    • bhl_1123

Aside from other problems (banana clip hair), this does not read ” early spring” to me at all!

      • marlie

        You’re right. It’s almost (Christmas) holiday-ish.

    • ChelseaNH

Something about the fabric is coming off as cheap.

    • Kitten Mittons

I seem to be in the minority, but I don’t dislike this. I actually like the burgundy color, and I think it looks better on her than the model. The details are what bring it down for me, but I still think she looks pretty.

    • Imasewsure

I think the dress looks great. Hate the clutch and not sure I’m liking the hair… sleeker would have been better with this (channel Posh here for the win)

    • Nancer

Well done! I really like this.

    • http://armchairauthor.wordpress.com/ LesYeuxHiboux

The navy would’ve looked better on her. The pony was a good instinct, but not all curly and slapped-together like this. If it were more polished, and her eye makeup more dramatic, this could have been a good-to-great look.

    • PastryGoddess

Much like the McConahoos, she just can’t shake the thin veneer of tackiness that exudes from her pores. Also, you are wearing a dress with side cutouts. POSE DAMMIT

    • BobStPaul

The dress looks better on her than it does on the model.

    • Kent Roby

She is serving some grown-up Alexis Winston realness; I just hope she doesn’t trip over any roses.

    • Sarah

It looks like she is actually thinner than the model. Did not know that was possible.

    • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

      Hate it. All of it.

    • Sam Smith

I feel like this is the 3rd or 4th time she has shown off her tummy or side tummy at a red carpet event. Yes, here tummy looks great, but somehow all this tummy showing for a woman her age seems desperate and cheapens her brand.

    • LeelaST

I Dream of Jeannie in a gown. Those cutouts are tacky.

    • MilaXX

I hate the trim on the cut outs. Takes the look straight to tacky-ville for me.

    • jonnyf8

I think the whole problem is that Jameson/Empire logo. It looks like it should be on a package of hot dogs not the backdrop for a red carpet shoot.

    • Alyssa

I can’t stand the tongue behind the teeth smile celebs are doing now. Curse whoever it was that pointed it out on here a few weeks ago!!!

    • another_laura

For me, this is more serving Star Trek Original alien goddess realness than ersatz Barbara Eden. Same era, for sure. I can’t hate on the burgundy color (except with orange spray tan). Hate the clutch, though.

    • amaranth16

That color is divine on her. I think she looks better in it than the model. Not crazy about the hair.

    • Lily

Meh is the only word that comes to mind here.

    • Hoffa_w_HerHead

My problem with her- and this look- is the same problem I have with Sophia Vergara. It’s okay to embrace a more mature version of hot & sexy- you don’t have to hit a certain age and start dressing matronly. BUT, whenever you keep trying to dress like a 21 year old- just to prove you can- you often times just look desperate.

Girl, you’re too old for that dress.

    • SorayaS

I don’t know what she actually does anymore but she does wear clothes well.

    • demidaemon

I kind of hate this dress. It’s weirdly matronly, too sexy, and cheap all at the same time. And the hair is a big ol’ NO.

    • Comfy

      She needs a new head.

    • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

If that smile is any indication, she feels good in this dress.

    • somebody blonde

It looks better on her than on the model.

    • Lilak

Discreet little earrings would’ve been nice, but mostly I wish she’d chosen an elegant little bejewelled clutch featuring more than one color –that splashy gold thing is buggin’ me, esp. with this gown.

    • Mrs. O

Just, please, someone, feed this child. And then make her give that dress back and promise not to ever, ever wear it again. The trim looks like someone got crazy with a glue gun and 10 yards of upholstery gimp. “This will jazz it up, and the trim was on sale at Calico Corners!”

    • http://frockpaperscissors.blogspot.com/ kvlm

Where’s Aladdin? She looks cute but there’s no way to get around this being a genie reference. The hair sealed the deal on that one.
