Julianne Hough in Beverly Hills

Posted on March 13, 2014

This could’ve been a really cute look, if she hadn’t chosen to air out her table runner for the day.

Julianne Hough seen out and about in Beverly Hills in Valentino flats and carrying a Chloé ‘Sally’ python bag.

Chloé ‘Sally’ Python Bag

Girl, what is that? Really, now.

The dress and flats are really cute on her. She rarely ever gets it right, but we’re surprised how much this look is working for us. The belt seems all kind of wrong, though. And someone clearly needs to sit her down and instruct her on what’s expected of her by the nice people who give her free purses. Generally speaking, this is not the kind of picture they want to see, hon. They want you showing that shit off, not obscuring it and rummaging through it for a piece of gum. We need to see STRAP and LABEL clearly.

Honestly, must we teach these starlets everything?

And what’s going on with that hair? Did she just put a brooch on her head?

Honey, fetch is never gonna happen and neither are you.

    • sagecreek

LOL. I said FINGH the other night to someone and they looked at me like I was nuts. I laughed, though, because I knew that I was cool.

    • Nelliebelle1197

Thank you, Panda. I have been wondering why anyone is trying to MAKE her happen. She confuses me.

  • thecitysleeps

I need those flats. RIGHT NOW.

    • makeityourself

Valentino Rockstuds. About $695. Check around because some stores have exclusive colors.

For cute flats. That you’re going to let touch the ground. As a member of the peasantry, this so made me laugh.

      • thecitysleeps

Oh yeah, I can def afford those!

        *goes to New Look*

    • MalCo09

The C Label Hudson-10 flats are pretty good copycats for much cheaper.

  • Glam Dixie

I will take her out for those flats, the hair, she can keep. The bag is really cute and the dress might be, wish I could see it better. That scarf is so wrong.

  • MilaXX

Darn near a personal best for her. Lose the scarf and we’ll call it a small victory.

  • HomeOfficeGirl

She’s a flunky from the Jessica Alba school of 365 scarf wearing. Probably didn’t need it for warmth – I wonder if she wasn’t comfortable with how bare the top of the dress was? Or, if she felt she needed the color so she could wear the shoes that sort of match? (She didn’t need it… the shoes are cute!)

    • Spicytomato1

Maybe the new short hair exposes her neck too much for her own comfort? I get it because I have been wearing scarves more and more for warmth and comfort, even when it’s not that cold. I think it could have been cute had it been arranged a little more neatly. But overall I’d say she looks better than any other occasion I can remember.

  • Sarah

Cute shoes! This is a case in point for the idea that scarves have gotten completely out of hand. I would rather see NO scarf than ALL scarf.

  • Danielle

That bag gives me lady wood.

  • Constant Reader

I sort of like her silly hair with the brooch on top. I must be feeling benevolent because it’s almost Friday or something. Not loving the scarf, though.

    • marlie

For some reason, I read “Almost Friday,” as if that’s the alternate name for Thursday.

  • altalinda

On a positive note, she looks her age. Bravo for that.

  • Peri7473

oddly, when i saw the thumbnail, i thought “young Tyne Daly”

  • Tatiana Luján

I think the blue scarf brings light to her face. Maybe a blue necklace would do the same trick without the fuss, but that shade of the dress would make her face look dull. She needs color near her face.
    I WANT those flats.

  • You can’t promote a Chloe purse and a Cost Plus scarf at the same time. (Confession that will shock no one: I wear broaches in my hair.)

    • decormaven

The scarf is so very Cost Plus. A real crime to pair it with that purse.

    • Nelliebelle1197

Ahh.. but you can, if you have STYLE! Miss Hough is sorely lacking on that end unless one considers Blanche Dubois’s rejects STYLE 😉

  • melanie0866

I like the scarf! Otherwise it would be colorless and boring.

    • aahlife

i like it too, it brings her shoe color up to the top of her body.

    • Kitten Mittons

I do, too. I wish it were about 1/3 of the current size, though. Just bulky, and you can’t see the top at all.

  • Trickytrisha

Nice shoes, cute look for her, especially since the shades more or less obscure those eyebrows.

    • LambeeBaby

      Uncle Leo eyebrows.

  • lynnlee

I don’t understand wearing scarves in warm weather. And certainly not a big honking one like that.

    • IMNAngryLiberal

i wear scarves pretty much like that in warm weather all of the time because I fry like an egg in the sun. The scarf keeps the back of my neck and other sundry parts from burning. So this look makes total sense to me.

      • marlie

I also wear lightweight scarves in warm weather because you so often go from the warm outside to the frigid air-conditioned inside that you need it sometimes.

  • THAT BAG. Sigh.

  • KayEmWhy

I don’t understand why people pay attention to her. What’s with that weird hair anyway?

  • SugarSnap108

The shoes are adorable, and I like the scarf. It’s the dress I’d ditch.

  • marlie

This is a cute look! I love the shoes, and I don’t mind the scarf at all; they’re totally my thing.

  • Baghag

Pretty sure that python is illegal in CA…. just sayin’

  • fursa_saida

In the thumbnail, I sincerely thought this was Shailene Woodley on a bad day.

  • LadyLuck777

I read your notes before I saw the picture. “Air out your table runner” had a much different meaning in my head.

  • Sabin

You could not pay me enough money to carry a purse made out of a SNAKE. ((((shudder))))

    • OhSheila

Why not? it’s dead. and that’s awesome.

  • GeoDiva

    This is just hilarious!

  • Miss wks

It’s freaking 80 degrees today in LA. It is most definitely NOT scarf weather….

  • cocohall

I find her cluelessness sort of endearing. I think she hasn’t quite left her dancer style behind. There is a dance studio near me where women who are well in to their 60s and 70s are wearing leg warmers, funky sweaters, scarfs, shawls, etc over their leotards. She looks like she could sashay right in and teach a lesson. They also are prone to doing odd things to their hair to keep it off their faces. Little Julianne can dance her ass off – I think she should own it and look more like a dance rat all the time.

  • Loramir

The dress does look like it’s really cute under all that. Still, I don’t mind the scarf (the lady behind her IS wearing a cardigan…maybe it was early and still cool when she left home or something?) or the hair brooch but I haaaaaate the shades. Aviators to me will never not look like giant bug eyes.

  • Janet B

I can understand why she wore the blue scarf, the dress is a horrible color for her.

  • webslice33

you’d know at first glance that she isnt from LA..she’s a honky tonk and it shows

  • A.E. Boredom Queen

I have no idea who this lady is, but what’s up with her hair? I normally love do’s with a poof at the top, but her head looks like the icing on top of a cupcake. I also hate those sunglasses, just something about that shape irritates me whenever I see someone where them. I adore the shoes though.

  • JustMe

I’m sure you’ve noticed, but this is about all the color you will probably see from her. Her entire wardrobe seems to be blacks, whites, browns and other neutral colors, and she rarely varies. Any color will come from accessories, not the outfit itself. If you ever look through photos, it’s VERY rare that she’s in any color other than neutrals (or pastels). It’s her “box” and she does not seem comfortable escaping it, even though she CAN and SHOULD wear much brighter colors. Other than that, she seems to wear what she likes, and is comfortable for her, and doesn’t seem to mind what anyone else thinks. I know most/all here think she should, but it’s refreshing at least.
