Love the pocket square, but the silhouette makes him look… hippy? That’s not your jacket, Jon.

      • boweryboy

Yeah. Something is really off about the fit.

        • kirkyo

All the crap in the pockets is not helping.

        • decormaven

Hope Kiltd jumps in here to give a technical breakdown on the fit issues. The vest seems a bit much- maybe the coat fit across the chest is too tight? Anyway, he looks a bit compressed.

          • 3boysful

I think the jacket is a skosh too tight: pulling at the button, and making him look like his shoulders are raised and that he cannot breathe. Cuffs a smidge too short. But the pant hem is pretty good! And Jon Hamm is always good!

            Kiltd, where are you?

            • Kiltdntiltd

Right here, Sweetie! To my eyes the jacket is cut in a short waisted way that competes with Mr Hamm’s longer waisted torso, so it hits over his lower ribcage, and flares out too far as a result. It is also just That Much too small in general for him. A half size up on the jacket could have cured all ills.

            • decormaven

To the rescue! Thanks to Kiltd and 3boys. I get lost on the niceties of tailoring, but I do know when it’s a wonky fit.

          • Stefanie Argudo Mackenzie

The whole thing is really too small. Is he trying to be Ty Burrell? Last episode of “Modern Family” had him in a hipster type suit that had that same off look because it was too small. The repeated pattern makes it look like an optical illusion. Suppose he gets all wavy and shit when he walks? I say do away with the suit…Mr. Hamm by himself is very fine…

            • Spicytomato1

I thought of the same thing, Ty Burrell was hysterical with that tight suit gag. Hamm’s suit doesn’t seem quite as overtly hipster, although the pants are pretty slim, and thankfully it’s not quite as tight either!

      • Laura Renee

Seems like it’s all a size too small…

      • conniemd

It’s the darts that are not his friend.

      • e jerry powell

Maybe the top two buttons instead of just the middle one? It’s just thick through the middle, so I was looking at where the buttons were. The fit would probably change a fair amount with different buttoning.

    • Laura Renee

I can’t believe how much he looks like a doofus in the last pic.

      • The Counselor

Just part of his charm for me–I like his range :)

        • Danielle

Me too. I love when he was on 30 Rock or SNL.

          • MK03

I can’t decide which I like more, Dr. Drew the Cartoon Pilot or Hamm and Buble.

            • The Counselor

Hamm and Buble has the menacing overtones that crack me up everytime, and Buble did a good job playing off of that.

            • Alanna

Hamm & Buble is one of my favorite SNL things — nay, favorite things period — of all time.

      • MK03

Are you kidding?? Doofus Jon Hamm is one of the best Jon Hamms!

        • Laura Renee

          I wasn’t complaining about it! :)

        • sojourneryouth

I find his doofusness delicious. Omnomnom!

    • YoungSally

Sausage Friday and it’s only Monday — Is this a special present for Lent?

      • FrigidDiva

We have a new day, Hamm Monday!

    • Mary Elizabeth Poytinger Baume

that looks like he borrowed a suit from the roger collection….

    • jw_ny

Looser/bigger jacket and tighter pants next time John. (and yes…I’m kidding about the pants, although I do enjoy having a better view of the hamm 😉 )

I like that it’s a bit different than the usual RC suit. Good try.

      • Capt. Renault

I believe the technical term is “Hammaconda”.

        • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

          You win the internet today.

          • Capt. Renault

It’s not mine, but I feel it’s my duty to proclaim this term across the land.

            • Rhonda Shore

              it’s brilliant and worth proclaiming.

            • jw_ny

ha…I googled “hammaconda” and sure enough, it came up as a thing. too funny! :)

      • imspinningaround

If you watch the Paleyfest panel, you can tell how tight those pants really are. Hrrrrrrnnnnngg.

    • Jessica Freeman

      Hot damn Hamm!

    • Chuck Barthelme

I like the suit. Not sure about how I feel about his hair though. Looks too poofy for such a polished look.

    • sugarkane105

Hm, gray seems to do nothing for him, and the jacket is a bit tight. A rare misstep from him.

      • Wendi126

Agree. Everything is too tight. The color is too light and his hair is poofy. I like my Hamm dark and trimmed

    • Constant Reader

That check is migraine-inducing in photos and the weird proportions are only making it worse.

      • Snoskred

The check makes it actually impossible to figure out what the heck I am looking at here.

Is this Hamm’s plan to hide the hammaconda? Wear things that look like those 3d art photos so we cannot work out if the hammaconda is travelling free or cooped up in some pesky underwear? :)

    • Murtada

the hair is suspiciously lustrous and available…. maybe he got the “Affleck” treatment

    • Beardslee

      A spring suit. What fun!

    • golden_valley

Don’t like the poofed up hair. It accentuates the forehead and makes the eyebrow to top of hair out of proportion to the rest of the face.

    • The Counselor

Between his pocket square matching the Citi logo on the backdrop and the b&w suit matching the Paley print, I’d say his clothing “ties him to his surroundings” (tm TLo) very well.

    • MilaXX

He hasn’t looked this good to me in a very long time.

    • Gatto Nero

      Oh. Yes.

    • Deb Oswald

It looks like he is too long waisted for it- and mabye the 3 button cut is accentuating it. He might need a different cut for it to look right, not sure a bigger size would do it. It just looks wrong for his body type

    • mary mary quite contrary

    • mommyca

I watched the panel and while he was sitting the vest looked very tight, like the buttons were about to go off flying any moment… I would say “Jon, that’s not your vest!”…

    • marlie

Jon’s jacket is too tight, and the pocket square doesn’t go, but darn, he looks pretty good. The print on the suit is really nice. Attaboy!

    • alyce1213

I love tiny checks, this is a great suit – but It would be much nicer on him if it fit properly. Jacket’s too narrow, hits too high at the waist, sleeves too short, cut of the pants make him look hippy. He’s such a good looking man, and I can’t explain why, but he does nothing for me.

    • Nimith

Is it me or does he look like a Madame Tussaud’s figure without the beard?

      • homofascist

That man definitely needs a beard.

    • SierraDelta

His tie should be knotted more carefully. Hate the color of the pocket square and the lack of panache in its deployment. The collared vest is awkward. The suit looks like it was made to be worn with a corset underneath and is too tight overall.

I hate Mondays. Does it show?

      • Kitten Mittons

Agreed on all points. Plus, I feel like he should have buttoned the top button on the jacket. I can see too much vest, or something. But I don’t think he can button that top button, because it’s so tight.

        We can grumble together.

    • JauntyJohn

I’m not 100% sure if it’s the shape or the fit or both, but this is a primo example of how the wrong blazer can make a handsome TV Star look like a Jr. High School Principal about to speak to the PTA.

    • Kate Andrews

That man. I don’t care what he wears. All I see is that face!

    • webslice33

      no hammaconda sighting? hehe

    • Cheryl

I just wish he’d carried a man bag, murse, whatever you want to call it, get rid of the phone, wallet, and whatever else he’s got in his pocket. Get rid of the debris and I think he looks pretty darn good. Love the pocket square.

    • Judy_J

I agree with the posts about the jacket being too small. It’s giving him a Pee-Wee Herman look.

    • Malibufire

      Designer stuffed sausage?

    • Coleslaw McGraw

That suit is beautiful but it is not tailored properly. Also not loving that pocket square.

    • Marie Sea

Is this a trend? All suit jackets look 1 size too small? Every step and repeat seems to have a majority of men in 3 piece suits with a small jacket.

      • makeityourself

Blame it all on Tom Ford.

        • Marie Sea

It’s an odd look. It makes most of these men look like they are broad in the hips. It actually feminizes them.

    • msdamselfly

      Such a shame, the fit.

    • BLauD

What is with the too small jackets men seem to be sporting recently?

And the way he has the pocket square in there is a real shame. I love the pattern of it, but wish it was featured a bit better.

    • Qitkat

While I agree with everyone else about the poor fit of the jacket, this is really a great look for him. Everything about it from head to toe embodies 2014, with not a whiff of the sixties.

    • formerlyAnon

Like his hair, here. Suit is off, but others have covered that authoritatively.

After giving it a couple of years to see if the impression held (I thought his t.v. presence dressed & groomed mostly exactly like my dad might be influencing me), I have to finally conclude that I’m among the .01% of the population who don’t really get his appeal.

      • Gatto Nero

When I read “suit is off,” I pictured jacket and trou on the floor (etc.).

        • demidaemon

These picks would be infinitely better if that were the case.

    • bitchybitchybitchy

Okay, we can quibble about the fit of the jacket, but damn, he is one fine man!

    • Wink

He photographs better when he channels Don Draper and does not smile.

    • Roz

I love it! Imagining him wearing this for his role as a clueless British gent.

    • Musicologie

He looks so young! Maybe I’d just grown accustomed to how old they’re making Don Draper, forgetting that his actor isn’t nearly so harried.

    • PaolaT

Good to see the Hammaconda out and about…

    • Danielle

What is that pattern even ugh my eyes can’t even focus

      • sagecreek

Yeah, he should be savvy enough by now to not wear that on TV.

    • Deborah Lipp

Thank you Jon for being you. Yum.

    • kimmeister

Just yesterday I was telling my husband’s cousin that I think vests are best left to the Very Skinny. Jon hasn’t changed my opinion.

    • Jacqueline Wessel

He looks younger here than I usually see him. I thinks it’s the hair and clean-shaven face. Otherwise, typical Hamm which I love.

    • Angela_the_Librarian

Hair seems a bit off, but it’s Jon Hamm so I don’t care! Also, I just finished watching A Young Doctor’s Notebook (it’s on Netflix now). His accent was pretty terrible, but the acting was his usual high caliber (though believing that he is an older version of Daniel Radcliffe is laughable)

    • skitzfiggitous

I would have loved a shirt with some color. The suit pattern’s so kicky. The stark white looks like he grabbed it from another suit. I also have issues with his extra-lift hair, but all said… Sigh. Jon Hamm.

    • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

      THAT FACE.

    • LaSylphide

Is the suit too small? Do I mind?

    • suzq

I’m no sartorial expert here but to my eyes, the waist of the jacket hits too high. I think that’s why the jacket is pulling and appears too tight. It doesn’t fit his long torso. Maybe this is on purpose to show off his….package, but it’s distracting and makes the whole suit and the whole look sloppy. Anyway, if you’re packing that kind of material, no need to show it off all the time. Really. A glint in your eye and your cowboy swagger should be sufficient.

Also, quit borrowing ties from morticians.

    • Libby

      Hammaconda alert! 😉

    • KT

Too tight. Which SHOULD be a blessing, but apparently he’s wearing underwear now. Terrible timing.

    • The Versatile Chef

That pattern is giving me vertigo.

      • Shawn EH

I think it’s just moiring the camera like crazy, may not look at all like that in person.

    • crash1212

Doesn’t fit him and the pattern is making me dizzy. Of course he STILL looks fabulous.

    • ShaoLinKitten

I am unable to criticize this look because… mmmmmmmmm. Hamm.

    • LesYeuxHiboux

Did he steal John Slattery’s suit as a prank?

    • teensmom99

Like most of the Mad Men folks, he looks best when he’s styled in the clothes from the first season. That’s his period.

    • demidaemon

Can’t with the texture of the suit. It’s overwhelming him. Also, is it just me or is his hair not right here either?

    • SusannaGA

Terrible fit. Like the hair, though. It looks soft and silky.

    • MartyBellerMask

      Ouch, my eyes!
      I like his hair though.

    • joything

That tiny check produces a migraine-making moire pattern on my screen. Ick.

    • traceyishere

      too tight

    • Boop

The weird pattern and tight fit is distracting me from melting into his eyes and then jumping his bones.

    • ojosazules

A glitch in the matrix suit. Very cool.

    • angrynikki

    • lillyvonschtupp

Just undress him. I would! :0)

    • Trickytrisha

Rather painful to look at. Doubt that was his objective.

    • SportifLateBoomer

My first thought at seeing these pictures is, “I think he looks gorgeous and I would do anything he told me to do.” Fit, schmit! What suit? Dat face, dat hair, dat package….

    • PixiePunch

the pattern is having a strange moire affect for me. A very handsome man just moire-ing it out.
