wish the hair had more zhuzh, love the color on her, hate the shoes

  • Tricia Rose

Her puppies need a tad more support.

  • Sophie

Not flattering to her bust, hate the hip detail, which looks like cheap elasticated lingerie lace. I don’t like the shoes or the clutch either. On a more positive note, I like her face and her left hand bracelet. Not a win.

    • That left hand bracelet looks like a Tiffany Atlas design. If it is, no wonder you like it!

      • Sophie

I don’t know, it doesn’t seem to have roman numerals, just pyramids. I do like the Tiffany Atlas collection (thanks for the reference), but it’s another one of these collections I could never afford. (And even if I could, I wouldn’t want to shell out over 6000 dollars for one bracelet.) The pendants are pretty.

  • I wish people would realize that “the smaller the size we can squeeze them into, the better” is not a good styling tip. There comes a point of diminishing returns. Gillian Jacobs is a ridiculously pretty and petite woman, but that’s not what comes across here.

    • Twigg

Maybe she’s on the new season, she wasn’t in seasons 1 or 2.

  • Look! It’s a dress with a hem which does not hit mid-calf! And the shoes are cute! Who cares if it’s a tad too small?

  • In_Stitches

Those are some ugly, Rainbow Bright,retirement-home realness shoes, but they really work here. The dress is nice, but a bit too tight. I think I can make out nipple.

  • Anna

    Pros: Gillian Jacobs, colour, bracelets
    Cons: Everything else

    • SugarSnap108

      Well put.

  • Gatto Nero

    Lace insets — no.
    Striipy, naked shoes — no.
And the girls need more support.

  • barbarienne

Ditch the lace panels. Go half a size up. Add a statement necklace. The length and proportions are good.

It’s a boring dress, but the shoes are fun. The purse is too obvious and boring.

Hair is good. Lipstick is not quite the right color for her skin, but thank Crom it’s not a nude/beige lip. The eyes don’t need so much “make them look wider and further apart!” action; her eyes are beautiful and should be highlighted, not moved around her head by makeup illusion.

  • alyce1213

It’s a little tight, her boobs are a little squooshed, and I’m generally not a fan of lace insets (these are not too bad), but she looks pretty and it’s a good color.
The shoes will be divisive. I like them. They’re fine for pretty feet, like she has.

Just saw her on The Chew today. She was bright and funny.

  • Danielle

Love the color, wish it was a size bigger.

  • decormaven

That dress, in a size up, may have been better here. Those are some vintage-inspired shoes, and not in a good way.

  • Sarah

I had some plastic little girl dress up heels that looked exactly like this. And were probably the same size, given how those shoes look too small for her feet. I was about 7, and wore them with my mom’s poodle skirt and a feather boa. This, however, is not the correct deployment of said shoes.

    • Qitkat

This is that time when I wish we could post pictures here. You must have looked adorable!

      • Sarah

Hehee. I had a good dress-up clothes box, because Mom was a 50’s teen and my older sister was a 70’s kid. Mix that in with some of my grandma’s “bad hair day” wigs and giant costume jewelry, plus supplemental contemporary stuff like plastic kids’ heels and play makeup, and you had a pretty good mess of stuff.

        • Qitkat

          Lucky girl you.
Now I’m wanting to pout and feel deprived of that girlish pleasure, I didn’t do much of that, except at friend’s houses.

    • kimmeister

They would be better with a poodle skirt and feather boa than they do here. They are ALL kinds of wrong for this look.

    • Coleen

I thought at first that they were a closed toe and was going to give them a pass. Then I saw that they weren’t. And your post encapsulates my feelings on them, exactly.

  • luludexter

I love her. but I do not love this look.

  • SewingSiren

Nope. I can still only see that paisley . It has straight seems on either side of the poster and they didn’t bother to match the pattern. Bugs.

    • Qitkat

There are times I really like paisley. But this one would give you nightmares, even in total darkness.

    • ScarlettHarlot

It’s from the Hunter S. Thompson collection.

  • ScarlettHarlot

I like the dress, but loathe the accessories. She was good on Drag Race. I love how she clearly watches the show “every season when a queen says she wants to stay true to her drag style, she goes home pretty quickly after!”

  • Crystal

I dislike that lipstick application. Also the dress is too small. But the color is gorgeous and the hair is boring.

    And those shoes. Sigh.

    • Qitkat

It is rare that I’m not in love with a cobalt blue outfit. This is that time.

  • Julie Chase

Love the cuff and the color. And her face, as always.

  • Capt. Renault

Thank you, T-Lo. You knew what I wanted before I knew it myself.

  • MK03

I didn’t realize until last night that I’ve been saying her name wrong all this time.

  • Susan Velazquez

She looks so…plastic. She reminds me of a Barbie doll and not in a good way

  • crash1212

Those shoes should be burned. With fire. The rest is only OK. Do better dearie, you’re on a hit show.

  • Tanagra

The dress is too tight, but I think she looks pretty and happy. Random Thought: She really doesn’t like to show teeth when she smiles.

  • Imasewsure

I’m fine with everything but the clutch which I hate. I don’t even dislike the shoes because they are not “the” shoe of 2014. Props for wearing anything other than those!

  • 3boysful

I feel like nearly everyone we’ve seen lately has been very pale–don’t they realize that if they are not starring in DA or a vampire movie, they are supposed to have some color, even in winter to make the rest of us jealous? I cannot believe that all these people have realized that tanning is unhealthy.

  • marlie

Cute dress, though the accessories are a little “Easter Sunday.” Not that I necessarily have a problem with that.

  • The background plus the tiled images is so busy I barely notice her. It’s like one of those Magic Eye pictures. If I stare long enough in one spot she materializes and what I see makes me look away immediately.

  • lobsterlen

Whoever thought a paisley backdrop was a good idea should have their art degree suspended.

  • Monabel

    Too tight.

  • MilaXX

I really like her but this is a fail. Dress is too tight, shoes are fug and I’m not feeling the pink bag at all.

  • Constant Reader

The shoes are for stepping off the Love Boat to tour Mazatlan. I’m willing to forgive my other minor quibbles because the sheer lace thing won’t GO AWAY and at least this is a demure use of sheer. (Really wish she’d gone up a size, though.)

  • TAGinMO

    She really Britta’ed this one.

    • lobsterlen

Thank you. I know I recognized her somewhere and it wasn’t VEEP.

  • I once saw Gillian on set on ‘Community’ talking on her cell phone dressed as a carrot. So it’s all up from there.

  • She doesn’t go out much. And she is such a cute gal. She’s very Julliard/NYC so at least this shows that she is working with some sort of stylist and starting to own the star thing. Good effort.

  • Kent Roby

On a totally positive note, JL-D is KILLING it on that poster!

  • MM4321

Probably looks better in person, but perfectly cute in photos, too. I love her and think she’s adorable on Community.

  • Clash D

All I keep seeing is that bloody wallpaper.
