Everyone Wants To Be: Tina Fey in Antonio Berardi at the “Muppets Most Wanted” Premiere

Posted on March 12, 2014

Miss Tina is quietly reciting the first part of our Universal Celebrity Mantra: “Everyone wants to BE ME right now.”

Tina Fey attends the premiere of “Muppets Most Wanted” at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, California in an Antonio Berardi dress accessorized with Jimmy Choo pumps and Van Cleef jewelry.

Which is our way of saying that her natural self-confidence and acquired grace and poise are doing the heavy lifting here of making this look spectacular. Of course the killer hair helps (Note to Sandy Bullock: Here’s your next hair). The dress is … okay. The silhouette’s great on her, but we don’t like at all how the skirt attaches to the top. It says a GREAT DEAL about how far she’s come that she can work a tricky element like that and have it ultimately not matter because the overall effect is so good. “Everyone wants to DO ME” is such a simple style to pull off, but “Everyone wants to BE ME” has a lot to do with how you carry your style; how you feel in it. Miss Tina’s clearly feeling pretty good at the moment and we don’t blame her at all. Attagirl.

I want to be her!!! My hero.

      • Kitten Mittons

Me too. I just read her book a couple weeks ago, and I fell in love. I love everything she embodies. A writer that can make me snort has me for life.

Her hair and face look amazing. I like the dress enough, though I’m not big on black and navy combos. It’s a little awkward, but the whole effect just makes me smile.

Tip o’ the glasses to you, lady. Work it out.

        • http://www.GiftedCollector.com/ The Gifted Collector

I absolutely do not like black and navy together and I’m not fond of anything going on between her breasts and her navel. Hair is gorgeous.

          • Kitten Mittons

It really is gorgeous, looks so healthy.

      • EveEve

This! Lots of celebrities think that everyone wants to be them. But I really do want to be her!

    • Kathy_Marlow

I want that hair on my head..even though I know it would take a team of hairstylists to make it happen on a daily basis.

      • VicD

That hair is giving me LIFE!

    • Targettaste

The curved seaming on the upper part of the skirt is not flattering, or maybe it’s too snug?

      • kimmeister

It makes her whole hip area look like a big circle, which is generally not the look that most women go for.

    • @Biting Panda

Chin up, shoulders back, tits out, and smile!!

    • mshesterp

Her head suit looks fantastic, but I think the dress is doing terrible things to her shape, making her look paunchy and the blousy top is doing awful, drooping things to her chestal region. But still…the overall look is totally giving off a “Be Me” vibe, which says volumes about her confidence on the red carpet. Bring it on, lady. I think SHE looks great, despite that dress.

      • Vanessa

But she has her “can you believe I’ve had 2(or 3 or 10) children” expression on and seems so happy!

    • HomeOfficeGirl

      Yep – she looks gorgeous!
I really dislike that skirt – NO one needs the effect of having hiked it up over the belly. blah!

      • BmoreKate

Agree. I feel like it’s not ideal when the seam between your top and your skirt makes your waist look like it’s frowning.

    • Carrie

Not a fan of the dress at all, but her confidence is sexy as heck which kinda makes it work. Go her.

    • Anna

I’m not sure about this dress, I like it in the first and last photos but not so much when viewed from the other angles.

But who cares, because everyone wants to be Tina all the time. Hair and makeup are gorgeous.

    • MarissaLG

The top makes her boobs look droopy. Other than that, I love the pumps and her hair looks killer. Very nice, Ms. Tina!

    • RescueMe23

I’d like the dress in bolder colors. And, yes – I would love to be her.

    • mmebam

*sigh* I DO want to be her…

      … in another outfit.

    • SewingSiren

The skirt is a little too tight, other than that it’s perfectly fine for the venue.

    • BLauD

This dress is doing her no favors. She, however, is doing that dress an enormous favor – her confidence and beauty is the only thing carrying it off. I mean, in the first and second shot, it looks like she has boob pockets.
But let’s be real, who doesn’t want to be Tina Fey, or at least her best friend?

    • Karen Belgrad

Awful, awful top… What did her bust do that it deserved to be punished so?

    • Eric827

My guess is that in three dimensions, it’s clear that her stomach is flat.

But in two dimensions, from the front, the effect is really unfortunate.

    • http://www.momforless.com/ Crystal

Tina is the patron saint of geeky girls with glasses (aka me). Love her, love the look – but the boobage is a little weird, no?

    • nannypoo

Too much makeup, fabulous hair. I love the colors in the dress.

    • clatie

I sit around and imagine the fun BFF talks we would have and, oh, how we would laugh! I heart her in a vaguely unhealthy way.

    • marlie

Tina looks great! I love the colors of the dress, even if the design itself is a little too fussy for me. Still, it’s crazy flattering to her figure. Also, WOW does she have amazing legs. Her hair and makeup are very pretty. Attagirl, Miss Tina.

    • Pennymac

The dress is not my favorite, but her confidence is making this whole look SING. And her hair is rockin!

    • Betsy

I want to be her too. The only book that made me laugh so hard, the adjacent people thought I was insane.

    • rebeemoon

This brings to mind a line Karen Walker said on an episode of W&G about having to wear glasses: “Why, I look like the beautiful and talented Tina Fey. If there’s a higher compliment, I don’t know what it is.”

    • Danielle

That is the best hair she’s ever had. APPLAUSE MISS TINA. Applause.

    • ovarB

And she is workin’ this shit for a Muppet premier. Make that money La Liz!!

    • quiltrx

I am totally jelly of her hair! She’s making kind of an odd dress work. You GO with that confidence, girl!

    • Sam Smith

It is wonderful how far she has come in poise, confidence and style. So great to see.

    • MilaXX

Yep that weird high waisted skirt is a bit tricky, but Ms Tina has her fashion game under control and it shows. It doesn’t hurt that professionally she is riding the top of the wave right about now. Rock on Ms Tina, rock on.

    • jw_ny

SHE is seriously performing some kind of magic feat to trick us into initially thinking she looks good overall, because that is an awful dress. Neck up…she’s stunning! Her posing…fantastic! Dissect the dress elements and it’s not flattering to her figure in the least.

    • Joanna

I LOATH this dress. It is not at all flattering – it makes her look like she has zero support.

    • majorbedhead

That hair! I am having serious hair envy over here.

    • fringebenefit

      Hooray, TLo. All brilliantly said.

    • tallgirl1204

I love this look. However, I must note that my first reaction was “Why Miss Jones, you’re… beautiful.” Something to do with the outfit, which is perfectly safe for work, with a little 1940′s drama in the skirt. Sexy secretary, “Our Girl Friday” edition.

    • msdamselfly

I’m sorry but i find this whole premise of “Everyone wants to be me or do me” degrading. Can’t we just appreciate good fashion?

      • http://www.tomandlorenzo.com/ Tom and Lorenzo

Of course you can appreciate fashion.

We, for our parts, will be writing about it in the style that appeals to and speaks to us. You are welcome to join in or you can skip the posts written in the style you don’t like.

      • JauntyJohn

        Perhaps you’re new here.
The phrase is applied equally across genders, and is in fact a witty summary (in what would be considered “today’s vernacular”) of the celebrity marketing machine, as viewed through the lens of fashion, product placement, the entertainment industry and yes, the Arts.
This site is home to some of the most insightful pop culture critique and laugh-out-loud commentary on the internet.
While you are entitled to your opinion, I believe you are missing the point.
Plus, Poppas’ got a book to sell. And no shame in that.

        • http://www.tomandlorenzo.com/ Tom and Lorenzo

“Plus, Poppas’ got a book to sell. And no shame in that.”

CAN I GET AN AMEN UP IN HERE

          • bitchybitchybitchy

AMEN-from a BK who just finished one of the most enjoyable reads evah!

          • Rand Ortega

(Fans self with Martin Luther King paper fan stapled to a popsicle stick) LAWD…LAWD…

        • @Biting Panda

          Preach!

    • Skippymom1

She has the absolute most beautiful feet in stilettos. Sigh. Of course, loving everything else about this….but I always notice her feet.

      • ampg

Ironically, I suspect that’s because she hasn’t done a ton of A-list pole-dancing until the last 7 years or so, which means she didn’t ruin her feet with decades of torturous heels.

    • Mothra

“Are you wondering where my belly is? IT IS RIGHT HERE!!!!”

    • GorgeousThings

I actually love the dress. It’s a great silhouette for us bustier gals.
And yes, I want to BE her.

    • A Shiny O’Connor

Yes, that elliptical curved waistline would give not-preggers Gisele Bundchen a pot belly. Somehow Tina werks it!

    • formerlyAnon

Gorgeous hair, head, self-confident air. That dress isn’t tricky, it’s downright unflattering and not all that attractive. Kudos to her.

    • ashtangajunkie

I wouldn’t mind being Tina Fey at all. She looks great here – love those earrings.

    • Gatto Nero

Not the best dress (I’m not sure the color blocking works), but she’s selling it. And her hair and face are lovely.

      • bitchybitchybitchy

I’m not entirely sold on the color combo either, but Ms. Fey is definitely selling this look-love her hair and makeup!

    • 3boysful

I j’adore the earrings, and love the blue and black.

I would bet cash money that Ms Fey has read your book and is silently beaming your words backatcha, TLo!

    • YourLibrarian

I still want to do her, though.

    • http://www.readbarbara.com/ ReadBarbara

She looks great! And she’s also wearing one of those Julianne Moore “I’m smuggling kittens in this top” tops.

    • SouthernGirlRena

…wondering if I can pull off that hairstyle. It is roughly the same length and color. She may have more layers but that is nothing my stylist can’t take care of. I like it.

    • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

Holy crap, that’s the first time in living memory I’ve seen something my hair can conceivably be convinced to do on a RC. Taking this pic to my hairdresser.

    • http://batman-news.com boweryboy

I hate the weird bunching at the waist.

    • Jacqueline Wessel

That is some great hair; shiny, bouncy, healthy, not too neat and not too messy. I love it.

    • MM4321

I DO want to be her . . . but not in that dress. Sorry, it’s such an odd shape. And it makes her girls look droopy which I don’t think they really are, and which no woman wants.

    • Monabel

      Unfortunate lumpy, foldy dress.

    • Truthiness2U

Great face and make-up, the top is okay, if simple/basic…but I HATE that skirt. It’s weird looking, and worse, unflattering.

So I would want to be Tina in this picture from just above the waist up. After that? she’s on her own.

    • livesarah

I think that dress is going to be very unkind to any woman. Bad dress, but no-one could carry it off any better than she is doing here.

    • ChaquitaPhilly

LOVE the hair! Not so much the waist/skirt thing that’s going on, but she rises above it to look great.
Oh and I thought her book was wonderful, too.

    • Shawn EH

Love blue and black together on a brunette!

    • gefeylich

So glad she’s gone back to the dark brunette hair color (although I do detect a few faint golden streaks) – it suits her skin coloring far better, and she’s one of the few people (along with Sandra Bullock) whom dark hair does not age. She looks lovely here, but then I always think she looks lovely. She is such a paragon of everything: beauty, style, intelligence, wit, class, humanity. I adore her.

    • RuthGo

I have a real soft spot for dark blue and black together. I just think it immediately looks crazy sophisticated.
