Anne Hathaway Lunches At Cheebo in LA

Posted on March 12, 2014

The spring thaw has arrived and Miss Anne appears to have put away her epic bitchface for now. That makes us sad. We were pleasantly surprised that Miss Need-To-Be-Loved could turn that off and serve up “Outta my way, you judgmental bitches” at a level that would make January Jones and Reese Witherspoon step back and mutter “Damn, girl. We had no idea.”

Anne Hathaway lunches at Cheebo in Los Angeles, California with a friend carrying a Balenciaga bag.

But even though she’s not giving us, “I hate you. Stop looking at me” like we want, we have to admit, she looks utterly adorable here, even if the shirt is wonky as hell.

We have to admit, we’re really surprised she hasn’t grown her hair out by now.

I love her little headband and that skirt is too die for!

  • thecitysleeps

I love her little headband and that skirt is too die for!

  • Supernumerary

I’m struggling to look past Miss Anne’s need for a better-fitting bra.

  • lobsterlen

Anne lost her bitch face because she just bought and no doubt sampled chocolate. Its probably humanely impossible, even for Oscar winning actress, to produce a bitch face after consuming high quality chocolate.

  • BayTampaBay

    Hate those shoes!

    • kimmeister

ESPECIALLY paired with that skirt! The color is fab, yes, but that skirt does not go with moccasins under any circumstances.

    • 3boysful

I hate them with this skirt, but could see them with jeans or shorts.

    • CT14

Should have read comments first, but my hate for those shoes with this outfit needed venting!

    • Adrianna Grężak

Agree, this would have been a more chic look if she wore simple ballet flats

  • fursa_saida

I really hate the length of the skirt, but I hope she never grows her hair out. It suits her so well.

    • leahpapa

Completely agree. Some women (Charlize T, Michelle W, Halle B) just look best with short hair, and she’s one of them.

    • Personally, I think she looked the best when she was in “The Devil Wears Prada”. That’s why I miss her long hair. I wish she kept Andrea Sachs’ fashionista style.

      • Little_Olive

Same here! The bangs that go with that haircut are not the right for her face IMO. She can rock a bare forehead or booms, but not really this. I just keep remembering her in that mauve-brown sequin dress and wish she could go back to her fashion A-game.

  • ashtangajunkie

If Anne is anything like me (and I assume she must be, since we have important things in common like gender and hair colour and nothing else), once she cut her hair, she declared herself done with long hair forever.

    • lobsterlen

I recall hearing interviewed about her hair and she loved the ease.

    • Ginger

I desperately miss how cute my hair was when it was short (not to mention how cool it was), but it was anything but easy to maintain. It’s odd that it takes me much less time to fix my hair when it’s long.

      • Sarah

I miss short hair too (mine was super easy – wash n’ air dry!) but I’m Not Allowed. I am engaged to a man who equates “female” with “long hair.”

        • Mine claimed to hate red hair. They get over their whims with time!

          • Sarah

He has no leg to stand on, color-wise. I switch that up all the time. (Red now!) And to his credit, I had hair past my bum when we met and for a long time after. He was very sweet when I had to cut it all off – “You look great! Very cute!” but I can tell he likes it better grown out. It appears that I can’t grow it much longer than shoulder length anymore, so it can’t get THAT long.

      • jilly_d

As someone who had long hair her entire life and got a pixie 2 years ago that I’m now growing out…..I will attest to the fact that it is much higher maintenance than long hair. More cuts, more coloring, and no “just throw it in a pony tail”. And more $ spent on different products also. I like my short hair, but I’m not sure I’ll miss it when it’s gone.

        • Amber J

The need for frequent trims is what killed short hair for me. My hair grows really fast and it’s just too expensive for me to maintain the short-short cuts.

      • kimmeister

That’s because you can easily pull long hair back into a ponytail. Depending on how short it is, short hair is actually a pain in the butt while exercising, because it’s nearly impossible to keep it out of your face.

      • That! Short hair really suits me but it’s a bear to maintain. Far more frequent visits to the hair dresser, more frequent washing and actual need to style. Give me enough length that I can stick it in a ponytail and forget it.

      • Little_Olive

It’s what deters me every time I grab the scissors (yes, I cut my own hair). Especially since my head is so small I’d have to give myself a blowout every day to avoid looking like a wet mouse.

        • ryenerman

This is me. I have a pin head so short or sleek hair styles make my head look ridiculously small for my body. It’s . . . not attractive.

      • ashtangajunkie

I love having short hair – I find it much easier than when it was long. But I have weird, horrible natural waves that I either had to flat iron within an inch of their life or curl into something acceptable every single day. It takes me about 5-6 minutes now, including blow drying. I can’t ever go back now that I’ve discovered those extra 15 minutes of sleep in the morning.

    • Kimmu

Oh me too! I had thigh length thick curly hair for almost my entire life, and then 3 years ago I decided to cut it all off. I told my hair stylist to get out the electric clippers.

Once that weight was off of my head, I had never felt so free in my life, and I can’t imagine ever growing it back out. It touches my ears now and I’m like ugh this shit is getting too long!

  • Constant Reader

If I’d been able to go outside today dressed all springtime-ish and cute without freezing to death, I’d be smiling too.

  • alyce1213

Very expensive clothing adding up to a totally schlumpy look. The skirt is bulky and too long, the t-shirt (as noted) is wonky.
She should have left those shoes in the car, they’re fine for driving but awful with this outfit.

    • mshesterp

I think the whole thing looks frumpy–does that skirt look too big?–and Anne is anything but frumpy.

  • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

“La la la, so much fun to have lunch with my friend…can you see the bag?”

  • Anna

We’ve had yet another snowstorm in my city, so I’ll take the chocolate and the warm weather. She can keep everything else.

  • sagecreek

I like those little purple loafers, but I don’t think they go with that dress.

  • Laura Renee

Really wishing right now that my job was to go shopping in the LA sun while wearing cute outfits.

  • lexilexi

I don’t like anything about this look… sorry Uncles.

  • Alyssa

Miss the bitchface, love the headband and bag. I’m glad she’s kept her hair short, it suits her really well. Her shoes look comfy, like she actually is running real errands in them.

  • Danielle

Those sunglasses look like the 3D ones they give you at the theater. Let’s not even pretend we saw those shoes.

  • NDC_IPCentral

Hear, hear for short hair! As Tom and Lorenzo know, my hair is little-boy short, and I love it. Shows off the bone structure and is a snap to care for. Ms. Hathaway looks sharp and distinctive with her short bob, so I hope she keeps it. No spaniel hair for her, and I say HURRAY.

    • alyce1213

I’m concerned — are you facing an ordeal getting home today?

      • NDC_IPCentral

alyce, how thoughtful of you! I don’t work in the City, I’m north of it in Westchester County. Yes, I do take Metro-North, and the train schedules are altered today, but I should be able to manage the three stops south to my station, just don’t know when the train will arrive. It was a terrible accident, and a M-N southbound train was traveling by on the Park Avenue trestle as the explosion occurred. Anecdotes say the train shook as though it had been broadsided.

I walk in that area from 125th St. south to Mt Sinai for appointments with my gynecological oncologist, usually w on 125th and then south on Madison. That’s only a block west of the explosion site, so had I been powering along there today I sure would have heard and felt it.

I do know of others who have commuting problems with all of this today. Gas leaks are dangerous, and this one was deadly.

        • alyce1213

It’s good you won’t be caught in the chaos. I feel for those who are — so many commuters — and it goes without saying, all involved in the awful event.

          • NDC_IPCentral

M-N just sent out an announcement that service has been restored to all three lines, but there will be delays. If push really came to shove, I have a pair of sneakers here, and socks, so I could don them and walk the ~ five miles home. I keep the gym shoes here for these sorts of commutation catastrophes. Haven’t had to use ’em yet, but it probably is only a matter of time and circumstance.

  • I’m so happy she hasn’t grown her hair out! It’s really, really nice to see more female celebrities representing pixie cuts.

  • B_C_J

Shoes are horrific with this outfit. A black Chanel flat would have been preferable. The skirt looks a bit large on her but it’s attractive & she looks comfortable.

  • rosie5215

Bitchface needs bitch pants. It’s hard to stop around like a badass while wearing a voluminous below the knee skirt.

  • jilly_d

I love the headband. And bag. and shoes. But I will admit that shirt looks like something my father wears to work. *drumrolllll*…….my father digs holes in the ground for a living.

  • marlie

I love her skirt. And the bag is a perfect pop of color, though the shoes are too much with this outfit.

  • The Versatile Chef

I’ve been in Cheebo. Looks like a bag of hipsters exploded in there.

    • ampg

Well, the too-clever-by-half name certainly suggests that vibe.

      • So it is supposed to be Cibo?

  • JauntyJohn

    This looks great.
And personally I love the different colors vis-a-vis the shoes and the bag. They compliment each other and at the risk of sounding a little “too” I think it’s kind of a witty combo.

    • Kitten Mittons

Me too! I really liked the two colors together, and it strikes the right note for me with the black and white outfit.

I don’t like the style of the shoe much, but I can forgive that for the color.

  • Gatto Nero

The clothes are pretty funky, but the bag is cute, and she looks breezy/happy. So good for her.

    • Sarah

Yeah the skirt is serving me novelty piano tie, but she looks like a normal happy person.

  • I prefer her soft butch look.

  • Vicky

Her smile made me smile. She’s adorable.

  • Daisy Buchanan

    She looks cute.

    • Kitten Mittons

      and comfy

      • Daisy Buchanan

All she needs is kitten mittons 🙂

        • Kitten Mittons

          That’s all anybody ever needs.

  • Pennymac

That shirt is all kinds of awful. Why not just a cute tank if you’re going sleeveless, Annie?

  • Zeee

I like her, but I think this looks frumpy. The skirt is cute in theory, but its too long and hits at a weird place on her leg. . The shirt is baggy and wrinkles funny. The shoes are cute, but not with this. The color against the black and white make her shins look pasty. The bag is cute, but the color is fighting with the shoes. My eyeballs are not entertained with this one.

  • MilaXX

I don’t mind her frumpy chic Spring outfit, but she can miss me with those driving mocks. A cute ballet flat would have made this look believable.

  • Jacob Bowen

I LOVE her sunglasses! Although they are no Fan BingBing bow sunglasses, they are practical and cute!

    • judybrowni

I have those sunglasses — in purple! — but I bought ’em at the 99cent store, if memory serves.

  • A Shiny O’Connor

Those shoes with this particular outfit hurt my soul. It could have been so good.

  • msdamselfly

Do the stars get these accessories (bag, sunglasses, shoes, etc) for free?

  • Trickytrisha

I’m still hating the hair, and the overall slumpy affect she often presents out on the street. However, love that bag, like the shoes a lot (with another outfit), and it’s nice to see her smile.

  • JynxTheCat

Im thinking the hair was all extensions all along.

  • nannypoo

The skirt is way too long, especially with these shoes. It’s a good idea but it comes across frumpy.

  • tallgirl1204

This is so totally a look that anyone could wear– So, I’m putting this in the same category with Olivia Wilde’s great streat look yesterday, and saying to Madge and other victims of over-styling: here, again, is how to look like a normal (albeit ridiculously rich and goodlooking) person while wearing a carefully chosen outfit.

  • J.W.

Very cute. However, she needs to invest in a new bra.

  • shopgirl716

I love her in short hair but I am also surprised she hasn’t grown it out.

  • Roz

Yikes! Leave your goofy driving loafers in the car, Anne. They make a smple look into one that is inexcusably dowdy. Shun-worthy, I say!

  • CT14

    Hate the shoes with it.

  • Middleage_Cranky

I glanced at the title to this post and my brain read Anne Hathaway launches a Cheerio in LA…….long day.

  • Middleage_Cranky

I glanced at the title to this post and read Anne Hathaway launches a Cheerio in LA…..long day.

  • Paula Pertile

She brings out the bitter in me, in spades. (Sorry Miss Anne. You can hiss back at me if we ever meet.)

  • ScarlettHarlot

I feel like she has better posture when she’s in her edgier clothes, like she has more confidence and struts like a badass instead of simpering like a twee pixie.

  • quiltrx

The skirt is really cute! I like the shoes a lot, but not with this…maybe with jeans.

  • Sabin

That is one unfortunate brassiere. Cute skirt though.

  • ChaquitaPhilly

I LOVE the shoes. Oooo… lavender…and low heels. My favorites!

  • Lots of people cut off all their hair for a role or other reason, then love it and keep it. It’s easy and versatile, and an actress can wear a wig for a role.

  • kt

She always looks a lot happier in her “high end homeless person” get ups. I think it’s the constricting clothes that make her snarl, not an inner dive ( which makes me sad, bc mean Reese is my everything). But glad for her that her clothes are comfy

  • MommyMitzi

I wouldn’t dress this frumpy to a PTA meeting at my kids’ school!

  • Ann VerWiebe

    That bag is fantastic!

  • peachy

bless her heart. without even trying, she can make even the cutest of clothes look schlumpy frumpy and mumpy.

  • Sunraya

I like this young lady. She was too much last year, yes, but she seems like one of the nicest, realest actresses around. I don’t get the Anne hate.

  • Call me Bee

Love the whole outfit–cute and casual. Except…the skirt is too long–making her legs and feet dumpy looking It needs to be a few inches shorter–just at the knee. Then…perfection.

  • RuthGo

This is one of the few times when I look at a celebrity’s outfit and think “I would, and have, totally wear something like that.” Flowy skirts like that are my go to uniform in summer and I like an interesting top like that. I’d probably go with flat sandals though. She looks cute and easy (get your mind out of the gutter).
