Amy Poehler in David Meister at the 23rd Hall Of Fame Induction Gala

Posted on March 12, 2014

It’s simple, but it’s so freaking adorable that we have to give her an “Attagirl.”

Amy Poehler attends the Television Academy’s 23rd Hall Of Fame Induction Gala in Beverly Hills, California in a David Meister dress accessorized with Charlotte Olympia ‘Polly’ pumps.

And more importantly, it suits and fits her to a T. Personally, we wouldn’t have recommended those shoes, although we could definitely get behind the shape and the idea of an animal print. It’s just that she’s working black, silver and a touch of super-bright red. That brown in the shoe clashes a little. But she looks great overall. It’s definitely a “get the job done” kind of dress for her. She should immediately go out and buy it in six colors.

I agree the shoes are a tad clashy, but they fit her (wonders!) and she looks super cute. I love the whole look and would wear it myself, which never happens! So approachably chic!

      • Tatiana Luján

Actually, her right shoe is too big for her foot.

        • Sarah

          Right you are.

          • Kitten Mittons

            Also, waffles*

            • Sarah

              Heh ;)

        • kimmeister

Most right handed people have a right foot that is slightly smaller than their left foot. I give her a pass.

    • Kitten Mittons

I would’ve shortened the dress a tad. And the eye makeup is not so bueno.

But I love the dress itself, and everything else is lovely.

Treat yoself to some pancakes, Miss Knope.

      • MilaXX

        I thought she liked waffles?

      • http://www.youtube.com/user/TheOctocornNetwork International Model

        Waffles.

    • nannypoo

Take four inches off the hem and it’s perfect. Well, maybe not the shoes.

    • @Biting Panda

Love it. Love her. Love all around.

At a distance it looks silver, but I think the colour on that detail is actually gold. I love the way the chain texture of the bangles calls out to the pattern on the dress.

      • jw_ny

yes…I’m not seeing silver up close. I was thinking it is bronze…seeing a brownish tone, which may account for her choice of shoe. Still, I don’t think the brown animal print shoes go, but they’re also not awful.

    • ThaliaMenninger

Is it a coincidence that she got a lot cuter after she dumped Will Arnett?

      • teensmom99

My totally made-up theory for a while is that Arnett was encouraging her to dress badly-perhaps to go for a comedic look. And that’s my theory re Paula Patton, too but in her case I imagine that Robin had her dress in an unflattering way because he has some Madonna/whore thing going on.

        • dschubba

I admit that it’s really reductive to pretend that women’s manner of dress (like everything, amirite?) can definitively be traced back to men, but Amy and Paula have both looked excellent since shedding their husbands.

          • Tatiana Luján

Well, if you’re unhappy, chances are you don’t look so good.
On the other hand, when people break up, they tend to think about themselves and may end up rethinking their looks, as part of that.

          • KinoEye

I don’t know if the rumors about Kanye West controlling Kim Kardashian’s appearance are true, but if so… that’s just creepy. Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo creepy. Not to mention oppressive. I’m not a fan of hers, but if he’s being forceful about her appearance, that’s a major red flag. Girl needs to run for the hills.

            • melisaurus

Seems unlikely she’s always styled herself before. It hasn’t changed too much.

              Tight skirts, boobs, heels etc

    • Gatto Nero

Not loving the shoes, which do clash and are about a size too big (see gap at the back), and I’d take a few inches off the hem.
      But otherwise great.

      • Sarah

Ha see I thought they DID fit because her toes aren’t jammed in there like a trussed ham, but now that you mention it, yeah, they are gapping in back.

    • MzzPants

      The shoes ruined my mood.

    • Noah

I was on board until the shoes. She’s clearly pleased with herself in an overall great look, though, so still an Attagirl.

    • lexilexi

WoW! She and her BFF Tina hit it out of the park today!

    • decormaven

Love everything but the shoes, but she looks so happy, it makes up for the blip. This gal is on a roll!

    • hughman

Perfect for going to The Bulge with her Pawnee geighs.

    • crash1212

Adorable. Her head’s never looked better.

    • MilaXX

I love this look and adore Amy. My only quibbles are the eye makeup bordering on consumptive and the typical case of the shoe being too big.

    • MM4321

Her hair and makeup people have been doing her a real solid lately.

    • dschubba

I love this neckline on her.

    • Guest

      ahh crap

    • clatie

LOVE IT. LOVE HER. microphone drop.

    • marlie

Attagirl! Her hair and makeup look great, and the dress fits her perfectly. But I hate the shoes.

    • YourBaloneyDontGotNoSecondName

She always looks like there are, were, or will soon be shenanigans. This is the kind of gal I’m OK with stealing my sweaters and shirts.

    • elemspbee

Oh the shoes–trying too hard and it does not go well with the dress.

    • msdamselfly

      Perfect!

    • Carla_Charlton

Hate the platform of those shoes. Her hair color has improved a LOT over the past year.

    • GeoDiva

Burn the shoes and I’m on board!

    • SorayaS

I’m going to give her a pass for the shoes because in the close up it seems the detail is actually more gold-toned which doesn’t clash with her leopard print at all

    • Josefina Madariaga Suárez

I should hate the eye makeup, but it works on her.

    • Stella Zawistowski

My favorite part is the look on her face — as though she’s seen a mirror and said to herself, “Attagirl.”

    • carnush

Her head looks spectacular. Just gorgeous. Go Amy!

    • JaymeKay

Her eyes look like she needs a dose of allergy medicine and the dress should be shorted to the knee.

    • Sam Smith

I actually luv the eye makeup and am trying to figure out what color was used.

    • OffToSeeHim

I love that she obviously loves how great she looks. With her and Tina, you can always tell when they know they look awkward. Mindy Kaling too – I guess pretty much anybody who’s still got a little “regular person” underneath the glamazon.

    • KinoEye

Loving everything going on here, but I had the same reservations about the shoes. That hair is just so soft and pretty, though. Might be the best hair I’ve seen her with in a while.

    • peachy

yep, the shoes are OUT, but the dress is IN. she seems to like unfussy, easypeasy clothes (me too) and this one fits the bill and looks nice on her too. less of a slouchy sweatpant mom and more of a hey-i’m-a-cool-mom-with-supercool-kids-and-a-really-fun-job.

    • MaggieMae

Yes to the get it in six colors. That is so her dress!

    • kimmeister

If she wanted to stick with the animal print shoes, I would’ve gone with something like green snake shoes.

    • Dagney

hemline. she needs a sleeker shoe. get ride of Emmy Rossum’s makeup artist.

    • formerlyAnon

      Love everything but the shoes.

    • frannyprof

She looks so pleased with herself!

    • traceyishere

Is it me, or does she look high?

    • K. Lee

I’d like it better if it was hemmed a skosh, but she looks adorable.

    • amaranth16

Way too much leg spray tan. She looks like two different people!
I despise her eye makeup here – it looks like she has been crying for days.
I am not crazy about these semi-halter necklines that she seems to favor. They look very athletic-wear to me.
