T Lo’s New York Fashion Week Essentials

Posted on February 04, 2014

Darlings, we got to put together a fun and fab little piece for The Daily Beast on our “12 Fashion Week Essentials.”

The second we were asked to do it, we replied with “Is it okay if we’re smartasses about it?” To which came an enthusiastic “YES” in reply. And you know us, we never miss a chance to be smartasses. Of course we also dropped a ton of names and showed off all our favorite items because we’re shallow that way, but we think it all does a fairly good job of capturing that “frantic + fabulous” vibe of the week, if you’re one of the people working your way through each day. Go and check out the whole thing, including Lorenzo’s fabulous picture-taking.

“Is it okay if we’re smartasses about it?” – if they didn’t want smartasses, they don’t know you very well!

    • Ramon Figueroa

Fabulous as usual. The pictures are wonderful and the commentary is hilarious (loved the one about the shoes). I want that plaid man bag yesterday. Thank Lupita I am away from food, because that last picture makes me want to hold up a Dunkin Donuts.

      • Anna

Ha! “Thank Lupita,” love it! I am now going to work that into every conversation I possibly can today.

        • Constant Reader

          Me too!

    • Deedles

Nice to see a photo of the 1020 (article says 1520). It’s a piece of technology near and dear to my heart and it makes me happy to know it’s getting love out in the world!

Is that the flat white thing with a big black circle on it? I’m assuming it’s a camera, but I almost don’t care. It looks fabulous, and I want to carry one around. (I s’ppose I should eventually find out what it is, so I don’t try to answer it when someone’s phone rings.)

        • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

Until I read the article I assumed it was a set of scales for watching your carb-deprived weightloss.

          • lobsterlen

I suppose since its so dry and wintery I wanted it be some sort of sleek stylish very portable humidifier.

        • Deedles

It’s a 41MP camera. I could see how it would be great for runway shots because it’s small-ish (well, compared to a DSLR with a similar specs) and fantastic in low/mixed light.

      • http://www.tomandlorenzo.com/ Tom and Lorenzo

        Yes, it’s a 1020. We asked them to fix it. : )

    • lexilexi

Have fun uncles – am sure you’ll be the toast of the town with the BIG book release the same week! Enjoy every carb.

    • HVM

      Carbs FTW.

    • carnush

Yay fashion week! I’m so looking forward to hearing your gripes about it. And going to your book signing on Thursday!

    • Isabel

I hope you run into Norman Reedus to compare clothes – loved your Walking (But chic) Dead comment.

    • Cee Layton

      Power strips. Brilliant.

    • alyce1213

      You guys are on fire!

    • formerlyAnon

Ain’t y’all just the bee’s knees! Seriously. Entertaining and indeed, nice photos. I liked the shoes the best.
Unknown Designer you really like.: You’ll never make it. (snerk!)

And, yes. God wants you to eat and wants you to enjoy it and if that means carbs . . .

    • Rhonda Shore

I love it! And you know what i love even more? Just got an amazon email telling me a copy of your book is in the mail!

    • Frank_821

have fun. I’m in partial envy. Only partial since I don’t miss snow

    • MasterandServant

A perfect list- it has been brutal here, and the new mayor has not been doing the best of jobs with snow removal. So pack those ugly boots….or find a cute pair that is also utilitarian!

    • Anna

I also have a Kieh’s lip balm and carbs addiction (the delicious flavours of the Kiehl’s do nothing to curtail the latter for me, however). Love the photos and can’t wait for the coverage!

    • NDC_IPCentral

Good advice for any wintry business trip, I’m thinking. Snow boots, though, are a must, since more snow’s predicted for New York and environs tonight and there are whispers of a big ‘un to clobber us over the weekend. Curbs and roadways are not always down to black, so snow, slush, icy puddles and salt/snow-melt put glamorous footwear in peril.

Really looking forward to seeing you two, and meeting a crowd of BKs, on Thursday night.

Manhattan BK book-signing attendees – who’s up for a little food ‘n’ drink afterwards?

      • bitchybitchybitchy

that sounds like a fab idea-I’ll be with y’all in spirit-drink something lovely for me!

        • NDC_IPCentral

If it is going to be a slushy, snowy and treacherous underfoot as I have a sneaking suspicion that it will be, I’ll toast you, B3, but prudently; no desire to court a tumble!

          • bitchybitchybitchy

thanks, and yes, be a prudent BK! We want you safe and sound!

    • NDC_IPCentral

Oh! CONGRATULATIONS on the book’s debut today!

    • WendyD

Love it all! So proud and happy and everything for you both 😀

    • kbshee

What notebooks are pictured? They are lovely.

    • RussellH88

Because of this I am now using my work time to look at possible man bags for me to buy.

      • luluransom

        Me too!! And I’m not even a man… 😉

    • Kent Roby

#10, Thank you! Several times I’ve been at competitions (mostly dance) where the parent in front of me holds up an ipad to video the whole performance, which is the equivalent of holding their hands over my eyes. My first gentle response is generally, “Um, excuse me, but I, and everyone in the 10 rows behind me, would actually like to see some of this performance, which we paid to see”. People are insane.

    • Musicologie

It’s been amazing (and inspiring) to watch you guys go from being fans to bloggers with opinions that some people take seriously to part of the establishment itself. Each year, your Fashion Week posts show how far you’ve come. Congratulations, you two!

    • boweryboy

      That was fun.

    • decormaven

Love the lip balm suggestion- that stuff works wonders. Also much love for the Jonathan Adler candle. Grapefruit is wonderful scent as well.

    • bitchybitchybitchy

Carbs-because God wants you to have them! Love it. Great little piece, great photos by Lorenzo, well done, Uncles!

    • MilaXX

    • HeatherMcIlrath

awesome article! love the note about the carbs… God does want me to have them

    • mmebam

      Powerstrips FTW!

    • Laura Renee

Ooooh! Are those shoes all ones you own?

    • Sara__B

I enjoyed every word and photo. Good work, guys!

Remember to hydrate! Coffee is not everything!

    • txngyrrl

Great list – starts with coffee and ends with carbs!

    • NancyRing

Great post both here and there! The reflection on the sunglasses is interesting!

    • Carly Warnock

Smart call on the power bar. That’s pure genius.

Love the Daily Beast piece and LOVE the attention you’re getting! ♥

    • mdcoon127

Are you getting paid to promote these, or do you really use them?

      • http://www.tomandlorenzo.com/ Tom and Lorenzo

We are not getting paid by anyone except The Daily Beast and we really do use everything on the list because we own everything on the list.

    • Andrea Terese

TLo, love that you love the Nokia 1020. It’s my absolute favorite new gadget.
