Marion Cotillard for Interview Magazine

Posted on February 25, 2014

Kittens, we feel like we’ve been remiss in bringing you your Pretty of the Day. We don’t do it as often as we should. Here’s some mega-pretty to make up for it: Marion Cotillard, at her super-Frenchiest, working the shit out of old Hollywood glamour.

Marion Cotillard covers the March 2014 issue of Interview magazine photographed by Craig McDean and styled by Karl Templer.

Christian Dior Spring 2014 Collection

Proenza Schouler Spring 2014 Collection

Lanvin Spring 2014 Collection

She’s serving up Garbo and Crawford and Dietrich and we are HERE FOR IT. We wish we had a daily calendar that was nothing but high fashion shots of Marion Cotillard, done up like various goddesses of the silver screen.

I’m all in for the creator of that calendar – someone fire up a Kick starter on that immediately!

    • Alyssa

Let me know when it’s ready…I want one!

    • embers618

TLO productions presents: Your Pretty Of The Day, a calendar of High Fashion shots for 2015

  • Susan Wheeler

I would totally buy that calendar. She is beyond stunning.

  • Meg0GayGuys6

Oh Marion, how I’ve missed you so! You look FABULOUS! Come sit next to me and tell me what you’ve been up to! Love the lip color, girl!

Nothing like a Miley day to remind me how much I miss this.

  • Alfred Cox

Love the Old School Hollywood drag they have her in. No one could make that hideous Lanvin frock look good besides Le Cottillard. Bravo.

  • Anna

    I worship.

I have to admit relief though that the Dior was photographed from the shoulder up and the focus on the cover is that glorious face.

    • marlie

That Dior looks like an arts and crafts project.

      • Anna

Indeed. I applaud the individual who made the call to show as little of it as possible. It looks romantic almost on the cover (but that’s entirely due to Marion), but then the runway shot is pure, “Hell, no.”

        • makeityourself

Let’s have her lying down in this one, and seated in this one, and then for the cover we’ll be cropping really tight, so we don’t have to worry about the big drape that cuts her in half.

And then let’s shoot this one underwater; we’ll put her in a car for that one and for the final shot we’ll have to bury her in sand at the beach so that only her head sticks out. Yes, that should do it.

      • StarburstLady

I can picture poor Jennifer Lawrence stuck in it on the red carpet already…

    • demidaemon

      My thoughts exactly.

  • Imasewsure

I’m seeing Tallulah darling, as well… LOVE

  • Jen

She’s so totally stunning. My girl crush along with Keira Knightley :)

  • SugarSnap108

    Gorgeous. Bless this post.

  • marlie

Her hair and makeup. Just BEAUTIFUL. I love the second look on her, but I’m not in love with the first or third. But really… I barely glanced at the clothes because that FACE.

  • KT

Someone get to work on that calendar, pronto! When opportunity knocks, you ouvert la porte!

That Proenza Schouler dress is fabulous, and looks so great on her.

    • Sarah

Yeah, that dress gives me LIFE. But needle scratch on those runway shoes!

      • KT

  • KateShouldBeWorking

I’m gonna do my make-up like that tomorrow. No doubt I will be just as – nay, more! – fabulous than Marion. I will also win the lottery and ride a unicorn to work.

    • Gatto Nero

You’re going to work after winning the lottery?

      • KateShouldBeWorking

Only to brag about my wealth, show off my unicorn, and blast fabulous all over the place. It will not be classy but it will be fun.

        • SierraDelta

I presume you’ll use the happiness shining from your eyes to melt the snow off the roads on the way home from work.

          • FrigidDiva

She wouldn’t even have to do that much work. Unicorns fart rainbows and sunshine, which would automatically melt the snow 😉

          • SierraDelta

Do you think it would have the same effect on Polar Vortexes?

  • @Biting Panda

  • Ashleigh

She brings all of those dresses to LIFE! How amazing.

  • ballerinawithagun

    Yes to that calendar!

  • ElaineMarie34

I think the words “femme fatale” were made to describe these pics. Gorgeous. In front of those amazing screens…you could write some stories about this woman.

  • alyce1213

For the calendar — she’d do Mary Astor SO well. And the other Mary (Pickford) and Theda Bara.

  • zenobar

Ow ow owowowowowwww all the pretty! It’s actually hurting me! (In a good way.)

  • Evan

It’s amazing how they can make ugly frocks look great just by how they crop or style an image or the angle they choose to shoot it from.

    • conniemd

This totally. I guess that’s what the term “editorial” means.

  • MilaXX

She makes every one of these awkward dresses look infinitely better in each shot.

  • BrooklynBomber

    I absolutely j’adore her.

  • jilly_d

amazing FACE. Who was it that wore that hideous blue Dior on the red carpet a while back? Hated it then, hate it now.

  • random_poster

Beautiful way to end the day. Merci,TLo et Mlle. Marion.

  • judybrowni

    Fug dresses, in the main.

But Mlle. Marion makes ’em WERQ!

  • SuzBald

  • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

I would buy that calendar in a NY minute.

  • SketchyCat

She actually makes that Lanvin dress look luxe and elegant. That’s pure fashion alchemy (straw : gold :: fug : fabulous).

  • olsonam

Dior franken-dresses – a couple years behind the trend.

  • VicD

She looks SO much better than the models in all of those. It’s a gift.

  • quiltrx

Love it…takes quite a woman, and quite a photographer, to make sort-of-impossible dresses look great.

  • SewingSiren

All stunning, but the Proenza Schouler is to die. Now I deeply regret not have bought the black sweater skirt with vertical white stripes at Buffalo Exchange.

  • Kristin McNamara

That dark lipstick in all the shots is giving me a distinct Kat Dennings vibe. In fact, I could’ve mistaken her for KD in the first two pics. Interesting likeness I’d never noticed before these pics…

  • icm

    she gives good face

  • demidaemon

I love that the first shot is completely of her face (a GORGEOUS shot, nonetheless) and totally ignores the Dior she’s wearing. How apropos.

  • decormaven

I get a Norma Shearer/George Hurrell vibe from these. So beautiful- the MUA did excellent work, putting the crowning touches on this exquisite canvas.

  • Jacob Bowen

She is on my ALWAYS LOVE list. I could have a “Marion Cotillard Works a Snuggie” calendar and I would be happy.

  • Danielle

I need her and Dita to lunch. My head would explode.

  • Stella Zawistowski

That is a talented photographer and a beautiful woman making some seriously ugly dresses look like a million bucks. The cover shot is genius. That dress is ugly as sin at full length but looks just fine as a close-up.

  • ashtangajunkie

I would buy that calendar. Cotillard makes me wish I were French.

  • stubbornthoughts

  • Kate Andrews

I love the second photo! Gorgeous. My only wish is that we had a shot of her standing in the third look. I’m not sure that’s a dress for sitting in.

  • DTLAFamilies

She’s stunning. The dresses are hiddy.

  • Sofia Bentivoglio

Lord have mercy. This woman knows she can take a picture!

  • PeaceBang

The cover literally gave me shivers, and I’m using literally correctly.

  • Beto

Absolutely perfect. And I totally support the idea of the calendar, I will buy it in a heartbeat

  • Clash D

That cover is stunning – thank gawd for the close crop cos the actual dress (in all its runway glory) is whackity-whack. Can’t believe it’s a Dior.

  • fiddlecub

Am I alone in thinking that she and Katy Perry bear a striking resemblance to each other? I had never noticed it before, but if you had told me this was a glammed-up Katy Perry, I may not have noticed it was actually Marion.

  • Michelle Gennari

    She’s gorgeous!

  • colorjunky

    Excellent work!
