Lacoste Fall 2014 Collection

Posted on February 09, 2014

Chic sportswear with the emphasis on “sport.” That’s what you’re going to expect with a Lacoste show and they didn’t disappoint. With an emphasis on layering and color, as well as a subtle callback to the genteel, aristocratic, golf-and-tennis sportsmen and sportswomen of a different era, the show offered up simple, stylish, wearable pieces with a slightly jet-setting flair to them. Loving the patterned sweaters.

I NEED THAT FIRST OUTFIT <3 windbreakers <3

Ir’s a bit too country club for me but I lie a few pieces here and there. The zig zag tan/gray and gray/white.brown pieces are my favs.

    • TropiCarla

Yes. I must have that “zig zag” dress.

  • Oh that burgundy coat!

The Beautiful People are going to be looking snappy.

  • SierraDelta

The colors just seem so . . .drab.

TLO MUST STOP SHOWING SWEATERS! That is just an act of cruelty. I live in Texas so I can only wear a sweater two days a year. Except when I go to look for a sweater on those two days, I discover that they have been pilfered by everyone I know.

Lacoste sweaters, that just makes it hurt worse. I love Lacoste. I won’t admit that part of the reason I love Lacoste has anything to do with The Official Preppy Handbook, because I just won’t admit to something so shallow.

COOL. I can’t with the sportsuits or sweatshirt dresses, though.

At first I thought, “Ah yes, that mint green windbreaker-rain jacket-dress is just what I need for trail running!” But then I remembered… Rain + trails + running = mud splatters, so now I am torn. How does one reconcile one’s fictional wardrobe with one’s actual life? Maybe I’ll just have the mint green rain slicker instead…

Makes you wonder what Lacoste would have done with the US winter olympics uniforms in terms of sweaters…

I would disown a friend wearing a velveteen Lacoste sweatsuit.

    • I would disown a friend wearing a velveteen rabbit anything.

The track suits and almost anything cut like a sweatshirt are anathema to my eye, but there’s some very nice sportswear, though a lot of the women’s wear will take away any shape the wearer has and reduce her to rectangles. I think of it as stereotypical preppy lesbian sportscaster fashion.

This is definitely the season of the big chunky sweater. I don’t find the collection all that remarkable, but I’d be happy to add all of the sweaters to my wardrobe.

  • Kent Roby

With few exceptions (like the merlot coat), this collection looks really drab and uninspired to me.

  • Agent Sculder

A lot of these looks would not be out of place on the athletes in Sochi. Me like!

I’m pretty sure that sweatsuit should read “Foul Play” because I want to destroy a chunk of this collection. There are moments where I’m like, “Oooo the best of the 80’s” but there are also a lot of “ugly clothing at the Salvation Army” moments, too.

I like all of the footwear. It’s actually wearable by mere mortals!
