Katy Perry in Julien MacDonald at the 2014 Brit Awards

Posted on February 20, 2014

We dig the hell out of this for making us think of a very business-like and focused disco ball.

Katy Perry at the 2014 Brit Awards 2014 in London in a Julie MacDonald dress paired with Rupert Sanderson pumps and jewelry by Mawi and V Jewellery.

Julien MacDonald Fall 2014 Collection

The silhouette’s all “Here is the proposal for refurbishing our water pumping stations by 2024″ , the neckline’s all “Check THESE puppies out,” (which isn’t exactly new territory for Miss Katy), and the beading is all “WOOT! WOOT! BITCHES TO THE DANCE FLOOR, YO!!”

Which means we love it.

It’s pretty great stage-wear. Also glad to see she’s got that hair under control since we last saw it

    • random_poster

      I dig it. It’s fab stage-wear.

    • Meg0GayGuys6

And that is *her* hair, right? I’m not good at pointing out wigs, but something about this hair in the first shot, especially, looks a little wiggy to me.

      • Adrianna Grężak

Yeah it looked like it to me, but I’m guessing it’s not b/c she’s had that haircut in previous pics. I just think the hair was styled perfectly b/c she was going to be on stage

  • nannypoo

I love it too. Sometimes I wish I were a celebrity so I could wear stuff like this.

  • cmb92191

    Great dress! But why bangs?

    • Sarah

      Whyever not?

  • filmcricket

    Cleopatra addresses the boardroom.

    • http://www.youtube.com/user/TheOctocornNetwork International Model

There was another outfit that sirs T&Lo featured with Katy that had a Cleopatra look as well that was gorgeous – she should run with this look.

  • Danielle

Not in love with her wig but that’s a minor quibble.

  • Sarah

Ooh, I lurve it. I also lurve how there’s illusion netting actually doing the job of being illusory. Hells yeah.

    • sojourneryouth

IKR? HATE illusion netting, especially when it has seams, which defeats the purpose in my little mind. But it is perfect here. Love everything about this dress and how well it shows Katy’s bangin’ bod.

      • Sarah

Yes ma’am. She looks like the fiercest Vice President of Futuristic Wastewater Management and Dance Parties I’ve EVER SEEN. I definitely want to Be Her, and I don’t usually give a flying fig what she do.

    • NYCGlamourpuss

That is perfect illusion netting, because I didn’t even realize it was there till you said so!

  • JasmineAM

    Hate the hair.

  • SophiaPehawkins

When I was four, I had my pre-k class in the afternoon. So my dad worked overnights to take me to class. One day he was sleeping and I took a pair of scissors and cut my own bangs. My dad woke up and tried to fix it. He gave me half-inch bangs and a very short bob cut. It looks like the same thing happened to Katy Perry.

    • sagecreek

Oh, c’mon. Really? You don’t think it works with the Look?

      • http://www.snoskred.org/ Snoskred

Bangs like this are the reason I have had one appointment stands with many a hairdresser and a desperate need for an eyebrow wax before leaving the salon.

It might work with this look – everything else about which I LOVE – but for Katy’s sake I am hoping that is a wig or fake hair of some kind. Otherwise she’ll wake up the next morning and desperately want to borrow the Shia LeBeouf I am not famous anymore paper bag it until it grows out. Especially if it is all sticking up and all about the place.

For me, this hair is a Girl I hope that is not *your* hair look. :)

        • understateddiva

I hate those bangs on her so much. She has such a gorgeous high forehead.

      • SophiaPehawkins

It looks real homemade, which I don’t think really ever works. She has money and should be able to do better. I was being hyperbolic with my story, but my point still stands, I think.

    • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ Alicia

It sounds like your dad did a better job rescuing your hair than my mum did when I attempted the same thing.

  • Rand Ortega

    Toot Toot Beep Beep!
Love the juxtapose between conventional & disco fabulous. & the hair is vintage Michelle Pfieffer in Scarface (black instead of blond)

    • KateShouldBeWorking

Bless you. I sincerely hope I have that song stuck my head for days.

  • deelup

So much fun. Like what the Vice President of Oz should wear.

  • sagecreek

I love it, too. I was never on the Katy Perry train in her early days, but I love the way she has re-invented herself.

  • enchanted216

No. That neckline is incredibly unflattering!

    • Tatiana Luján

Her boobs look sad. I dig everything else, though.

    • kimmeister

It would look so much better if the V ended two inches higher. Also, if it didn’t mash her bust.

  • Glam Dixie

I wish those magnificent ta-tas were getting the lift and support they deserve instead of being smooshed down. It gives me a sad. Otherwise, this is so fabulous.

    • Sarah

I don’t think the ta-tas look bad, per se. They just look really large. Which they are, so I’m not bothered by it. But I’m also blinded by disc-fabness, which tends to screw up my judgment.

      • Robin Murray

Large is not a problem — large and low is. In one picture it looks like the girls are making a break for her elbows.

        • Sarah

Yeah, I get that folks think that they’re too low. I don’t see it. I’m thinking about boobs I’ve seen in much weirder spots, and considering the rather expansive amount of flesh on display, I feel they’re wrangled pretty well. That’s just my opinion, though. As I said, I may be forgiving the dress because I like it so well.

    • Alloy Jane

I think it’s because they’re being flattened. Her boobs are being squashed again.

  • Jean Beaton Leavitt

Emerald slippers are better than ruby slippers…love this.

  • kimmeister

The office of a fashion magazine, or on an 80′s soap opera, maybe. Definitely not a silhouette worn in offices around here.

  • Trickytrisha

“the neckline’s all “Check THESE puppies out” – Well, those puppies are headed toward the waist in this case. Heavy materials don’t do much for the perky factor.

  • stubbornthoughts

Fun dress, but it is doing no favors for her twins. Sagfest.

  • Imasewsure

Her gays have got to be having a lot of fun. Love this (although I think I prefer the more “tasteful” and “muted” tone of the FMO version). Never change KT. You are much appreciated in a sea of boring

  • colleenjanel

    <>
That is SO completely random, yet I love it because that’s exactly what I do for a living! Only I never dress quite like that!!!

    • GeoDiva

      Me too!

    • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ Alicia

      You should start! It’s amazing.

    • Kayceed

I bet you’d win more proposals if you did. ;)

      • colleenjanel

        Damn, you’re probably right!

  • Janet B

    Love.

  • Susan Velazquez

    I love that description!

  • AmeliaEve

Love the dress but why is her face a completely different color from her chest. You’d think she would know how to manage making up her cleavage by now.

    • Sarah

The chest is a different color because of the illusion netting there – could that be the discrepancy you’re noticing?

      • AmeliaEve

Could be. It just looks… off.

  • Miss wks

    Girl’s got some nice cans…

  • alyce1213

I love it too. She’s looking just great lately.

  • KT

Ooooh I love this look. She just looks hot, straight up. Makeup is gorgeous too, though that wig needs to go.

  • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

I love how the beading enhances her curves. It’s stagewear at it’s outrageous best.

  • frumpybiscuits

Is it me or does the sparkle arc near her midsection not flatter her? I feel like it’s suggesting a belly that does not exist.
To the people who are down on bangs: FRINGE4EVAH. I think she looks super super cute and cool, even her shoes are working for me.

    • KateShouldBeWorking

It’s odd on the model too. I don’t know why you’d put a concave arc so near – but not matched – to the natural concave arc of a woman’s body. But dress design is not in my wheelhouse so what do I know?

  • jilly_d

I like the *idea* of this, but I don’t find it particularly flattering. It’s giving her….very….tall boobs.

  • Skippymom1

The shoes are knock out – and loving the dress for the venue. :)

  • MilaXX

I love this on her. I must add, whoever does her makeup is earning their pay.Her face almost always looks good. If this is the result of her alleged 90 face routine, it’s worth it.

    • MaggieMae

      Her make-up is amazing.

  • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

I don’t love it, but I understand that it really works as stage wear.

  • marlie

This is gorgeous! I love this dress!

  • SophieCollier

Gawjuss! Queen of the Nile vibe.

  • quiltrx

I like it! Probably wouldn’t work anywhere but on stage (but as they say, knowing (that) is half the battle, right?). I like how the beading accentuates her curves, which seems to keep the dress itself from being too visually heavy.

  • cocohall

I like it but I wish it was floor length. It just seems a bit off balance on her. When you have boobs that large, you need to create a visual counterpoint to all that bodaciousness.

  • MoHub

I’m getting a very Byzantine vibe—except for the overly displayed upper frontals.

  • Sally Spannagle

Love it. I also like the hair this length better when it’s straight/blunt like it is here. She looks happy and pleased with herself – as she should!

  • Alyssa

    Love the dress!

  • KinoEye

Perfect Katy Perry awards ceremony dress. Attention-grabbing and revealing. The bangs still need a re-think, though.

  • http://victoriapavlova.com Victoria Pavlova

Her boobs are not amused. But great dress.

  • Joanna

I absolutely love the shoes with this dress. And the dress itself. And all things Katy Perry. And I am not ashamed to admit it.

  • PastryGoddess

    Luv this

  • FrigidDiva

She looks like the showgirl/Vegas version of Cleopatra, and I mean that in the most complimentary way. Love it.

  • Noah

This may be my favorite thing she’s ever worn. Granted, that’s not a high bar because I’ve hated most things she’s worn, but still…

  • Diego!

Love it as a stage wear. Her tits look huge! haha

  • NYCGlamourpuss

THIS looks amazing on her! Love the shoes, the dress, the hair, the makeup, the boobs, all of it! I’m the one around here who generally complains about her gradual move away from kooky, but this time, her stylist got it right. It’s not so far in the “normal and sophisticated” direction that you totally lose Katy in the look.

  • suzq

Great dress. Love her choice of shoes over that of the model. Not digging the Egyptian hair, but hey, she could put a mop on her head and rock it. She’s superhuman. The “twittersphere” was not kind about her performance that night, alas.

  • ThaliaMenninger

I don’t like the boob smash.

  • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

Her eyebrows are always so perfect.

  • http://www.lippsisters.com/ Deborah Lipp

She wears it better than the runway model and I LOVE the makeup.

  • Columbinia

Nah, don’t love it. It makes me feel a little bit of pity for her. I hope it looked better in motion.

  • Anna

See, I think if Claire Underwood were to have battle armour, it would look something like this.

  • VicksieDo

    Love it!

  • Kent Roby

She looks terrific here! But did she have trouble walking with the tightness of the skirt? Or did she come out on a bedazzled Hoveround?
