Freida Pinto at the Michael Kors Fall 2014 Show

Posted on February 13, 2014

We’ll tell you what: you are looking at some Oscar-caliber acting going on in these pictures.

Freida Pinto attends the Michael Kors Fall 2014 show in New York City in a Michael Kors Spring 2014 outfit.

Because when we walked out of the venue after this show it’s quite possible we howled in pain at the bone-shattering cold. Although it’s equally as possible that we were only howling inside our heads. The point is, it wasn’t just cold, it was hellcold. It was “the vast emptiness of outer space” cold. It was “Save your tears for Jesus because they’re only gonna freeze on your face here” cold. And we were fully bundled up with practically no skin showing. Unlike Miss Frieda here, who’s dressed for poolside. Don’t get us wrong, we LOVE the outfit and we think she looks amazing. She stood out like a beacon in the room (which was, like all Michael Kors shows, heavy on the beacons in attendance). We just think it’s insane that she actually walked outside like this – and with a smile on her face, to boot. That, kittens, is a PRO.

What a beautiful dress. She’s a total pro. Display the clothes, weather be damned!

  • sagecreek

    What a weird little cutout.

    • sojourneryouth

And an awkward slit. She still looks good, but I would love to close the belly gulf and lower that slit just a tidge.

      • ballerinawithagun

        One or the other please.

      • Monabel

        By several tidges.

      • formerlyAnon

That cutout is in just such a weird under boob, upper abdomen place.

      • Lucía Gavello

I was looking at Blake Lively’s outfit and apparently the Duchess is all about the slit now… and now I proceed to apologise for the horrible pun.

      • ShaoLinKitten

Apparently front slits are the order of the day for the Duchess of Orange.

  • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

She is clearly biting the inside of her lip to keep from screaming though.

I am not convinced by the ab window or the height of the front slit in the skirt. But without them, it’d be a fairly dull dress in a nice print.

    • Danielle

I am so unhappy with the height of the slit I can’t even enjoy my coffee.

      • demidaemon

I’m just unhappy with it. I have nothing to distract me from the pain.

    • Jacob Bowen

That’s what it is! An ab window! I keep wondering how they are going to modify the crop-top/skirt combo anymore, and this is a new version that we DON’T need! That dress is BEAUTIFUL though and I LOVE those shoes!

    • FrigidDiva

Agreed. I’m really not all about the weird cutouts in general. I always wonder, what does one look like when they sit down in something like that? I don’t care how skinny you are, unless you have abs of steel there’s no way you’re not going to look like you have a stomach pooch because skin does tend do that. Of course, that’s the assumption that these people have skin and stomachs that follow the laws of nature.

      • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

With the cutout that high, I think if you sit up very straight and suck in your stomach it’d be ok, but the lower down cut outs I agree with you – t’ain’t natural.

    • fursa_saida

Yeah, you can see she’s got “DO NOT SHIVER” shoulders.

  • MaggieMae

She is a gorgeous woman, but truth be told, I often don’t care for what she’s wearing. Oh well.

    • Erica

Yes, she often looks gorgeous in SPITE of what she’s wearing–like here. But, maybe if she dressed better we would then be thunderstruck by her beauty, and who needs that, right?

  • ConnieBV

Her nose isn’t even red. That’s inhuman.

  • Ginger

That dress has issues that I just can’t sign off on. That weird cutout is one of them. The other glaring issue is the fit in the chest area. Her boobs haz a sad.

  • mcbishop

I don’t even see goosebumps. How is that possible? Is this something like walking on hot coals, in reverse? Whatever, I want that power!

  • HM3

That “camera” in the background is secretly a projectile space heater. All the stars have it. They could look beach-ready in Antarctica.

  • ovarB

Even that heavily bundled Pap had to stop and say “WTF?? You’re not cold????”

  • MzzPants

She don’t care, long as the paps get that money shot.

  • MoHub

The dress is from the Spring collection. It is not currently Spring.

  • KinoEye

I’d love this 100% without that bizarrely placed cutout and too-high slit. She’s gorgeous, but one glance at the attire of the people around her tells me she must be freezing.

  • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Not really crazy about the far too up there slit in the center front. But I do like that dress. I am quite certain that all stars are actually cold blooded, and able to adjust body temperature at a moments notice.

    • Qitkat

Somehow that chapter got left out of TLo’s book ;)

      • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

I’m sure they will include it in volume 2.

  • MilaXX

I give her major props cause like you said, it’s crazy cold. That is some serious acting! Cute color & print, but save it for July.

  • Jessica Freeman

I love the dress, but hate that slit. And girl is crazy. I know for a fact Mr. Kors also makes coats.

    • FrigidDiva

And what’s better is she’s carrying a coat in the photo! She could have put the coat on and left it open and still showed of those ghastly details of the dress and been at least quasi warm.

      • Jessica Freeman

…I didn’t even notice the coat….whoops. And you are correct. Even with the coat on we could see the shitty cut out and ridiculous slit.

  • msdamselfly

    I really like her!
Check out the contrast between her outfit and that of the photographer. One’s in Miami and the other is in Siberia

    • ballerinawithagun

The photographer will be facing the elements a lot longer than the celebrities!

  • ballerinawithagun

I had shoes similar to those about 15 years ago. Beautiful brown suede with teeny tiny black dots. They were extremely uncomfortable. The platform and heel were perfectly proportioned so it wasn’t a height issue. It was those horrible little to cutouts and the strap across the vamp. I kept them and would wear them occasionally. Finally got rid of them in my last move. It looks like the little toe is covered correctly on these. Extreme lust. I’m assuming the shoes are Kors also.

    • Qitkat

These are beautiful shoes, but I agree that they would be most uncomfortable, that many straps always are.

  • marlie

I’m shivering just looking at her. And I have a high tolerance for cold. But it’s HELLA cold in the northeast these days.

    • marlie

Oh – but she looks fabulous. I can’t wait to see this outfit in a more seasonally appropriate location/time so that I can really appreciate it.

    • Anna

I couldn’t look at her too long. I made a hot chocolate instead.

      • marlie

I just moved on to tea. This is definitely hot-beverage-weather.

        • Anna

Oh yes. I have a day off and haven’t made a proper homemade hot chocolate with melted good, dark chocolate in ages so I treated myself.

For once I feel luckier than the celebs, I get to have hot beverages, be indoors and judge them!

          • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

Hot beverages and actual delicious calories. I wouldn’t want to be them, except for the jewellery.

  • Alyssa

I tend to dislike both ab cutouts and front center slits, and this dress is no exception. I do like the print though. And I’m amazed at her ability to not have goosebumps like a normal human being.

    • 3boysful

Me, too, on all counts. Why do we need mail slots on our torsos?

  • GinaGeo

Or as JT said when he played in St. Paul on Sunday: “It’s cold as fuck here.”

  • boweryboy

It’s so ridiculous I can’t wrap my head around it. I mean, there are equally fabulous fall/winter looks from Michael Kors that she could have rocked.
I get that fashion is always ahead of the curve, but being ahead of and dressing inappropriately for the weather is one of those mindboggling things about fashion that turned me off during my very brief stint working in the industry.

Don’t get me wrong, I still love fashion just not all the bullshit that often comes with it. Geeze, I sound grumpy. . . I think I need some coffee.

    • @Biting Panda

Is she not carrying a fabulous, sumptuous looking coat? I don’t get why she didn’t at least throw it over her shoulders. And coffee is always the answer.

      • formerlyAnon

Coffee is usually the answer. Sometimes alcohol is the answer.

(And usually, more sleep is the sensible answer.)

  • Ashleigh

Maybe she was having a hot flash

    • formerlyAnon

      Hahahah.

      She’s only 29.

  • Imasewsure

Dottie Lamour would have worn a coat with this (and boots).

  • formerlyAnon

I would like this sooo much more (and I think it would look far more graceful) without the cutout front & center.
    But she is BEAUTIFUL.

  • DB Ruberto

Your description of cold has given me LIFE!

  • Adrianna Grężak

I don’t mind the slit, but I hate the cut out. (and I don’t hate cut outs as much as others) I like the dress otherwise

  • stubbornthoughts

WOW. This is so her dress.

  • DaringMiss

I like the print, but the dress is hideous. There is no way that slit doesn’t show the “good china” when you sit.

  • AzSportsGirl

And not a bit of gooseflesh in sight. Which begs a new chapter in TLo’s next opus – “Ice in her Veins” which explains how celebrities wear aseasonal clothing all the time- Ice in her veins in winter means she doesn’t feel cold when she wears CabanaClothes. Ice in her veins in summer means she has internal a/c and doesn’t feel the heat when she wears SlopeSideSuits!

    • demidaemon

      And velvet dresses in July!

  • Tracy_Flick

She’s gorgeous, and she’s working it. That goes a LONG way. I like the dress, even with the slit and ab window… but the top is doing weird things to her bustline.

  • jilly_d

I love all of this. Lolz @ “vast emptiness of space cold”

  • demidaemon

I love the story. I hate this slit. It’s THIS close to showing off her unmentionables. I am not loving the cut-out either.

Hellcold–the story of where I live.

  • shopgirl716

Her poor little toes. She is fully committed to that outfit.

  • Gatto Nero

The fit in the bust is poor. But beyond that there is weird seaming that creates the impression of sag.
Hate the slit up to there and the torso cutout. Not wild about the fabric, either.

    Michael Kors: terribly overrated.

    But I love the write-up.

  • Ann VerWiebe

I’m sure she whizzed past cold straight on to numb. She’ll probably regain feeling in her toes next week sometime.

  • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

    *gasp*

I love you California, I love you California, I love you California. Y’all are braver than me with your colder than space weather.

  • Trickytrisha

Nearly 86 degrees here in So Cal today. Maybe if I try real hard I can look as poised and perfect and downright comfortable as Freida does in 30 degree weather? (Snicker) Anyway, I adore this dress on her, minus the unnecessary front slit. It has a slight ’40s feel to it.

  • Jecca2244

my husband grew up in LA and his friends who now live in Hawaii always ask us to describe the cold in the east. I say pretend you are standing in a meat freezer, cold on the AC, start a fan, and you are getting closer.

  • SummerSquash

That camera woman behind her looks like she just braved Everest.

  • murt

She looks great but also ridiculous wearing that in the cold. What’s wrong with dressing appropriately for the weather?

  • SierraDelta

Our wussy car battery died while we were at the doctor’s office Monday afternoon. It was zero bone chilling degrees, and my husband and I had no choice but to walk home four blocks on sidewalks no one had shoveled because what idiot walks around outside when it’s that cold? To ward off hypothermia, we sought temporary shelter in a building near the halfway point because the metal bracelets jangling on the sliver of exposed wrist skin between the top of my glove and the bottom of my big fat down coat and the French wire in my earrings were conducting arctic air through my body like nobody’s business. I looked like a jewelry-less orphan in the storm by the time we stumbled across our threshold.

Ms. Pinto (or her FriedaBot) looks way better than I did, although I can’t suppress a shudder when I see all of her bare skin. Is she even human?

  • LeelaST

Really dislike that slit and bare pentagon. This actually looks like the back of many dresses…

  • Dagney

okay I’m done with cut outs.
