  • Did LEGO *need* a movie? Oh well, love this deployment of lady pants.

    • Janice Bartels

This mom is kind of excited for the LEGO movie… it looks cheeky and fun. Besides, after singing Frozen songs with my daughter for the last two months, it will be nice to see something my son will enjoy too (not that he didn’t like Frozen, just not nearly as much as my obsessed daughter). Kid friendly movies have been thin on the ground lately.

      • Danielle

My son is OBSESSED with Frozen. I love Idina as much as the next girl, but I can’t take hearing Let It Go much longer.

        • Stacy C

The soundtrack has been playing for WEEKS in our car. I’m dreading the release of the BluRay and how many times it will be watched. It tells you how great of a movie it is when little girls AND boys are obsessed with it! πŸ™‚

      • Glam Dixie

My daughter who will be 24 on Wednesday is obsessed with Frozen and sings Let It Go constantly, but then all 3 of my girls tend to have Disney movie marathons whenever they get together. Last weekend it was The Little Mermaid and Pocahontas. The youngest is 17 so I don’t know if they ever outgrow it. Mine sure haven’t.

        • marlie

I was having Disney movie marathons with my friends when we were in college, so no, they may not grow out of it. πŸ˜‰

          • Glam Dixie

I kind of hope not, it’s really sweet and they all have all of the soundtracks on their iPods and know all of the words to the songs and love to sing them. I cracks me up because I remember when we used to do that in the car when they were little and now they’re still doing it on their own in their own cars. πŸ˜‰

          • Vtg Fashion Library

Mine’s in grad school and watches them on VHS. I don’t think she and her soon-to-be-husband will ever outgrow it.

          • marlie

My college bf and I used to watch Aladdin together on an almost weekly basis, and he’d always quote/sing the Aladdin role, and of course, I’d do Jasmine.

        • conniemd

Ha. I love it. My daughter was totally Disney princess obsessed. She used to watch Cinderella over and over and over again. For Halloween I had to make Disney princess costumes. When she was in law school she saw a lamp with four rotating Disney princesses and bought it for her bedroom. I loved Disney movies growing up, but we didn’t have VHS & DVD and all the other marketing that they do now. They stored the movies in the vaults for years. I think the availability leads to the obsession.

      • merciblahblah

I was singing Let It Go at the TOP OF MY LUNGS in the car yesterday. And then I switched to In Summer, and I sang THAT at the top of my lungs. And if I’m being honest? I OWNED IT.

        • St. Ace

I bet you can’t wait to see what your buddies will think when they finally see how much cooler you’ll be in summer!

      • CPK1

My 6 year old is beside himself with excitement for the LEGO movie!! I find those weird truncated little figures weird on film but what do I know?

      • Jacob Bowen

This 23 year old BOY is OBSESSED with Frozen, and so are my fellow young teachers. In fact, we went to the sing a long Saturday (my 3rd viewing in theaters) and went out drinking after. It is the BEST classroom motivator as of recent….except that they like the Demi Lovato version of “Let it Go” better than Idina’s..,.YUCK!

    • SugarSnap108

I don’t really understand what a LEGO movie could possibly be about.

      • Jenny E

You know how Lego has those yellow square-headed versions of all kinds of popular movie characters, superheroes, and (kid) fantasy professions, like firefighters and pilots? This movie combines all of them into one giant adventure, with a generic Lego everyman hero. It looks pretty hilarious, actually.

        • Janice Bartels

It is getting really good reviews- 100% so far on rotten tomatoes.

        • SugarSnap108

Thanks – Actually I didn’t know about those square-headed beings. My Lego knowledge is limited to childhood experiences of trying to build shit with those stupid blocks and never getting anywhere. Very frustrating. You can see how I’d be puzzled over a movie version of this.

          • Exactly my problem. Other than the agony of standing on one, the limitations of trying to make curved lines out of straight blocks and the frustration that they have decided to make “girl” lego, I am a lego outsider. For me a lego movie would be watching a kid make something.

    • JasmineAM

The LEGO movie to me looks like it was based on the LEGO video games, which are awesome.

      • demidaemon

        True that.

      • I didn’t know there *were* LEGO video games!

        • marlie

Lego Lord of the Rings and Lego Harry Potter are AWESOME.

        • CPK1

Oh yes!! LEGO Batman, LEGO Starwars. You name it, they have i. Then of course there is LEGOland. It goes on….

    • Alloy Jane

The Lego Batman movie is one of my nephew’s favorites and we saw the preview for this when we went to see Frozen (loved the movie, hated the music) and I cannot WAIT to see this. It looks hilarious. So yes, the more of that there is in the world, the happier I am.

      • Lego Batman sounds fun.

      • mogoes&goes

Yes! The Lego Batman movie is hilarious – Batman is super-snarky and Superman is sort of an clueless show off – “remember, I’m Superman, I can do ANYTHING!” My 6 year old loves it and mr. mogoes&goes and I don’t mind the repeated watchings either (a rarity with children’s movies). I resisted the relentless onslaught of the Lego-ization of everything for a while, but he loves them, plays with them for hours so now I just go with it.

    • Emily Smith

Reviews for the lego movie are actually awesome. So did it need a movie? No. Does anything or anyone NEED a movie? No.

    • marlie

Does lego “need” a movie? Probably not. But as long as it’s good, I’ll let it slide. πŸ™‚

  • IraKi

I think this is really cute! She looks really fresh and pretty even though the fit of the pants is not perfect and the sun hits her face in an unflattering way.

  • “Sandy, do you ever look cool Wicked!”

    • ballerinawithagun

      Very “Grease”!

  • Danielle

Silly venue, but she looks pretty great. Trying not to be too bitter about her wearing a strapless top while I’m bundled in a snuggie and snow jacket.

  • NMMagpie

The lip color is a bit too matchy but otherwise, this looks great.

  • Glam Dixie

It’s really cute and I love that the strapless top is not sitting too low as so many of them seem to do.

  • boweryboy

She kind of looks like a lego with the color blocking and all… I love the shoes and pants, but not so much anything north of that.

  • Janice Bartels

    I’ve got chills… they’re multiplyin’…

    • Karen Belgrad

My first thought… “Tell me about it stud”…

    • Dagney

      and I’m looooosin’ control!

    • Dagney

      Jeez we are dating ourselves…lol

  • therealkuri

I love this. I really want to put a simple necklace on her (single strand Tahitian pearls or something simple like that) but that’s a small quibble.

  • amaranth16

    Cute and oh-so-venue appropriate!

  • MilaXX

A little too ONJ in Grease looking. I would have preferred a pair of Audrey Hepburn-esque flats. After all, it’s a kids movie.

    • Dagney

shoulda scrolled down before I typed! I wrote the same thing…

  • somebody blonde

LOVE. Though I wish her shoes fit her.

  • filmcricket

I wish the shoes didn’t look like they’re too big, but otherwise this is super cute.

  • Random Compliments

For me, this poor gal never gets it right.
    I hate this.

  • jilly_d

Serving up Barbie In Ladypants realness. Well played, Liz!

  • SugarSnap108

I’m not sure what LEGO-appropriate might be, but I think this is probably it. She looks cute, though the fit of the pants is off – there seems to be more crotch than necessary.

  • kimmeister

I will never see this color combo and not think of the ads for Exclamation! perfume in the 90’s (or was it 80’s?). I always did like the color combo though.

  • sagecreek

Wow, I think she looks fabulous. Especially for a LEGO movie.

  • marlie

Elizabeth looks pretty fabulous here. I LOVE the outfit. It’s a little summery, but it’s LA, so I can’t be mad.

  • Jennifer Peters-Ahnberg

I almost like it, but I can’t really say what’s missing to tip me one way or another. It’s fun, venue-appropriate and there are no egregious errors here. But maybe the hair and the lipstick aren’t the best for her?

  • Kent Roby

She looks cute and appropriate, I guess, for a movie about primary-colored toys. Meanwhile, I’m imagining Katy Perry showing up with a gown made with actual Legos, which makes me giggle.

  • schadenfreudelicious

If only she had deployed one of those Chanel Lego clutches…

    • The Counselor

And, since not, I’d like a better look at the shape of the clutch she did choose…

  • Trickytrisha

Sweet look for her, perfect for the event.

  • Pretty and fun!

  • bellafigura1

I love everything but the hair. Messy side braid, mermaid waves, anything. The close tight silhouette is crying for loose, sexy hair.

  • AuntHo

First time I have ever seen her and thought “hot”. She looks great.

  • Dagney

Serving up Sandy from Grease realness ON A PLATTAH.

  • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

Wow, if those pants were any tighter they’d be in back of her.

  • MK03

That top looks like it’s covered in tiny doody piles.

    • quiltrx

LOL I see we saw the same thing!

  • Nancer

This just doesn’t look right. Bad fit in the pants, weird pink sash at the waist, and dis congruous shades of pink. Not great.

  • quiltrx

I’m sure they’re supposed to be something else, but those look like Barbie’s cat’s turds all over her top.

  • Claudia Berry

It’s great for this movie premiere. She looks awesome.

  • AmeliaEve

Totally cute and suits the occasion. But I am really distracted by the way the tailoring of the bodice fights the print. The scale is all off. It would work with a smaller dot, or even a stripe that would emphasize all the darts and seaming. But I can’t even decipher the motif — sailboats? lips? bagels? It detracts from the boldness that makes this outfit cute.

  • acevedob

    Huh? WTF is this?

  • Perfect. So cute and so great for the event. Love it.

  • ThaliaMenninger

I’m thinking that is pretty darn perfect for the venue. I would say “adorbs” if I didn’t hate people who say “adorbs.”

  • snarkykitten

Channeling some Jane Lane realness with that hair

  • Fred Vaughn

  • Clash D

So cute and appropriate for this event. Props!
