WERQ: Reese Witherspoon in Calvin Klein at the 2014 Golden Globe Awards

Posted on January 14, 2014

To everyone who made fun of her as she struggled her way through her “Parking Lots of Penance 2013” tour (i.e., us), Miss Witherspoon kindly invites you to eat her shit.

Reese Witherspoon attends the 2014 Golden Globe Awards in Beverly Hills, California in a Calvin Klein dress accessorized with Harry Winston jewelry.

Because Miss Lady is FEELING IT at the moment and she wants us all to know that.

You WERQ that “Suck it, world” moment, girl.

  • Glam Dixie

Gorgeous color on her, hair and makeup are lovely, I wish she had on a necklace or something but I like this a lot.

  • Jennifer Schiller

Though I almost never agree with them anyways, I was STUNNED Kelly Obsorne gave this as her Worst Dressed (just as I was stunned by the other choice of Amy Adams). Because while this plays a little Miami Beach retired socialite, it looks doggone gorgeous on her. Not altogether loving the makeup but good golly Miss Molly is that fit stunning on her.

    • kimmeister

What the heck? Kelly needs to say no to crack.

      • When Kelly changes her hair colour back to human, then maybe I’ll pay attention to what she has to say. πŸ™‚

    • paginatrix

      Kelly has purple hair.

    • ailujailuj

eh – those jabbering heads are paid to be sensational. no one is worth listening to other than Joan – purely for the entertainment. she knows squat about fashion.

    • marlie

Which begs the question, why is anyone still listening to Kelly about fashion?

      • ana170

Still? Why did anyone ever listen to Kelly about fashion?

        • marlie

True. Her fashion “cred” was always nonexistent to me, but some people (those who haven’t been properly trained by TLo) still take “Fashion Police” as gospel, rather than satire.

          • demidaemon

She is starting a fashion line, FYI. I also think, of the four panelists, she probably has the most interesting and copyable style for a young woman.

      • Vtg Fashion Library

Why does anyone listen to Kelly, period?

      • Belvane

I must disagree here. Regardless of whether or how she’s earned her fashionista cred, I still find that her comments on Fashion Police are generally spot on, intelligent, and informed. The kid knows her stuff and has done her homework — she can refer back to dresses from years ago and knows couture from way before her time. The purple hair, on the other hand, must stop.

        • Who here cannot refer back to dresses from years before? πŸ™‚ But I agree I generally enjoy listening to what she has to say, I do not always agree with it, exactly the same as here.

She can refer to dresses back to 2000 years BC and know how to make these dresses herself and whip them up in her spare time in her basement, but there is nothing she can do that will make the purple hair an ok thing. πŸ˜‰ we agree on that for sure.

        • marlie

From what I’ve seen, her skill is limited to saying whether or not she simply likes something, and then declaring it “AH-mazing” and “fashion forward.” Maybe she’s gotten better over the years, but that’s the impression that I’ve always gotten of her. But no one said that we kittens had to always agree about everything. πŸ˜‰

        • MM4321

With you on the purple hair; you lost me on suggesting she has any fashion cred. πŸ˜‰

      • In_Stitches

She sucks all the air out of the room with her self-importance and slowly delivered nonsense. I like that she tries to respect the art of fashion, but she isn’t enough of an authority for me to bother listening to, especially when she cuts off clever bon from her more entertaining co-hosts.

    • Let it out

Wha? I mean Kelly Osbourne “achieved” her status as a fashionista by 1) being a reality TV star and 2) wearing a lot of really unflattering retro 50’s looks. Her Golden Globes dress? Eek. I just do not get.

    • Jessica Freeman

Does not compute. Obviously Kelly is in need of a visit to the eye doctor.

    • Rhonda Shore

i thought the same, how absurd to call this the worst dressed when Paula Patton wore that ridiculous white monstrosity. I loved the color and the simplicity of this dress.

      • Jennifer Schiller

I turned it off early, I couldn’t stand the thought Paula might not win (or Heidi, oh Heidi). Or to be frank Giuliana, that dress flopped everywhere in interviews.

        • Rhonda Shore

After Guiliana imitated Sofia Vergara’s accent, i just can’t tolerate her. She doesn’t have to be a rocket scientist, but there is absolutely no excuse for ignorance.

          • Jennifer Schiller

Knowing both she and her parents are immigrants, and she comes from a very Italian family, I couldn’t tell if it was mocking or just a terrible attempt at imitation comedy. I’m inclined to say the latter, as I imagine she grew up with her parents accents being mocked (maybe even her own), and she can’t be dumb enough to mock one of the most well-respected women in the biz. Poor choice certainly though.

          • Rhonda Shore

You’re generous. How could she think that would be okay on live television?

          • Jennifer Schiller

Maybe. Sometimes I feel like the commentators, especially G, settle into a perceived friendship with the stars on the carpet and say and do things that belie professionalism. She also spends once a week with Joan Rivers, so her judgement for politically-correct attempts at humor is pretty much gone by this point.

I’m not defending the choice, but to be fair I’m not sure it was malicious, just insanely idiotic.

          • Rhonda Shore

            agree…insanely idiotic captures it.

    • Introspective

listen, i cant trust any panel of “experts” that loved zoe saldana in that frankendress on crack. once that happened i knew not to trust anything else the fashion police idiots came up with (besides of course lupita being best dressed).

reese isnt breaking fashion ground, but looks hot and that color is singing on her. so suck it world indeed.

      • demidaemon

To be fair, that was a clearly not unanimous opinion when Joan put her own spin on it.

    • VioletFem

If Kelly is calling this the worst dressed of the night, then she has absolutely no fashion cred at all. Reese’s dress is a perfect example of an elegant look by combining the simplicity of the dress with a bold color. It certainly isn’t one of the most daring dresses but it is still a very stunning dress. Honestly, you’d have to be blind to consider this ugly.

      • demidaemon

When the only one of the worst dress list worth being called that was Paula Patton, you know something is up. Luckily, Joan saw reason and picked the exploding toothpaste tube that was PP as worst dressed.

      • MM4321

Your statement that Kelly “has absolutely no fashion cred at all” works for me in this instance, and in every other instance known to humankind in which Kelly Osbourne feels inclined to issue an opinion on fashion. πŸ™‚

      • AnneElliot

And the fit of that dress is superb. It’s a trifecta of silhouette, color, and fit. It’s a “Girl, that IS your dress” — is that a thing on TLo?

        • VioletFem

          No, but it should be!

    • livesarah

Reese may just be on my Irrational Hate List, but she looks *flawless* here. I mean, I just went for a second look and spotted a single wrinkle on the back of her dress and maybe a tad too much bronzer on parts of her face when viewed up close, but that’s all I could come up with!

  • Carla_Charlton

    To me, this is Meh.

    • butterflysunita

Yes….I do think she looks good but if this is a WERQ, then Lupita has to be in a different category. Maybe Lupita is an Uber-WERQ?

    • fursa_saida

I think it’s meh to blah.

  • kimmeister

I don’t like the nail color, but everything else is awesome.

    • @Biting Panda

Love the differences in what we BKs like and dislike. I thought the color was an inspired choice. πŸ™‚

      • formerlyAnon

It looks awesome on her. It’s just a bit too in my-imagined-version-of-her-character. That is, she was born to rule the gilded suburbs with an iron fist. And very high control needs.

        • demidaemon

To me, your explanation explains exactly why it is perfect on her.

          • AnneElliot

Yes! She’s Tracy Flick, all grown up.

  • Scimommy

See, I don’t get this. It’s a great color and it fits her amazingly well, but is there a design here? How basic is this? Didn’t Amy Poehler wear something very, very similar at some point on stage? Somebody ‘splain me.

    • @Biting Panda

Well CK, is synonymous with simplicity. It’s design is its cleanliness. Also, this isn’t a Her Night kind of moment, I like that she’s dressed more along the lines of a presenter, rather than a possible recipient.

      • Scimommy

These are all great points. I guess I thought that a WERQ was a bit much for this look given how basic it was, but I can’t deny that she looks great.

        • SugarSnap108

I think WERQs are bestowed based on whether a lady star looks fabulous, not whether the clothes have the most interesting or unique design. It’s more about how everything comes together, including styling. So something basic can be a WERQ if the lady is making it sing.

          • marlie

Yep, how everything comes together AND how it fits in with the venue/event.

      • Ragnarockette

I agree! I hate when randos show up to awards shows in giant, glittery ballgowns. It’s like “simmer down, Cameron, you’re not even nominated.”

Likewise, I hate when nominees do understated chic. You’re a fucking movie star. Every woman on earth is coveting these gorgeous, jeweled gowns, and you have the ONE instance in which its appropriate and you decided to wear a pale pink sheath? Come on!

        • demidaemon

          I completely agree with you.

        • marlie

Every once in a while, I think there’s a rando who thinks “this is the only time I’ll ever get to do this, so I might as well go all out.”

    • ralish

I’m with you. I normally like CK’s simplicity, but for some reason this is reading a bit like a swimsuit that was turned into a gown.

      • LeelaST

That is exactly what I thought while watching the show – swimsuit!

      • maritacov

It even looks like it has swimsuit boob cups sewn in.

      • pookiesmom

        YES!!! EXACTLY!!!

      • tallgirl1204

Yes, 1950’s swimsuit– the fabric is both stretchy and thick– is it neoprene?

        • Kristin McNamara

That’s what I thought! I said to myself, “That’s either neoprene, or it was photoshopped onto her.” Something looks weird about it. No wrinkles, no anything? Not sure…

      • Rhonda Shore

well, i want a dress made of this fabric!!!

      • Kristin McNamara

Kind of like how JLaw’s red gown from that award show a few years ago (which got ridiculous praise from everybody and their mother) to me just looked like Pamela Anderson’s bathing suit from Baywatch turned into a floor-length gown. ETA: Oscars 2011

      • Liz Lake

I am right behind you! I wish there was a little more mphh behind this look. Not advocating side boob here, but did it seem to anyone else as if the dress came up very high beneath her arms? Also didn’t love the straightened hair. However the makeup looked gorgeous, her nails were a great accent and the accessorizing was nicely done.

    • MK03

I’m with you. Sure she looks great, but she pretty much always looks great on the RC. This is not uncharted territory for her. If this is a WERQ, Zosia Mamet should get a Double WERQ for pulling it together and looking fucking incredible.

  • @Biting Panda

WERQ it, OWN it, BE it.
Love it all. Especially love the nail color with that dress.

    • merciblahblah

Tee hee…your comment makes me think of the advice to Jeff Spicoli upon reading the “No Shirt, No Shoes, No Dice” sign – Learn it. Know it. LIVE it. Ahhhh, Fast Times At Ridgemont High – my favorite of all high school movies.

  • jtabz

A fine entry in the “looking good is the best revenge” book.

  • homofascist

I believe that is a ‘Do Me’ dress.

    • Scimommy

Or maybe a “You wish!” dress.

      • homofascist

It is, admittedly, a tough call. A case can be made for many interpretations.

      • formerlyAnon

I feel even the quintessential Reese “Do Me” dress would have a WIDE streak of “Be Me” to it. The essence of her being is not her physical appeal, it’s that she is going to be SUCCESSFUL, she is going to GET IT DONE and she is going to do it while maintaining her PROPER PLACE which is somewhere entirely appropriate and slightly above you & I. But it’s for our own good, mostly.

        • homofascist

Sort of ‘Vanessa Lutz meets Tracey Flick’? I can dig it.

  • Absolutely breathtaking. I love this colour, especially on her. πŸ™‚

  • ailujailuj

what a great call, Mms. Uncles. won’t turn me – but that gown was pretty awesome. Her head needs a renovation, though. I was thumbing through the “celebrity” page and reading a few comments on Ms. W’s calculated grocery excursion to WF. All the efforts to rewrite history regarding her poor behavior are seemingly successful. She’s laughing.

    • ailujailuj

Shia LaBoeouf will be giving her a call….

    • Sunraya

And her smirk just annoys the hell out of me. Get back in the car, Reese. We don’t care who you are.

      • ailujailuj

see – this is what makes TLo the consummate professionals that they are… they can celebrate the theatre of the bitch face, the bitch smirk, the silly demand of attention whores and desperate pleas for unconditional adoration amongst the celebs…. As long as they WERQ. I love that. I envy that. I guess I wanna be.

        • Sunraya

You know, I don’t see what she did as theater. She was driving with a drunk husband, so she was OK with it, and then she seriously harassed police officers who were trying to get the drunk off the road so he didn’t kill some family.

I think she is an arrogant, entitled twerp and I honestly didn’t find her Parking Lot of Atonement effective. Image bullshit, that’s all it was. This girl has a shitload of karma coming her way. I wish she would just go away.

And yes, my husband was a cop in NYC before going over to the Fire Dept and my brother in law was for 20 years. Who the hell is she to demand that they know and respect her and her drunk drIving husband?

Sorry, rant over, just had to say that.

          • ailujailuj

oh honey – I agree with everything you said…
by “theater” – I meant the atonement marketing ploy, which seems entirely effective.
But – isssallll theater. Some celebs are just much better at it. πŸ˜‰

          • Sunraya

I understand – thanks for clarifying! It seems like theater can cure all celebrity’s actions – there are no consequences for them, everyone sill adores them, I’m not saying to stone people, but really…go away, Reese.

          • ailujailuj

I know. Not to delve into existential psyche but It’s the same theater in politics – just look at the circus surrounding NJ gov. He’s getting a lot of press and people are grabbing popcorn but as you well know, THAT IS NJ POLITICS. I have personal experience with it. For the most part, a politician is a politician. Yet, these teflon jokers stay alive by saying what people want to hear and being who people want them to be. Truth isn’t part of the equation. Nearly every facet of our government is not what it appears to be. But I think that’s why I enjoy the theater of the entertainment world, because it’s less personal, relatively harmless and helps distract me from losing my sanity thinking too hard about the rest of it…

          • Sunraya

            So true!!!!!

  • Errick Loyola

My favorite dress of the night! J’ADORE.

  • Ms. Schmidt

    To quote Joey Russo, “Whoa!”

  • marlie

Reese looks fabulous. I have absolutely no complaints.

Also, I love the color of her nail polish.

    • 3boysful

I’m still not quite on the dark polish-short nails bandwagon (but I’m close!), but I like it here with this dress.

  • Evan

I don’t really like her hair, but she looks great.

    • Sofia

i agree, she needed more flattering and artfully done hair. a chignon, perhaps?

  • ryenerman

Beautiful color on here and bravo to her foundation garments, the entire dress is so smooth, not a pucker, wrinkle, or ugly seam anywhere. I appreciate that so much more than it seems like I should have to…

    • gigi kennedy

YES!!! she should seriously hold a class on this since it seems so many are in the dark

      • Jessica Freeman

They sell cheap spanxx at target. If I can do it, these lady stars can.

    • ailujailuj

I think it’s also the fabric – can’t tell for sure but the fabric looks similar to a triple weave or 3D spacer microfiber knit… a brilliantly forgiving fabric that gives to the body.

      • demidaemon

Which is a very, very smart choice on everyone’s side–from the designer to the stylist to Reese herself.

  • Diego!

Gorgeous dress and color but this is no WERQ to me. Zosia Mamet is wearing a dress which could clearly get the WERQ label. This dress looks great on Reese but it’s nothing to write home about. I say again she looks gorgeous but no WERQ to me. πŸ˜›

  • gabbilevy

I really dislike this. The fabric looks like it was cut from a teal wetsuit. Color is good but the design is invisible, and Im not digging the prep school hair. Agree to disagree on this one, I guess.

  • Jenna621

I loved how she looked. Love that color too!

  • I’m sorry but that hair turns that dress into “there’s a new girl at Bayside High! Will she pick Zack or Slater?”

    • Anna_Cecilia

Lol, totally. I was going to say I had that haircut all throughout Jr. High. The bangs are irritating me in particular.

  • decormaven

The lighting here doesn’t do this justice; I saw another photo at an afterparty and it really sung in better light. For my two cents, I’d like a little bit of bling at the neck to balance the mega-carat diamond studs. I think this was a smart choice; she wasn’t nominated, so she didn’t pick a show-stopper, foofy gown. This dress – “it’s simple, elegant, yet makes a statement.”

  • deelup

the fit is so smooth and perfect, the first photo almost looks like a giant paper doll with a dress clipped on. It’s as if there can’t be a real body and real dress in that photo. From that perspective this is perfection. Her head though, I can’t give a werq to. Too much makeup I think.

    • alyce1213

That was exactly my reaction, that there wasn’t a human body underneath. She’s slim, but It’s either the kind of fabric/lining or industrial strength Spanx.

  • Jennifer Peters-Ahnberg

That is a fantastic color on her! I love the simplicity.

  • Sarah

The eyes, they pop! Now I know why everyone says I look good in turquoise. I have the same eyes. (Note to self: get same slammin’ figure as Reese)

    • marlie

OR: Find a slammin dress that fits your current figure. πŸ˜‰

      • Sarah

You are sweet. And totally right of course. I’m more in awe of her preternatural smoothness, as the other BK’s have pointed out.

        • marlie

I would actually edit my comment to say that you should find a dress that highlights how slammin your body already is. It’s a perspective that I have to force myself to take, so I’m going to force you along with me!

          • demidaemon

Exactly the attitude we all need to have!

      • ailujailuj

agree – that dress is expertly fit to Ms. W’s figure, which is plagued with “weird areas” like the rest of us mortals (if you really study her). and before she was able to hire staff, I bet she had challenging fitting sessions and definitely had some misses.

  • colleenjanel

This was my favorite look of the night. The color is AMAZING! (Any dress on the RC that isn’t black, gold, silver, white, red or pink gets automatic bonus points from me).

  • Little_Olive

I cannot with those bangs. She can rock a million other hairstyles that suit her way more than this.

What is wrong with me, I don’t even agree with TLo that this is WERK worthy. Idk… the color, the fit, it’s like she is having a bikini tailored, you know, before they cut the fabric.

    • Jessica Freeman

I agree, the bangs seem to make it a bit casual.

  • HeisenbergHattie

    • HeisenbergHattie

My daughter looked better at Prom.

  • ivfive

During her awkward turn on stage, I noticed her hair was really choppy on the bottom. Like the ends had been chewed instead of cut.

  • xmixiex

that fit is spectacular. hair is boring/dated.

  • Jean Beaton Leavitt

Question…Is Calvin Klein the most favored of all RC designers?

  • bellafigura1

This is doing nothing for her boobs. It’s like, erasing them, in a weird way. Very smooth, though, I’ll give it that.

  • berkeleygirl

    Too much bronzer…

  • Hallie

    hate hate hate the hair

  • What a fantastic colour!

  • Jessica Freeman

Looking amazing. I will always request a belt when there is an obvious seam.

  • I loved this! It’s a great color for her.

    • Susan Blake Hanna

Totally agree – she’s wearing my favorite color and I like that she down played the accessories and wears the dress so well.

  • tallgirl1204

I love the color, but there’s something 1950s bathing suit-y about the dress. Is the fabric neoprene?

  • Sally Spannagle

She is in amazing shape and this dress shows it off perfectly. Also great color/makeup on her. I slightly think the fabric looks a little cheap, though.

  • Love the color and the attitude. The sportswear vibe feels a little dated to me (and heaven help her if she sneezes) but good for her.

  • 1tsplove

Argh am I the only one who feels like the top looks like a sports bra? I do love the color and her attitude though.

    • Nope. You are not alone. But I though it looked like a bathing suit. She’s gorgeous, tho. Stunning in anything.

  • MGMcD

I just read that as “Parking Lots of Penzance 2013” and scratched my head as to how that remake was going to work…

    Love the dress though.

  • jw_ny

She looks fantastic, although I’m not sure it’s quite werq-worthy…I didn’t say “wow” (or anything similar) when I saw her.

  • Dan_In_NYC

I love the color, but this looked all kinds of lulu lemon on TV. Yoga dress.

  • littlething

    Reese Witherspoon for Lulumon Couture.

  • Sue_Asponte

This looks fantastic in photos. I love it here. It didn’t look as great in the TV coverage — it seemed bland and almost shapeless. In contrast, her hair looks kind of blah here, but I absolutely loved it on Sunday. Overall, definitely a WERQ.

  • EEKstl

Like undoubtedly many other Bitter Kittens and Unborn Fawns, I have a typical mantra that runs through my consciousness every time I assess a celebrity: WWTW – What Would TLo Write? It is through this WWTW lens that I can honestly say I am a bit surprised and intrigued by the WERQ. She looks smashing, no question about it, but for me while the color, fit and back of this dress are stunning, I don’t love the hair or how under-accessorized this super-simple dress was (a more elaborate earring and bracelet, perhaps?). But yes, she looks fab.

  • NYCGlamourpuss

Yes m’aam! I love even more that it’s just a totally simple gown, but she turns it OUT because, well, because she’s HER!

  • MilaXX

This would be a “BE ME!” moment, no?

    • formerlyAnon

I’m not entirely sure she has any other kind. Certainly not intentionally.

  • I love her, and she will always look fantastic – but to me, this dress is uninspiring. Probably because I had a bathing suit with the same color and the same top. (I’m not a fan of that color – looks like she’s chlorinated from a dip in the pool.)

  • Scimommy

Methinks there’s a Reese fangurl/fanboy on the loose, downvoting everyone who dares to say the dress is not WERQ-worthy.

  • Garcia Loca

Love the color, but the material looks like wetsuit.

  • ailujailuj

jessica lange, amber, and naomi please!

  • Anna_Cecilia

Colour and fit are terrific, but not a WERQ from me.

I don’t irrationally hate her but I lump her in the same category of amateur-level bitchery as Carrie Underwood, the response they usually elicit from me is, “Go Away.” Then there’s the fearsomely respect level a la Cate Blanchett that’s more like, “I bow at your feet and solemnly pledge my allegiance. Please forgive me.” Reese will probably never make it to the latter for me.

  • Sunraya

I think the dress was too tight on her. In some ofmthepics, she looked like, she had a little pregnant belly, which I am sure we all know she would not have! Leave this tight to the 20somethings!

  • Sunraya

I think it was too tight on Reese. Especially across the abdomen. I saw some really bad pics of her.

  • Vickiefantastico

Is this a Be Me AND a Do Me???

    • formerlyAnon

It’s her version of a Do Me, I think. Which includes a huge streak of Be Me.

      • bellafigura1

Haha, that’s well said. I find her to be aggressively unsexy.

  • Natalie

I don’t love it. Love the color and the interest in the back, but the fabric seems too heavy to me, like upholstery fabric.

  • Trickytrisha

The fit on that dress is fantastic. Anything less would have ruined those simple, elegant lines. Face and hair are super lovely.

  • ailujailuj

question: is it supposed to be that long in front? looks weird.

  • Lynzee Michelle Lamb

I’ll be the odd one out. I think this gives her football-player chest proportions. Also the color hurts my eyes.

    • bellafigura1

I’m with you. The breastages look weird to me.

  • formerlyAnon

Lovely if . . . a bit too in character? But that’s my respect/hate thing going on, probably.

  • In_Stitches

I love this blue take on the classic minimalistic red Calvin, made famous by Scarlet Johanssen and Jennifer Lawrence. If you’ve got the body for it, nothing can look better and she’s proving here that she sure does. The mall-hair however is a big ol’ mess. It’s Liz Lemon’s deal-breaker hair catastrophe.

But it’s the hair that says “Reese” to me. She’s not a glamour girl, per se. She may be wearing a gazillion dollars worth of diamonds but they’re normally in tennis bracelets and stud earrings of high quality. She’s Head B**ch in Charge and she doesn’t have time for glamour. She DOES have time for OCD-level attention to detail and gut-busting hard work when required.

      • In_Stitches

That’s fair, but I think there are more flattering, no-nonsense styles that could convey that idea without looking like a supercuts after shot.

        • demidaemon

          Hey, what’s wrong with Supercuts?

          I kid.

          • formerlyAnon

            To mangle Simon & Garfunkel:

I do declare, there were times when I was so dead broke
            I took some comfort there

  • KinoEye

I couldn’t imagine a Reesier dress if I tried. In the words of Elton John: the bitch is back, ladies and gentlemen, and she is SERVING.

  • WoodnSalt

Nice dress, gorgeous color, but is there no one in Hollywood capable of hemming a dress properly?

  • nannypoo

It reminds me a little of a bathing suit. Great haircut and makeup, and I like the attitude, but don’t love this dress.

  • Nancer

This looks great on her. And the fit is ridiculously good! This dress offers the right kind of support and looks flawless. Love it.

  • Anne

A friend of mine commented that it looks like a bathing suit, but I don’t care. I love the color and the fit is perfect. Plus SHE loves it, which counts for a lot in my book.

  • Sam Smith

She looks fabulous, this was one of my favorite looks. Yes it is a super simple gown, but the color, the fit, the styling are all wins for me.

  • Ragnarockette

There’s something I love about a sporty, minimalist gown in a perfect bold color. I think it suits Reese’s style perfectly. Fit is perfection, color is perfection, and she looks radiant. Definite WERQ

  • Constanza Álvarez Espinoza

It’s nice but it’s too basic for the Red Carpet.
This is a WERQ and not Cate Blanchett’s glorious dress? Sorry, I don’t agree.

  • DominoEstella

UGH.. this looks like nothing more than a floor length Speedo gown. Ugly and boring as hell, plus she could barely walk in it. Please.. WERQ? I think not.

  • Emily Giovanni

She looks awesome! Loving the Golden Globe red carpet commentary, but I am over here pining away for a red carpet rundown.

  • Lilithcat

I’m not a huge fan of the dress, though it’s a good color for her. On the other hand, her undergarments are doing one helluva job.

    • Pennymac

Wonder if those undergarments are wearable by us mere mortals? Not a bump or ripple to be seen.
(I bet what ever it is leaves nasty indents in the flesh, afterwards LOL)

    • TigerLaverada

No kidding! My first thought was, boy, Spanx should give her a contract. Dress is sort of generic, but I like the turquoise hue on her.

  • luludexter

she looks gorgeous but man is it boring.

  • ShaoLinKitten

I feel like this should have been Taylor Schilling’s dress.

  • carpediva

Easily her best ever, IMHO. Who knew sexy was in her wheelhouse?

  • Hilda Elizabeth Westervelt

She looks stunning in this color. Very much the sun kissed, California girl.

  • another_laura

Agree that this is a “suck it, y’all” dress, and it’s a great color and fitted beautifully. However, outside the context of her needing a “suck it y’all” dress, I don’t like it much. Context is all, no?

  • Kelly

Yeah, she’s WERQing the attitude, but the dress? Not so much. It looks like a giant foam koozie. Great hair, though.

  • CPK1

not a reese fan but she looks fab

  • murt

Wow – I disagree – don’t like the hair, and I don’t think the halter neck is working for her. Great colour though.

  • SugarSnap108

What a great color for her, and it fits her like the proverbial glove. I’m just not sold on the hair; the pushed-behind-the-ear thing, it bugs.

  • Truthiness2U

Serving up Malibu Barbie realness. I was not a fan of the dress or look at all.

  • CatherineRhodes

Hmmm… she’s a WERQ and Juliana Marguelis isn’t? I think Reese looks great, but the dress is a bit simple and in need of some sort of necklace. Something about the dress reminds me of swimwear.

  • fnarf

Joan Rivers: “world’s first floor-length sports bra”. I concur. Awful cut, especially the bodice, awful polyester double-knit-looking fabric.

  • Katherine Leay

is a little too simple, but… yeah she looks gorgeous! i LOVE the color

  • BPlease

The top is giving her the *appearance* of back fat. I’m not trying to name-call about her actual body, but I think the fit is not that great, and the styling is just sort of mall salon ca. 1998 or something.

  • bitchybitchybitchy

Love the color, silhouette, and yes, that is the “Eat shit and die” expression, for sure.

  • guest2visits

It’s a good color for her but I find the back the only sort of nice or interesting thing about it.
Like others have noted – it reminds of a simple bathing suit/or beachy coverall. One of the few dresses I didn’t like.

  • quiltrx

Is this Neoprene? It almost looks it. Whatever it is, I love how it gives such an incredibly smooth silhouette.
But if I was sending embossed invitations to suck it, I would have piled on more diamonds!

  • MM4321

Can we start a petition or something to have celebs stop the silly posing on the red carpet? Just stand there and smile. We don’t need the rest.

  • mdcoon127

FashionPolice (or at least one of them) said on the carpet this was awful, it only photographed well. It looked like it didn’t fit her and they called a really long sports bra, one of them had it up for ugliest dress…

    • Tafadhali

I was getting a definite sports bra vibe from this. The top is just so smooth and contoured and gymwear-looking.

  • ThesisMonkey

I don’t love the swimsuit vibe, but the color is very pretty and the dress looks good on her. can’t stand those bangs, though.

  • The dress fits and all, but it looks like she’s a the Baywatch awards.

  • supri_supri

It is a Land’s End swimdress but she looks gorgeous. The color sets off her eyes like whoa.

  • Shawn EH

I don’t get the negative reviews of this dress I’ve seen in the press. I think she looks hot as hell! Plus I loved her little bit in the show when Julia Louis-Dreyfus shut down her selfie moment!

  • Crystal

    she looks SO HOT

  • BrianaJC

The dress fits so perfectly it looks photo-shopped – breathtaking.

  • PeaceBang

She looks fine. Just fine. Too much bronzer and RSB (Really Stupid Bangs) + self-satisfied, smug pose face = meh. Can’t stand her.

  • French_Swede

Yup, the moment I saw her I knew she was in her ZONE.

  • jjtxgrrl

Meh. I’m not impressed. Typical boring CK dress. Good color for her blonde self though.

  • shelley514

This dress fits Miss Reese to a T and the color is gorgeous. But the whole look is very Malibu Barbie goes to the GGs.
