Rosario Dawson in Antonio Berardi at the “Gimme Shelter” NY Premiere

Posted on January 24, 2014

Miss Rosario works a Bladerunner look.

Rosario Dawson attends the “Gimme Shelter” premiere in New York City in an Antonio Berardi dress paired with Graziela Gems earrings and an EF Collection ring.

Futuristic Retro works surprisingly well for her. Love the design of the dress, although it’s pulling and wrinkling a lot along her front.  We love the hair, which also surprises us. We wouldn’t have thought such a lacquered and set head would work for her. About the only thing we find lacking is the lip color, which should be quite a bit stronger than this. Aside from that, she looks great.

  • Diego!

Had she worn a strong red lip color, this would have been a WERQ. She looks AMAZING! That dress fits her like a glove. Attagirl Rosario!

  • CakesOnAPlane

The only thing I can’t get down with are the fragmented arrow pieces pointing to her groin.

    • Anna

      I got the same impression.

    • ballerinawithagun

I know! I can’t believe the boys didn’t mention the arrow.

  • LOVE! Striking and fun. Agree about the lipstick though.

  • MilaXX

Love this look and I want that earring. Her movie with Vanessa Hudgins looks interesting.

    • fursa_saida

I hadn’t even noticed the earring! I want it too.

  • gabbilevy

Oh this is fantastic! Especially love the earring and the clutch. Sassy, and she knows it.

  • Jessica Freeman

Looks really good on her. In my imaginary closet all my work dresses look just like this.

    • DaringMiss

Can we be best friends so I can borrow stuff like that from your closet? I would love to have items like that in my closet!

      • Jessica Freeman

You bet! Come on over to my imaginary mansion.

        • marlie

In her imaginary luxury sports car…

          • Jessica Freeman

Where we have small imaginary dogs that wear Chanel sweaters and gold and diamond necklaces.

          • DaringMiss

Can we all be served champagne by the maid while we lounge in your luxurious closet, then putting on an impromptu fashion show — giggling and laughing all the while — all shown in a montage with a fun, breezy pop song plays in the background?

          • Sartorial_She

You’re describing Wednesday at the JLo manse.

  • Anna

Tricky dress, I like it for the most part. On the one hand, there is the Rorschach and/or “Here’s an outline of my uterus” effect, but she’s rocking it overall. Love the Mondrian-inspired clutch.

  • @Biting Panda

She looks spectacular. But also a little crazy. There’s a touch of the Julia in this one.

    • demidaemon

You are referring to Ms. Roberts, right?

      • @Biting Panda

Indeed. (She’d flog you for insinuating there is any other Julia worth speaking of in a first name only.)

  • Glam Dixie

The dress has some major figure flattering mojo, the earrings and clutch are killa, yes, she needs bolder lipstick but she looks great.

    • kimmeister

The black part is doing wonders to create more of an hourglass shape!

  • Rand Ortega

Tres chic Blade Runner. Like she got it from Rachel’s closet.

  • jtabz

Love the lady, love the look, love the phrase “futuristic retro.”

  • NBG

It ain’t boring, I’ll give her that. I’m deducting points for the weird sleeves, then giving them back for the clutch and hair so..she comes out ahead.

  • Janet B

    Quite eye catching, well done.

  • acevedob

She looks wonderful. I never realized how large her head is. Or is it me?

  • YoungSally

Does she have Botox forehead with that big vein?

    • SugarSnap108

For some people, laughing causes a forehead vein to protrude. Just a natural wonder of the human body.

      • YoungSally

Ah — I would hate to think that she was already headed down Botox Boulevard

  • KinoEye

I’m especially fond of the earring and clutch. She looks lovely. On a related note, I’ve always loved how strong and angular her face is. I’d love to see her with a hairstyle similar to Lupita’s!

  • Sobaika

Hmm, I don’t know. I wish a lot of the details went smoother – face a bit too shiny, hair a bit frazzled. It looks almost like these pictures were taken at the end of a night as opposed to the beginning.

    • formerlyAnon

I had that feeling about the hair, as well.

    • Constant Reader

My hair frizzes if I even THINK the word “fog” (and I live on the coast), so I feel her pain.

    • NBG

Frizz is a way of life for mixed chicks like Rosario and myself. You can achieve a sleek look for a few nanoseconds with good product but in the end, the frizz wins.

  • Sarah

I sort of wish this dress was sleeveless, echoing the lines of the silhouette on her skirt, but she looks good. Love her.

  • Danielle

I’m going to have to politely disagree with you on the hair, uncles.

  • SewingSiren

40’s revival should definitely be her go to look.

  • SugarSnap108

She looks great, and I LOVE that clutch. With her, I often think, “You are so pretty, why are you ruining it with that outfit?” So this is a big win to me.

  • Akemi

Cute! I even like the clutch!

  • girlsaturday

Naya Rivera needs to get a photo of this look and hang it up somewhere prominent in her home.

  • boweryboy

Wow. I like it. I have no quibbles about it.

  • Imasewsure

Like the dress but not the hair… love her “Hey Gurl” close up though

  • tereliz

She does need that shiny red lippy Sean Young was sporting in Blade Runner to make this look complete…

  • Rosario Dawson is someone who I would find stunning in a potato sack.

  • Tricia

    Damn, she’s hot.

  • elemspbee

oh gosh. I think I’m in an opposite universe today. I hate the hair. Rest of the look rocks.

    • sagecreek

I’m just annoyed at the fact that I could never pull this look off.

  • “Futuristic Retro”….now THERE’S an oxymoron!
I’m not as in love with her whole look as you are, Uncles, but I am a big fan of the earrings and clutch (or is it a minaudiere?) She looks happy which always adds the extra “oomph” every successful look needs.

    • kimmeister

You made me go back to look at the earrings. Interesting, but they sort of look like bedazzled bobby pins clipped onto her lobes.

  • ThaliaMenninger

I’m seeing more Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. I think it’s the hair.

  • marlie

I really like this. I LOVE her hair. And while I wish the dress had been smoothed down, it still looks great on her, and really flatters her figure. If only she’d worn a bolder lip color…

  • Trickytrisha

Looking swell, Ms. Dawson. I’m not in love with the swoopy hair, but that is one killer of a dress. Nice clutch.

  • NYCGlamourpuss

“Futuristic Retro” – I love that!

Really loving this look on her – the clutch is perfect! She should have a strong red lip, but that’s really her only slip up.

  • formerlyAnon

I love the dress. I *would* love the look, but the hair looks a little “done-at-home” to me, like the hair in some of my mom’s casual ’40s photos with friends. I’m sure it wasn’t and I don’t know what change in shape, exactly, would make it look more “dressed up.” Because it’s definitely a subtle thing, I like the hair – it’s just somehow feeling not-quite.

  • Raymond Dnomyar

  • E. D.

    Looks great.

  • Qitkat

Love the clutch. No credit as to whose it is. On The Fashion Fund this week, a designer was chosen to compete who makes similar clutches in lucite.

  • Monabel

A redder lip would make a more striking composition, but that lip color flatters her face.

  • I’m stealing that clutch.

  • Synnae

I love Rosario no matter what she wears but this must be a personal best. Also I want the whole damn outfit in my wardrobe now!

  • My eyes bugged out. I didn’t scroll down enough to see her legs and it gave me that green screen effect, like in the movie Anchorman II, when Brick thought his legs disappeared. She looks like she’s a floating bust. Not crazy about this dress, tho. I know…I know…I’m wrong. 😉

  • quiltrx

I love this look, and I love Blade Runner so it figures. And that clutch is fab. But I actually feel like I want to her hair to be MORE Mildred Pierce bitch-hair.

  • jjjoy

love her styling . cool hair, jewelry and clutch. and i’m glad she DIDN’T wear a strong lip. i think that would’ve been a little too much of an obvious choice.

  • LaSylphide

It took a few tries, but now I’m loving this, especially the clutch. Hair – still thinking about that.

  • fabu dress and clutch but to me the hair is just odd.

  • mznormann

She’s certainly completely unrecognizable from her character in Gimme Shelter! Good movie, BTW.
