    • Diego!

LOVE! Those are gorgeous prints and fabrics I must say! :D

      • ailujailuj

I love the prints, too – absolutely gorgeous.

    • boweryboy

I’m confused. Is she a model of color or a model photoshopped to have dark skin? That distracted me so much I couldn’t focus on the clothes (I like the saturated colors, but that’s about all).

      • gdougs

The model is Liya Kebede, from Ethiopia. She and the campaign are both gorgeous!

        • Anna

          Agreed. Love her.

        • boweryboy

Thanks. I’ve never seen or heard of her. I will be Googling her in a moment.

          • gdougs

Yeah, there’s definitely a discrepancy between these pictures and ones online of her, but I’m not really sure why the edited it that way. If they really wanted a darker model, I’m sure they could have found one. I guess it’s better than if they had edited her skin to make it look lighter than it is?

            • barbarienne

While she’s extremely dark here, it’s also clear from the, er, variety of skin color in her various photos online that she’s frequently lightened digitally (as is sadly common).

      • Bridget Smith

It just looks like VERY harsh lighting conditions to me. Props to her cheekbones for standing up to it!

        • boweryboy

I’m sure harsh lighting plays a role, but if you look at pics of her online, she isn’t even close to having that dark of a skin tone. In any case, she is an arresting figure in these ads, no doubt.

      • RectPropagation

I’m glad that wasn’t just me.

I think I might have recognized her (not by name but I’m sure I’ve seen her before) if they hadn’t mucked with her skin tone.

    • Jacob Bowen

      Cat ear boobs strike again!!!

      • conniemd

Yeah, I loved the dress and coat except for the cat ear boobs

    • Lori

I want that coat. I have nowhere to wear it because that is not my life, but I still want that coat.

    • MilaXX

I like. I see Riri and Solange ticking these looks.

    • Lilah

Gorgeous. Too bad I don’t love the clothes.

      • Isabel

The skirts and capri pants have a MadMen vibe – early 60s. Before the Beatles. The dress, top, and blue/red jackets – 80s vibe.

However, I do love Liya’s coat! I do like the prints but not how they were used.

      • demidaemon

Agreed. The styling and the model are doing 101% of the work here.

    • marlie

Liya is gorgeous, and the clothes look fabulous. But the scarves on her head sort of bug me. I wish they’d styled her a little differently.

      • Isabel

        I hate the scarf also.

    • semirose

When I have my tablet in portrait it cuts off half the ad so you just see Liya’s left arm and a touch of her face/body and i thought the ad looked super striking because the prints are gorgeous and gosh her skin tone. Then I turned to landscape and saw the whole thing and it lost a bit for me because as gorgeous as she is, not a huge fan of the clothes.

I think the negatives of burning roses look like something an emo 16 year old would submit as an art project.

      • Madam Von Sassypants

“Wait until my Livejournal followers see THIS!”

        • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

“I was inspired by LONELINESS AND PAIN”

          • Madam Von Sassypants

“Beauty is an illusion. Pain and death are forever!
Also, I fucking hate you, mom. Stacy from homeroom, I’m picturing your face as the rose RIGHT NOW.”

            • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

“I had this dream where I was a VAMPIRE and roses burst into flame at my touch. And all the boys liked me and not Stacy but no one KNEW MY SECRET”.

    • Deb Oswald

THOSE ADS!!!! GORGEOUS from an artistic POV. WOW Her face is just amazing

    • decormaven

I like the way the second look on the runway is cut- that’s an interesting jacket. The photo campaign is more compelling than the other designers’ that have been featured here. The focus is on the clothes, and not on big honkin’ purses or bedazzled gym socks.

    • Jessica Freeman

The tit napkins are really bad.

    • rkdgal

Love her, but those coats are giving me a serious case of vicarious itch through the screen.

    • acevedob

The burning rose is so AHS. We have Madame Laveau and the three cheery witches.

    • conniemd

Beautiful and appealing to the eye.

    • filmcricket

Model of colour: yay! Hideous clothes: boo!

    • Michelle Wilson

Hate the clothes but love the photos.

    • butterflysunita

Now this is an ad campaign. Eye catching images and really shows you the clothes.

    • Synnamin

Beautiful. Wonderful range of colors, lighting, and texture. Also, bravo for having a WOC for the whole campaign, and not just as a token

    • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

I was looking at the rose on fire more than the clothes. So for me, the campaign doesn’t work.

    • crash1212

If they were selling burning roses, this layout hit the mark. If not…huge fail. Now that I’ve gone back to look at the clothes, I actually like them…which is unusual because usual PG makes my eye twitch.

    • Trickytrisha

Not so thrilled with these, and I usually like this designer. Beautiful model in the campaign pics, but why not full length to show the clothes? Actually… probably so the roses could have their close ups.

    • Sif

If I’m Tim Gunn, I will give PG an F for being “too liberal”. Yeah, we get it. It’s about roses, but the placement of rose is tragic. Armpit, breast, and inches away from the crotch? Make it stop already.

    • kimmeister

Here’s photographic evidence that not everyone looks good in cat eye sunglasses.

    • quiltrx

I like the colors…particularly the “Bitchcoat”, as I always think of that type in the last large pic…from 40s/50s/60s movies, somewhere between a housecoat and an evening wrap. And always swaddling a bitch. ;)

    • bertkeeter

OVER all these huge ass graphic prints!

    • Fred Vaughn

The darkest I’ve seen Liya Kebede photographed (Lit? Airbrushed?) in a while… and it helps give the look even MORE life!

    • demidaemon

The model is serving. The clothes are not.

    • Prisca Milliance

      is he auditioning for prada?
