Leelee Sobieski at the Christian Dior Fashion Show

Posted on January 22, 2014

Her only job seems to be showing up at events looking chic these days.

Leelee Sobieski attends the Christian Dior show as part of Paris Fashion Week Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2014 in Paris, France.

Maybe it’s not much of a job, but you’ve gotta admire her for following the “Pick one thing and do it well” rule. Love this look. So very “I’m off to the Paris Couture shows.”

I LOVE those shoes, but I honestly don’t care about anything other than those shoes. She darn near blends into the walls.

    • Alloy Jane

Yes, LOVE the shoes. Everything else is horrible. A coat made from a hoodie? No thank you. Curtain skirt needs to go too.

      • jspark

I don’t mind the hoodie coat, but those lips and hair are dollar store.

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/TheOctocornNetwork International Model

The hoodie has been upgraded to a cape. The future is awesome!

    • Kristin McNamara

How awesome that she gets to look that fabulous AND do so while getting to wear something made out of SWEATSHIRT?!??? I love it.

  • Diego!

I love her coat and skirt, but those shoes are FABULOUS!

  • Jessica Freeman

Coat porn for sure. Would love the see the whole dress, but maybe there is a reason she’s hiding it. The hair is a definite no.

    • http://www.youtube.com/user/TheOctocornNetwork International Model

If the rumors of her second career are true, she may be bringing her work to photo-ops by denying us the pleasure of seeing the dress.

      • Kristin McNamara

        Fill me in?

        • Juliette Wojciechowski

Let’s just say Indiana Jones isn’t the only one in Hollywood who can wield a whip . . . .

        • SassieCassy

rumor has it that she’s a dom on the side. cray but totes believable right?

  • Lilithcat

I would kill for that coat. Even in the stills, you can tell it moves fabulously.

  • Paigealicious

I *need* that cape!! Those shoes are amazing!

  • ailujailuj

this is great. the little girl in me would have LOVED that cape coat and the big girl in me wants the shoes.

  • Valdri8

So love that I am tearing up – also, how do I apply for this job?

  • J. Preposterice

man, she looks like gillian anderson.

    • Erica_Vuitton

Really?? I can never see anything but Helen Hunt.

      • Mismarker

Yes, back in the 90s, I always thought of Leelee as “baby Helen Hunt”.

        • Erica_Vuitton

I’m waiting for the day they finally admit she’s an illicit love child or something.

    • KateM

That’s exactly what I thought too. Slap a Scully wig on her and you couldn’t tell the difference. I ALSO thought she was young Helen Hunt back in the day, but I don’t see it here.

      • J. Preposterice

now we just need to get that Duchovny clone out of the vat and reboot the XFiles.

      • fursa_saida

The nose. The nose is what always tips me off it’s Sobieski and nobody else.

  • BendinIntheWind

If that’s her “job”, she needs a new hair gay. RUINING a perfectly chic look.

  • frannyprof

    I want her job.

  • Malibufire

Perhaps a tiny bit of shampoo…?

  • lexilexi

What I love is that heel trap in the floor…

    • ovarB

HAHAHAHA!! And I can see her just twirling and spinning in her fab coat and stepping right into that floor grate.

    • littlemac8

Now that is funny! I didn’t notice it and it’s as plain as the nose on her face!

  • http://www.snoskred.org/ Snoskred

    That skirt – I die.. :)

  • @Biting Panda

Her hair makes me sad. Love the rest.

  • Anna

Holy Moses! You look fabulous! Stop!

I don’t want to stop, I like it! Take the picture!

  • Sarah

I’m a weirdo, I guess, because I don’t think any of the elements of this outfit look good with each other. The sweatshirt cape IS cool, tho.

    • Qitkat

I tend to agree with all your statements. At first I couldn’t really believe that was sweatshirt fabric. Great idea for those who sew, pick a fabulous Vogue pattern to create in a similar fabric. Automatically elevated.

    • Kayceed

Cool but strange with a sequin skirt, in my eyes. Sweatshirt swing coat reminds me of something Norma Kamali might have done back in the day…

      • majorbedhead

Norma Kamali! Now there’s a name I have heard in eons.

  • KinoEye

I gasped when I saw the thumbnail. But dear Leelee, that hair didn’t work in that last Prada (?) campaign, and it definitely doesn’t work with all this other fabulousness. Also, why is no one hiring her? Perhaps she doesn’t want to work in film anymore, but I thought she was very good. Love her bit part in Eyes Wide Shut.

    • deelup

I thought I read she married a fabulously wealthy man and was just decorating gorgeous homes, shopping for amazing clothes, and raising her kid(s).

      • KinoEye

Well, isn’t that nice? Color me 50 shades of green with envy.

      • fashion4ever

Let’s not forget she also attended Brown…

    • ana170

There was a time I thought she was going to follow in the footsteps of fellow ex-child actresses Helen Hunt or Jodie Foster. I read once that there was a specific movie role that hurt her career but I don’t remember what it was. She does still act from time to time though.

      • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

I thought it was being extremely young with very old boyfriends and telling everyone what a European-style artiste she was that hurt her career.

      • jspark

Wasn’t she in a new york cop show last year that ended up getting canceled?

      • Jarethee

        The Wicker Man maybe?

        • KinoEye

There it is, Jarethee. I’ve watched that movie to laugh at it so many times that I can’t believe I forgot Leelee was in it. But yeah. I can see how that one would be a career-ender for anyone except Nicolas Cage and Ellen Burstyn, who inexplicably agreed to do that movie.

          • Jarethee

Try watching it with “Rifftrax” some time. It’s brilliant! And Nick Cage is generally always insanity fueled hilarity.

  • flamingoNW

Except the hair, I kind of like!

  • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

I dunno, that sweatshirt cape comes off as very Eileen Fisher to me. But LeeLee is indeed pulling it off.

  • Jecca2244

she actually said that to WWD. She gave up acting for painting and “just comes out of hiding for the Dior shows.” ha. pretty awesome. I took a Joan of Arc seminar years ago and my professor reached out to her agent to try and talk to LeeLee about preparing for that movie and Leelee actually called back and was awesome. so lots of cred to her.

    • Danielle

New life goal: only come out of seclusion for Dior shows.

  • MilaXX

I”m typically not a fan of ankle straps but this look is great. She looks good and those shoes are fierce.

  • boldprint

oy, what a beautiful face she has. and she looks chic as hell!

  • LuisaNL

I hate the shoes. and what is up with the hair?!

  • bellafigura1

I don’t know, it looks tres faux new look to me. Like, mashed through the contemporary sensibility time machine and just, kinda dumbed down. I like the hair and the persona, though, she’s her own woman.

  • marlie

I don’t like the unwashed hair look, but I’d kill for that coat – it’s gorgeous. I’m also not a fan of those shoes with that skirt.

  • TropiCarla

This coat would have made me so happy when I was a pregnant lady in Chicago.

  • Latin Buddy

Love this BUT HATE THE HAIR. GUUUUUUUUUUUURL, wash that weave

  • Cheryl

I know I’m going to be in the minority here, but I loathe those shoes. Looks like a high heel that wanted to dress up as sports shoe.

    • kimmeister

They sort of look like the bottom of a pool to me.

  • GeoDiva

    Coat Porn! Everything else… meh..

  • Nicole Little

Love the shoes and coat. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE em. She looks amazing.

  • MannahattaMamma

Why can’t I have that job? Coat-porn star, that’s what I wanna be when I grow up.

  • Stefanie Argudo Mackenzie

Ok so I’m hopeless. I HATE HATE ODIO those shoes.

  • mjude

    I want that coat….NOW

  • AzSportsGirl

    Hair Tragic
    Coat Sublime
    Head (except for hair) Perfection
Shoes Fabulous (even with the ankle strap – which would mean I could never wear them – because THAT’s the only thing holding me back.. not the $$$)

  • Garcia Loca

I’m a sucker for a nice swing coat.

    • Coolekat

      Me, too! Love them.

  • Introspective

coat is KILLAH. shoes, while they dont go, are hot too. so she still totals fierce even though im not sure about the pairing.

  • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

Her face is looking wonderful. I think she’s going to be a stunning old lady. The hair… makes her look like Alice Dellal’s older sister which is not entirely a compliment. I think I like the skirt.

  • Nancer

If this is her job, then – nailed it!

  • Carleenml

if it’s her only job, she does it well. love it.

  • Lilah

    I want that job.

  • Just Me

I would tell my feet to get over the pain if I could have those shoes!

  • LJCdoc

I would cut a bitch for that coat.

  • http://victoriapavlova.com Victoria Pavlova

    Love the look.

  • msdamselfly

    She’s lovely

  • Coolekat

    Top to toe style award

  • JenniferA

Should I be excited that limp, lifeless hair like mine is now considered chic? Hmm.

  • nowlo

Great outfit, very chic. She wears it well. The hair is awful.

  • carnush

    J’adore.

  • trisker

I’m always happy when I see her name in the lineup. She has amazing style. Agree about the hair, though. looks like she cut it and then wish she hadn’t and is trying to hurry it to grow out so she can sleek it back.

  • ballerinawithagun

Love it all. That brocade skirt fabric looks fabulous, wish I could see more. The coat is bring me back to the Norma Kamali OMO days. I did quite well selling swing coats in sweatshirt fabric, looks like I’ll have to revisit that idea.
I can’t wear ankle straps but I love those shoes, that turquoise is dreamy.

  • kimmeister

Love the shape of the coat, not the fabric in which it is rendered.

  • Gatto Nero

Love the exaggerated swing coat; the seaming is beautiful. It’s all very minimalist ’50s, but with modern styling and makeup. Very elegant.

  • up with pod people

When are they going to put her in a mother/daughter movie with Helen Hunt? I find their resemblance uncanny.

  • Trickytrisha

The clothes and shoes are perfect. The hair is not.

  • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

Love it, and I’m personally devoted to those shoes – but all that effort and that’s your hair? Oy.

  • acevedob

Exquisite. She looks like a lovely bell or flower.

  • ThaliaMenninger

I guess once Helen Hunt’s career went south, Leelee Sobieski was no longer needed. But she looks lovely. And you can bring the sweatshirt poncho coat right on over to my house.

  • Jean Beaton Leavitt

When does Tom and Lorenzo go to Paris fashion week?

  • JulieTy

“I think it makes me look dumpy.”
“That’s because you’re wearing ankle straps.”

  • DominoEstella

    damn fine!

  • majorbedhead

I would cut someone for that coat. I’d say and the shoes, but I know I’d never manage to walk on such a teensy, tiny heel.

  • traceyishere

The shoe color seems off to me.

  • SugarSnap108

Love everything (the shoes are giving me palpitations), just not sure if I love them all together. The hair is stunningly bad.

    • Lori

I think the middle is good, but the top and bottom aren’t working. The shoes are great, but not with this outfit. The hair is a crime with any outfit other than a hospital gown. (Because if you’re in the hospital you’ve most likely got enough problems that people need to ignore just your hair.)

  • luluransom

Who do I have to do what to, to get that job??

  • Kelly

She does look chic — even in what looks like a gigantic maternity sweatshirt. That good bone structure and beautiful patrician nose help (not to mention good makeup). But I’m with the other BKs — terrible hair.

  • Hayley

    Looooove.

  • GillianHolroyd

Love it head to toe and that includes the hair. Great update on the ’40s.

  • JeanProuvaire

Her shoes look like gummi sharks. From me, this is a high compliment. I love them.

  • quiltrx

She looks incredible! I can’t find one thing to complain about.

  • Danielle West

A shame she couldn’t be bothered to wash her hair.

  • Lilak

    In your dreams, Bosworth!

  • Claudia

She looks so much like a young Helen Hunt…! Did she ever manage to play her daughter in something?

  • AnneElliot

She is the love child of Helen Hunt and Gillian Anderson, but 1000x more chic. Wowza.

Except her hair looks like she just came from the gym.

  • formerlyAnon

This is GORGEOUS. I love that cape, though if it shaded a tiny bit more, say half way, to palest of baby blues, I’d love it more. These are the clothes in which elegant, rail thin actresses with thin, arched eyebrows emerge from battered post-war taxis in ’50s films set in Paris.

The shoes are adorable, but my least favorite part of the ensemble (due to irrational irritation caused by that shade of blue)

  • TRSTL

Slightly on topic, if you have never seen it, get a viewing of the French version of Dangerous Liaisons with her, Catherine Deneuve, Rupert Everett, Natasha Kinksi. Some serious fashion porn, reset in the 60′s in Paris. Horribly acted all around but fun to watch for the sets and costumes alone.

    • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

i adored her as joan of arc. will never forget her hearing the angel voices…

  • IAmJ

Not loving the hair but her face photographs beautifully.

  • jjjoy

she looks like a model. very chic. she looks so different to me. plastic surgery? aging? drastic change in personal style?

  • Colin

The shoe should be a muted off-tone grey. The silhouette is what should be the focal point here but the bright blue heels are pulling my eyes down.
