Lady Gaga Style Double Shot

Posted on January 27, 2014

The settings were at Maximum Attention Whoring in the music industry world this weekend, so we expected to see some major WTFery coming from Miss Steffi’s direction. Instead she surprised us (as she sometimes does) by breaking out the “Gaga, the Fashionista” persona.

Lady Gaga attends the 2014 MusiCares Person Of The Year Gala Honoring Carole King in Los Angeles, California in an Alexis Mabille spring 2014 couture gown.

This is SUPAFIERCE. We are all about superhero capes on the red carpet. We don’t love the wig or the sunglasses, but the dress, the belt and the shoes are all fabulous.

Then, she REALLY surprised us, by serving up “I’m so gonna fuck that Kirk guy” OG Star Trek Babe realness:

Lady Gaga at Epix’s Evening with Arthur Fogel at the Harmony Gold Preview House and Theater in Hollywood, California in a Romona Keveza metallic champagne chiffon draped one-shoulder ball gown.

Honestly, the only thing that could have made this better was if her skin was dyed green.

At least she doesn’t appear to be wearing her usual Herman Munster shoes so there’s that…

    • TinaBelchersawkwardmoan

I was gonna say. “She can walk on her own?! It’s a miracle!”

  • alyce1213

That first dress is SERIOUS. I’d like it even more without the open front, or if the slit were closed more demurely — the underboob doesn’t flatter and a little adjustment of tape would help.
There’s a lot of squooshing going on in dress #2. It shouldn’t do that.
Wigs, makeup and sunglasses are SOP for Gaga.

  • Danielle

I appreciate that she gave her boobs a chance to breathe before squashing them into Barbarella’s wedding gown.

  • @Biting Panda

AttaGaga! I do wish she’d work a better fit in the bust, when she shoots for “fancy”. There’s an expected playfulness tempered with a quiet dignity going on here, that I am thoroughly enjoying.

  • She is giving off some Barbara Stanwyck poise in these dresses. Blessings!

  • nannypoo

Not sure why she needs sunglasses indoors, but that first look is fabulous.

  • Kamilaa

So anyone besides me with the mental image of a cartoon light bulb going off over Steffi’s head when she read this (you know she has a google alert set for her name), followed by an immediate text to make sure she has green skin-paint the next time she Treks it up?

    Just me then? Okay. =D

    • ankali

She is kicking herself for not dyeing her skin green.

  • VicD

I don’t get it – you ding Ciara for looking too much one color, but you love it on Gaga? The dresses are OK enough – I like the second one better than the first, but that “hair”! The wig with bangs is awful, and the second hair style looks like she ordered a “Bump It” from late night TV infomercials. Plus, those false eyelashes make her look cross-eyed. However, it’s Gaga – it’s never simply fashion, but a statement about fashion.

    • VioletFem

Neither of these dresses match Steffi’s skin tone the way Ciara’s does. She’s wearing a white dress in the first pic and a slightly off-white dress in the second one. Although, I do think that dinging Ciara with the GTNYD label was a bit much.

  • lexilexi

I get exhausted just looking at her. The time, the effort, the parphernalia, the always needing a new look… I guess I’ve had my fill of the Lady.

  • Diego!

WERQ & Attagirl. Amazing! She looks gorgeous! 🙂

  • Let it out

I just wonder how many times her creative team has been to Burning Man. I’m going to say all of the times.

  • hughman

“I want all my Geighs to set their phasers on “stunning”!”

    • formerlyAnon

Love. You are an Official Blog Treasure. (Sez me, o.k.? What more credentials to you need?)

  • Adrianna Grężak

That first look is a WERQ. She looks amazing, possibly the best she’s looked in a while. I like the sunglasses, I think they take a very serious gown to a fun direction,

  • Glam Dixie

She looks beautiful and the puffiness appears to be gone from her face. My only quibble is the wigs look chip in a chip way.

    • Shibori Girl

” chip in a chip way” I think I love you! Now I am going to have to remember where that phrase comes from.

      • Glam Dixie

        Hint: Project Runway

        • Shibori Girl

Duh! I have been away for a while – can you tell? Good to be back. Of course it’s Nina!

          • Glam Dixie

It wasn’t Nina, it was guest judge Alberta Ferretti, but for the life of me I can’t remember who she was hitting with that insult. The heavy accent made it.
Edited because I remembered, it was Kit and Ricky with that giant floral hooped Scarlett O’Hara dress.

          • Shibori Girl

Gosh – I have been gone too long – not that I am watching PR now – sigh – it was so good in the old days.

          • Glam Dixie

            It really, really was.

  • imspinningaround

Aha! I found them! The shoes in the first look are the ones Taylor Swift should’ve worn.

  • I love her outer space drag queen Anna Wintour.

  • Good girl, Gaga! GOOD girl! Way to leave those awful black stilt shoes at home!

*pats her on the head and stuffs treats in her mouth*

  • IraKi

She looks fabulous in the second outfit! On any other person it woud scream “CAUTION EXTREMELY FLAMMABLE” but on her it looks super cool in a sci-fi sorta way.

  • bellafigura1

Well, you fellows are being awfully kind. She … no, I just … girl, neither of those are your dresses, and definitely not your undergarments. If you’re gonna try “normal,” please get thee to a bra fitter.

    • halleygee

I was wondering if it was just me, I am completely underwhelmed.

    • rks

Me too. She needs to get better undergarments. I mean those things are smushed down in BOTJ dresses and those wigs are hideous. I think everyone just likes the look because it is semi normal and she didn’t pair it with those black shoes…but still this is only good in a not so bad way.

  • Sarah

Y’know that scene in Overboard where Goldie Hawn dreams about being at a swanky boat party and gets confetti stuck in her lashes? That’s what Look #2 is making me think of. But, bless. I’m so glad to see her wearing the Shoe of Humans, and the gowns are pretty cool.

    • Lori

Thanking for proving that I am not the only person who references Overboard at random moments.

      • kimmeister

Do you occasionally declare that the shelves must be made of cedar?

        • Lori

Sometimes. I’ve also been known declare that it’s a hellava day at sea.

  • MilaXX

Love the first look & I’m especially happy that she’s wearing normal high heels for a change. The second is campy but campy in a Ricky costume store kinda of way. I’m not loving it.

  • Corsetmaker

If Princess Leia had worn the first frock she’d have got Han Solo to move a hell of a lot faster!

  • GorgeousThings

Totally chanelling Angelique Pettijohn in “Gamesters of Triskelion”.

    • Don’t give her ideas, she’ll be wearing tinfoil nappies next time we see her.

    • formerlyAnon

The episode AND the actress cited by a commenter who also can weigh in to display serious Garment Construction Skillz. God, this blog has an amazing readership.

  • Deansweetie

I really love the first dress, but I just don’t find her decolletage all that attractive. She always seems tremendously saggy for a woman so young.

    • Ros

No, she isn’t. She just has normal breasts and isn’t wearing structural engineering to make them defy gravity.

      • Anthonyash91

She gets a lot of flack for her breasts and I don’t get it. Breasts come in all shapes and sizes and a lot of women have so-called “saggy breasts”. The only difference is that Gaga doesn’t have a problem with letting them show.

    • RunAmuck

There are so many fake ones out there that real ones are now considered strange looking. It’s sad.

    • Erica_Vuitton

      Boob shaming? Really?

  • rh33

    Your feet look great, baby.

  • marlie

I LOVE the first look – everything about it. Fashionista Gaga needs to stick around. I like the second look too, but not as much as the first. But she’s not doing crazy for crazy’s sake, which I appreciate.

  • Shibori Girl

You know, I do love the look of the metallic fabric in the skirt on the second dress. There is an ethereal quality to it that is most pleasing, although in the bodice the effect reads a little plastic (yikes – polyester). Both looks have a presence that says, “Because I am Lady GaGa and you aren’t”. What isn’t to love about that?

  • Anthonyash91

I personally enjoy CrazyGa more than DemureGa but I cannot deny that I love when she dresses up like this. She constantly gets comments about how “ugly” she is and it’s nice that she’s able to dress up and show people that, hey, she can be pretty too.

  • Lilithcat

Honestly, the only thing that could have made this better was if her skin was dyed green.

    Don’t give her any ideas!

    • SierraDelta

I was ready to type the same thing.

    • Honestly? I’m kind of hoping they do! I hope Gaga’s verbally smacking her team around right now, asking them why the hell they didn’t paint her green for that second look. And that a few months from now, when the coast (seems) clear, they’ll do her up in another “sixties space babe on the prowl for (ahem) Kirk” look complete with green skin. 😀

  • alliekat9090

Sorry, but I think all of this looks cheap (as in inexpensive) and awful- gowns, makeup and especially the hair. My God the hair! OK, I do like those sunglasses.

  • teensmom99

She’s beginning to riff on Donnatella and it’s fun.

  • elzatelzabelz

I can actually take her in both these looks, which is saying something as most of the time I wish she’d just go away.

  • VioletFem

That first dress is what I imagined a Dynasty inspired super-hero would dress like.

  • YoungSally

i wonder if the second dress is, in fact, a tribute to the actress who was a Star Trek babe….Sarah Marshall….the NY Times even used her STB (Star Trek Babe) photo in the obit. Gaga says that there is meaning behind all of her outfits.

    • Therese Bohn

Sorry to hear that Sarah Marshall died — I have a Trek blog, will note it, thanks. As to Gaga, maybe, maybe… Is Steffie a Trekkie? (she should be!)

      • YoungSally

It was in the NY Times at some point last week. You should be able to pull up the obit somewhere on the web.

Would Steffie be a Trekkie? Or a Trekker? Somewhere I heard that the hardcore fans prefer the latter.

        • Therese Bohn

I found it, thanks, and posted my own tribute on my blog (just type in trekkerscrapbook). Hardcore fans do prefer Trekker, but it goes either way for me!

  • SewingSiren

Love capes. All of them. And green skin would have killed .

  • Jacqueline Wessel

Now I really want to see that last look with her skin dyed green.

  • majorbedhead

She looks great in both looks, although the shades in the first look are giving me some serious Principal Rooney vibes. I keep expecting her to flip them up and say ” Les jeux sont faits. Translation: the game is up. Your ass is mine.”

  • demidaemon

I am mostly surprised by the fact that she seems to be wearing normal-ish shoes. Can’t complain here. She looks mostly great in both looks. Keep this up, Steffi, and we might stop bitching. Maybe.

    • StellaZafella

      Never. Stop. Bitching!> ;0)

  • Elana Bryan

Not digging the boob droopage in the first dress…if I were her, I wouldn’t wear a dress with that large of a keyhole. That dress is meant for smaller, perkier “ladies.” I love the second look though.

    • murt

I loved that she wore that dress – the red carpet needs a greater diversity of boob looks besides just ‘perky.’

  • ms_kat

Her skin looks disturbingly orange in the first picture….almost oompa loompa territory.

  • LaSylphide

The first dress without the keyhole would be perfection. And that BELT. I want that BELT. The second dress is so …. normal.

  • Jacob Bowen

Okay Steffi, while I LOVE that you get to say “Fuck you world, I’m beautiful.” I want some more of the Gaga fashion that I LOOOOVVEEEE!

  • bitchybitchybitchy

While I really like the first look,I just flat out love that second one-Gaga’s having fun!

  • MannahattaMamma

The faux-Marie Antoinette hairdo sits weirdly with the Star Trek forehead spangles, but in these photos she does, at least, look like she’s having fun, which is a change from the other stuff recently, where she just looks tortured & tired.

  • PeaceBang

The bad wigs! Such pain they cause me! But I love how she morphed into Barbie Marisa Tomei in the second outfit. So clever, that one.

  • Imasewsure

I’m guessing since she is a fellow song bird she probably wore something “understated” out of respect for Carole King. The second outfit I love since it’s wacky and fashion-y at the same time. I like my Gaga with a dab of whimsy!

  • Those lashes must be the most lethal thing this side of ninja stars.

  • MissusBee

I like the natural boob look in pic 1. Non-squeeshed-altered-padded-taped boobs are giving the outfit serious attitude. Work it Steffi.

  • HM3

The fabric in the second one looks cheap. Definitely reads Star Trek/alien queen, but in a Halloweeny sort of way.

Lovin the first look! Was she at the Grammys??

  • KayEmWhy

They both look like cheap Halloween costumes.

  • MzzPants

It seems like she’s been dressing a certain way for West Coast events. Am I imagining that?

  • Jessica Freeman

I just want to give her a round of applause for not wearing those god awful 12 inch boots. She really is gorgeous, wished she’d stay this course more often.

  • That belt! Oh, I die. 🙂

  • Jecca2244

did she perform at the Grammys? Husband and I mostly watched other tv shows when it was on.

  • quiltrx

I like both of these for her. The first is very old-school Hollywood, turned up to 11; the second looks like wedding wrapping paper in the best possible way. I guess she’s going for the bad wigs on purpose at this point (that first is SO La Stanwyck), but I wish she would get some better ones or just use her own hair for a change!

  • BitterOldQueen

I actually love everything about the first look, including the wig and glasses: it just looks amazingly elegant and sane for La Gaga, for whom normal can now be the new wacky. The Orion Slave Girl look I’m less thrilled with; seems a little boring, and the bejazzled eyebrows just don’t work.

  • stubbornthoughts

This is the Gaga I know and love.

  • murt

hahahaha – star trek babe is the perfect description for the second look. She looks exactly like a couple of the women Kirk made out with at some point.

  • MoHub

Bill Thiess would be proud of the second look.

    • Therese Bohn

      He sure would!

  • formerlyAnon

Missed this Gaga. You go, girl.

  • Erica_Vuitton

First pic is OG Gaga! The wig and glasses… it’s like The Fame Era LOVE IT!!!! The second look I think perfectly illustrates how different she can look depending on how her makeup is applied. Honestly, don’t know if Tara is still her “face painter” but if she is, she’s been killin it lastly with the softer looks. Except those eyelashes are too heavy.

  • OK, after a very long drought, the second one made me crack a smile. Bringing it back, Gaga.

  • JaCory Deon

The first outfit is Raffaela Carra (w/o the attitude or body) and the second is, dare I say it, pretty.

  • LindsayGoon

I love me some Gaga, but she looks like Tom Petty in a Dress in that 1st photo.

  • guest2visits

Even though Star Trek vixen is spot on for the second look – I wish she had used her raw, natural look/styling that she’s done in couple of editorials with the beautiful gown – I think it would have had a lot of impact.

  • Demeter

In the first picture she looks like Edith Head.

  • LambeeBaby

I hope she gets to Fuck that Kirk guy circa 1970 rather than Kirk 2014.

  • SistaT

What in the entire hell is going on with her eyelashes in that second set of pictures?
