Kerry Washington in Tory Burch at the 2014 Winter TCA Party

Posted on January 21, 2014

The ladies are getting all kinds of inconsistent as they try to find an outfit for every occasion for awards season. Miss Kerry had a disaster on the SAG Awards red carpet, but she’s rebounded nicely here. Since we tore her a new one last time, we feel the need to give her a gentle “attagirl” this time.

“Scandal” star Kerry Washington attends the Disney ABC Television Group’s 2014 winter TCA party in Pasadena, California in a Tory Burch dress paired with a Kotur clutch, Christian Louboutin pumps, and Pomellato and House of Lavande jewelry.

The dress is really cute.  Every one of the accessories seem a little random to us (the necklace almost clashes with the clutch), but we like each item on its own. Still, it’s maybe not all coming together as well as it should, but we’re glad to see her keeping things relatively simple for herself. We’ll take a couple nice, but poorly matched accessories paired with a cute dress over that trashbag skirt disaster from the other day.

The necklace is what I’d lose. It is too large in scale for its proximity to her face, and it don’t go. I dig the shoes with the dress, though, it’s a cool idea.

    • SugarSnap108

Definitely ditch the necklace. I like the shoes with this dress, too, which kind of surprises me. But damn, her poor back.

    • filmcricket

Agreed. Shoulda gone with earrings if she felt she needed something near her face.

    • housefulofboys

Agree completely. Love those shoes so much. Her face is so pretty with this pregnancy, too.

    • e jerry powell

For a second there, I thought the shoes were meant for that dress.

    • editrixie

She can take the necklace off and give it to me. I love it.

    More of this, please, Kerry!

More of this, please, Kerry! (PLEASE.)

  • RL McGruder

Beautiful – and I particularly like those shoes!

    • MoHub

Yeah. But I can’t look at them without thinking how wrong they are for a pregnant lady.

  • SewingSiren

Everything right with this that was wrong with the other. Except the shoes, which make my lower back ache with sympathetic pregnancy .

  • msdamselfly

    She looks lovely

Simple seems better for her now

  • acevedob

I love the whole look. She looks like a normal person.

  • sugarkane105

I love those shoes, though I’ll never be skilled enough to wear them while pregnant. The dress is simple and great.

    • CelandineM

I was never and will never be skilled enough to wear those shoes. Am bowing down to her right. now.

  • flamingoNW

Those shoes are killer. Too bad about the accessories. Make-up is stunning

  • KinoEye

Lovely. Much as I like the shoes, though, I think they fight with the dress.

  • Allie Carter

You would think being pregnant would get you out of having to wear those shoes…

  • LeelaST

Cute dress! More than makes up for the cropped pink foo-foo top & black tent of a skirt! Q: Is the hand on the stomach (or worse, 2 hands above and below) to celebrate a pregnancy or to reassure everyone the celeb isn’t one call away from Jenny Craig? I wish this pose would go away.

    • Alyssa

I’ve always guessed its so people will know she’s pregnant, especially when looking back at pictures in a few years…could be wrong though. I especially dislike this pose when it’s obvious that they’re pregnant…I understand it more when they’re not really showing, but it still reads annoyingly in pics.

    • TeacherH

Maybe the baby just kicked. Or is digging its little foot into her ribs or liver or something. After about 6 months, I’m sure my hand was on my belly all the time. Those fetuses are damn distracting.

    • Random Compliments

When I was pregnant with my boys (twins), I found myself always touching my belly, even though I normally loathe that pose. For me, it was always a response to either kicking, or gas, or just not knowing where to put my hands since I had a massive belly in the way of everything. Could be that.

  • ElaineMarie34

I would not want to pregnant and wearing those heels, although I kind of love them. She’s a gladiator. Also: I now feel I want to defend the pink over-top-thing and the black skirt! It was a creative attempt that just went wrong with the slit sides on the top. She gives us so much great fashion and beauty and brains, let’s give our Kerry a tiny break.

  • marlie

I LOVE this. Nice rebound, Kerry. The dress is cute, and her hair and makeup are perfect. I like the shoes, but not with this dress. I love the necklace, and I like the clutch, just not with this look.

  • Denise Rambo

    I would SO wear this!

  • Kane

I hope her clutch has a rainbow assortment of markers, because I feel a strong urge to color her dress.

Seriously. It’s like a page ripped from one of those super-detailed coloring books that you can get at your local Michaels store. Kerry Washington’s Frock: Where Creativity Happens!

    • Jacob Bowen

      PERFECT!

    • Danielle

Or one of those velvet posters you used to buy at the Scholastic book fairs in elementary even though your parents made you SWEAR you would use the money on an actual book this time.

    • ElaineMarie34

Someone was selling a dress in a black-and-white print with markers a few years ago. It was super-fun.

  • Billie_Dawn

Cute, but for some reason, I can’t help but see Betty Rubble here.

    • Imasewsure

You are so right… I think it’s the necklace but it also looks like something Betty might have worn on a fancy dinner out with Wilma and the fellas (maybe to see Ann Margrock in concert?)

  • Eva_baby

She looks very pretty here. I love the slight fullness her face has as a result of the pregnancy. She looks lush.

  • Imasewsure

No like for the shoes or the makeup but the dress is fantastic on her.

  • http://tvblogster.blogspot.com Boop

I love everything here. I see she’s trying to add a pop of color, and I think it works fine. Lovely baby mama!

  • crash1212

Pretty dress and she looks SO beautiful. While I love the necklace, that’s the piece I would ditch for this look. Love the shoes.

  • melanie0866

She looks adorable. I love the necklace with the dress, but dislike the clutch. Each would have been OK without the other.

  • AnnaleighBelle

    A kitten heel wouldn’t be a crime.

  • amaranth16

Ennhhh… s’okay. I think pretty much all the accessories are horrible with this dress. I’m so sad – I thought for sure she’d be owning the crap out of pregnancy fashion.

  • bitchybitchybitchy

This look is a good recovery after the SAG mishap. Love the hair and makeup.

  • MilaXX

I don’t like the way the necklace color is fighting with the clutch, but otherwise this is a cute look. Her makeup is really nice.

  • quiltrx

That dress is really cute, and flattering. But hell, I feel like I can HEAR the argument the necklace and the clutch are having with each other! A shame, I like each on its own.

  • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

I didn’t mind the necklace until it started arguing with the clutch. The shoes work surprisingly well and I love the dress and makeup.

  • LJCdoc

Every time I see a pregnant lady with shoes like this, I want to hug her.

  • MannahattaMamma

All I can think about is the hell of that pregnant body resting on those shoes. She’s beautiful and stylish — why can’t she follow Emma Thompson and say screw it to the killer heels — as a pregnant woman she has more than enough reason to chuck ‘em. My back aches in sympathy.

  • Closet Crisis

oh thank goodness, she’s recovered from her hormone-induced fashion brain cramp.

  • Tom Robinson

Why do pregnant celebrities always have to touch their baby bumps?!?!?! Why??

    • julesj

I agree; we get it, you are pregnant.

    • DeniseSchipani

I think it’s to drive home to “do NOT confuse me with a fat person” point. Seriously.

  • Tracy_Flick

That necklace looks like Jolly Ranchers. I totally could have gone for a Jolly Rancher necklace during pregnancy. I wouldn’t mind one now, come to think of it.

However, it looks out of place with that dress, as do the shoes and clutch.

  • carnush

    The woman is radiant!

  • Diego!

I love it. But I don’t mind necklace and clutch, what’s bothering me are the shoes… to matchy with this dress, which fits her like a glove and is 1000 times way better than the one she wore at the SAG’s.

  • AnneElliot

I like the shoes but not with the dress — and I can’t imagine wearing those stiletto heels while pregnant! But to each her own. Definitely lose the necklace, though.

  • Monabel

I like the necklace very much, and the clutch is OK. Pinks, purples, reds and oranges can to together in interesting semi tropical ways, IMHO.

  • http://victoriapavlova.com Victoria Pavlova

Her face is glowing, damn her good genes. Love shoes+clutch, dislike the dress-necklace combo

  • amf0001

I like the necklace. I would not make a pregnant woman were shoes that high

  • Kent Roby

This dress is (marginally) better than most of the other Tory Birch ensembles we saw recently, but I’m still not a big fan.

  • LindaLaPaz

Cute look, but she’s kinda got crazy eyes going on in the third pic.

  • Gatto Nero

Vast improvement over the Prada disaster.

  • E. D.

    Switch the shoes.

  • http://www.tinseltine.com/ Tinsel & Tine

She didn’t need the necklace. Hate the clutch ,it has that 80′s throwback look I hate.
