Oh sweetie, being pregnant doesn’t mean you have to wear (admittedly fabulous) tents!

  • MilaXX

I know it’s a giant tent dress, but I don’t mind it. It’s not a super formal event and since everyone knows she’s pregnant it no longer feel like she’s trying to hide it.

    • SugarSnap108

I’m trying to figure out exactly why I don’t mind this. Because my cold, dark heart usually doesn’t mind criticizing a pregnant woman wearing a tent. Maybe her face makes everything better?

      • DaringMiss

Yup…her face makes all things better. On top of being beautiful, her pregnancy glow makes her stunning.

    • Jennifer Peters-Ahnberg

It’s cute and looks comfy. She looks like she feels fabulous. I like it.

    • marlie

I would rather she had worn this to the SAGs. It’s less formal, but it still would have worked so much better than the crap she did wear.

  • Garcia Loca

If Miss Kerry wants to feel comfy and carefree, who am I to say no?

  • Sobaika

    That’s a gorgeous smock?

On an average day I shlep about in leggings, so I can’t even imagine being pregnant in couture. She looks happy and comfortable, face and hair are beautiful.

    • If I were going to be ultra picky – and since it’s the internet and I’m a pseudonym talking about a famous person I’ll never meet, so obviously I am going to be ultra picky, because duh – it looks a skosh too voluminous in the last picture. Even accepting it’s a tent dress designed for the highly pregnant, I think she could still have been comfy with a little bit less volume. Last picture is maybe an itsy bit close to big in a silly way, as opposed to big in a comfy way. I will say I’m glad she opted against the sheer version paired with granny panties.

  • cmb123

As a woman who just gave birth to my second child, I feel justified in saying this – No. Always no to a dress that makes you look like a tent. This is so very unflattering. If she’s going for comfort, fine but those shoes say she isn’t. This is just bad.

    • princessricky

i could be a bit more forgiving if she was 40 weeks cause honey, do what you want by that point, but I dont think she’s that far along yet?

      • Coleen

I am going to wildly speculate that she’s having one of those pregnancies in which you carry all around (rather than just in front), and it’s making it harder for her to find things that she finds both flattering and comfortable.

  • stubbornthoughts

    Oh God.

  • Jessica Freeman

That’s one very expensive tent she is wearing….

ETA, as a skirt for a formal gown, this has great potential. As it is, it looks like someone put straps on a skirt…its just so odd…

  • ralish

Tent dress, plus high, plastic shoes. It’s like she wanted 7/8 of her body to be super comfortable, and the rest to be in pain as punishment.

  • Gatto Nero

I think it’s beautiful and easy and a vast improvement over the belly-baring Prada. Let’s face it: her options are limited at this point, and not every ladystar has to wear a body-hugging sheath while hugely pregnant. It’s a sweet, swingy dress and miles from what used to be maternity wear. She looks lovely.

    • demidaemon

I agree on the improvement part. Do I think she has better options than this, though? Yes.

  • bxbourgie

Noble effort Kerry. I don’t hate it, but I’m not in love with it. I think if she wasn’t a total miss at the Golden Globes this might get more of a pass from me, but it just seems like she’s having issues getting the red carpet right now that’s she’s showing a little bit more.

    • Spreecord

I can’t help but feel that another couple of inches in length and it would have looked just about perfect.

  • Laura Renee

Cute! At least until the side view, when it became ludicrously large, but still cute overall. Thank God she got it lined. Wish she’d let her teeth show.

  • alyce1213

This would be adorable on a 3-year old, shorter of course. She looks comfortable, but it’s too much — she ain’t that pregnant yet (see shoes).

  • leahpapa

The best part about being pregnant – you know, aside from the impending arrival of a mysterious, miraculous creature who somehow managed to change my entire world while weighing less than my laptop – was feeling the freedom of being all out of fux to give. This looks ridiculous, but she looks like she knows it and is kind of enjoying it. Serve up your Coleman camping realness, Mama Thang.

  • murt

I like this – love the dewy makeup too.

  • The top starts too high under the arm – looks really uncomfortable.

  • deelup

Girl, wear tents. But not this one.

  • If only she had worn it with the flat shoes seen on the runway, this would have been the awesome. 🙂

  • It looks like a skirt hoiked up to her arm pits.

  • Danielle

Saaaaad. You don’t have to wear a bodycon dress but a tent does no one any favors.

  • Sarah

It is a tent, for sure. But that’s not my problem. I think it is not well-fitted to her bust, and I don’t love the fabric or the shoes.

  • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

It’s fine until you see the side view. Kerry dear, even preggo dresses have darts to take away the tentyness. A soft belt under the boobs would have fixed this.

  • CPK1

Do not like. Either on the model or on Kerry.

  • Pepper Pan

“They told me I could be anything, so I became a lamp”

  • Diego!

It looks like a circus tent, but she looks amazing! She’s back in form after two weeks of hideous dresses. Thank God! 😀

  • Miss_Led

Her parachute is opening. I think she could use a little more shape.

  • clatie

  • SewingSiren

I love it. It is wonderful in a ” I’m pregnant and you all can go fuck yourselves “kind of way., PS ” I’m ready to sit down, and there better be food at this shindig”.

  • Tracy_Flick

A shape best saved for two-year-olds.

    • Genesis Hansen

Exactly! I’m all for comfort, but this looks like a little girl’s dress. She could do so much better.

  • marlie

It’s a little too tent-like, but I still wish that this was the experimental fashion look that Kerry had tried at the SAGs, instead of that awful two-piece crap she wore. I also don’t think the pin-straight hair is the most flattering on her, but I like her makeup a lot.

  • ewes_urn_aim

Fashion isn’t always about the “ooh” and “aah” of sexiness or seriousness- sometimes it’s about humor. And this made me laugh out loud.

  • webslice33

i am now convinced she’s clueless as regards to dressing up while pregnant

  • MannahattaMamma

No. Just no. It’s not funny or ironic or anything other than the shower curtain from an expensive hotel.

  • KinoEye

Tent comparisons aside, this is still light years better than the pink mess from the other day. On a different note, I’d always heard tell of the changes your face undergoes during pregnancy. I never really thought about it, but after looking closely at Kerry, wow! Of course she’s still absolutely gorgeous, I’d just never realized how it can change your face. Cool!

  • msdamselfly

She looks gorgeous. Wish the dress was not so full

  • Qitkat

From the shoulders up, she looks beautiful. From the ankles down, she looks like she’s on a teeter-totter. The voluminous middle says she is possibly an octomom-to-be.

  • Jacqueline Wessel

If it weren’t so stiff I would like it more.

  • quiltrx

it’s a tent, but it’s a REALLY cute tent. It sort of looks like a beautiful skirt they didn’t have a bodice for, so they just put straps on. Those shoes are ugly AND look like torment, though.
I’m going to give her this one…it’s really cute, and if Cate can wear a tent and look chic, preggers Kerry can too.

  • Janet B

I don’t like it on her; she’s too full through the bust for the dress to hang gracefully.

  • kimmeister

This ensemble was calling for a pop-of-color clutch if ever I saw one.

  • MartyBellerMask

    Oh, for fuck’s sake.

    • sagecreek

You know, I was trying to find the right words, but you beat me to it 🙂

  • Imasewsure

Eh I like it. It’s cute and if ever there were a time you could get away with looking like a cute tent, this is it. Why not… like but not love

  • A tent.

  • pookiesmom

Poor girl is kind of lost on the pregnancy style front, isn’t she?

    • The Counselor

I am concerned about this myself, as I advance in my pregnancy (I’m just at 13 weeks). I usually feel pretty self-assured in my personal style, but it seems that pregnancy dressing can go so wrong, so fast, in so many ways. And as soon as you get the hang of where your body is for the moment (or at least think you have), it changes again. But I’d be okay with looking the way Ms. Washington does here.

      • pookiesmom

First: CONGRATS! Second: I wouldn’t worry about it (unless you plan on walking the red carpet during your pregnancy–in which case, ROCK ON). With Kerry, I think it’s more of a personality thing than anything else (inasmuch as personality comes through the RC photos) because she always looks beautiful…yes, even in that two-piece atrocity she wore to the SAGs which burned holes through my retinas with its ugliness. It’s like she’s so used to looking impeccable on the RC, that her pregnancy photos always seem a little panicked and uncomfortable to me. Like she’s muttering under her breath “Here I am! Take pictures quickly, please, there seems to be a large bulbous appendage growing out of my belly and it is pressing on my bladder.”

        • demidaemon

To be fair, it is entirely possible that those are exact thoughts.

        • The Counselor

Ah, I get what you mean now. And thanks 🙂

  • LaSylphide

Love it, especially the ankle length, which makes it less like a tent.

  • MyFavoriteColorIsGlitter

girl, calm down. you’re not THAT pregnant yet!

  • nycfan

  • Monabel

    Twee. Vast.

  • oohsparkley!

Makes me want to pick her up and ring her like a bell. It’s way too stiff, silly and huge and yet still kind of cute.

  • Miranda

This dress aside….her face is simply glowing…she’s so cute.

  • DesertDweller79

This would be so fab if it were the skirt to a gown. As is, it’s kind of weird. But, she looks comfy and I like her hair and makeup.

What I really hate about it is that it is sheer. Freaking crazy to make this thing sheer! When will this trend DIE?!?! At least she had sense to wear something under it.

  • SierraDelta

Her face is gorgeous. That…garment…is a throwback to ’50s maternity wear and should be sent back in a time machine.

  • demidaemon

Cute. Feels like an embroidered schmatta, though.

  • Fred Vaughn

    She’s wearing a tepee.

  • formerlyAnon

I think it’s an adorably clean look. But I’d want to have seen it considerably shorter, just to see how it looked, before making up my mind.

  • superemang

looks like something my Mom wears when she doesn’t feel like seeing anyone.

  • Sunraya

    Adorable? Love it!

  • MandyM

My 3 year old would look great in this.

  • Jennifer McGuire

    Shoes: AGONIZING. Ow.
