Kaley Cuoco in Sachin + Babi at the People’s Choice Awards

Posted on January 09, 2014

Way to do nothing with a cute skirt, Kaley.

Kaley Cuoco attends the 2014 People’s Choice Awards in Los Angeles, California in a Sachin + Babi ensemble paired with Aperlai sandals.

Sachin + Babi Spring 2014 Collection

That top’s a big ol’ nothing. We like the shoes, but we would never have paired them with the skirt, given that they’re almost exactly the same color. Her hair looks like she swam her way here and she’s wearing bracelets she won as a prize at a carnival. We realize the PCAs are somewhat more casual, as celebrity awards shows go, but this look reads daytime, except for the makeup. It also reads “mess” because it’s so poorly put together. Tsk.

It really is a cute, eye-catching skirt.

It is. It’s an adorable skirt. She could have done so much more with this.

  • Carleenml

I love the show – I wouldn’t say if I love her but she’s fine in the part – but I just never see her wearing anything that looks stylish. The skirt on the model looks adorable.

  • sugarkane105

I kinda wish she had duplicated the runway look, though I know that’s frowned upon. Girl looks a little haggard. Didn’t she just get married? Where’s the look of post-nuptial bliss?

    • marlie

She’s still in the honeymoon phase, so she hasn’t been getting much sleep?

    • Really? Wasn’t she dating Henry Cavill a few minutes ago?

ETA OK I checked past posts and it was 6 months ago. But still.

      • marlie

I forgot about that! It wasn’t THAT long ago, though.

        • 4th of July weekend – they did the grocery shopping together.

          • marlie

            Girlfriend moves quickly.

          • kimmeister

Yeah, they were engaged after like 3 months of dating.

          • Jecca2244

didn’t she break off another engagement right before Henry? maybe someone else…

    • Jecca2244

getting married was the most tiring thing i’ve ever done. too much attention aimed at me and general anxiety : )

  • Not just a carnival, but a school carnival. The kind where there’s a cake walk.

    • Danielle

I’m picturing the giant parachute we use to all play under in gym class. You know, the striped one with the hole in the middle.

      • I miss parachute day! I remember the first year in gym when where there was no sign of the parachute coming out and thinking, “I guess I’m too old.”

        • kimmeister

Where on earth did you have gym class with parachutes?

          • I grew up in an Air Force town. I hope Danielle’s story is more glamorous!

          • Sarah

We had it in northern VA too. No military, just parachute fun.

          • fursa_saida

We had it too, but not literal parachutes like military-style. Just one really big (REALLY BIG) circle of parachute-type fabric. My favorite was the one where everyone is holding the edge and throws it up and then down so it forms a dome, and you have to run across underneath it before it comes down.

ETA: whoops, and by “we” I mean “we in the Boston area.”

          • kimmeister

Wow, i went to school in CA, WA, and OR and never heard of such a thing. Guess we do things differently on the west coast.

          • We in Sydney did too, but I think they hired them in specially for school fun stuff, because they only came out 2 or 3 times that I remember. They were big enough for the whole class (about 30 kids) to stand around.

  • Latin Buddy

I can understand her thinking. The skirt is already focus-pulling – intricate design, bold color – so the stark black top makes it a tad more modern. I agree that the hair is lame. She should have done a pony tail and gold cuff.

    • Bridget Smith

I also really love black & bright blue together, so I think the clothes work. Though maybe nothing else.

  • elirt

She’s usually overly and harshly styled so I would say this is a bravo for her.

  • Erica_Vuitton

Nope sorry any skirt that does that to your hips needs to be removed and burned. Also Kaley when you pose like that in a long skirt your feet look like they were severed and sewn back on to the wrong legs aka stop it.

  • Sarah

As a person with 1000 black tops, I feel weird saying this, but I don’t think black was called for here. Another color, or white, or even metallic? I dunno, but black looks too severe with the skirt.

    • kimmeister

I vote for a thin, silvery top!

      • Sarah

Ooh, yeah, that would help with the awards-show aspect, too. And maybe go better with her evening makeup.

    • martha

I think something simple in the same color as the skirt would look nice

  • Alyssa

This girl never can get it right on the red carpet.

  • suzq

Yikes. Brad Goreski put the outfit together. I know the hair and make-up gals. I hesitate to show them this review, but I bet they’re already reading it.
It’s a shame. That skirt is very pretty, but under some lights it looks like the top of Grandma’s dust ruffle on the bed.

  • jw_ny

The 2nd pic freaked me out a bit, until I realized she was doing the pee pose. XD

For such an attractive woman, she’s really not photogenic. She also has an odd style sense.

  • Introspective

    love the skirt. beautiful color!

hate the hair and makeup. top is cute with the skirt for a sunday brunch look. for an awards show in the evening though? nah.

  • Monzerrat Ontiveros

I would never wear that top having that arms… And I have them, so I don’t wear tops like that…

    • Imasewsure

I think her arms look great… it’s the rest of it that has to go

      • formerlyAnon

Yeah, I think a strong shoulder and arm look good. I know not everyone does, but I think swimmers’ shoulders are sexy.

  • marlie

This is a going-out-to-brunch outfit, not an evening-awards-show outfit.

    • Introspective

  • Trickytrisha

She obviously thought this event was a country hayride and decided to make her hair match the theme. Those are some pretty puzzling style choices she made.

  • MilaXX

    Total daytime look

  • Yes BUT think how awful she has looked in the past! Grading on that curve I am giving her an A-.

  • Jessica Freeman

I really think Sachin + Babi started the shittery with the length. She topped it off with her “styling”.

  • hughman

On the model : “Weekend in Barbados.”
On Kaley : “I pick at my skirt because my meds have worn off.”

  • cocohall

She got married rather quickly, and I suspect she forgot to factor in the mandatory appearance for this award show in planning her nuptials. For the record, hubby didn’t look at all thrilled to be spending his Wednesday sitting there either. She looks as if she jetted back from honeymooning and basically threw this on at the very last moment. I always prefer her in photos where she is riding her horse. She looks in her element there. Otherwise, it never quite comes together for her fashion wise. But I like her, especially after watching her support her sister on the Voice. She was truly a good sister on that show, not stealing focus and cheering like a crazy person. Bless her.

    • formerlyAnon

Glad to hear good things about her because although I know nothing about her I’ve always found her likeable.

  • Tracy_Flick

Her feet are on backwards and her hair is eating her. It’s like a weird Japanese horror film.

  • VicD

It’s a cute skirt for Fiesta Night on your Mexican Riviera cruise.

    • kerryev

It looks very World Market to me.

  • I thought this was Aniston on the thumbnail. If that doesn’t scream do-over, I don’t know what does.

  • ShaoLinKitten

She always looks drunk to me.

  • She goes for a notably different look each time out. I like the skirt. And yes, she’s a great comic actor – she’s got the funny!

  • Matthew Davie

Her new husband was sitting next to her in the front row – wearing what appeared to be a Gap t-shirt and jeans while his wife was in full Red Carpet finery.. I was YELLING at the TV for him for being so freakin’ lazy.

    • Imasewsure

In his “defense,” wearing jeans instead of tennis shorts was probably his idea of “dress up”

  • SouthernGirlRena

I really like the skirt but it is far too casual for a picture-taking event. Pair this with cute sandals and yoga hair and it is a perfect Whole Foods parking lot outfit.

  • swissgirl

She reminds me of a young Goldie Hawn whose hair always looked dirty and whose outfits never looked chic.

    • sagecreek

Except I don’t think she’ll age as well. And I like her. But.

  • boweryboy

I’m probably in the minority here, but I think that skirt is all kinds of ugly. It probably looks better in motion, but still…

    • sagecreek

      O, I don’t think you’re in the minority 🙂

    • formerlyAnon

Even though it doesn’t look to be significantly longer on her than on the model, I don’t think she’s tall enough to ever look great in the skirt. It’s too wide for its (her) length.

  • nannypoo

I think she looks casual and cute. Someone should tell these women that the pee pose does not work if you’re wearing a long skirt, unless of course her feet were severed and reattached to the wrong legs in which case she is posing just fine.

  • MK03

I can’t believe I never noticed that the People’s Choice Awards hands out giant crystal vaginas to winners.

  • teensmom99

Is Kaley a member of the “I don’t need no stylist club?”

  • kimmeister

I don’t even like the shoes. I think they would make any foot look wider than it really is.

  • formerlyAnon

I like her better than most people seem to (maybe I just don’t know enough about her) but I have to say, why?, why?, WHY? with her makeup? It’s way too former cheerleader (and self-applied) and the foundation is off (or maybe just photographs off) and it all combines to make her look almost haggard.

ETA: It’s a cute skirt but I’m not sure she’s tall enough for it to ever look properly insouciant on her.

  • bravobravp

Some people can not do the smokey eye and this is a prime example.

  • EEKstl

Great skirt, and I do not fault her for choosing a simple black top. Those shoes in black would have worked really well. Maybe I’m nuts, but that Farrah-esque, JBF hair isn’t killing me. The bracelets are, tho.

  • Why are her make-up and hair always so bad? Can she not afford a decent gay?

  • aquababe

She kind of looks like she could be Jennifer Lawrence’s older sister in that first picture.

  • Leah Elzinga

weirdly, I feel like this would have been a good time to deploy the crop top. Nothing crazy, but the same shape, in white, with a sliver of skin would have balanced this out. It also would have made it wholly “summer” but whatevs. As is, the proportions are not so good.

  • GillianHolroyd

    Uluwatu lace.

It’s not really but that’s what it looks like in the pictures. Cheeeeeeap ass rayon..

  • Jessica Wyatt

She always makes the weirdest faces on the red carpet. Like she’s trying to pick a pesky piece of popcorn out of her molars.

  • veronkimo

LOVE the skirt! The combination of the lighting and her makeup is truly unfortunate. She looks so sallow.

  • CatherineRhodes

    Isn’t that Jennifer Lawrence?

  • Jecca2244

i would wear this to work….

  • Bootsy

Beautiful, endearing actress who photographs awkwardly– agreed. Part of her charm.

Can we discuss the style of the *award*? It’s a giant thud. In the top photo it looks like Ms. Cuoco is brandishing a Black & Decker clothes iron, or perhaps a stolen Lombardi trophy. In the second from the top– call police! She’s about to kill herself!

  • Diego!

’90s Britney Spears anybody??? That “I’m a slave 4 U” hair is way over. Hate the make up and top. The blue skirt and blue shoes combination is a NO.

  • LambeeBaby

It’s completely appropriate for a day time beach wedding.

  • Jitka Pavlíková

Sigh. But Mayim Bialik looked lovely!
