Oh, honey, that dress makes it look like your boobs are literally at your waist. Clearly, you should have noticed that.

    • conniemd

I kept looking and looking at that trying to decide if it looked like she had two sets of boobs or whether the boobs looked like they were at her waist. Awful either way.

  • Oh lordy NO!!!!!!!!!
the fit on that bodice is tragically wrong for her.

    • Tatiana Luján

      is it right for anyone?

      • Though we have not seen a runway shot here, I suspect the issue is that she is simply too short for this dress, and the problem comes from the bodice being to long for her torso. Its a consistent issue with these borrowed frocks lent out to these wee tiny star ladies.

        • conniemd

I don’t understand why designers don’t account for that. All models are tall and look great on the runway and the frocks are designed for their body types. Not knowing how designers selling is done, do they only do one dress? Obviously there are lady stars of all heights and body types who wear designer clothes that are leant, so why don’t they send the ladystars dresses of appropriate sizes and proportions to wear?

          • What the lady stars are offered to borrow, are the runway samples. Those are all fitted to the models, who average between 5 foot 10 and 6 foot 2. They are only given very limited permission to alter a dress, since it will be returned and then lent to someone else. Alterations like shortening a bodice are not permitted, so fit issues persist. Why designers think it does them well to let ill fitting clothes attributed to them get seen and photographed is a mystery.

agree – nicely stated. Although according to my friend who does shows the avg ht is around 5’9 – unless I’m remembering wrong. But there are many dresses out there in the universe. so why settle for something ill-fitting?

    • mshesterp

What a ridiculously awkward fit. Are designers just plumb out of ideas??

    • TAGinMO

“Wow, these dinner rolls are great! I wonder how I could smuggle a few out of the restaurant…”

      • GreenTurtle

Haha! Those aren’t dinner rolls in there, TAG. I think there’s a whole spiral ham.

  • schadenfreudelicious

‘I’ll take guess where my boobs are for a $1000 Alec”…

  • MilaXX

I like this in theory because Julianne always looks better when she keeps the fashion simple. However, the top of that gown looks like she’a wearing her backwards or something. It’s a weird fit.

    • 3boysful

I thought same. Love hair and makeup, tho.

      • MaggieMae

        Me too!

  • jw_ny

It looks like she has the gown on backwards. wtf is happening at her midsection?

And, those shoulder pads….homage to the upcoming Superbowl?

  • mjude

I want to love her in this. oh well her makeup looks great. I still love ya julianne!

  • Qitkat

She looks very pretty. I’m fascinated by the rings, the clutch is lovely, and the shoes are fine. But the dress is oddly reminiscent of a paper doll dress, as the cut of the sleeves look pasted on her.

  • Everything but the dress is good. The dress is very bad.

  • Cloveradams

There’s something about the way the light is falling on (or sinking into) the top of that dress, and its weirdly skewed lines, that are reading Colorforms Barbie to me.

  • SugarSnap108

This looks like a sleeveless straight-jacket — which makes no sense, I realize. But her face is so beautiful.

  • desertsweetpea

  • Judy_S

    I don’t understand that dress.

  • bertkeeter

    Someone hates women!?!

  • Glam Dixie

Julianne, you are lumpy, dear. LUMPY! Not good. Not good at all.

  • rabswom

    It makes her look…lumpy.

  • Jessica Freeman

…and she’s been doing so well lately. The top of that dress is a huge failure. Just…what?

  • bitchybitchybitchy

The top of the dress is not flattering at all-it looks lumpy or blousy. Any guess as to what the fabric is? It’s as if the design and fabric are fighting each other.

  • Elana Bryan

    Pretty makeup…the end.

  • boweryboy

Servicealbe, but boring. At least it’s not a Frankendress.

    • demidaemon

      Small favors.

  • JP

    No. Just, no.

  • Boring dress, but beneath, she’s beautiful and she glows. And that counts for something.

  • Amanda Welliver

I’m actually enjoying some of the dresses I’ve seen lately that have this effect. It’s transformational fashion in my mind, the sense that clothes can be interesting without having to force bodies into a narrowly defined silhouette. (slender waist, round but not-too-big hips, just this much cleavage and breasts at just this height…)

  • allcapsERINN

I can’t even tell what the hell is going on here.

  • mlle

If you excise her torso from the equation, I like it, but the bodice of that dress looks like the new waiter messed up when he was folding the napkins.

  • Kathy Monkman

Does she have this dress on backward?

    • 1964edithgrove

Just about to post exactly this.

  • Imasewsure

What an awkward ugly dress but at least it’s one dress and not a mash up of two ugly ones! Face is beautiful as always

  • marlie

From the neck up, Julianne looks really pretty. As for the dress, it had the potential to be interesting, but the bodice is too stiff and boxy. That ring she’s wearing is pretty awesome, though.

  • Funkykatt

Oh but doesn’t she look good!

  • EEKstl

The blouson effect is weird; would have worked better with a more streamlined bodice. But I do like the sleeves and she looks beautiful from the neck up.

  • Wow, that is a weirdly shaped top. I keep thinking I see something moving around in there, like she’s smuggling in kittens.

    • twigg

      snacks for the movie?

  • ailujailuj

I do not understand what is going on here.
In other news… I have SUCH a huge crush on this girl… always have. And I’ve always thought that her best look is blurry stoned exotic 60s housewifery – as in “A Single Man”…

  • French_Swede

All kinds of NO to that neckline. How did anyone let her out of the house dressed like that?

  • dashwoodstole

Oh noooo honey. It looks like someone’s stuck a cardboard cut out of an ink blot to her top half.

  • kimmeister

We’ve heard of Minnie Mouse shoes, but now we have a torso that resembles Mickey’s head.

  • KinoEye

    Meh. Killer ring, though.

  • E. D.

  • acevedob

Yuck. Is it made out of paper?

  • Virginia McMurdo

What the…. are those her boobs??

  • lunchcoma

Remember the Sherlock movie (I know, the OTHER Sherlock), where RDJ wears clothing designed to help him blend in with the furniture? That’s the only explanation I can think of for Julianne wearing that hideous black blob. It would have worked better if she’d had some of the Non-Stop lettering printed on it.

  • sagecreek

What the heck is going on with that bodice?

  • queeniethebold

i love her and think she’s very beautiful. Her hair and face look gorgeous, and the black even looks good, but oy.

  • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

Oh good Lord, that TOP! Burn it, burn it now!

  • Lilyana_F

Ok, it’s safe to say that’s a strictly “no boobs” dress. It just looks awkward on her. And I’m not entirely sure what’s going on with the eye make-up.

  • LeelaST

I don’t like it. Make it stop. Weird below/side bodice shape, weird shoulders. Her eyes look glued shut or open or ? ODD!

  • I love the whole damn thing.

  • lifeisastory

From the waist up, it looks like a shapeless potato sack.

  • SierraDelta

    Hideous bodice.

  • Linda Leeson

    The neckline confuses me terribly

  • ShaoLinKitten

Trying not to focus on that top… wondering what the ring is supposed to be. My 4 year old says “eagle” but it sort of looks insect-like.

  • Well…..for once she isn’t wearing shoes that look painful? (I think that comment falls into the category of “damning with faint praise”.)

    • demidaemon

Yes, I was just thinking that. “Wow, appropriate shoes! Too bad about the dress…”

  • Pterodactyl111

    HIDDY. Awful shape, just dreadful.

  • demidaemon

I don’t know. I don’t love it, but I don’t hate it either. Not loving the bodice at all, though. It’s weird, and I don’t think she’s pulling it off.

  • agree – looks totally like it’s on backwards. Lolz over here!

  • quiltrx

I’m going to concentrate on the neck upward, where she looks incredible.

  • AnnaleighBelle

I…I don’t understand. Does she have a triangle hidden in her top?

  • GreenTurtle

Elena Slivnyak sleeves! Sweet Jesus, noooooo….

  • Milos Mom

I like the dress. Unfortunately, all is ruined by it being a bad fit. Let me guess…. Someone picked the dress last minute and did not have time for alterations?

  • guest2visits

Even though I think she often goes too arty & severe – I think this works beautifully for her.

  • Kikishua

Is that on backwards or something? Strangest fit I have seen in ages!

  • Gatto Nero

Interesting concept, but the structure of the bodice is giving her body a weird shape.
The black is also very severe on her.
