Jennifer Lawrence in Dior at the 2014 Golden Globe Awards

Posted on January 13, 2014

Since we’re such kindhearted, gentle souls, we’ll start off with the compliment. It’s an odd one, coming from us. In fact, it’s the exact opposite of what we usually say when we don’t like a look.

Jennifer Lawrence attends the 2014 Golden Globe Awards in Beverly Hills, California in a Christian Dior couture dress paired with Roger Vivier shoes and clutch and accessorized with Neil Lane jewelry.

Christian Dior Fall 2013 Couture Collection

She really nailed it with the styling. Hair, makeup and jewelry all look great – although we question whether the earrings really coordinated with the bracelets. Minor complaint, though. What this dress needed more than anything was bold accessories that suit Jennifer and are dressy and formal enough for a Dior gown.

By the way, Lorenzo didn’t like her lip color but Tom thought it was a great choice for a colorless outfit. Discuss.

As for the dress, it’s a big ol’ nothing to us. It looks like a cheaper version of her Oscars dress, oddly enough. She probably thinks this is her lucky silhouette now.

Curtains and duct tape do not a dress make.

    • Vtg Fashion Library

Exactly! Motel 6 Project Runway challenge reject.

    • FisherKing

      You’re thinking of electrical tape…

    • YoungSally

      Old school body bag.

  • Annarosa

like the styling, dislike the dress.

  • CT14

I don’t like the dress, but I’m glad she changed the top belt.

She’s pulling it of by sheer force of personality.

    • mshesterp

Looking at these pictures, I like it better than I did on screen last night. And the punky hair and dark makeup are working for me in a way her soft Oscar look didn’t as much (but only in retrospect, comparing the two). She’s so fun.

      • Mary229

This dress looks better in photos then I think it did in motion .

  • PastryGoddess

Love the styling and lip color on her. I agree this dress was a snooze feat but I’ll take that over the awkward silhouettes she’s been wearing

  • Anna_Cecilia

Styling is impeccable and quite a remarkable achievement considering the dress appears to be a bedsheet accessorized with seatbelts at the waist and mid-thigh for some reason.

    • jen_vasm

Lots of Instagrammers dressed up in white quilts, towels, etc tied up with black ribbon. A testament to the basicness of this dress. JLaw deserves better. Great effort on the styling, though.

      • Anna_Cecilia

I know. Such a gorgeous girl. Such ugly dresses she is contractually obligated to wear.

  • colleenjanel

I can’t hate the lip color … At least it IS a color. I hope we’re seeing the death of the nude lip.

    • DebbieLovesShoes

  • s k

The lipstick when she’s smiling looks too Jokerish.

  • Diego!

I’m sorry but I like the dress very much. It was eye-catching and she had FLAWLESS make up and hair. I agree with the coordination between earrings and bracelets but it is a minor complaint actually. She looked beautiful!

    • DebbieLovesShoes

Contrary to everyone else’s opinion here, I agree with you, Diego. I loved the dress and thought she looked beautiful.

      • Diego!

Thank you! We are only a few haha LOL 😛

    • barbarienne

I like the dress as well. It is her lucky silhouette, because in this dress, she looks a million feet tall.

Would a more luxe fabric have stepped it up a bit? Sure. But sometimes simple is better. The whole look focuses on her face, which I assume was the point.

    • AnguaVonUberwald

I agree too! She looks gorgeous, head to toe.

    • Robin Murray

+1 from Colorado, Diego. I thought she nailed it.

    • manina

I also love the dress, which probably would not look this good on almost anyone else. She is very easygoing and natural and in good shape. The styling is wonderful, she looks so alive, always having fun.

On the coordinating jewelry, I myself hate coordinating jewelry, and every somebody coordinates, they get slammed for it. I think it should look like you are wearing your favorite stuff and it kind of goes together, same era, not necessarily the same color.

    • Adriana_Paula

I like it too! I would totally get married in this dress.

  • bitchybitchybitchy

The dress looks like a shapeless sack cinched with two boring belts-that this came from Dior disappoints me.. The makeup and hair are working for JLaw.

  • Cee Layton

Apparently, the House of Dior was raided by a fashionable band of maurauders. All they left were the bed sheets. “Let’s get creative.”

  • gayle

I don’t know who the right designer is for her but it is not Dior. She needs to burn this contract and move on already.

    • CLoverleaf

      Calvin Klein.

      • gayle

Yes, that is one of the best dresses she has ever worn!

      • lunchcoma

Yup. It’s a shame those two didn’t sign up for each other instead of this Dior mess.

    • gabbilevy

It’s like when your BFF has a truly terrible (for her) boyfriend, but you can only tip-toe around it, because she won’t hear reason, and you just have to pray she’ll see the light and dump his ass.

      • demidaemon

A very apt and well said analogy.

    • marlie

I like Calvin Clein, but Michael Kors would work for her, too. And maybe Donna Karan. Designers with a slightly simpler silhouette, nothing too avant garde and editorial.

  • Spreecord

The lip colour is great. Pity it fights with the eyes.

Make that hair a titch brassier and that entire head would be a perfect homage to the Dixie Chicks circa the mid 90s.

  • Little_Olive

The dress is tragic on its own bit especially on her. Did she take her boobs off and put them on her hips? Bad fitting.

Per the styling, I agree that the dress needed all the help it could get but the hair might have been a bit much for me. Some will say it goes with the “aggressive” lipstick, I say it looks aggressive period. Keep the lip color and redo the hair.

  • M_E_S

I saw it compared to the rope dress that Ariel wear when she gets her legs in the Little Mermaid and now I can’t unsee it

    • StelledelMare

I was just about to say that. I really can’t stop seeing it now

  • Carly Clement

I love this dress the more I look at it, but i dont think many people besides JLaw could pull it off and it was refreshing to see an interesting silhouette when then night was full of the traditional a-line and column …. I love the lip colour and accessories, but I HATE that eye make up… it is too much make up for her face to handle, the awkward colour eye-shadow is just too distracting when she already has the bold lip!!

    • AnneElliot

I agree, I think she should have gone with one or the other — the dramatic eye OR the bold lip. It looks a little cheap to me to have both. And the dress is very disappointing.

    • demidaemon

If this is what we are calling an interesting silhouette, please blind me now.

    • kimmeister

Plus, her face was almost too matte.

  • The fit seems oddly off for her. I can’t put my finger on exactly what.

    • Sarah

Riding low on top, lumpy in the middle, and bisecting her into three weird parts?

      • formerlyAnon

The riding low is the only thing that bugged me. But it’s sooo common that I’m starting to think that I’m wrong. Also, I love her shoulders.

        • Adriana_Paula

Nope, I’m with you. Hoik that sucker up.

    • AudreysMom

It must have been. Each time she was featured she was pulling up the bodice.

  • Arjay Gallo

It’s Ariel washed up on the beach in a sail and old ropes. Bleh.

    • Anna_Cecilia

      Haha! So true!

      • AnneElliot

YES! Totally made me laugh out loud!

  • I believe Tom is correct on the lipstick and I share your doubts about the earrings and bracelets. They don’t need to match but they should at least speak to each other. She’s got that lovely Art Deco-style bracelet on and then are they jade & coral earrings? that speak to more mid-century, I would have thought.

    • decormaven

Great eye for the jewels you have, m’dear. Bless JLaw for at least wearing the good pieces- shame she’s stuck with the Dior contract.

    • filmcricket

The earrings are at least on speaking terms with the ring she’s got on her other hand though. However, I’d have preferred to see just emerald earrings instead of the coral. The biggest problem with those earrings IMO is that they’re fighting the lipstick. She’s got a very wintry shade on her face and very summery jewels framing it.

      • Adriana_Paula

  • Jaeda Laurez

I love her from the neck up, but I saw someone who cinched a comforter in 2 places on Tumblr and thought “That’s about right.” Not the most interesting look, but she did the most that she could with it by adding some cute accessories and zuzhing up the hair. .

    • Sobaika

One of my favorite tumblr comparisons was Ariel – you know when she ropes ratty sheets around herself after emerging naked from the ocean?

      • Jaeda Laurez

Yes I did! Another winner. I forgive it because she’s got a contract with them, so she’s gotta wear their stuff, but the brand truly doesn’t fit. She needs some sportswear company that skews young with color, like a Kors.

    • MilaXX

Have you seen the Siamese cat one? Hilarious!

      • Carrps

        I liked the puggle!

  • Introspective

still trying to get used to the hair. but good styling sassed this up & away from princess territory.

dont like the dress. sorry girl. dior aint doing you any favors. time to move on.

    • DuBey2

Yes. I do miss her long hair.

  • KayEmWhy

Sorry, but the dress looks like two garbage bags and a curtain. Love the hair, hate the lipstick.

  • Mary Elizabeth Poytinger Baume

she does have great face there…i just wonder why any woman would want to double belt under your ass to make it look like you are a gigantic snowman? I feel like she should have taken either a bracelet or a ring off…seems like too much too much to me…that being said, earrings, I’ll take a pair, please.

  • Sobaika

    Belted bed ruffle.

  • shirab

If she were lying down she’d look as if she were strapped to a gurney on her way to the ER. Not a fan.

    Pretty earrings!

    • charlotte

      Can’t unsee that!

    • decormaven

It’s more like a winding sheet to me. Cue “Eternal Father, Strong to Save.”

  • SophiaPehawkins

It looks like when The Little Mermaid wrapped a rope around a sack in order to make a dress and not have to walk around naked. Except, Ariel did it better.

    • Angela_the_Librarian

Actually, I was getting a slightly different Disney reference. Remember in Sleeping Beauty when the fairies try to make a dress for Aurora without using magic…I’m pretty sure they’re design looked something like this (but in pink instead of white)!

  • rage_on_the_page

So, as the face of Dior, is she only allowed to wear Dior? If that’s the case, maybe landing such a big deal at an age when you can pull of so many different styles isn’t such a boon. Girl needs something different.

    • marlie

I think for the “big” events, yes. For the ‘Catching Fire’ poledance, she wore Dior to all of the premieres, but sometimes a different designer to the less formal photocalls. And in those cases, she almost always looked better. Dior is just not for her.

      • demidaemon

It is probably written into her contract.

  • Barbora

She deserves better than Dior. Agree with Tom about lip color.

  • Pennymac

Giant pillowcase and electrical tape? I LOVE her. There were some much worse looks on that carpet. This one is a mild miss.

  • Claudia Fernandes

don’t like eyes makeup with that lipstick. Too much

    • Tatiana Luján

On top of that, the makeup is for cool coloring, but the hair dye is for warm coloring and the hair and makeup are fighting.

      • Claudia Fernandes

Indeed. What a sylist failure for such a cute young girl

  • cmb123

the ribbon detail below her rump is awful. It looks like she made this dress from a bed sheet. And the lip color is terrible. She is such fun, she needs a dress that reflects that.

  • Sam Erin

Rachel Zoe knows what she’s doing, that’s for sure….but I hate it. It looks like it could be the lining of her Oscar dress, no?

  • CLoverleaf

Well…it looks better on her than it does on the model…..that’s all I’ve got.

  • @Biting Panda

Gorgeous lipstick AND jewelry, are two things we pray for around here. Ah, the Fashion Gods giveth and they taketh away.

  • Jessica Freeman

I think I quite like the dress….but she could have ramped it up so much more with more statement jewelry.

  • MilaXX

The dress became an internet meme with folks comparing it to the Little Mermaid’s dress & taking selfies of themselves wrapped in sheets and such. Still I like the dress, thought she did indeed nail the styling. The lip was great on her. It was a really good way to wear a dark lip and not look goth. I liked the earrings and would have done without the darker bracelet

  • altalinda

In theory this dress is bad, but she made it look terrific and, as you say, the styling was great. I like the lip color.

  • Feathers McGraw

Gotta say I usually (practically always) agree with Lorenzo, but I’m with Tom on this one. Somewhat boring dress but pretty much saved by everything else, including lip color.

  • ChaquitaPhilly

Well, it sort of IS her lucky silhouette, isn’t it!?

  • LaDonna Carpenter

I’m in the minority, obviously, but I really like this dress…not as much as last year’s dress for the Oscars, though. JLaw carries off these usual creations with such poise and yes, her styling team needs their own Golden Globe for always making her look so well put together. I could care less about whether the bracelet and earring “go”, she looked amazing!

  • SewingSiren

  • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

I’m with Tom on this one…the strong lip is striking. But you gays are right as usual…Dior is not her look.

  • Tatiana Luján

I don’t like the way the makeup suits her with that hair color. If her hair were brown, the makeup would suit her better.
The dress looks like it were made out of tissue paper.
    I like the earrings.

  • RussellH88

After seeing pictures comparing it with Ariel’s Makeshift dress from The Little Mermaid, I can’t see it as anything else.

  • Judy_S

Well, if she chose the silhouette to bring her luck, then we will see a lot more of it.

  • mommyca

To me the color of the earrings clashed with the lipstick…

  • jw_ny

The dress is kind of a big old nothing…which drew all attention up to her gorgeous face. Loved her hair and makeup…dramatic. I especially liked the lipstick color, although perhaps this was a touch too heavy with the eye shadow. I got a chuckle this morning watching GMA…pics of people mimicking her dress with bed sheets and two belts.

  • brown-eyed girl

I’m one of the few who liked the dress, also. Could have been styled better–not wild about the accessories or the make-up, which strikes me as a bit harsh. She looks like she feels pretty and is having a good time. 🙂

  • Kimmu

Is she campaigning for the part of Ariel in some lavish live action Little Mermaid that doesn’t exist? Because that dress is the Dior knockoff of her sailcloth and rope one.

    Colton Haynes did it better.

  • Aidan B

I also thought this was evocative of her Oscar gown; definitely less suited to her and less flattering, though. And I agree with Tom, I thought the lip color was a great choice.

  • Glenn Johnson

I’m trying to decide if the dress (which it kinda stupid looking to begin with) needed one less strap or one MORE, perhaps around the knees. As it is it looks like she’s not quite unpacked from the box she was shipped in. But it’s Jennifer Lawrence and SHE looks great. The dress? Nothing wrong with it from the waist up.

  • ferngilly

It’s a Donut. Donut like it.

She looks like a alien version of Helen Mirren stuffed in a chinese finger trap.

  • Danielle

It looks like the sail Ariel tied around herself before she met prince Eric.

  • Lori

Things I should never think when looking at a Dior—-“That dress is just dumb. It doesn’t even rise to the level of ugly, it’s just stupid.” It looks like it was thrown together out of bedsheets and ribbon. Also, I don’t care how great your bum is, covering it with a big old wad of fabric and then drawing a line under it is not the way to go.

Hows much longer is she contractually tied to Dior? Please tell me this is the last awards season for this ill-fated union.

    • demidaemon

I am so with you on the stupidity of this garment.

  • Clueless_Jock

Would have been fine without the second belt.

  • marlie

It was utterly boring. She really looked stunning from the neck up, but the dress wasn’t all that pretty or interesting. I’m starting to think that she’s just lucked into her good outfits, because she’s mostly underwhelming to me.

  • carnush

Disappointing dress, lovely jewelry. Don’t love the lipstick. Meh.

  • Martha Anderson

    fabric looks like bargain basement.

  • MaggieMae

Hair and make-up are stunning. Beautiful lip color and so glad she did not go with a harsh bright red that seems to be the thing these days.

  • Evan

Wish she had worn a statement necklace.

  • Joe Schmartin

Bracelets & manicure are super fabulous. Dress is super blah. Hair is super cute.

But man, that makeup is super not good. The shimmery 80s prom photo lavender eyeshadow? The too-long, droopy, wispy eyelashes? The scruffy eyebrows? The warm Chinese red lips fighting with the cool pastel eyes?

And all of it clashing with the glowing green earrings? Yeesh.

Someone get Charlize Theron’s makeup artist in here to show her what award ceremony makeup should look like on a pretty blonde girl in a white dress.

  • MNStargrl

It’s a bed sheet tied with ribbon. It’s something I would have made while I was playing dress up at 9 years old. However, JLaw could make a potato sack look HOT so…..

  • SugarSnap108

I would normally think this was too much makeup, but it’s perfect with the white dress and bare shoulders. Her head looks fabulous.

The dress….I would never want a belt under my booty. I am glad, though, she lost the buckle on the top belt, which looks silly on the model.

  • Emily Smith

I actually quite like this, mostly because it looks comfortable. Like, I can sit in this and still breathe. I could eat in this, and you would not immediately know it unless I spilled all over myself.

  • Verascity

The lip could have been one iota lighter, but I liked it. I thought her makeup looked great. The dress… someone compared it to Ariel’s curtain dress from The Little Mermaid and now that’s all I see.

  • leftcoastpickle

God I love her, but I immediately hated this lip colour on her, too dark, a slightly lighter shade would look better, but I understand the need for drama on the lips here.I’m thinking it’s time for lip colour to change to all colours, the way fingernail colours have changed. A mid tone pthalo blue or green lip, that would be awesome and tie in those earrings.

  • TLJezebel

The hair has finally gotten to a good place.

  • Tony Adams

It wasn’t as bad as Sandra Bullock’s pitiful dress.

  • Clydette Wantland

I thought it was one too many bracelets. Otherwise very nice.

  • Aurumgirl

I made better looking gowns for my Barbies using tube socks and brightly coloured elastic bands when I was a kid.

  • A Shiny O’Connor

Against my better judgement I liked this. And Julia Roberts fashion fluke.

  • Erica_Vuitton

The green & orange in the earrings & the dusty purple eye-shadow throw off the whole look for me. The lips match the nails so I could’ve gotten behind the dark gothy lips & black jewels if the eyes were darker and the earrings didn’t have the green. That second to last head shot looks a mess.

  • d4divine

I loved the styling and I think the dress was ok…it probably looks a lot better in person.

  • Rachel

I thought her head was beautiful but her body had been snatched by the French feather-duster in Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast.”

  • Adrianna Grężak

Don’t mind the lip color, hate the eye make up. Mixed feelings about the dress, agree about the comment regarding her previous Oscar dress

  • Shawn EH

Love the styling and the lip and nail color; love the touch of green in the baubles, and the killer black and white bangles. So-so dress, almost doesn’t matter.

  • CatherineRhodes

I wish she’d worn the long black gloves as shown in the runway look.

  • KinoEye

Raf Simons. We meet again. Her head looks great. Those belts are chopping up her body in all the wrong places. Ugh.

  • conniemd

I don’t hate the dress and it didn’t make me gasp in a bad way. It didn’t detract from her face and hair. Saying someone looked good doesn’t mean one has to like the dress. It’s more a matter of how fabulous she could look in a really good dress.

  • Jessica O’Connell

I think her hair and makeup, including the lip color, look amazing. Hate the dress. Dior really gives her the worst stuff.

  • tvmovielover

She looked great but kept tugging on the lower band of the dress so it did not look comfortable.

  • NYCGlamourpuss

Love the hair, the lip color, the jewelry – it’s all perfect for a dress that needed POPS! However, oddly enough, there’s something about the dress I do like. I don’t think this is the best Dior can do for her, but there’s something about it that’s interesting. The fit is very good, which makes up for the odd style. I think if the fit had been off, it would have been more of a disaster.

    • Imasewsure

Yes definitely not hate-worthy but just a little dull… the shape really isn’t bad especially from the back but you want her to turn around and show something better than what it is… just ok not disasterous

      • NYCGlamourpuss

Right – I think, for a girl who can wear many things and look gorgeous, but who has also gotten it wrong many times (to be fair, at the hands of Dior), this is somewhere in the middle.

  • ErikaM812

I think she is wearing too much make-up. She looks much better with a more natural face. Not loving the dress too much either. However, she was really great in American Hustle and deserved the win.

  • ThaliaMenninger

Sierra Boggess tweeted a side-by-side comparison of this dress with some sheet the Little Mermaid wore in the movie. Yep. Grabbed it off the clothesline and threw a couple of bungee cords around it. Ugh,

  • webslice33

she is a breath of fresh air…the gown could have been better but it’s alright…she’s a winner..she always wins!

  • Dagney

I have always found this silhouette to look bizarre on everyone. It looks weird on the model, like she is wearing a bag that has been tied in an odd manner.

  • Zaftiguana

Daddy T is right on this one, the lip color is great. Sorry, Papa Lo. But yeah, she’s elevating the dress with the styling and personality for days (and a fuller figure than the model, which is a huge improvement), but the dress itself is pretty much David’s Bridal. Maybe Vera Wang for David’s Bridal, but still. David’s Bridal.

  • lifeisastory

It looks like it’s so heavy it’s sliding down. I want to reach in and yank it up an inch or two.

    • Carrps

Yeah, it made me nervous all night.

    • kimmeister

She had to hoik it up in the middle of her acceptance speech. That’s never good.

  • rissa42210

The lip color is very pretty. I liked it on her. The dress, however, looks like an unraveled tampon. Not good, dear. Not good. Get out of that Dior contract ASAP.

  • omg_dora

RAF SIMONS, creative director, Dior. Turn offs: women’s bodies. Turn ons: ugly.

    • demidaemon

  • French_Swede

    Her makeup is a WERQ!!!

The dress doesn’t matter ~ much. She’s young and beautiful and ladylike, so she can get away with something that nobody else can.

  • Jeanettesca

It looks like she was pranked and had to wear the hotel shower curtain because someone stole all her clothes.

  • Snailstsichr

I love everything on the left hand. Like the lipstick or the eye shadow, but not together.

  • ailujailuj

    A stunning head shot.

  • formerlyAnon

I *liked* the dress and the lip color. For some reason this dress brought out my occasional outburst of positive feelings towards her that are summed up as “Awww, aren’t you just cute as a bug!”

  • LaSylphide

    Dior by way of Walmart.

  • Pudgy Possum

Upon closer inspection, I like the makeup, but from afar, it’s really old-lady looking (no offense to those stylish old ladies out there)!

SHE looks beautiful, but that dress….so weird! Not a good look. Looks like stiff, scratchy hospital sheets.

  • e jerry powell

Why are women not wearing gloves in public anymore?

    • Sunraya

I agree!! They are so elegant.

Did someone seriously downgrade this comment??? What the heck???

  • Aaminah Khan

Someone FINALLY got her eye makeup right. Thank heavens.

  • crash1212

Her head looks better than it ever has. Personal best. I refuse to speak of the dress.

  • Cheryl

I think I might have loved this dress, had the thigh belt been eliminated. I’m with Tom on the lip colour, I think it’s fantastic.

  • somebody blonde

The lip color makes her look strangely like Catherine Zeta-Jones. The dress is less awkward than some of the Diors she wore over the past year, but it’s still weird.

  • Can’t believe I am going to admit it — but I kinda like the dress from a distance. Wish she would have gone more runway and worn the gloves and the weird webby looking belt rather than cinching in with electrical tape, though. She’s young and pretty and on a streak. Why not?

  • bouionice

Looks like a bed sheet and some belts or else a lampshade slipcover. Horrible.

  • SorayaS

I hate to disagree with my uncles but I think the styling (as well as the dress) is atrocious. I disagree with the earrings (which would be fab with another look), bracelets and clutch but I do like the nail and lip colour. I really dislike the eye makeup but the hair looks gorgeous. Overall though, v. poor showing from Jen.

  • Trickytrisha

For me this is pretty darned great. A good time for Dior not to let her down. Love her hair now, and find the makeup lovely. I’ve no quibbles with the jewelry and makeup as some of us do. Lots of us BKs (including me) seem a tad cranky after the holidays – must be those damn diets we’ve had to go on.

    • formerlyAnon

I can see what people are saying about the general unimpressiveness of the dress. But she’s 23 and gorgeous with a great body. She doesn’t need the most architected, special dress in the world. That day will come, if she lives long enough. For now, simple and pretty works just fine for me.

      • guest2visits

Agree. I think she looks sensational in a difficult design that hardly anyone could wear so beautifully. I get the parodies of it looking like a sheet wrapped with duck-tape….. sure; that’s kind of all it is. But she is stunning in it.

  • I love this dress – the way it was. She is young, and showing up with a blue belt and opera gloves would have fierce! I do not like the hair at all – it is far too “get out of bed and brush to the side” for me. swept back, finger waved, Madonna from her Papa Don’t Preach days would have been great. I do not know what was going on with ALL of the makeup last night – but NONE of this is flattering for me – many of the stars were wearing very odd eye shadow and makeup in an unflattering 80s fashion. A darl lip with pastel shadow looks like she broke into her mother’s makeup drawer. Call Rooney Mara’s styling team – stat.

  • Sunraya

I hate the thigh belt. It makes me have images of her trying to get the dress up to go pee. Not a good look or image at all. And the jewelry is awesome and the make-up is too much. Don’t like it.

  • Merle Minda

The dress reminded me of an upside-down “tea cozy” actually. But she is so adorable that it really doesn’t matter — beautiful face and figure; lots of animation — she can’t miss whatever she wears. Although the lip colour was too harsh.

  • Synnamin

I love that this created a meme. So I can’t hate on it too hard

don’t like the eyes and lip together, and that lip color is just a shade too serious.

  • demidaemon

This is a supremely dumb dress and I hate it.

Everything above the neck is beautiful.

  • Pterodactyl111

Love the lip color, especially with those earrings. The dress is eh.

  • LauraDelRey

she looked amazing in that red dress at the 2011 oscar ceremony. beautifuly long hair… curves… now she looks like a 12 years old child in a very ugly dress. Shame. I like her. Short hair doesnt suit hair at all, and she lost too much weight.

  • I love her short hair. I know I’m in the minority here, but I think it looks sensational on her, plus that makeup is perfection. The dress looks like a bedsheet tied up with string, but other than that – she’s gorgeous.

We complain so much about Dior gowns after Galliano left. It makes me sad thinking of what he could have done with her.

  • Nicola Anna Molly Page

Someone already compared it to the Ariel ‘dress’ on my fb feed. You know, with the sail cloth and rope? Yeah.

  • Strapped into the feminine Stay Puft silhouette.

  • majorbedhead

Oh man. I saw people on my FB stream ragging on this dress. Now I see why.

What woman in her right mind wants electrical tape above and below her butt? Even someone with as nice a butt as Jennifer Lawrence has. Sheesh.

  • quiltrx

I bet that thing was awful to sit down in, what with the ring-around-the-cooch and all.
I love the styling! I buy her as a still-kind-of-regular girl who can’t believe her good luck to be doing this for a living, and being successful with it. (of course Julia Roberts started out that way, and she’s pretty insufferable now…I hope Jennifer can hold on to this feeling)
Those bracelets are magical, and clever girl carrying the clutch in the less-bedazzled hand.

  • PeaceBang

Didn’t love the dress but adored the styling. She was incandescent.

Have been looking forward to this ALL DAMN DAY. I work with morons so this has been the only thing getting me thru the day – RED CARPET judging =D So onto it.

This is terrible. The dress is….nothing. It looks like those giant white bags that wedding dresses come in, with a bit of tulle and ribbon holding it all together. Horrible. The only thing great is her hair and makeup. I am loving the shit out of her hair. Love the bracelets but the earrings are distracting.

  • bertkeeter

Dress in a more luxe fabric would be great…this just looks cheap…as actually a lot of Dior does up close!

  • katiessh

urgh she needs to get out of this dior contract; why do they keep putting her in all their worst stuff?

  • DeTrop

There is something about her that is captivating. She always looks so ‘in the moment’. Her hair and makeup are perfect. I have a problem with her when she speaks. I get the impression she’s off-the-wall. I’ve seen her on the late night talk shows and while she’s open and funny – she’s FUN NEE.

  • Yung-Wei Tung

This dress looks like a badminton!

  • Lynzee Michelle Lamb

    Lips are a no.

  • smh4748

I love those earrings! Not sure they go with everything as a whole, but they sure are nice.

  • jjjoy

terrible makeup. the ring of black eyeliner doesn’t work for her eyes and that is not her red lip shade. this blue-toned dark red drains all the life out of her face.

  • When is her contract with Dior up?
