Hannah Simone at the Tory Burch Rodeo Drive Flagship Opening

Posted on January 16, 2014

This is adorable. Let’s criticize it together.

“New Girl” star Hannah Simone attends the Tory Burch Rodeo Drive Flagship Opening in Beverly Hills, California in Tory Burch.

Tory Burch ‘Deliah’ Dress

We’re not always fans of her look, because it comes off way too lacquered and polished from the neck up, but if she must do the doll head thing, then a relaxed, colorful piece like this really helps her out. Having said that, the fact that she matched her lipstick to her dress and her shoes to her feet has caused sudden and intense migraines in both of us.

Also: that clutch simply doesn’t go at all.  We’re crashing to the floor, darlings. Here we go.

She needs the stylist and the make up artist from New Girl to be her personal… she looks much better on the show most times than she does on her outings.

    • lifeisastory

I’m surprised by how much I like this. Although I don’t understand what the clutch has to do with anything.

      • decormaven

The dress came from the stylist, but the clutch may have been a personal choice. Maybe it’s a talisman of power to get through the event.

    • SewingSiren

It looks like the sort of thing you would wear to the opening of a Tori Burch shop and kind of fit in with everyone else, doesn’t it?

      • Janet B

        So true.
Hannah Simone and Kiernan Shipka don’t seem like the Tory Burch type. Am I wrong?

eta: Why, yes I am wrong. A little investigating shows Hannah Simone wearing Tory Burch with success.

    • Janet B

Shake out your hair, take off the shoes and put down the clutch. That would be much better.

    • Glam Dixie

She could have done SO much better in the shoe department. ;)

      • Julie Ree

Nude pumps need to die. There- I stated the obvious.

        • demidaemon

Sometimes the obvious needs to be stated. Repeatedly.

    • Tatiana Luján

I really like the dress and the shoes aren’t as ugly or close to her skin color as many silly putty shoes are.

    • @Biting Panda

I hear your complaints, and dismiss them, instantly. I love her. She has to try harder than this to offend my sensibilities…..Swoon.

      • CakesOnAPlane

I love her too – did you know she used to work at the UN – THE UN!!! Smart and sexyyyy!

    • Mrs. Julien

What a perfect dress for a warm spring day.

      • demidaemon

        Hee.

    • KinoEye

Like you two, I love an orange and blue combo. This could’ve been really great with better accessories.

Camp Fire Girl colors always make me happy and this dress is gorgeous. Everything else ruins the look for me.

    • Danielle

Tory Burch is really hit or miss with me. Half of it is highly drool-worthy, and half of it looks like it belongs on the Roseanne set, draped over the back of the couch.

    • gabbilevy

More Cece! All the time! Love the dress, disappointed with the accessorizing.

    • Tracy_Flick

I love the dress and I don’t mind her hair/makeup too much. But the clutch and shoes – oy.

    • Rand Ortega

      Clutch– Needle Scratch.

    • marlie

Strangely enough, the lipstick doesn’t bother me, but the shoes are making me rage-y. Otherwise, really adorable look.

      • Introspective

agree that the shoes bug. she could have gone with something different from but in the same color family as the shoe the model is wearing. that would have made for such a gorgeous impact with the dress and her skintone.

oh well. she’s still pretty stunning.

      • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

I’d have gone just a hint darker with the lips, but that colour as it is suits her so well.

    • In_Stitches

The lips don’t bug me. I suppose she could have gotten away with glossy pink, but anything in the red family isn’t going to work so she made a fine, if safe, choice. She does, however, need to curl her lashes. They’re sticking straight out, making her look a little sleepy.

The shoes were a lazy choice. Color-wise she’s kind of out of luck. What’s shes supposed to go with, periwinkle pumps? I guess she should default to the almost-always-a-good-idea gold sandal.

      • rkdgal

Like you, I wondered what her other lip options are that don’t actively clash with the outfit (which bugs me way more than a matchy lip). Seems like she was going to have to come close to matching anyway, so why not just go ahead?

      • mlle

        Maybe ivory peep toes?

    • Sarah

Those shoes are actually MADE of Silly Putty. She is getting ready to mash ‘em up against some Calvin and Hobbes and stick them in her unmatchy clutch for later.

    • Eleanor

Why does your website keep sending me to the App Store?

    • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

Yeah, hate the clutch and shoes unreasonably but that dress is super cute, if wildly out of season.

    • Joyce VG

Oh dear what a beautiful dress with terrible accessories! Hannah is so lovely though.

    • KateShouldBeWorking

Some JBF hair would have helped this a lot.

    • jtabz

The way she’s wearing the neck of the dress makes me sad. Ruins the line!

      • idgiepug

You beat me to it! I love the neckline on the model.

    • MilaXX

Cute look I don;t mind the clutch although I agree it doesn’t match. it’s the shoes that offend.

    • DominoEstella

I think this is lovely and BTW.. I sometimes like lipstick that matches a lovely dress. That lipstick looks very pretty on her. I wouldn’t change it.

    • mjude

oh dear that lipstick! i do think the dress is cute.

    • frannyprof

      The shoes!!! Why?????

    • Imasewsure

Well at least all the bad makeup and accessorizing is selling the dress. Makes Tory look good anyway… super cute

    • Carolyne

Why oh why are there so damned many flesh tone shoes?! I want to live in an alternate universe where they don’t exist.

    • filmcricket

Don’t mind the lipstick or even the clutch, but the shoes are a giant thud. She looks pretty otherwise, though.

    • Sam Smith

Yes to everything but the clutch.

    • DTLAFamilies

She looks good but the dress is doing all the heavy lifting. Also: I want it.

    • miscorrections

Girl needs to put down the shimmer puff, her cleav and thighs are distracting. And not in a good way.

    • lalahartma

      I do love that dress.

    • ThaliaMenninger

Except for the clutch, I am on board with this look. But then, I grew up in The Matchy Years. I can’t put that part of my life away so easily..

    • nannypoo

That is just a great dress. I love it. I can’t imagine anything easier than accessorizing it. Almost anything would be better than what she did here.

    • Lori

The dress is really cute but yeah, the styling is pretty much a disaster.

    • SugarSnap108

Shoes and lipstick are making me crazy (esp. the shoes). But I love that dress. I want that dress.

    • formerlyAnon

I’d have tactfully (or, maybe cluelessly) overlooked the clutch but the shoes. The SHOES. She could have worn plain little shoes with in an orange or any one of several blues and still been Tory Burch matchy.

    • shaziz

I love this dress! Metallic shoe and nude lip and smokey eyes are what was needed here~ IMHO. The clutch doesn’t kill me… there, I said it.

    • http://tvblogster.blogspot.com Boop

She. Is. STUNNING! Hannah Simone…girl…you got it rocking. Another girl crush over here. But I agree – the clutch doesn’t go.

    • suzq

She’s really cute in this outfit. You’re much too critical. The best of the Burches, in my opinion.

    • http://armchairauthor.wordpress.com/ LesYeuxHiboux

The shoes and clutch don’t match each other or the dress (and they don’t co-ordinate either.) A waste of a very flattering, pretty dress. Not so sure how flattering the lip is.

    • ThesisMonkey

Liked this better from far away. I’m not into the thin layered fabric here, but I like the colors. Those shoes are a sin.

    • pookiesmom

      She looks fantastic.

    • DesertRodent

This is making me crave a charcoal gray pump with some silver bling. Also, I had a dress in those colors in much the same style in 1973.

    • Lis

      Lose clutch, let hair down….

    • marcia miller

great dress on her. The shoes and purse are BAD. A little jewelry would be nice.

    • http://www.lippsisters.com/ Deborah Lipp

      Is she secretly Rashida Jones?

    • allcapsERINN

Aw, I really love it, actually! Even the clutch. Yeah, it doesn’t match, but if it did, it’d be one more thing that matched, which would consequently annoy us.
