Emmy Rossum in Antonio Berardi in LA

Posted on January 08, 2014

Nothing like some sparkle and color in the doldrums of January.

“Shameless” star Emmy Rossum poses outside Mr Chow restaurant in Beverly Hills, California in an Antonio Berardi green sequin dress accessorized with a Rodo clutch.

That’s definitely a “take my picture” getup. So from that angle, good job. But we can’t help thinking this would look better split up; with the top half getting paired with black skinny pants and the skirt getting paired with a tight little sweater. We just can’t seem to stop fiddling with everyone’s outfits lately.

She really has to stop doing that punched by a baby/dying of consumption eye makeup. And we’re not entirely sold on the Blanche Deveraux shoes.

Wait. We did say we liked this one, right? Sometimes we spew so many opinions we can’t keep track of them all.

  • I’m so disappointed that she isn’t doing the model’s backwards lean. Fab dress, wrong eyemakeup, needs a bracelet.

    • TrixieConQueso

THE MODEL Freaks Me The Hell Out. I heard there was a “Zombie Models” trend and THERE IT IS. OMG.

      • marlie

There’s the “backwards lean” model, and then there’s the model with the expression that says “I don’t know what the hell SHE’S doing.”

        • Introspective

i literally thought this model was a mannequin. seriously. like kim cattrall in 88 minus the sex appeal and apparently an even intermittent pulse.

as for this outfit, not bad, but needs some zhuzh, in the hair, and definitely in the makeup and accessories.

          • barbarienne

I thought so too. It’s the model’s incredibly smooth, super-pale skin. Which even if digitally enhanced is probably somewhere close to that smooth and pale, and possibly a selling point for her. Models these days are sought for being interesting looking in addition to beautiful. We’re not in a “girl next door” phase right now.

          • Although the backwards lean model looks very much like the 12 year old who lives 2 doors down. So almost literally the girl next door. Very unusual face!

        • Danielle

What, am I the only one who casually saunters down the street with my back curved like that?

      • butterflysunita

Is it my imagination or are models getting more and more frightening? What’s going on?

    • decormaven

This girl needs a jeweler/loaner hookup, stat. With such a strong column of color and shine, it needs some jewelry to keep the eye moving.

    • Jacob Bowen

Weirdest modeling shot I’ve seen in a while.

  • Sarah

I think the drop-waist effect of pairing the two together is cool. But I’m not sure I think she’s cool enough to wear it. Judging from the shoes, no.

  • Tara Deenihan

I LOVE the lipstick, but the rest of the makeup is a problem. She needs some blush and bronzer, and the consumption eyes need to go. I love the dress as is, though.

And on the makeup… the Meryl and Emma posts had me saying the same thing: why are all these stars going out in pale, heavy foundation with little to no color on their faces, so that they look sickly in pictures and their faces don’t match their necks? If this is a trend, it’s a bad one.

  • Fanny_Trollope

Would have liked to see it a couple of inches shorter. Pink eye makeup is no one’s friend.

    • Tara Deenihan

Pink eye makeup needs to be either aggressively hot pink or very cool pastel pink if it’s going to work. Anything else and you look like you’re battling the flu.

    • DaringMiss

Yup. 1-2″ off the hem would have made it a little less dowdy (although I never thought I would describe an outfit with green sequins *dowdy*)

  • Spreecord

I am in all kinds of hate with those shoes.

  • Carolyne

It’s ‘green day’ at T&L and the entries have been pretty nice.

  • hughman

    Ariel Realness.

  • I need that dress. That is a redhead’s dress. As a strawberry blonde, I am calling dibs.

  • Jacob Bowen

BEAUTIFUL color, but would look AMAZING split up. Her eye makeup looks like she’s dying in the movie “Contagion”.

  • mjude

TLO said “punched by a baby/dying of consumption eye makeup” i think you need to trade mark this & sell it at hot topic.

    • MilaXX

It’s phrased like that that make me know I’m going be giggling out loud while reading their book.

  • marlie

That outfit is fabulous! All she needs is a hair and makeup consult, and this would be perfect – I even love the shoes.

  • Shawn EH

Speaking of Emma Thompson, Emmy was really good in that movie they did about Southern witches eating the scenery alive. Her role was more intentionally comical than Emma’s (what? It was on HBO the other day!).

  • quiltrx

I just love her…the outfit really suits her. That eye makeup MUST go, though.
I can live with the shoes…the outfit, though sparkly, has very simple lines, so I can see the logic in a slightly overwrought shoe.

  • jkatkins

Can’t . . . comment . . . on . . . Emmy . . . too busy quivering in fear in the bedroom closet in case those reptilian models come after me!

    • bellafigura1

What the heck kind of walk is being walked there? So bizarre!

  • Coolekat

Perfect except for the length. Makes her legs look stubby. Color is fabulous.

  • flamingoNW

    I like it a lot.

  • kimmeister

When Anna from “V” plays strip poker . . .

  • I love this ensemble, even the shoes, but I take your point on the make-up. It’s a little too pink-eye-ish for a green dress.

  • In_Stitches

Yeah, this needs to be broken up. The hem on the top gives the illusion of a belly that neither she, nor the model have. It almost looks like maternity wear.

  • Agree the top would look SMASHING paired with black skinny pants but I can’t picture the skirt with anything but the matching top. I do think Miss Emmy looks very, very good most of the time.

The backwards leaning/oddly strutting model pose? Freaking me out.

  • nannypoo

I hate that orange eyeshadow and I’m ready for her to adopt a new facial expression.

  • Nicholas

Shameless chat: are people still watching it? I LOVED the first two seasons, but I just can’t get myself through season three.

    • Jeannie Shmina Greenwald

I am. I agree Season 3 felt far-fetched in many ways but I enjoy watching all their performances that I forgave it its crazy. Hoping we’re back to the core of the show in Season 4. First episode was good.

  • SophiaPehawkins

Blanche Deveraux would never be caught dead in those. Not to mention, if she were dead, it wouldn’t go with her majorette outfit.

  • Jessica Freeman

Everything-hair, make up, shoes-are all too casual for this dress. I want that damn dress. Gimme.

  • Imasewsure

I absolutely love the outfit but I agree it would be even better split up. Shoes are yuck

  • butterflysunita

    Lovely dress on her.

  • MilaXX

I really like the dress, but I agree the eye makeup isn’t good The shoes are okay, but she could have done better.

  • SugarSnap108

I love the dress – wouldn’t break it up. She just needs better shoes and eye makeup.

  • Viviennne

a beautiful girl working it – skirt could be a skosh shorter for sex appeal

  • SewingSiren

I love Susie Sad Eyes. She looks very pretty here.

  • Emilia Clarke should wear this dress for the GoT premiere.

  • Lilyana_F

She opts for this make-up way too often, and it just doesn’t work for her.

  • carnush

What do stylists have against boots? This would look so cute with pointy black booties or even a knee-high pair.

  • mlle

This outfit makes me think she’s a Fashion Alligator, although A-list Fashion Alligators have better makeup and edgier shoes.

  • NYCGlamourpuss

The makeup needs to be fixed, but I LOVE the dress!

  • Dagney

Blanche Devereaux shoes…I just laughed out loud.

  • you go, emmy rossum my sweet princess. you’re wearing my favorite color. just lose the pink eyeshadow and put on a bracelet or two, mkay?
