Elisabeth Moss at the “The One I Love” Sundance Premiere

Posted on January 22, 2014

There’s been some disagreement over Anne’s attempt and Chloe’s attempt, but surely we can all agree that this is the perfect Sundance look, right?

“Mad Men” star Elisabeth Moss attends the premiere of “The One I Love” during the 2014 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah.

She’s got the boots, she’s got the tights, she’s got the perfect little “indie film ingenue” dress. What more could we ask for? Total Sundance. Nailed it, Lizzie.

    Absolutely perfect!

  • Myra Amler

  • SewingSiren

    Yes. Perfectly cute indie ingenue.

  • teensmom99

But we all know that some big bulky sweater is nearby, right? I mean, I’ve been to Sundance and you can’t really wear short sleeves there (except in a photo opp).

    • marlie

Hahaha, I was thinking the same thing. A sweater or jacket can’t be too far away.

  • funwithpurses

    Also: ski cap hair.

  • Laura Renee

Possibly the cutest I’ve seen her look. Great hair.

    • lexilexi

Agree, but I still long for bangs!

    • 3boysful

The darker color suits her so much better than blonde.

  • Adrianna Grężak

I love this look, probably because it’s exactly how I dress – down to the boots, even the cut of the dress.

  • TheOtherChristina

I was all set to disagree with you, but the pictures shut me right up. It really is perfect. I love this look on her. And I might want to swipe her boots.

    • Wow, I must be hitting my “early evening low” because I read your comment really quickly and swore that I read, “And I might want to swipe her boobs”. Then I went back and read it again and thought the same thing. It took a slow survey of every word before my brain finally clicked. HA!

Anyway, I agree, she looks great. When does Mad Men start up again, anyway?

  • mjude

    love it head to toe.

  • Janet B

    Very cute.

  • Lex

Remember back in the day when celebrities wore jeans and sweaters and scarves at Sundance? This is reminiscent of Project Runway season 1, when the contestants were comfortable in sweats. Fast forward to today and they are all dressed to the nines and get their hair and makeup done just to sew clothes for a “reality” show. *snort* Personally, I found it more endearing when celebs dressed like normal people do in snowy, cold locales. With all these fashion outfits at Sundance, it sort of takes away the true indie spirit. That being said, she looks great. Just think it’s lame for Sundance.

    • Alloy Jane

San Diego ComicCon has a red carpet. We surpassed “lame” and moved on to “absolutely ludicrous” some time ago now.

      • MilaXX

Agreed, most of these venues have long since outgrown their humble roots. We are now at the point where every venue is a RC event.

    • kburnell

In Elisabeth’s defense, in the two other pictures I’ve seen of her at Sundance, she’s wearing J. Crew sale rack sweaters and jeans and looks cute. I think this is a nice attempt at putting in a little bit of effort, while not going over the top.

      • Lex

Good to know. I never see these types of pics these days in the media. Thanks!

    • filmcricket

Remember back in the day when there were no celebrities at Sundance, because it was a genuinely indie festival?

There are some knitwear pictures out there. Christina Hendricks was wearing the cutest sweater in one of the pics I saw – I don’t ever want to see the bottom of them because she looked so adorable and I don’t want to ruin it. Slattery was in jeans and plaid too.

    • Imasewsure

That being said at least she is dressing like herself (a city girl from CA) instead of trying to look like a local…bet she has a parka stored somewhere in the building though…

  • Barbora

    Chic and cute as button.

  • @Biting Panda

  • MW

I would wear all of this.

She looks lovely and the hair and make up are really great for once.

  • KinoEye

    Cutie pie! Love it.

  • Jessica Freeman

I would ask for a better print on the dress. Otherwise, good job.

  • Introspective

dress is adorbs. id rock in a heartbeat if i were that nipped in at the waist…

  • MilaXX

    Yes! Sundance chic.

  • hughman

President of the Sleater-Kinney Fan Club.

  • Cheryl

Love it, but I’ve always been partial to the little dress, tights and boots look. Not for the red carpet of course, but for almost everything else.

  • bellafigura1

The idea of the boots is right, but those look a little average, which is disappointing. There are so many great chunky-heeled black booties out there right now … especially at her price range. These are not working for me.

  • LindaLaPaz

    Perfect – just right!

  • ShaoLinKitten

Is it just my monitor, or do those tights look navy to anyone else? That bugs me. Other than that, cute.

    • MilaXX

      they look black to me

  • Allie Carter

She’s also got the wind-swept pink-cheeked, i just came in off the slopes and threw something on…. Which is perfect.

  • Akemi

LOVE. I want the entire outfit.

  • KateShouldBeWorking

She looks like the kind of broad who enjoys good wine but is fine drinking the cheap stuff.

  • tallgirl1204

And the total “partied all night last night” hairstyle and expression. Nice!

  • colleenjanel

My only quibble is that it doesn’t really read January in Park City, UT. I’m getting goosebumps just looking at those bare arms.

  • pattyw

I don’t know. I see perfect for the Indie Spirit awards. But for Sundance, that dress reads way too California.

  • Alloy Jane

She is absolutely a cutie. Love the outfit.

  • SugarSnap108

    Adorable, head to toe.

  • I have the twins of those boots, they are super-comfy. Very cute look.

  • Jackie4g

I had that dress in 1973. I also wore tights and platform loafers. I still love that look.

    • Imasewsure

I had the cullotte version of that dress from Esprit back in the early 80’s too. This is better (but mine was good for the 80’s anyway)

  • I think it’s a little on the 90’s side, but that doesn’t keep it from being cute.

    • Laylalola

Maybe the movie is too? The One I Love made me immediately think the title is from the R.E.M. song, though maybe that was late 80s.

  • ashtangajunkie

I think those are the black leather version of the Rag & Bone Harrow booties that Jenna Dewan-Tatum was wearing the other day. EM looks really cute here.

    • Imasewsure

      Which we loved….

      • marlie

I hated them on JDT, but I really like these on Elizabeth.

  • Trickytrisha

Oooh, love love love the dress and tights. Not too crazy about the booties, but they’ll do. I wish she’d find a hair style that brought her from “cute” to “beautiful”. I did like her blonde phase, but it was oh too short lasting.

  • Imasewsure

Love it that there aren’t horse hoofs, saddles or anything “Sundance-y” about the dress . Cute and simple. Starting to love this one again!!

  • Paula Pertile

    super cute.

  • marlie

I think this might be the first time I see booties and don’t hate them. Head to toe, this is an adorable look. Her hair and makeup are cute, too.

    • I think it is because they dip in the front, so they aren’t stumpifying.

    • ashtangajunkie

I have these booties (which is the only reason why I recognize them) – it took me a long time to find a pair that I don’t hate. I absolutely love them.

  • Granny panties

Great shape of dress. I like the whole outfit.

  • saintebeuve

    Dear Zoey Bartlet,
Could you maybe get Charlie to come to one of these things with you (or is he too busy solving crimes in Santa Barbara)?
    Please and thank you!

  • Bootsy

    I COVET that lipstick.

Ms. Moss often has the sweetest smile. The outfit’s perfect for her, and she seems to know she’s rockin’ it (or “indiepop EDM-ing it”.) The lil’ pendant is such a sublime exclamation point on the whole thing; can’t stop looking at it and grinning.

  • nannypoo

Really cute. The necklace is a pointless distraction but everything else is adorable.

  • ItsDicey

    Cute as hell.

  • Gatto Nero

Very breezy and cute. Looks effortless, which is the best part.

  • MannahattaMamma

I love that she looks happy & smart & even almost like a real person. I always have the sense that she’s thinking clever things behind that smile….

  • Diego!

    Perfect! She looks amazing!

  • CommentsByKatie

This is my life uniform! Black printed dresses, black tights, and black boots. So naturally I love it.

  • decormaven

Outfit is cute and venue appropriate. She’s been especially happy-looking lately- is romance in the air?

  • Joanna Moretti

    She looks great lately. Brava!

  • carnush

    Adorbs! Love her hair too.

  • Hermione

    The whole look is great.
Does anyone have information about the dress, and where one could get it if one could wear it and afford it? 🙂

  • MoreShoes

I like that she went back to dark hair. The blond was washing her out.

  • MissFern

adorable. like an updated winona from reality bites.

    • ashtangajunkie

Lelaina! Oh, how I love that movie.

  • luludexter

she is looking so good lately. I love her.

  • formerlyAnon

That’s a Sundance WERQ, if you ask me. Plus she herself looks cute as hell and happy.

  • Sally Spannagle

So cute! Love her fresh looking makeup, too.

  • amaranth16

    Oh, how cute is she?

  • Perigee

I think EM has recently crossed the style line from “mostly getting it wrong” to “mostly getting it right.” This is cute and on-point. Of course, as a 90’s chic I am probably unfairly biased toward floral prints over black tights.

  • stubbornthoughts

Holy crap I want that dress. Also, she looks great.

  • Ann VerWiebe

    Love it!

  • Tracy_Flick

I want to see the coat she wore with it. Or cardigan, or whatever.

  • allcapsERINN

    Cute. I love it.

  • Laura Livingston

Her hair and booties are tragic.

    • Madam Von Sassypants

Man, this is one of the few times where I am pro-booties. I think they look 90s fantastic.

  • 1tsplove

I know this is crazy, but it’s stressing me out that she’s at Sundance and Kiernan Shipka is all over LA when Mad Men has started filming. Please tell me this will not be another Peggy lite season!

  • ThaliaMenninger

    Nailed it!

  • gefeylich

She looks adorable and quite happy.

  • Home run, Lizzie!

  • BigWhiteGrannyPanties

I live in Utah. Let’s hope she had a coat. Because short sleeves, while cute, are FREEZING and she would have had to wear some kind of sweater thing over it while she sat in the theater, Honestly.

  • Krysta

I mean, *ahem*, are those boots obtainable by regular folk? They are quite excellent.

    • Gatto Nero

They are “Harrow” boots by Rag & Bone. Ubiquitous on young ladystars these days. Around $495.

  • Gatto Nero

I’m wondering (genuinely, now) why there’s such bootie hate elsewhere on these boards but love for this particular look. Could someone enlighten me?
Does it have to do with tights/socks versus none? Jeans versus dress? What?
    Thanking you in advance.

  • maggiemaybe

I love everything about that outfit. You can tell she likes how she looks too…
