Drew Barrymore in Giulietta at the Hollywood Stands Up to Cancer Event

Posted on January 30, 2014

She’s stumbled a couple of times, but she’s really settled into her preg style nicely.

Drew Barrymore attends Hollywood Stands Up To Cancer Event in Culver City, California in a Giulietta shift dress paired with a Kara Ross clutch and J. Crew shoes.

Giulietta Dots-Florettes-Print Shift Dress

This is cute. It’s a very simple, mature version of Drew’s natural style. Personally, we would have done a pop of color (red or blue) in the shoe and picked a black clutch. You couldn’t do the pop-of-color thing with both accessories, because it would’ve looked too Crayola. Putting the color at the bottom of the look draws the eye up and down, making it look proportionate. With the bright yellow clutch in her hand, the eye doesn’t know where to go. It’s a little distracting.

But it is kind of refreshing to see a slightly lower heel on the RC. These are still pretty high in the real world (especially the real PREGNANT world), but for a red carpet event, this is demure.

Cute. I really like that dress.

  • M. H. Leader

What I like best about this look is that she looks very HAPPY with herself, her looks, and her life. That alone is enough to make her beautiful. Well done, Drew!

  • @Biting Panda

Yay! She’s radiant. I am happy.

  • I love her. She looks fabulous and healthy and preggers.

  • Anna

Congratulations, Drew! You win for being most appropriately dressed for this event!

This looks really cute on her.

  • Kent Roby

Seeing how cute and relaxed Drew and some of the others were at this event just makes Heidi look that much more ridiculous with all her exposure.

  • bitchybitchybitchy

    Lovely-well done,Ms. Barrymore!

  • gayle

This is super cute and I would like to own it.

  • Glam Dixie

This looks like a dress that is functional in the real world, which I like and she looks great as well.

    • mlle

Between the print of dress and the earrings, it reminds me of some of my mother’s things from the 80s.

      • Glam Dixie

Well shit. ‘my mother’s things from the 80’s’. Now I feel old. I hate when that happens. 😉

        • mlle

          With age comes wisdom!

  • bellafigura1

Adorable! Two inches shorter! Hipper shoes!

    • halleygee

Agree, I know she’s preggers and all, but it’s a weird length.

  • Jessica Freeman

I would have loved to see her in kitten heels or flats.

  • elemspbee

Pretty. She looks terrific. Wish they eyes were more defined. So glad to see her in this.

  • FrigidDiva

This is a more bare-faced look that actually works. The rest of her face is really played down, but she has a nice pop of color on the lips. It’s nice to see someone that isn’t doing a clean face AND a nude lip.

  • fursa_saida

    Love the lip color.

  • Veronica Mers

Adorable. Wish I’d had that dress when I was pregnant.

    • Glam Dixie

I had a shirt that was similar but instead of dots with flowers mine was dots with teddy bears. Hind sight people, it is not always kind.

      • formerlyAnon

I am NOT confessing. Oh no, I am NOT. In my defense it was 1990/91 and a lot of my pregnancy wardrobe was borrowed.

        • Glam Dixie

Haha, mine was 90 and then 92 but I actually bought mine so there’s really no excuse.

    • Yes, this. I would have loved this dress when I was pregnant. My personal worst maternity-wear misstep was a bright turquoise dress (a hand-me-down from another lady who was done being pregnant). I wore it just once, and someone did me the favor of telling me I looked like an Easter egg (well, I was very pregnant at the time).

  • Diego!

    Cute and she looks gorgeous!

  • Karen Belgrad

I love it, but now have an overwhelming urge to go dig my old Lite Brite out of the attic…

  • ashtangajunkie

She looks lovely. Love the lip colour with the otherwise low-key makeup.

    • I know… I want that lipstick.

      • Lanus

YES. My first thought at the thumbnail was to covet the lippy.

  • tallgirl1204

In my part of the country, we would call this print an “eye-dazzler.” It keeps the eye moving and distracts the viewer from her shape– her pregnancy is neither highlighted nor hidden. The print illusion allows the eye to rest on Ms. Barrymore’s lovely face.

  • Imasewsure

Great dress. Cute (but shoes in a color would have been great)

  • formerlyAnon

I like her. I think she looks real-person pregnant, not fab celebrity pregnant, and for that she looks great.

But not thrilled with the dress. It looks like such ordinary, “I work in the office up front” pregnancy wear. I’d have liked a collar or a hair ornament or something to draw more attention to her head. (Not that that would have changed the overall feel of the ensemble. Just I felt it’s lacking a bit.)

  • marlie

I love this for her. The dress is adorable and sophisticated at the same time. I don’t mind the black shoe – I don’t know if I’d want the eye drawn to the feet, anyway. Makeup and hair are simple but pretty, which is totally her style.

    • filmcricket

Yes, her feet look pretty great, but they probably feel like balloons to her. I’m sure she’d rather we didn’t look at them.

    • kimmeister

I’m with you on the shoe – she doesn’t seem to be suffering from it, but a lot of pregnant women have swollen ankles that they would not like to highlight. I like the pop of color in the clutch because of the color contrast in direct juxtaposition with the dark dress.

  • Carla_Charlton

And THIS is how you do fresh-faced.

  • ScarlettHarlot

This is great! It’s so cute, colorful, and happy. She also looks relaxed & comfortable.

    • Eric Stott

She looks, in the best possible way, like a real woman – and that is refreshing on the red carpet.

  • decormaven

Great job by MUA. Her skin looks great! The dress is cute and venue-appropriate.

  • pookiesmom

I LOVE this dress. I want it on my body immediately. Minus the baby bump. She looks fantastic.

  • Scimommy

Whoa, SCIENCE! I am feeling a little more educated now than I was two minutes ago.

  • teensmom99

I’ve been a critic of her pregnancy style so I’ve got to give a thumbs up for this step in the right direction. On the other hand, it looks a lot like what I wore when I was pregnant 15 years ago (but I wore lower heels).

  • Paula Pertile

She’s adorable. Wrong shoes and all.

  • acevedob

    No. Just no.

  • Kerry McCombs

She’s so gorgeous. I always have and always will love her.

  • lunchcoma

I would wear that dress. The non-maternity version. With a belt.

I don’t mean that in an, “Meh, I have that in my closet. She could do a little better,” way, either. This is the good kind of accessible, where I wish that was in my closet so I could wear it all the time.

  • Lilyana_F

Cute, I agree with everything, guys. And can I just say – the shoes on the model are hurting my feelings…

    • lifeisastory

      Ditto what you said.

  • Jacob Bowen

It is CRAZY how slimming this pattern is because the baby bump seems camouflaged. This is the Drew Barrymore I ALWAYS love!

  • LaSylphide

Is she STILL pregnant? Anyway, pretty look all around.

  • Sabin

I kind of don’t like the length – it hits her in just the right place to stumpify her legs, in a way her legs aren’t. But she looks beautiful. This is the first time she’s looked like herself in ages. Something about her face. Love.

  • demidaemon

Love the silhouette. Am a bit iffy on the pattern. I do prefer it in stills, to seeing it moving, though.

  • quiltrx

    Cute dress, cute lady.

  • Snailstsichr

She looks lovely and I just love her lipstick!

  • Jackie4g

I don’t agree about the brightly colored shoes, as I think it would have drawn the eye down and made her body shape look even more ungainly. I like the pop of color in the clutch because it would be in motion most of the time and distract the eye. Thus, the focus on the belly would be less. You are brilliant fellows, but your experience with pregnancy is limited.

    Her skin looks gorgeous!

  • maggiemaybe

She looks perfect… and i might need that lipstick.
