Drew Barrymore in Chanel at her photo book party

Posted on January 16, 2014

Now that is one hell of a bounce back.

Drew Barrymore attends the Chanel Celebration of the release of her photo book “Find It In Everything” in Beverly Hills, California in a Chanel dress paired with a Chanel bag and jewelry and an Isabel Marant jacket.

BAM. Outta the way, bitches. Hot mama coming through.

First she did this, and we tried to be polite. Then she did this and mostly kept our mouths shut, although it’s pretty, in a flakey Drew Barrymore kind of way. But this is the more chic, less flakey version of Drew and it’s probably not a surprise that we like this version most of all. At least for now. We’d never want her to stop being a little flakey in her style, but this kind of look is her very best friend while she’s in a family way.

Besides, that cuff is pretty damn flakey. And we’re not in love with the shape of the jacket. And her eye shadow’s weird. It’s not that we’d give this a WERQ shoutout for being perfect, but it suits her so well right now.

I’m actually kinda blown away by how much better her hair and makeup look here compared to the Globes. And Navy is very much a good color on her.

    • Imasewsure

Agree! I’d forgotten how good she can look… I mean she looked really happy in the last few posts… and comfortable.. but…..
      More of this please!!

  • Bridget212323

Isn’t her husband’s father the former chairman of Chanel? Why isn’t she wearing Chanel at every awards show? Because the Monique Lhuillier made her look like a big bag of candy hearts. And not in a good way 😉

    • Imasewsure

I hated that dress! Candy hearts for sure…

  • @Biting Panda

    Mmmm, gorgeous, pregnancy hair!!
She’s lovely. Even if look is funeral ready.

  • hughman

I wonder who made the purse.

    • Kent Roby

Damn you, I had to struggle to swallow my Stevia-laden iced tea before I spewed it all over my keyboard whilst reading your comment!

      • Rand Ortega

Here’s I trick I learned the hard way: When you see hughman’s avatar, immediately put your hand over your mouth, then read the post.

        • Kent Roby

Thanks for the tip (one that I should’ve learned by now!).

          • Wendi126

When I have no time, I often just scan for our beloved Hughman, laugh and leave

          • Kent Roby

Not everyone is in Hughman’s league (cue their music!)

          • formerlyAnon

I am ashamed of how long it took me to grasp that.

          • Theresa Patterson

I do the very same. Hughman is by far, my favorite witter amongst the bitter kittens! Many of my days have begun just fine, then come the Hughman and everything is glorious for the rest of the day! Albeit my screen has need a cleaning numerous times!!

I was gonna be a BK in full sense of the word(s) and comment on how much I hate the gigantic brand (and they probably did it ’cause it’s a pretty generic clutch), and then I saw your comment. Yours is the right way.

    • NYCGlamourpuss

      I can’t tell…

    • decormaven

When it’s that blatant, I have a burning desire to take a Sharpie to the logo.

    • Shawn EH

Well, it’s so plain, would one know otherwise?

  • Sarah

I dig the cuff. It’s what keeps that outfit from being too severe, I think. She looks good but I’m not loving the green eye shadow.

    • I love the cuff – it’s the earrings I’d jettison. She doesn’t need all three pieces!

      • Sarah

Agreed. I didn’t notice them since they’re in only one pic, but they just make her necklace look like it’s hooked over her ears. Which is trend that has to happen, now that I think on it – the hilarity would be delicious.

      • Wendi126

Two of the three but not all three. Personally I would lose the earrings, or lose the necklace and put up her hair. Lose the eye makeup, and she looks great. Her greatest beauty is she seems so happy.

        • 3boysful

You got it–the long necklace and big earrings combined with the big dress are giving off a Maude-ish vibe. If the hair were up and necklace gone, this would be much better.

      • ThesisMonkey

Didn’t see the earrings until you pointed them out. Totally agree.

    • formerlyAnon

I wouldn’t mind the eyeshadow if it’d been applied so it was equally visible or invisible on both eyes.

      • Sarah

I have a lazy eyelid, too, (loose muscle there) which shows more when I’m tired or intoxicated, or have been crying. I just keep to the same color on my whole lid, and only do the outer corners with a darker shade or put highlighter under my brow. That way, if I’m droopy, it doesn’t show so much. I wonder if she’s not accustomed to compensating for it as much – I never noticed she had it until she was pregnant.

    • filmcricket

I covet that cuff. I’d wear it every day, even with things that didn’t go with it.

    • SugarSnap108

I’m a sucker for a long necklace and a cuff — and I really like this cuff.

  • marlie

Cute! I don’t love her eye makeup (it looks lopsided), but that cuff is great.

    • mellorcr

I think it’s her eyes that are lopsided, not the eyeshadow. One eye is open much wider than the other. Tragic botox accident?

  • Introspective

really chic. really polished. so wish she had done this at the globes.

(although im questioning the extra aqua eye shadow over only her left eye. cause its making things look a little wonky?)

    still atta girl drew. snaps.

    • Tatiana Luján

it’s not so much that she put extra eye shadow on her left eye, but that her left eyelid is bigger than the right one (or the right one is swollen) and the eyeshadow highlights that.

    • demidaemon

You know what else I love about this? It is perfectly on point for the occasion, which is her sort of “coming out” party as a semi-professional photographer. This look just says, “I am a serious, yet still totally cool, professional artist.”

  • Paint splatter cuffs – for the girls who still miss their paint splatter pants (…like me who had a matching cap and earrings…)

  • MilaXX

Wonkey eyes & I hate the bag, but otherwise a cute preggo look.

  • Imasewsure

Thank Gawd… now I remember what she looks like when she’s not decked out in hippy-frippery!! Too dark maybe but she looks fantastic! Keep THIS up please Mama Drew!!

  • Anna

I know it isn’t but that clutch looks like a knockoff that you get in one of those kiosks at the mall. Earrings are pushing it to overkill but otherwise: ATTAGIRL, I knew you could do it.

  • Glam Dixie

If this silly book sells….I’m gonna make one next, possibly of the many ways and shapes I can find cow shit.

    • ailujailuj

      omg you made me piddle

      • Glam Dixie

        haha, er, you’re welcome!

  • alyce1213

Sexy, modest, pregnant, gorgeous, and accessible all at the same time.

  • Tatiana Luján

The blue-green eye shadow is highlighting the asymmetry between her eyes.
    I really like the cuff.

  • Kent Roby

This points out how careful one must be in eye shadow application when one’s eyes open to varying degrees. I’m glad to see Drew looking so lovely and easy/breezy here.

  • Danielle

The book cracks me up. Anyone with an Instagram account can be an author, it seems.

  • Garcia Loca

Still dowdy, guys. Even for a third-trimester lady.

    • Viviennne

  • PlethoraofBooks

Did anyone see the pictures of her at her book signing? It was pretty damn flawless. Also – lose the earrings of the cuff – and this would be perfect.

  • stubbornthoughts

Loving that Chanel on her! The necklace makes it all happen.

  • Monabel

How can you tell she’s wearing a jacket?

    • Trent

…Right? I thought it was just my monitor. I just see a large black muu muu.

But still worlds better than the Globes outfit.

  • NYCGlamourpuss

Much much better than her last two outings!

  • formerlyAnon

Her head looks fairly good and reasonably “dressed up” and she’s reached the stage of pregnancy where most of us just glaze over rather than examine too closely what we look like between shoulders and swollen ankles before going out in public. It’s too dispiriting. (I know she has, or should have, “people.” But still.) She did great, within Drew Barrymore parameters.

  • Charls LeBlanc

Are there supposed to be links where you say “Here and here”?

    • Jackie4g

Yes, those are links. But Disqus and your computer may be at odds. Been known to happen to may of us.

  • Sam Smith

Hate the eye makeup, it really makes her eyes look wonky and she already has slightly wonky face (in an adorable and pretty way).

  • amf0001

I love her but don’t love this look – every fat woman in the world, myself included, is always encouraged into this look and I love her bright happy clothes much more. I hate slimming black and navy. The only thing I like in this look is her cuff. The hair is perfect! (all those pregnancy hormones making everything shiny)

  • nannypoo

Fabulous. I’d be happy to look like this and I’m not even pregnant.

  • I’d almost knock a pregnant lady down for that clutch, so I’ll call this a success. 😉

  • Kent Roby

Silly me; last time I wore a metal cuff to a game of paintball I threw it away afterwards.

  • Trickytrisha

Whew, her face actually looks like her again. Last few pics I thought she might have been replaced with a poorly done

  • patticake1601

This is so boring and bland. I love how Drew dresses all girly. Why does everyone have to be “perfect” in designer duds and perfectly coiffed. She is unique and should stay unique, quirks & all.

  • I really do not like that bag. The Chanel advertisement is uncouth, and the leather is reading “cheap” in the flash of the cameras. But I adore Drew. Clothes are a little drab, but looks demure and comfy.

  • Call me Bee

Her hair and makeup are really, really pretty here, and I love her accessories a lot. Go, mama!

  • Viviennne

Yes, totally dislike the Chanel name on the bag….. wow …..personal pet peeve….and more bad taste…… blue eye shadow – really – ugh ??!! Again, I feel so sad that these women with amazing fashion budgets are so boring and so un chic ~

  • bitchybitchybitchy

Aside from the Chanel name on the bag, this is sucha a great, polished look for Drew-from head to toe-great to see!

    • Shawn EH

I sorta love it — in the “is it still tacky if it cost $500?” school, I think Chanel products can get away with that.

  • quiltrx

Kinda cute outfit, and her hair looks great. Did she forget the blue shadow on her right lid?

  • amaranth16

    Nice GOING!

  • mom2ajs5

    Love the cuff!!

    • Shawn EH

It’s just what all the black fabric needed, a spot of color and bling!

  • Suse

Her face looks looks more like her real self here that at the GGAs. I wish this wasn’t black, but a nice dark jewel tone. That eyeshadow color was the first one I ever bought in 6th grade waaay back in time.

  • Reality TV Casting

do we think its just a weird coincidence that her eye make up is so lopsided?

  • allcapsERINN

    Gorgeous!! I LOVE THAT CUFF!

I have the same problem with my right eye. It makes me miserable and self-conscious. If I could afford it, I’d get it fixed, although with my luck I’d probably end up looking overly surprised.

  • sunnycalif

Horrible background–who thinks this stuff up?
