Claire Danes in Christian Dior at the 2014 Producers Guild Awards

Posted on January 21, 2014

Good lord, this gal is crazy inconsistent lately. From the highest highs at the SAG awards, where she showed up looking all smokey-sexy, to … well, to this:

“Homeland” star Claire Danes attends the 2014 Producers Guild Awards in Beverly Hills, California in a Christian Dior dress paired with Christian Louboutin pumps and Irene Neuwirth jewelry.

Christian Dior Spring 2014 Collection

She looks like a middle aged society matron at a luncheon. That makeup job is horrible. Maybe it’s to distract from the fact that her chest is apparently collapsing into a black hole and that her skirt looks like a girdle.

Kudos for the interesting jewelry, although we’re not sure whether the pieces really go together.

  • Diego!

Is she in the line for a casting in the Mad Men rip off? WTF is that make up? Let’s not even mention that ugly dress! Honey, no. NO!

  • Sara

I don’t know, I don’t think is too bad. I like the skirt, but I wish the top was… different. I’m still in love with her hair.

  • @Biting Panda

She is either doing her own makeup, letting a four year old do her makeup, or has been bewitched and/or blackmailed by a vicious make up professional.

    • demidaemon

The sad thing is that all of these options are equally possible.

  • Ginger

Good lord that is a fugly outfit. BURN IT! BURN IT NOW!!!

    • @Biting Panda

Scroll up and hide her head. The outfit is far from spectacular, but it is not tragic. The top half needs more breast to fill it out.

      • Ginger

Nope…I tried it and I still detest it. The skirt isn’t completely bad (I actually really do like the top part of it), but I REALLY dislike that length and there’s just no helping that overwrought mess of a top. I’m rather opinionated today. I must’ve had my BK Wheaties. I will agree, though, that she needs to wipe everything off of her face, wash her hair and start over. She’s a beautiful woman!

        • newleaf1

Will you share your BK wheaties?

          • Ginger

            You betcha.

  • SewingSiren

I don’t hate the dress, but it’s not right for her. Love those opals though. LOVE them.

  • marlie

It’s a little safe, but I like the dress, though it needs to be a little shorter on her. Her jewelry and hair are pretty, but her lipstick is a terrible color for her. And someone forgot to blend the blush on her cheeks.

  • Glam Dixie

I find I like that skirt, the rest is heinous.

  • BayTampaBay

    I like the skirt.

  • Sarah

I think the skirt’s too long, but I like the opal jewels. What I cannot abide by is the obscene toe cleavage. So MUCH toe cleavage. Yick.

    • mjude

way to much toe cleavage. tell me what the hell is the point?

      • Sarah

It’s like how are those shoes even ON I’m wondering? So weird.

  • hughman

“Samantha, you have to get that blouse untwisted before Darrin brings home Larry Tate for dinner! Call Uncle Arthur!”

  • http://tvblogster.blogspot.com Boop

I love this look on the model, but yes, I agree…this is not her dress.

    • SewingSiren

The dress , she should pack up and send to Nicole Kidman. The earrings should be sent immediately to me, I’ll even pay the postage.

  • Lilah

She is a beautiful woman. but that is clown makeup.

  • TigerLaverada

I like the earrings a lot. The rest is pretty awful. That satin mess up top is just bizarre, and would look like shit on anybody. Bad design IMO.

    • @Biting Panda

(completely off any kind of topic.) @TigerLaverada:disqus, being that I am an Amanda Panda IRL, I’ve love pics of pandas, I have tons and I use various favorites for avatars and profile pics. The pic that you use, is one of my all time favorites. It’s the only screen lock photo I’ve ever left for any length of time on my phone.

      • TigerLaverada

I love that panda pic, too. It pretty much sums up a whole lot of how I try to live my life. :)

        • @Biting Panda

I noticed that you, me and another panda loving BK all were using similar pics, I thought I’d use another of my all time favs instead. You add a cat to a panda and my heart can’t take the cute. I’m so lame, I’ll sometimes google images search for ‘PandaCat’ just to see what’s out there.

          • Carrps

I didn’t read your reply before googling for that pic. Found it in another lady’s pinterest. Very nice shot.

          • @Biting Panda

Isn’t it adorable??? I have so many pandacat pics. but this has to be the best one.

  • jen_vasm

I would’ve triple dog dared her to wear that Dr. Suess necklace the model is sporting.
Seriously, that scary makeup/hairdo combination is really messing with my head.

    • TeacherH

I was initially convinced the model’s necklace was made of AstroTurf. Now I think it is a segment of one of those cheap “Hawaiian” leis. Either way… Why?

    • decormaven

I think that necklace is made of Easter basket artificial grass. A great counterpoint to that pastel blue blouse. But NONE of this is working for her, and that goes double for the hair and makeup. I’m going to pretend I didn’t see this.

  • Anna

Supernova dress, makeup by Homer Simpson.

    • ashtangajunkie

      Paint gun set to ‘clown.’

  • princessricky

is christian dior the new stella mccartney?

    • boweryboy

      Yes.

    • Aurumgirl

I might be inclined to think so if Stella McCartney would go away. But nope, she’s still plugging along. Did you see what she did to poor Meryl Streep at the SAG awards?

Maybe she’s pushing out collections for both labels now.

  • thesevenendless

I know I lot of people don’t like her new hair color, but I like that she’s gone a touch darker – the blonde was starting to make her look harsh.

    • MilaXX

I love the new hair color The darker hue looks better on her than the blonde ever did.

      • Carrps

I always liked her better with darker hair (i.e. non-blonde). It’s so hard to go blonde when you’re very fair. Ask me!

    • Imasewsure

It was beautiful yesterday… this version is a no go but it’s probably the awful makeup and outfit not the hair… I always applaud the opposite of blond in Hollywood!!

    • Meg0GayGuys6

And here I am, scrolling and scrolling waiting to agree with someone who doesn’t like her hair. Guess I’ll keep scrolling… :)

  • Tatiana Luján

She plastered her face with concealer.

    • bitchybitchybitchy

I think one cosmetic line uses the word “spackle” for their primer, but this is not the way to go.

  • d4divine

The skirt is too long…the top looks like a scrunchy…the makeup is a cakeup

    • Dagney

Cakeup? Jesus I just laughed out loud.

  • brown-eyed girl

    Barbie!

  • Jecca2244

i thought this was Betty Draper gone brunette

  • http://www.snoskred.org/ Snoskred

This is really, terribly, horribly bad makeup. It almost looks like she has blue eyeshadow on her temples.

This is not your face, Claire. This is your face in about 30 years time. Please do not let this make up person near you ever again, for the sanity of us all. :)

  • Dagney

Do stylists completely ignore hemlines? I have muscular calves so I probably obsess over this more than the average bear, but come ON with that hemline!

    • demidaemon

I think it partially depends on the designer loaning out the outfits and whether they are willing to alter them. From what we’ve seen of the current Dior, they like their outfits to go out unaltered. It’s not the best choice.

  • MilaXX

So very wrong. Awful makeup. The foundation is too heavy and the orange lip clashes. The outfit somehow looks matronly on her. The ring foes with nothing and neither do the earrings. Even the hair which looked sexy a few days ago looks mumsy.

    • bitchybitchybitchy

Since when does a “bold” lip translate to Bozo orange painted on the mouth?

    • manina

The ring is another type of opal, which I think is called something like fire opal, kind of tacky colors, popular with gold nugget settings.

      • MilaXX

I know what it is. Opal is my birthstone. It still doesn’t go with the outfit.

        • manina

Yeah, one of them, the light colored one, kind of goes but the fire one doesn’t go at all

  • jjtxgrrl

Love her. But this makeup is so unfortunate.

  • Sue_Asponte

At least she didn’t wear the green plastic lei.

  • Imasewsure

Way to make me instantly regret the praise I lavished on her yesterday… thanks Claire… you made me look bad!!

  • http://www.ellenciompi.com/ NurseEllen

Those opals are to die for, just beautiful. I actually don’t mind how she looks in the dress, but that makeup is cray (both as in slang for “crazy” and in abbreviation for “Crayola”). Her fashion inconsistencies are inexplicable.

    • Monabel

      the opals…

  • sagecreek

Good God, what has happened to Dior?

  • ashtangajunkie

If you doing your job results in Claire Danes’ face looking like this, you’re in the wrong line of work.

  • Kent Roby

That dress may have a Dior label and cost more than my car, but it looks like a one-hour last-chance PR challenge that would result in an Auf.

  • bitchybitchybitchy

I like the skirt, actually, but the top is distracting-is that satin with sad origami folds? No, just no. Dior gives me yet another attack of the fashion sads.

  • tallgirl1204

At least she lost the plastic lei the model is wearing…

  • crash1212

Poor Claire. She’s been Dior-ed. Love the hair and jewelry.

  • Danielle

    THE HEMLINE ASDFGHJKL

  • KinoEye

No, honey. No. Go back to your makeup from the other night, please. The clown lips and blush is just awful.

  • redhead with tattoos

I think this dress could work with a good makeup job. She should fire whoever did her face here.

  • j regan p

Skirts too long, lipstick is too orange and toe cleavage makes it look like she has bunions. Otherwise, she’s really pretty!

  • KT

GUH. This is terrible!! Stepford wife on valium who wandered into a metaphysical bookstore and, high out of her mind, bought some jewelry that she thought was funky.

Also, if you google “harsh makeup,” Claire Danes is one of the first images that pops up. Just sayin.

Also, if you don’t have to wear the latest Dior has to offer, then why would you?

  • Kimberly Wilcox

I don’t think a paper bag could save that outfit….makeup is bad, for sure…but the outfit began it and it was tragic from the get go.

  • Janet B

    The blue is pretty

  • Gatto Nero

What is up with Dior lately?!

  • elemspbee

From the neck up is just offensive.

  • DesertDweller79

Dior is just making me so sad lately. It is like we are witnessing its last days. I almost want to cry.

I have no possible explanation for the makeup.

  • Monabel

The dress was chosen to support those fabulous opal earrings.

  • acevedob

I had to Google her age. 34?! Girl, you look nearly 50. Ditch the look.

  • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

what is with all the huge orange lips lurking about hollywood these days? scary!

  • AmeliaEve

Pssst! Honey, I hate to be the one to tell you, but there is a hole in the front of your dress. Have you got a cardi or something?

  • schadenfreudelicious

and i thought the last face of makeup on Claire was garish and harsh!..I stand corrected!

  • Laura

Stepford wife and proud of it, I guess.

  • PeaceBang

I like the picture where her head is tilted because to me it looks like her very heavy orange lips weighted her head that way.

  • rhymeswithorange

Whoever did her hair and makeup should be BANISHED TO SIBERIA

    • schadenfreudelicious

      A gulag in Siberia!

  • Jen

She looks like Joyce from Edward Scissorhands.

  • livesarah

I feel like the fact it’s a Dior explains everything. Makeup terrible, but good choice of jewellery!

  • E. D.

If the skirt was a better length, it would be a huge improvement. Still really like the hair color.

  • Fred Vaughn

This look ages the fuck out of her.

  • GillianHolroyd

I like the dress *shrug* but the makeup is scary-bad.

  • http://gabyrippling.tumblr.com/ Gaby

They made her look like Joan Holloway’s mom.

  • Granny panties

This is not as ugly as some of Jennifer Lawrence’s dior looks. I think that skirt would highlight her lovely waist hip ratio. Would hem at knee though.
It looks ok on Claire, but she can do way better than ok. Earrings are great though.

  • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

Everything from the waist down is fine, I have no idea what happened elsewhere.

  • Qitkat

Initially from the thumbnail, I thought this was a print top, which looked good. Now that I see what it really is, I still think if this were a lovely blue print, not in shiny satin, this outfit would become a real winner. She looks lovely in that shade.

  • MannahattaMamma

STOP TILTING YOUR HEAD! Oh so kittenish, are we? feh.

  • LaSylphide

It seems to me that the current Dior designer(s) has, with a few exceptions, no appreciation of the female body. Look at the collection: anything that makes women look that unattractive just doesn’t get it. This one isn’t awful, but it could be so much better.

  • sharonimus

Srsly. The makeup. AWFUL. She looks AGED LIKE WHOA. Not cool.

  • rh33

    Just Say No to Dior!

  • gefeylich

Ugly on the runway, super-ugly on Danes. Does she even have a stylist, or a full-length mirror?

  • girlsaturday

The jewelry can’t possibly go together, because this entire look clashes on a molecular level.
