Christina Aguilera in Theory at the Hollywood Stands Up to Cancer Event

Posted on January 29, 2014

Aside from the fact that her feet and hands (and only her feet and hands) are the color of a roasted chicken, we really like this look for Miss Christina.

Christina Aguilera attends Hollywood Stands Up To Cancer Event in Culver City, California in a Theory striped silk top paired with Frame Denim pants and accessorized with Christian Louboutin pumps and Loree Rodkin earrings.

Theory ‘Aquilina’ Blouse

No, we can’t really get behind the hat (but are we wrong in thinking there’s more and more of a Michael Jackson style influence going in the music world at the mo?), but we love everything else on her because she looks good, but more importantly, she looks relaxed. All those various skin-tight dresses over the years only made her look like she couldn’t breathe and wanted to go home. She looks ready to hang here. And she pretty much looks her age, instead of decades older than it. More of this please, girl.

Oh, she looks so much better than she has in a long time. Huzzah!

  • Mazenderan

I agree that she looks so much better out of the skin-tight dresses – the shirt looks clean and relaxed.

I’d love to see her with less make-up, and un-tortured hair.

    • Sarah

I think she’d have to raze the hair and grow anew. It’s too far gone to bleachville for rehab.

      • Do we think that hair actually grew out of her head? Or anyone’s head?

        • Sarah

Well, I thought it was hers, but now you’ve made me wonder…

        • homofascist

Oh my lord, that “hair” is pure polyester fantasy…

    • DebbieLovesShoes

Very true. I’ve seen her with less makeup and was surprised at how very pretty she actually is, under all that. That makeup and hair always look a little “tries too hard” for me.

  • hughman

    Gurl is PAINTED. Damn.

    • kmk05

Both her face and her body. Is that tan splotchy on her chest? GAH. I thought her stylist has gotten out of Orange Land, but it seems it may have just been a lapse in bad taste.

    • lunchcoma

Agreed. Love the clothes, but I’d like to see her with slightly more natural (which by everyone else’s standards would still be pretty done up) makeup and hair, just to see what she’d look like.

    • Ginger

I don’t get it. She’s such a beautiful woman…especially when she’s not wearing what, for me, would be a few years’ worth of makeup. Is she insecure without her makeup?

      • RL McGruder

I always thought that she got REALLY comfortable with what passes for normal on stage (and in Vegas). She is constantly playing to the cheap seats. But, you’re right, she could be insecure about her skin – makeup gun set on spackle!

      • DebbieLovesShoes

See my comment to Mazenderan. I agree with you.

  • TrixieConQueso

PYT! And as a makeup artist – I say – yeah it’s a lot – but well done.

    • TrixieConQueso

Just to clarify – was only talking about her face. Then I saw the feet. OH MY.

  • charlotte

Girl, that is not your skin tone.

    • MilaXX

Which one? She’s wearing 3 different shades.

      • charlotte

        All of them.

    • carnush

      “Roasted Chicken”! haha

  • demidaemon

She looks great. But those hands and feet are scary weird.

When I think of the height of Michael Jackson style, I think of the animated version of Tokyo Babylon’s main character Subaru, who looks like a white Michael Jackson transplanted into animation.

I know that part of that sentence is a little bit redundant.

  • Sarah

She looks like a combo of MJ and Toddlers and Tiaras. And somehow that IS better than usual. Weird.

  • cocohall

Lindsey, Amanda, Ke$sha, get out your notebooks. Miss Christina has done the heavy lifting in terms of getting herself healthy and it CAN be done. There is hope for all of you. Well done, Miss Thing. You look great!

    • Evan

Yeah, but as far as we know, Christina doesn’t have any mental health issues. Ke$ha supposedly has an eating disorder, so trying to do what Christina did would probably not be good for her, Amanda is supposedly schizophrenic and Lindsay is, well, Lindsay. She has had drug problems and terrible, abusive parents.

      • cocohall

Christina went through her own rough patch awhile back (arrested for public drunkenness) after her divorce, and I was just suggesting that the other ladies should be inspired by her obvious return to form. She is also a “survivor,” if you will, of being a child star. Which is a huge achievement and could be inspirational to Amanda and Lindsey who also became famous quite young. I’m not trying to minimize these young women’s issues at all. I’m really rooting for all of them. And for that matter, Mr. Bieber. I have teenagers and life is hard enough at this age without the whole world watching your every move and misstep.

        • Evan

I’m rooting for all of them except for Mr. Bieber. I don’t wish anything bad on him, but I just hope he disappears. If his personality changes and he becomes more humble, then I might root for him. I’m afraid it’s too late for that though, but you never know.

          • cocohall

Disappearing for awhile would probably be in his best interest. Watching his surrender to police in Canada today on CNN was horrifying – it was a literal mob scene. To be the center of that at 19 must be bewildering, to say the least. I’m sure his mother loves him very much, but she was quite young when she had him and has talked openly about her struggles with depression. And if I’m not mistaken, made a pro-life film about her decision not to abort him. Which, regardless of your position on the issue, cannot be an easy thing to have your mother taking so very public. He very much needs to grow up and getting out of the spotlight would be an excellent first step.

        • ana170

Most former child stars who run into problems do so because for reasons other than being a child star. For example, Amanda was considered a “success” until a couple of years ago when her mental health issues became apparent. I don’t think child stardom had a thing to do with her problems.

  • MilaXX

I really wish she would stop with the yellow weaves, and yet this is almost a persona; best for her.

    • ankali

It is a personal best as far as I can tell. That’s not to say that hair and makeup aren’t still problematic, but I can’t think of a single time she’s looked better than she does now.

  • @Biting Panda

I need her to break up with her spray tan man.

  • lexilexi

She has lost a lot of weight, and what a way to show it off! Aside from skin tone and hair tone, she looks amazing!

  • In_Stitches

There’s a chicness to this that she has never before displayed. Loving it. Wish there was about an 1/8th the make-up on her, but we can’t have everything, now can we?

  • GeoDiva

    The spray tan is hilarious!

  • VioletFem

She looks good here. Minus the hat, it’s a chic outfit. She would look a lot better if she laid off the spray tan and over bleaching her hair.

    • @Biting Panda

      Lady loves her hats though.

  • Glam Dixie

Drag Queen makeup with this one. Always.

    • Jacob Bowen

And she doesn’t do good Drag Queen makeup…she does Drag Queen makeup as seen up close.

  • kimmeister

I like the hat! But then again, I am sporting a hat today myself. I like to think it summoned the much-needed dusting of rain we’ve been needing.

  • smayer

    Ombre tans are a NO.

  • Eric Stott

Very artificial – but it works.

  • quiltrx

It’s like all her different visible parts are different ethnicities. 🙁
It’s a cute enough outfit, but oy, that hair.

  • @Biting Panda

Ahahahaa…The Lonely Downvoter has returned. Welcome back, Stan. We’ve missed you so. Thanks for coming back and wordlessly pouting your way through the comments. We’re all mortally wounded, I assure you. Keep up the good fight.

    • Sarah

So, neutral observations, criticism, and pleasantries about Ms. Aguilera are ALL equally worthy of a downvote? Oh, c’mon.

      • Evan

I feel like they’re just trolling us because you’re right, even positive comments have been down voted lol

        • Sarah

I knows it. Twas my poor attempt at highlighting the ludicrous nature of both the passivity and the across-the-board nature of the trollery. As in, what’s yer point, yo?

          • Evan

Would it be inappropriate if I said that they must not have a life? lol

          • Sarah

            That’s mean. I’ma downvote you 😉

      • marlie

What @kimmeister:disqus said about wearing a hat. SO. OFFENSIVE. #sarcasm

        • kimmeister

It must have been offensively ugly. *Shrugs*

  • VioletFem

Curious to know who is down voting nearly all of the comments on this page? (as of 30 minutes ago)

    • @Biting Panda

Why, the righteously offended, of course.

  • Evan

Somebody is going crazy with the down votes again. Obviously they didn’t read what T&LO had to say the last time this happened.

    • VioletFem

Yeah, I noticed that too. What did TLo say the last time this happened?

      • Evan

It happened on the Alexander McQueen men’s fall 2014 runway post. To paraphrase them, they said that it’s weak, childish and adds nothing to the conversation. If you disagree with someone, have the balls to say something.

  • hughman

    • Evan

      YES to this comment!

    • nannypoo

I don’t know what this comment means exactly, but I agree with the idea of not downvoting so I think I’ll upvote it.

      • Evan

He’s saying that Cher is the down voter lol

        • hughman

    • Well, aren’t you a lying liar who lies? Not even Cher could get me through the door for that movie.

  • Points for dressing her age and size! I wonder if we’ll ever convince her to change her hair?

  • nannypoo

She’s a pretty woman and she looks cute here but I hate the hat.

  • Diego!

    She looks great!

  • SugarSnap108

I’m just here to see if I can get a down-vote.

    • Glam Dixie

That made me laugh, like hanging with the cool kids.

    • Jackie4g

You have to offend somebody. Or maybe I’ve got that wrong and you don’t have to do anything? I like Christina’s outfit, and her hair looks like her hair always looks.

      • SugarSnap108

Apparently you just have to type words in close proximity to a photo of Christina Aguilera. I like her outfit, too.

  • Jecca2244

waitttt, when did she lose all the weight?!

  • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

Miss Tina can rock Boho-chic! Me likey…she hasn’t looked this comfortable and pretty in years.

  • marlie

Christina looks great! She looks 10 years younger, and happier than she has in a long time.

  • Funkykatt

Nice so many celebs are standing up to cancer since plenty of them smoke.

    • GreenTurtle

It’s so brave of them, right?

  • ankali

Personal fucking best, even with all the slap. And I like the hat for her.

  • bertkeeter

Agree…hat is trite and over done…saw about ten today alone in WEHO! Love rest of look!

  • Qitkat

Dear RiRi, this is how you wear a cute striped long sleeve shirt.

  • hotpaprika

Sorry Christina I think you look tacky as always. Perhaps if you ditch that hideous blonde that looks awful on you, and understand you don’t need all that make up, then perhaps my eyes could concentrate on your clothes.

Now can I add a thought about down-voting since I read many opinions about it? Guys, as long as there is an option for that you have to accept that people will click the negative arrow. Hell, I’ve done it too at times when I strongly disagreed with an opinion and didn’t have time to type a comment. May I suggest to the moderators, if the general feeling is against it, to just change a way of rating the comments? But if a system is implemented you can’t blame people for using all of its features.

    • filmcricket

I actually agree with you on downvoting, I don’t think it’s as big a deal as others seem to, although I also agree there’d be less of it if it weren’t anonymous. But T&Lo can’t do anything about it, it’s a feature of Disqus. Which sucks as a comment system in general, but it’s the one a lot of sites are going with (must be tablet friendly or something).

      • sagecreek

One thing I like about T-Lo is that it’s rarely used, which makes it more impactful…except in cases like this when someone goes nuts.

And I am filled with shame that I just typed “impactful”, which is not a real word. Must Have More Coffee.

    • @Biting Panda

I love to makepeople laugh, but I’d never expect everyone to like or agree with it all. think there’s nothing wrong with using the down vote to express opinion. But when some individual goes on a wordless clicking spree, that’s just petulant and passive whining.

Because I am a loquacious Kitten, I personally choose to offer up my counter points, rather than click and go. That’s just me.

    • marlie

I don’t personally like the downvoting option, but in this particular thread, it’s pretty obvious that someone took the time to log in and then to downvote each and every single comment indiscriminately, regardless of the actual content of the comment.

Every site has their own “culture,” but, on this site in general, it’s not done unless you find something that someone said to be *offensive.* Here, it’s not interpreted as “I don’t agree with you,” rather, it’s “what you said was inappropriate.”

    • SugarSnap108

I don’t have any problem with down-voting. It’s just that in this post, there was some random person down-voting every comment — even the most innocuous, such as, “I like hats.” I found it funny and crazy.

  • Hooray! Looks like her style GPS finally let her exit on a chic street instead of WTF avenue.

  • The make-up is a little thick, but yeah, she looks really good!

This look is working much better for her than it did for Madonna.

  • Tanya Wade

I would like it more if the makeup gun wasn’t set to “Killer Clowns From Outer Space,” but the shirt is fresh and fun.

  • crash1212

Love the outfit and don’t hate the hat. I must say though, that her feet and hands? That’s the reason I stopped using tanning products years ago. I cannot understand how anybody could think THAT looks better than your natural pale skin. Blech.

  • CeeRich

    Looking good!

  • stubbornthoughts

All those skin tones are very distracting. She looks…unclean. Love the outfit, not a lot of thought necessary, which seems good for her. Hate the eye makeup.

    Great hoops!

  • decormaven

    Marked improvement. Thumbs up.

  • boweryboy

Roasted chicken hands and feet aside, she looks chic, stylish, and sexy without being vulgar. I don’t even mind the hat, but can we talk about the hair? Girlfriend needs an intervention stat.

    • Madam Von Sassypants

The whole head just reads PORN STAR. The hair, the lashes, the earrings…
You know what would be amazing? If she didn’t try to sell SEX SEXSEXSEX SEEEXXXXXX with every outfit. I’d love to see her truly tomboy it up.

      • boweryboy

I give her the benefit of the doubt for at least not looking like she’s in the middle of having sex on the red carpet, as she usually does.

  • jw_ny

She looks great here! Casual chic. Love it head to toe (well…yeah, the spray tan is too much, but this is such a vast improvement overall for Christina that I can only love.)

  • Jessica O’Connell

She almost looks like “Genie in a Bottle” Christina again!

  • Lilyana_F

Ok, she looks better than usual, so she’s on the right track, at least. But, I mean, she can’t afford better hair? That thing is yellow and thirsty.

  • lifeisastory

She looks GREAT! A wee too orange, but she’s making baby steps.

  • Ashley Stacey

I dream of a day when her and Brittany can go to a more natural looking color. These dried up yellow locks are tired. Give your hair a break ladies!

  • She wore a lot of things in this vein on The Voice last season, and looked amazing. One of the best was a white button-down, ripped jeans, and an undone bowtie worn like a scarf around her neck. She looked tough and sexy and cool, and I suspect that is how she would like to look.

  • julnyes

Her personal style has improved by leaps and bounds. I am not going to complain about the make-up, because she like a heavy application and to be honest I think her face can handle it. I do wish she would cut out the orange tan and pull back on the extensions. Overall I think she looks healthy and chic and I’d give her an Atta-girl.
