I am really not feeling this! The Queen’s Hermes scarves, Mary Poppins’ carpet bags and Right Said Freds’ string vests? This is not what I want beautiful Burberry Prorsum men to be wearing!

      • kimmeister

They are clearly Too Sexy for those ensembles.

      • Joey Melliza

and i quote… Right Said Fred

      • MzzPants

While I agree that this feels like a stretch for Burberry, your descriptions are the very reasons it appeals to me.

    • Sarah

White mesh shirts are the new black, it would appear.

      • carlaaxtman

It must stop RIGHT NOW. Pitchforks and torches, people. If I see this on the street I cannot be responsible for any deaths that may occur.

        • demidaemon

Don’t go into a dance club!

    • Shawn EH

I don’t get the scarves or blankets, but some of the raincoats are pretty nice.

    • Blair Sylvester

these looks are just so affected. I know runway looks often are but these really take the cake on affectation. Also I’m pretty sure you could fit a dead body in most of those bags.

      • formerlyAnon

Thank-you. The allure of the bags is provisionally explained. Perfect for a fashionable life of crime.

    • vickilu

It’s very “Pendelton meets Mary Poppins*”, those carpet bags, man. Love ‘em. A little underwhelmed, though.

    • http://www.youtube.com/user/TheOctocornNetwork International Model

I love the idea that it’s a cold, rainy day outside, but underneath all that is a beautiful merman caught in a net, yearning to be free…

      • Sarah

SNORT. He needs those coats because he’s a tropical merman, from warmer climes. When he wishes to emerge from the deep to tote huge carry-on baggage while searching for love, he must bundle up.

    • Glenn Johnson

I’m hijacking the hubs account again…does anyone know the name of the model in the 4th picture down? He is wearing the sheepskin jacket and carrying what looks to be my yarn bag. What a striking looking young man.

      • kimmeister

I was particularly entranced by him because of those amazing cheekbones!

      • Domo_Konnichiwa

        Ryohei Yamada.

        • Glenn Johnson

Thank you very much. Bitter Kitten Rescue!

      • Jacob Bowen

        Cheek bones for dayyyzzzz!!!

    • crash1212

Are those…capes, large scarves, throw rugs? Odd. And it’s never a good time for a mesh T-shirt, I don’t care how much it costs.

    • wisenhar

      I don’t get it.

    • charlotte

“Remember guys, we don’t want to see any hands!”

      • Jacob Bowen

Obviously hands are SO OUT this season.

    • Spreecord

Look, I love Jarvis Cocker as much as the next girl (and quite a bit more than most… *fans self*), but I absolutely cannot wait to see the end of consumptive male models.

Also, I want to enough money to buy my husband the rain coat the 3rd lad from the bottom is wearing.

    • Let it out

Ugh, Burberry, please go back to the beautiful classic fabrics and silhouettes that make your coats continually crush-worthy. But keep that last one for me, because divine. The second one would be an acceptable substitute, but that is all.

    • hughman

      “What do you think Samantha?”
“Me-OW, Carrie. It’s very Lawrence of My Labia. I’ll take one in every color.”

      • vitaminC

“And I thought *I* was eating eggs!”

    • StellaZafella

Between the loose, sloppy t’s and snotty expressions I keep hearing these twee’s standing at the bottom of the stairs yelling “STELLLAAA!…Can I talk to your boyfriend?”

I also want one of the carpet bags, if only to see the look on the face of the checker at the grocery store when I say: “Just put it all in here.”

      • demidaemon

You are so awesome! I would totally want to be a fly on the wall for either of those conversations.

    • boweryboy

I usually covet at least half a dozen coats in every Burberry collection. This collection not so much.

      • MilaXX

not even that knee length camel colored coat? #9

        • boweryboy

I like the idea of it, but it reminds me too much of the Miu Miu Marsha Brady coats.

    • StillGary

Let’s agree to call them “manchos.”

    • Janice Bartels

Is Burberry sponsoring a new bowling team?

    • Aldona Dye

If you need a coat, you probably should try something warmer than a mesh shirt underneath.

My brain is gagging everytime I think of mesh shirts.

    • vitaminC

      Sigh. I miss Bea Arthur.

    • Dancer

Who’s going to walk about with a blanket over their shoulder? Just wondering….

      • MilaXX

        *raises hand* It’s cold!

      • ankali

A horse. Those look like saddle blankets.

        • Dancer

For the fancy horse of course!

    • kimmeister

Holy smokes, you could smuggle a small child in those bags!

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_QFW22QV426LUOEPGASPZJWJMDE MishaFoomin

      Upscale dog blankets.

The guy in the second to last picture (not the thumbnails) cracks me up. His expression is like he was caught at the tail end of a angry sigh puffing out his mouth.

      • algaechick

I was imagining a backstage quarrel between him and the guy who looks like he’s about ready to cry (4 pictures up from angry guy, in long blue multicolor coat). I think the blue guy is upset with angry guy for stealing his accessories-I think he’s the only one who didn’t get a carpet bag or a blanket-shawl.

    • Ashleigh

I cannot seem to get past those damn mesh tank tops…

    • MilaXX

I really like these. well except for the second look. The rest are full of coat porn, bag porn and scarf porn. Love that knee length camel coat and also the blue/burgundy coat.

    • fairi5fair

Well, at least the models are handsome.

    • jangma

It’s so odd. There are some beautiful coats (as expected) but those mesh tanks, the carpet bags, the ginormous scarf/wrap things… yikes. Also, what is this makeup? Dusting some bronzer on these consumptive models just makes them look sallow.

    • barbarienne

Not sure how I feel about the encroachment of women’s fabrics and drapery into menswear. As a feminist, I approve of breaking down gender barriers in all directions. As a woman with a predilection for manly men, I am a little sad.

    • alyce1213

When I see styling choices like the white mesh tanks here or the dead birds on the McQueen models’ heads, I wonder — who suggested that? And who said “Good idea.” Oh, to be a fly on the wall.

    • funwithpurses

Gorgeous fabrics, coats & carpetbags… just not quite getting ‘em for dudes.

    • formerlyAnon

There are some nice coats here and what I imagine to be nice trousers. But I am rather distracted in a bad way by the blankets draped artfully to obscure many of the coats, the hands jammed in pockets to obscure the way the trousers fall, and am going to go on record as being horrified if string vests of the white fishnet sort are going to come back. NO. I beg you fashion industry, do not convince attractive young men to make their lovely torsos look cheesy and silly by putting those things on. Keep them away from bands and hot actors.

      • Coolekat

Don’t let your babies grow up to be cowboys.

    • Coolekat

At least there are no skirts.

    • t bell

Don’t think that those scarf things would be very practical and that poor choice of models does nothing for the clothes.

    • Isabel

Bags – good for a quick trip!

    • marlie

I’m a little disappointed. I expect Burberry to be tailored, with classic silhouettes, and while there are a couple of items that fit the bill, the rest is a little standard. And I’m really not feeling the man-capes.

      • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

I spent some time on the Burberry website last night (looking for a leather trench with quilted sleeves that Beckett was wearing on an episode of Castle – a similar one is on heavy discount for a mere £2000 – I don’t usually torture myself like that but I was curious) and it was all SO beautiful and this just is not.

        • marlie

That would be torture to look at all the pretty things that I can’t buy right now.

          • formerlyAnon

It shows enormous faith in the future to categorize goods tagged at 2000 pounds – discounted – as “can’t buy right now.” I salute you.

            • marlie

Or, you know, EVER. I’m trying to be optimistic, here. ;)

    • kategs

collections like this make me so happy I am tall. I’d love to own about 80% of the coats and I adore those carpet bags. The scarves will be taken over by the gay wind chime in no time flat.

    • Jacob Bowen

Is Linus from the Peanuts the inspiration for this collection? Because I didn’t know it was in to carry around your blanket when you have left the house? I LOVE a good warm blanket, ESPECIALLY in Northern Illinois, but if I’m wearing an EXPENSIVE Burberry coat, there is NO WAY I’m covering it up!

    • Leah Elzinga

honest question: are the coats INTENTIONALLY made to look two sizes too big? Because to me they don’t look oversize so much as the WRONG size…

    • ALZQN

      antique store mannequins

    • Tarquin

      GREAT SHOES

    • EveEve

I adore the carpet bags, and the shearling is to die for. Most of the coats and jackets would be great as womens wear. I might have to investigate!

    • greenwich_matron

Camilla Parker Bowles is apparently the new cross-dressers’ icon.

    • quiltrx

I can’t with this. Some of the patterns and colors are gorgeous. And the boys certainly are. But when you can tell the models feel silly, you know no ‘man on the street’ is going to be caught dead in this stuff.
Nice try, Burberry…but pashmina/area rugs and the Dali version of Mary Poppins’ bag are NOT going to catch on.

    • Diego!

Mmmm too much print for my taste. I’ll pass. Sorry.

    • Lily-Rygh

Because wearing a white mesh fishing net shirt and a throw rug swiped from a ski lodge in Utah at the same time makes PERFECT sense.

    • Danielle

      THE MAN BAGS UNF

    • Ann VerWiebe

The carpetbags are almost as tall as me! I could carry a puppy in that man bag!

    • Patrick Cleary

Some of the coats are gorgeous. I wish they didn’t cover them up with the…ponchos? Serapes? Afghans?

    • conniemd

Why are all the men so miserable looking. It’s not giving face, it’s looking like they wish a hole would open up in the earth and devour them.

    • lalahartma

Hate that mesh, it’s cheap looking and distracting.

    • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

yum, love that burgundy and gray coat (last large shot). i want it for my hubs. do you think they’ll give us one just because we’re fabulous hermits, living in paradise? they really should…

    • Corsetmaker

Hahaha…. string vests! seriously! Lovely coats though

      • Lucas

My thoughts exactly! Those shirts just look sad. I’m not even sure what to think of some of the coats and wraps. I really, really like the shapes, cuts and materials I’m seeing. I’d cut a bitch to wear a few of them. I usually love Burberry stuff, but something did go slightly… off.

        • Corsetmaker

Someone is having a laugh, they have to be! String vests are Monty Python Gumbys, Rab C Nesbitt and every 70s sitcom slob. No amount of fashion irony can change that!
But I love the two tone raincoat and that pale camel coat looks so beautifully soft.

    • demidaemon

This is…interesting. I’m just not sure about pairing awesome coats with standard trousers and clubwear tops.
