Serving up bridesmaid realness. Makeup is horrible.

    • Mary Featherstone

This really is a less frilly version of the bridesmaid dress in “Bridesmaids.”

    • Lilah

      Total bridesmaid.

    • charlotte

Maybe this is some sort of inside joke we are not in on? The dress just doesn’t seem to be very Aubrey.

      • Daisy Walker

Yes! Maybe she’s just trolling errybody like Lena. She looks WAY too happy.

        • demidaemon

Knowing her personality, I could totally believe she would be doing this.

        • Maybe she’s just trolling Lena. 😀

    • sojourneryouth

So Barbie. Serioulsy, those are Dream House colors, with a silly purse. And those SHOES! Gah!

    • NYCGlamourpuss

Not just bridesmaid realness, but clearly a bridesmaid at an Easter wedding.

      • Daisy Walker

Funny you should say that because I actually wore a bridesmaid dress in a spring wedding that was the color of her skirt. It was 1987 and it was SATIN. Just thinking about it makes my eye twitch.

    • Errick Loyola

Can’t say more. You nailed it.

    • NBG

Wow, I’ve only seen those colors together in bags of Easter M&M’s!

  • schadenfreudelicious

Once again proving that age old adage of you really will be able to wear that bridesmaid dress again…

    • Spreecord

Yes. Like when you’re Belle of the Tulip Ball.

  • mshesterp

I never thought Aubrey Plaza would pick something so…Easter Egg. She’s usually so deadpan and dour (on the show and in real life). She looks positively giddy here!

    • Introspective

      or nuts.

    • gabbilevy

I think it’s because we’re all convinced she actually is April.

  • Looks vintage. In this case, that is NOT a compliment.

  • Latin Buddy

Disney-Mulan Realness (the purple and pink combo look like the fabulous costumes in the film)

  • ailujailuj

    who got married?

  • boweryboy

The expression of the guy behind her in the last photo says it all.

    • Introspective

i live for when the cameras catch background shade being thrown!!

his face was totally my face when i clicked on this thumbnail…

  • hughman

It needs that huge necklace and zuhz shown on the model. Aubrey’s looks like she was given the Happy Meal necklace for dress up.

    • decormaven

And the Paint By Numbers pumps.

    • Little_Olive

Really, if that necklace is not made of candy someone on her tea, should sue the jeweler. And she should sue the person on her team who picked something so sad-looking and, adding insult to injury, not at all suited for the dress or her face.

    • kimmeister

Yes, the necklace looks very homemade.

  • MissFern

    shoes hurt my soul.

  • Introspective

barbie gets married and skipper is mad that she’s never a bride so she puts on some crazy shoes to spite her bridezilla big sis.

  • Imasewsure

Oh gawd I missed the shoes when I saw this on tv… even worse! Luckily Paula Patton won the Worst of the Worst award last night!! This was my number two for sure

    • colleenjanel

I think Zoe Saldana joins Paula Patton in my worst two. (Not sure whose is more offensive)

      • Imasewsure

Yes that one was awful too…. I think I heard her interview that the designer made it especially for her… she probably hated it as much as we do but wore it to be nice… better to look good than be nice (on the RC that is!!)

        • demidaemon

I think that applies for many things that have been made for someone to wear when, in your heart of hearts, you know the thing is hideous.

  • Diego!

Oh dear… If you are supposed to wear that kind of dress, try to go by feet to the red carpet. It’s all wrinkled. You ruined that dress and your hair and make up are non existant. OUT

  • French_Swede

I like the dress. If Aubrey wore a more substantial necklace, like the model, I think it would take away the “bridesmaid” look. The colors are very pretty and I’m always up for a bow. The dress fits her nicely too. But from the neck up, it’s not good. Her hair looks very greasy.

  • sugarkane105

This was my favorite color combination… when I was four years old.

  • KinoEye

Really odd choice of gown for Little Miss Deadpan. Love this girl, and wish she had better gays working for her.

  • Blair Sylvester

This is a face forward dress . That crap on the back looks tacked on

  • teensmom99

I don’t care what you all say. I like it!

    • Slanted & Enchanted

Me too, haha. Not a fan of the clutch, but overall I think it’s a fun dress.

      • teensmom99

Yeah–and it shows a different side of her . . .Not just your grunge girlfriend.

  • @Biting Panda

As we are used to the women of comedy spectacularly tanking it, time and time again, I say we encourage the attempt. After all, the fit is good, the shoes are fun, there is a necklace. We’ve seen so much worse that, while this is admittedly bridesmaid, there are worse things to embody on the RC.

(Ok, you caught me. I really just want to be in the circle of friendship with her and Anna Kendrick, I’m totally kissing ass.)

    • demidaemon

It is better to have no shame than a little shame used sparingly.

  • Squareface

    Tan lines girllll

    • @Biting Panda

Fresh off a Mexico vacation, what’s a girl to do?

  • Bridesmaid Barbie with etsy jewellery made to match the shoes. So very twee. Worthy of Zooey Deschanel instead of the symphony of beige she pulled out.

    • Imasewsure

But you have to admit Zooey looked better than this even in her vanilla ensemble!!

  • Danielle

  • Me Again

Girl, that IS your color… but still not sure if that’s your dress.

  • marlie

I can’t quite put my finger on why, but I’m not loving this dress on her. And the shoes and clutch were ALL wrong. And pretty enough but underwhelming hair and makeup.

ETA: The other BKs helped me figure out why I don’t like this… It’s bridesmaid, all the way.

  • Evan

Easter Brunch isn’t for a few more months dear.

  • Nimith

I don’t know why but my first thought was ‘Country Music Awards?’

    • Little_Olive

      Babies’ Choice Awards?

  • jilly_d

I didn’t hate this, but I think the purple’s a good color for her, and I love April Ludgate so much that it renders me incapable of being objective to Aubrey’s RC appearances.

  • Lily-Rygh

  • Stefanie Argudo Mackenzie

I’m kinda liking the shoes, but other than that, bridesmaid it is.

  • Therese Bohn

Is two-tone the thing this year? (Amy Adams, two reds, Sandra Bullock-who had three colors) This is the worst one. I liked Amy’s, and Sandra’s was better than this.

  • Trickytrisha

What the heck is that “beach party” necklace doing with this dress at this event? Actually, what is this dress doing on the red carpet anyway. It belongs in a wedding. And those shoes belong on some 50ish matron wearing a tacky suit out shopping in Miami. I think the clutch belongs in my 9 year old niece’s dress up chest.

  • nannypoo

I like this for her. It’s not perfect, but it’s good for her.

  • Jaeda Laurez

The top is non-descript, and the bottom is dreadful. But the colors are good, so there’s that. I’d love the shoes with another dress- they don’t work here. I even like the clutch, but everything? the sum of its parts? No. Someone teach her how to pose- a good pose can help.

  • susan6

Between her dress and Sandra Bullock’s, was the theme of the evening “cheap-looking prom dresses”? This thing looks highly flammable.

  • LeelaST

Hate the Payless shoes. The back of that dress (it’s not actually a bow is it?!) is like the one Taylor Swift wore – a bunch of folded, heavy fabric that seems like an afterthought.

  • mdcoon127

    Why is this whiteboard worthy?

  • Anna_Cecilia

My greatest ambition was to be a Disney Princess too. When I was 6.

  • ThaliaMenninger

You get the idea that there are some ladystars, like Aubrey Plaza and whatsername from Modern Family and even Sandra Bullock, maybe, who just hate this whole put on a dress thing. She looks uncomfortable and awkward and like somebody talked her into this when it is SO not her.

  • DTLAFamilies

    Barney the Dinosaur realness.

  • Erica_Vuitton

Ever since she tried to crash Will Ferrell’s acceptance speech at the MTV awards this chick it high up on my IHL. If she was an 8 year old, this would be awesome but she’s not so it just looks stupid.

  • Doesn’t work on sooo many levels.

  • a_liking

oh, it’s nothing exciting, but she looks pretty and decent. don’t understand all the hate.

  • courtney hooper

I’d argue the dress wasn’t even good on the model, but at least it didn’t have the DTM shoes. What was she/her stylist thinking?

  • MoHub

This started out looking promising, and then I scrolled down.

  • MilaXX

It’s pretty. Great color on her, nice pop with the accessorizes. It looks a little ordinary though. Every thing looks like something an average person could get instead of an impossible to obtain designer gown.

  • Little_Olive

    My Little Pony pre-fall 2014.

    • Imasewsure

My son carried his purple My Little Pony around for about a year.. and you are right, it was exactly this color scheme and looked just about as plastic-y (of course it was plastic… unlike whatever hiddy fabric this is!). YIKES

      • demidaemon

I love that your son had a My Little Pony!

  • Saturnine

I don’t like these oddly-folded silk taffeta origami things everyone sees to be wearing. Too many squash folds. Nicely-folded origami I would be all for.

  • The tone on tone is working but the enormous butt bow killed it, and the shoes are embarrassing.

  • Sunraya

Despise the bow, actually, I LOVE the shoes!!!

  • rissa42210

  • MzzPants

    The shoes are fun.

  • mickiemonkey

She is sporting a giant vulvar on her behind.

  • MMK_LB

Those are the exact colors of my 8 year old daughter’s room.

  • Jacob Bowen

This dress BEGS for a good necklace…and hers is just hiding.

  • Pterodactyl111

I love the idea of a patterned show, but I wish they didn’t color match. Other than that, I kind of like it.

  • sienna elm

Aw – she’s going to the prom!

  • e jerry powell

That looks like a damn Chōchō musubi. Is it supposed to?

  • conniemd

Satin tone on tone appears the runway theme of the season. At least she wasn’t all wrinkly. Don’t know why designers want to use Satin when it screams bridesmaid/prom dress.

  • crash1212

This is the first time I’m seeing the whole look. I really like it. It’s a great color for her, fits like a dream, sophisticated but fun. I think her hair and make-up are perfect. Nicely done!

  • Fred Vaughn

I have nothing… It’s really neither here nor there. She’s the one who should’ve wilded out in that dress Lena Dunham fucked up with!

  • demidaemon

This is one of her better RC outings as of late, but that buttbow is horrible.

  • quiltrx

I can’t hate on this if she was just wanting something joyful and fun and a little silly. All that purple makes me smile.

  • bertkeeter

    Shoes ruin it!

  • ThesisMonkey

girl, that bride must hate you. and those shoes! *faints*

  • supri_supri

I like your bag Aubrey! But strapless is not your friend.

  • Aaminah Khan

She’s got a lovely smile, doesn’t she? I’d never noticed. Switch out the necklace for something less cheap-looking, give her a bracelet, change the shoes and do something with her hair and makeup and this wouldn’t be terrible.

  • MartyBellerMask

No, sorry. No soup for you.

  • smh4748

I don’t love this “straight waistline in contrasting colors”thing that is apparently happening (see–Amy Adams). I’ve yet to see the woman it really flatters.

I do kind of love the overwhelming purpleness of this dress though. Quite an underutilized color.

  • formerlyAnon

The shoes were a good choice that couldn’t save the rest of this. It looks almost home-designed.

  • I MUST HAVE THOSE SHOES! Ugh…gorgeous. The dress is nice too…but ….SHOES!
