      eh

      • H2olovngrl

My first thought was the equally succinct, “yikes”

    • Diego!

WOW! What a great collection!!! I love the architectonic approach on
some of the dresses. This collection is amazing. I love it. Bravo
Donatella! Though, I must say, I can see very few people wearing it. You
have to have THE body to rock this dresses / attires.

    • Introspective

am i wrong that i find everything here to be eye searing? beyond the black final dress, which does admittedly feel fierce, the rest feels overwrought and garish. pass.

      • ballerinawithagun

The black is stunning and wearable for lots of (rich) people. Many of them just look like cellophane gift basket wrapping. Expensive hoodies.

      • demidaemon

It’s Donatella. I think that says all we need to know.

    • @Biting Panda

I am looking forward to seeing some of Hollywood’s tackiest women rocking the shit out of some of these!
My favorite is the Trasnformer face top/billowy gunmetal bottom dress.

      • Anna

I was going to say the chartreuse numbers have Paula Patton written ALL over them. The white suits and/or the white fur coat I predict will be featured in some kind of Lady Gaga leaving her apartment pap photo.

        • @Biting Panda

Well, to touch back to nearly a week ago, when the question of “Gaga, whose face are you wearing?” came up, it’s most definitely a question that begs answering. Because, I just saw a pic of Dontella and Gaga together, strange things are afoot at the Circle K.

        • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

I was skim-reading and saw that as “Lady Gaga having a pap smear”. Also plausible.

          • Anna

            LOL. Indeed!

        • http://piblet.tumblr.com/ Anastasia

Her and J. LO are going to be all over this.

          • Anna

Oh totally, I definitely see J-Lo in the second last one.

      • kimmeister

I saw it as a feline face, but transformer works too.

      • PlethoraofBooks

I want Miley to wear the black sparkly see through jump suit!

    • Jecca2244

my first thought was: Do these models really have boobs?!

      • jabes

Photo #2 — I can’t imagine those are anything but implants.

    • StellaZafella

      “Midnight at the oasis,
      Send your camel to bed…
Let’s slip off to a sand dune
      …real soon…kick up a little dust!”
      -Maria Muldaur

      • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

“I just can’t get you out of my head
Boy your loving is all I think about
I just can’t get you out of my head
Boy it’s more than I dare to think about

        La la la
        La la la la la”
        – Kylie Minogue

        • Claudia Fernandes

at least her white version had much more class than this…

          • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

            Very true!

    • anotherkate

Appropriately trashy, with enough interest and craftsmanship to make it capital-D Designer. I really love the long silver skirt–looks like it’s made of liquid metal! I’m torn on the headgear–they’re pretty, but there’s something a little bit too harem-y about them when they’re mixed with all those cutouts.

    • Kathy

      Very Cher.

    • marlie

This is a bunch of “of course” designs from Donatella. Heidi will likely be the only ladystar to attempt any of these (hopefully). Also, the fabric on most of these gowns looks flammable.

      • demidaemon

That’s REALLY wishful thinking on your part. I expect to see these all over the place, especially on C-Listers and below. Unfortunately.

        • marlie

I did forget about someone like Paula Patton (and other C-listers begging for attention of ANY kind). Paula would wear 3 or 4 of these just during Grammy weekend itself.

    • TrixieConQueso

A “Long Tall Women in A Black Dress” for the win. Sigh. So dreamy. So not for short curvy gals like me. But pretty kickass for all the Glam-Azons out there.

    • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

This is all so hilariously vulgar and tasteless, I can only sit and smile. The vast majority is unwearable except by ladies attending the Adult Film awards

      • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

The one that looks like the Transformers logo on illusion netting actually reminds me of those hilariously inappropriate “Aboriginal” figureskating costumes from a year or so ago.

      • StellaZafella

Don’t forget us drag queens…you need balls to wear some of this.

      • littlemac8

I thought you said you could only “shit and smile.” Just say no to the snood!

    • Daenyx

Tacky as shit. I like a few of them, but for the most part the silhouettes just look… awkward. And the fabric looks cheap.

      • KateShouldBeWorking

        Fire-hazard cheap.

    • Claudia Fernandes

      no.like.at.all.

    • tereliz

The black “deco” cocktail dress is wearable by mere mortals. Everything else is strictly FMO and the shoes are seriously ugly.

      • marlie

Strangely enough, the shoes are pretty much the only things I DO like.

        • tereliz

I like the metallics and the long diagonal strap, but the nude plasticky bits bother me.

        • tereliz

I like the metallics and the long diagonal strap, but the nude plasticky bits bother me.

        • ballerinawithagun

The angle of the shoes make them look pigeon toed

    • Latin Buddy

This has J Lo written all over it but hoping Zoe Saldana steals a few from her.

      • decormaven

Yes, I see JLo in several of these looks.

    • Erica_Vuitton

I’m 100% biased on this because she played Aura & DONATELLA! on the runway but I love just about all of these looks. It’s Versace so OF COURSE it’s sexy down to there and sparkley to the max. Love those hoods!

    • kim bunchalastnames

among the tacky and almost trashy, there is some actual mojo in this collection. suits in pictures two, five, and six, for instance, and some of the gowns. next!

    • Toni

I think these are fantastic, and I’m loving that the shoes are not sky-high.

    • Kelly

Typical tacky Versace with a few fun pieces woven in. The pseudo-harem looks make me a little squirmy — paging Edward Said. I expect to see Rudolph Valentino leering around. And that first pic, the chartreuse one — are those visible panty lines? If so, is it part of the look or just a mistake? Still, I could see ’80s Cher rocking some of these.

      • ballerinawithagun

Had to go back to see what you thought were visible panty lines. It is just the diagonal line of the fabric coming across underneath from the other side. No panties on these models!

        • Kelly

Ah, I see it now. That’s what I’d always thought about the models — no undies. But then I thought — well, Versace, who knows? Maybe she’s going to make panty lines a thing now.

    • Blair Sylvester

for what it is its really not bad. Someone on her team obviously switched her from crack to crack lite

      • demidaemon

How does crack lite work exactly? Inquiring minds want to know.

        • Blair Sylvester

I don’t know how it works but it is somehow less potent. For a visual of full strength crack look no further than the versace menswear show

    • ailujailuj

a little too bob mackie for me… but also, gloriously mackiesque….. I WANT that liquid gun metal gray fabric of the skirt. unbelievably gorgeous.
ETA: the chartreuse number is what i imagine I would be wearing around the house (8″ too long) when I’m 92, wispily floating through the day on a pillow of the finest scotch and barbiturates, slightly askew turban and finely lacquered nails waving the opera length slimline around as I told a sentimental tale… dancing smoke plumes engulfing my beautiful memories… then disappearing into the drapery. . .

      • imspinningaround

Thank you for mentioning Bob Mackie. This felt referential, but I couldn’t put my finger on what it was. I kept seeing “’80s power bitch” over and over but I couldn’t figure out how or why this collection felt familiar.

        • ballerinawithagun

Someone mentioned Cher above, Cher and Bob Mackie are synonymous.

    • ailujailuj

    • Kent Roby

That first look (as many of the others) would look ridiculous on a mortal, but Lupita would rock the shit out of it.

    • nowlo

Whenever I look at a distressing Versace collection, I remind myself that tacky people need clothes too.

    • jhedman

Erte for the 21st century. As Nina Garcia would say, that’s not a compliment.

    • maxxman

A mosaic bra and some of the widest hips I have seen on models. Not a flattering collection.

    • Sobaika

This seems as if it’s what my Pakistani forefathers would wear if they were equal parts disco and alien.

      I love it.

    • MK03

      Versace’s first drag collection.

    • EEKstl

I like the final look and the mesh/black sequin top and fluid metal skirt is lovely. The rest – not so much.

    • http://www.youtube.com/user/TheOctocornNetwork International Model

These certainly do dress the mistresses…

    • lalahartma

      Please, no more illusion netting.

    • Nicole Little

What figure skaters wear to the opera.

    • kimmeister

95% tacky, but I do like some of the head coverings and blazers. Also, some of the sheer ab panels with tiles are kind of cool in a mosaic kind of way.

    • Julie Ree

This was inspired by which season of RPDR?

      • demidaemon

        Roxxxy Andrews.

        • Julie Ree

I knew I had seen this before!

    • NilBlur

      Maria Montez.
      Mario Montez.

    • Carla_Charlton

Was Versace always this stripper-turned-golddigger-y? I haven’t been paying attention, I guess.

      • susan6

Pretty much….they’re sort of aiming to be the clothes that the mistress wears, not the wife.

      • Synnamin

yep. Versace has never quite been able to walk the line between sophisticated and tacky. Instead, it straddles it.

    • PastryGoddess

JLo will be backing up a tractor trailer to the warehouse in 5…4…3…2…

    • Sabin

Oh my gosh, these are so Russian ice dancer circa 2002.

      Except for Seth-Aaron’s mesh pantsuit.

    • conniemd

Color me crazy but I totally love this collection. I realize it has some garishness and could be compared to harem wear, but they are beautiful in either bold colors or really well used foofaw on illusion netting. And I love draping as to me it just makes women look pretty. I am not a Versace fan, but to me this is somewhat understated, given the designer. I expect to see a lot of them in magazine photoshoots and on the red carpet.

    • MzzPants

Fun to look at, tough to wear. The draped hoods remind me of Grace Jones.

    • susan6

I kind of love this collection as art. The flowing watery lines and draping. The Versace-standard skin exposure is actually relatively toned down here. Not sure how I feel about the head coverings. They’re pretty in some of the cases. I’ll just think of them in terms of Kylie Minogue or Grace Jones….they’ll work on people who can make them work.

    • Trickytrisha

      Very expensive sleaze.

    • MilaXX

What can you say? It’s Versace. You know what you’re getting. That said I like the royal blue gown in the middle , and the pewter gown below te naked jumpsuit.

    • unbornfawn

Way too many plunging necklines. I predict we will be seeing pieces of this collection all over the red carpet, worn poorly.

    • somebody blonde

I think I love all the jewel tones, everything that’s black except the weird jumpsuit, am okay with all the white, and think the pastels were a bridge too far into tackyland.

    • demidaemon

      Tacky will as tacky does.

      Also: Really tacky.

    • webslice33

it’s like donatella has not had a new design perspective in years..it’s always the same year in year out

    • http://www.argonauticos.blogspot.com/ jason

I guess criticizing Versace for looking tacky is like spitting in the wind, but still….

    • Dana

I don’t hate most of it. The short white dress with a headwrap and the long black dress are the best IMO.

    • DesertDweller79

Oh, Donatella, what would we do without you? Sigh.

    • shopgirl716

Tackytown, except for the last dress, which rocks.

    • Jacqueline Wessel

I hope this doesn’t mean the snood is coming back.

    • quiltrx

I like the more Balmain-ish ones, but some of the others…yikes. My favorites are the white, 5th down, and the last (large picture) black gown.

    • understateddiva

I’m starting to come around on Versace. This is really fun.

    • http://piblet.tumblr.com/ Anastasia

Donatella clashed with The Blonds and spat out some Spandex – Polyester Cleopatra realness.

    • littlemac8

      Heidi, Heidi, Heidi!

    • littlemac8

JUST SAY NO TO THE SNOOD!

      • LaSylphide

Actually, I thought the snoods were the best part of the whole collection! Different strokes…

    • jangma

It’s tacky and I love it.

    • boweryboy

Of course. I do like the orange dress.

    • CommentsByKatie

Lol. For me, most of it is a completely unwearable tacky fest, but I think there are 3 or 4 that will be real stunners on the red carpet. I like the last 5 or so before the thumbnails.

    • LaSylphide

I keep thinking that if The Blonds did this collection, it would be fun, not tacky. Well, ok, it would be tacky, but it would be fun tacky. You know? And for heaven’s sake, at least there’s some COLOR.

    • MissAmynae

an improvement over the last one or two. some of these have real potential- but only on the right people.

    • bingo

why oh why do designers put the most pale women in orange dresses? it takes a certain amount of melanin for that look.

    • Closet Crisis

All I could think of as I scrolled down the page was “Dynasty 2014″. Awesome fun. Would love to see some ladystars rock this sh*t on the RC.

    • hmatz

      Disco Star Wars.

    • HeatherMcIlrath

This collection made all the rich, socialite drag queens very, very happy.
I sincerely hope that there are enough dresses to go around!

    • sekushinonyanko

So I Dream of Jeannie! I love it. SOLD! So much more than usual Versace which is so damn harsh and tacky…

    • amaranth16

      That celadon green is stunning.

    • Ashley Ellen Wilson

      LOVE all the head cowls

    • SophieCollier

      Fredericks of Hollywood.

    • Fräulein K.

Love the cowls, I hope someone has the guts to wear one on the red carpet. Very Adult Princess Leia. Love the second look, the white pant suit and a few of the gowns too, but none of the ones with illusion netting. Of course it’s tacky – that’s the entire raison d’etre of the brand, after all, but it’s tacky in a slightly more interesting way than usual.
