Allison Williams at the Christian Dior Fashion Show

Posted on January 21, 2014

We desperately need to take a brief step away from the world of nominees seeking attention at awards shows, darlings.

Let’s look at an actress at a fashion show seeking attention instead.

“Girls” star Allison Williams attends the Christian Dior show as part of Paris Fashion Week Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2014 in Paris, France.

Christian Dior Spring 2014 Collection

It’s not our favorite look in the world, but someone clearly tried to give her some youthful chic to play with. Like that time someone dressed Lena in Miu Miu and Prada for a fashion show, she doesn’t look like she loves this outfit, though. Those leather pants are fabulous but very off-model for her.

And we DETEST the way she belted that trench. You’re a grown woman, not a present.

I think she looks pretty cute! With the coat on. Without this look lacks something to wow me. But she looks pretty!

  • Sobaika

I suspect her style philosophy includes the belief that the more bows, the merrier.

  • crash1212

The classic Trench redesigned to look like a bathrobe…not needed. Love the pants and shoes, not crazy about the top.

  • marlie

I hate the way the coat is belted, but I love the outfit underneath. Chic and cute and a little bit edgy and age appropriate!

  • Anna

Her stylist was clearly of the, “Let’s throw a bunch of Dior in a blender and call it an outfit!!!” mentality. None of these pieces look like they go together.

I love the pants but she doesn’t look very comfortable or happy to be wearing them. Trench is perfect for her Park Avenue Princess aesthetic, but that bow is just silly.

  • @Biting Panda

She’s so precious, it makes my teeth hurt.

      Love the new avatar!

  • boweryboy

    Yeesh.

    • MilaXX

      Amen!

  • Dan_In_NYC

That bag. Yikes. I.m not one for proclamations, but if your bag looks like cheap luggage with stickers and decals all over it, that’s not good. For anyone north of age 15.

As for the rest – minus the trench bow – I like!

  • Kent Roby

That bag is almost as ugly as the mess the models are wearing.

  • Tatiana Luján

I hate the shape of her shirt. The pants and coat are gorgeous.

  • Jecca2244

i really like the outfit sans the bag and coat. ugh. in my next life i want to be able to wear leather pants.

  • Jessica Freeman

Hate the coat and shoes. Want that outfit. Now.

  • MilaXX

I don’t like any of this . The bag doesn’t go with the look or her. The leather pants could have worked with a better top & shoe. The coat fastened like that just looks sloppy & stupid. The shoes aren’t working and look out of place as well. Overall this look is a fail. The individual piece need to be reassembled into better outfits.

That purse hurts my heart. Might as well have been pulling a “Going to Grandma’s” wheeled tote.

      • MilaXX

That purse reminds me of the first episode of The Carrie Diaries. Carrie had this really expensive bag that she inherited from her mother. She gets in a fight with her sister who spills nail polish on it and then she splatters nail polish over it to play it off. Allison is carrying a bag made for a 16 year old in mind.

    • jen_vasm

It’s okay to me, I guess, minus most of the accessories and the belt-tie. The outfit reminds me of 1960s Lost in Space.

  • sagecreek

I don’t love it, but she’s clearly trying to break out of the Upper East Side Matron look that she’s been sporting, so…yay?

  • http://twitter.com/janedonuts Jane Donuts

The outfit itself is really cute and sharp, very Parisian chic. The shoes are butt ugly, the bag looks like something my great aunt would carry, and the coat is ridiculous. Go home, girl, and reaccessorize.

  • KinoEye

She’s… trying? It’s much better than boring, at least. And I really love “You’re a grown woman, not a present.” Truth. The aesthetics of Dior continue to infuriate me. How very clever of you to put the word “yellow” in pink letters on your model’s ass, Raf. I bet you (or whoever was responsible for that look) pored over that little detail instead of, you know, designing beautiful clothing.

  • mmebam

Those shoes, while fabulous, belong nowhere near this outfit.

  • procrastinatrice

Completely agree on the trench. She ruined it. But once the trench is off, I quite like it. It is youthful and chic, and the pants and shoes are killer.

  • Janet B

I would have never paired those shoes with that coat

    • Qitkat

I would never have paired anything with that coat. Ugh. Ly.

  • heartbot

Everything looks cute in isolation, but it just looks off together.

  • decormaven

Who in the heck ties a trench that way? I don’t care if she came out in full-on leather, this gal can’t make the fierce hurdle.

    • bellafigura1

Can. Not. make the fierce hurdle.

  • conniemd

The model’s version of the coat does not even have belt loops, let alone a belt.

  • hillmad

Paging Emma Watson, who would rock this!

    • http://tvblogster.blogspot.com Boop

I absolutely agree! This is look for someone who’s more “gamine”…if that’s the right word.

  • Shawn EH

Better with the coat! Shirt/dress would be cooler without the belt.

  • mlle

That’s the most Ladies Who Lunch I’ve ever seen her hair and makeup. And is her shirt supposed to be a dress? Why is it belted where it is? The only thing this look has going for it is the colour story.

  • Gatto Nero

Do these clothes reflect her personality in the least? It looks as though she asked someone to make her look cool and fresh and they completely f*cked with her, and she has no idea.

  • maretha2

She has the ability to make oxblood leather trousers look precious and dull. This whole look might look fun and edgy on someone else, but on her it just looks like another Upper East Side girl headed out to brunch.

  • kimmeister

Needs darker lip color and better shoes.

  • oohsparkley!

I like it. The cheese stands alone?

    • Sly

I like it to. You are not alone.

  • bellafigura1

I mean, is it hopelessly obvious to suggest she gets cozy with Ralph Lauren? Her physical look is practically off one of his ad pages, and he’d know exactly what to do with her.

  • Hermione

I think I must have an irrational hate going on here–I have never liked her in anything I’ve seen. To me, she is deadly dull and her innate dullness negates any interest her clothes my generate.

    • http://tvblogster.blogspot.com Boop

I understand it. I don’t hate her, but the only notable thing she’s been on is ‘Girls’, yet, she’s already she’d flooding the market with publicity and glamour endorsements. She doesn’t seem that famous to me.

    • somebody blonde

Haha. I love this outfit, but I don’t love it on her. If you imagine this exact outfit on Lucy Liu, it’s easily a WERQ. The problem is the wearer.

  • quiltrx

The cute bag and hideous shoes are pretty much all I find interesting here. I think her blandness is overwhelming the rest.

  • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

I detest that this woman who manages to make a trench look like a bathrobe is at the Dior show and I’m not. There is no justice in this world.

  • Closet Crisis

Hand the outfit over to Emma Watson, she’ll know what to do with it.
