    • charlotte

They are for five year-olds, right?

      • Kittie Fahey

      • 3boysful

5 yr olds wearing smoking jackets.

      • kim bunchalastnames

no, they’re for ME! all of them, but especially the grey ones! and the light blue ones! and the other ones!

      • heuristicvalue

Frillz. These are not growns up. And this is coming from a woman who owns a sweater with a fox on it.

      • BayTampaBay

Who else would wear these but a five year-old.

    • A.W.

I liked these better when Charlotte Olympia released them.

      • DominoEstella

I’m pretty sure this style of slipper/loafer pre-dates Olympia by many, many years.

      • nowlo

I too prefer Charlotte Olympia’s version of this style of loafer. These look sorta cheap for such an expensive shoe. It’s like they just ironed some $5 patches from the craft store on.

    • deathandthestrawberry

They’re twee as fuck, but I’m going to say YAY simply for the fishbone ones..

      • boweryboy

They’re the only pair I liked.

      • MilaXX

Depending on how you styled them they could look twee, hipster or preppy. Nonetheless, I would wear them in a heart beat.

      • Bridget Smith

It helps that those have just a touch of morbidity to tone down the twee.

        • fursa_saida

      • tereliz

God, me too. Glad I’m not the only one.

    • Evan

These have Katy Perry written all over them.

    • foodycatAlicia

Cute. I don’t love a loafer, but for those that do I think these are fun.

    • Marie

    • mjude

I want one of each pair because they would make me happy on a shitty day.

    • marlie

I’d probably not wear any of them, but they’re cute and fun, so YEA.

    • Alyssa

Yay! I love these, and would wear the heck out of them!

    • Kittie Fahey

YEA!!! This would be the one way to get me to wear flats!

    • LeelaST

Every time I see something like this I think “How cute, I wish I were Zoe Deschanel.”

    • Blair Sylvester

yea but I feel like they will take careful styling to not look super twee

    • Sandisan

    •!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

      ALL OF THEM.

(I just looked at the price and ruined my day.)

    • rkdgal

A bit too much whimsy for my taste (and man, I hate the word “whimsy” like some folks hate “moist”).

    • Jaye Tyler

:sings: Yea yea yea, all the livelong day!! Someone hand me my wear-with-everything tights and some high-waisted shorts!!1!

Whoa, sorry kittens, Zooey stole my laptop in a fit of ebullience. However, I am inclined to agree with her nonetheless.

    • formerlyAnon

Cutesy. So, if cutesy is your thing, yea. For me NAY.

(Like Holiday Themed Sweaters, no right or wrong, just personal taste.)

      • BrooklynBomber

Holiday themed sweaters are just wrong.

        • formerlyAnon

Ha! I personally am not a huge fan, but I am very, very fond of several things widely considered tacky (lavish display of year round colored Christmas lights, inside and out, for special occasions & just to cheer up, for instance) so I am not going to rain on anyone’s Holiday Themed Sweaters Parade.

          • BrooklynBomber

I’m with you on the lights. I’m working on a intervention for you with the sweaters.
(Just kidding – really, people should wear what makes them happy. Except Crocs. And Marchesa.)

      • foodycatAlicia

Holiday themed sweaters will be a yay when they come in cashmere. Until then, NAY.

        • formerlyAnon

I find it difficult to believe that somewhere, in some boutique, they don’t. Someone (other than me) should deploy their shopping skills and find them.

          • foodycatAlicia

They probably do, but not at the price I would be prepared to pay! The ones I have seen are all acrylic.

            • formerlyAnon

Oh, so now you’re going to get all demanding and want your fashion to be affordable!?!

You have some nerve, you do.

    • boweryboy

NAY. These are a Yay only for those under the age of 8.

    • hughman

      Not $325 cute.

      • formerlyAnon

Oh fellow plebe. We peasants are blinded by our sullen fixation with paying for food, shelter and transportation.

      • Imasewsure

I’d actually pay that for those if I had a bigger shoe wardrobe. For now (and pretty much forever) I’ll pay that for something awesome but it has to be black, brown or grey…. still like these a lot though

        • Bexxx

          Sigh. That’s half a month’s rent.

        • formerlyAnon

I live in hope that I’ll get to the point I can pay that for a pair of workhorse nice black leather boots. I have to replace the ones that were finally deemed irreparable last year. Though I confess it’s not the price holding me back, it’s finding ones I love as much as the ones I wore for 20 years.

      • muzan-e

        They’re adorable.

And so is the new couch we’ve had our eyes on since autumn.

      • bitchybitchybitchy

Thanks for answering my unspoken question. YIkes-for a pair of loafers with appliques.

    • Constant Reader

I’m going to have to recuse myself from this vote. As a New Englander, the shoes remind me too much of something old-money bitches with ridiculous names like Dodo and Bitsy and Lowie would wear and therefore I am pre-disposed to think ill of them.

      • formerlyAnon

I think your observation is perfectly valid and informs, rather than impedes, your judgement. I take your vote as a “nay.”

      • marlie

And Muffy and Bunny. We have those names on the Main Line, too.

      • kimmeister

You sound like a Jane Austen fan.

        • Constant Reader

          Guilty as charged!

          • kimmeister

I was the “think ill” comment. I can’t read that without immediately referencing Lizzie Bennett.

            • Constant Reader

I didn’t notice it until you pointed it out. I’m pretty sure Miss Jane Austen never used the word “bitches,” though.

            • formerlyAnon

Except, possibly, to refer to female canines. But I don’t think any such appear in her novels.

          • Tatiana Luján

I read your comment with Emma Thompson’s voice in my head.

      • bitchybitchybitchy

I’m picturing a luncheon populated by Dodos and Bitsys knocking back Martinis and Gin and Tonics, their Del Toro shod feet propped up as they tell stories about their sons Cadwallader and Stony playing polo with the Duke of Windsor!

    • Lori

Yea! They’re fun and cute without being totally obnoxious.

    • Jennifer Peters-Ahnberg

Oh yes. One of each, please.

    • pookiesmom

They look like really fancy house slippers to me.

    • SuzyQuzey

      I kind of like them.

    • mdcoon127

Mildly amusing but for the money so not worth it

    • kimmeister

NAY as footwear to be worn in public.
YEA as footwear to wear around the mansion.

    • MilaXX

YES to every pair, but especially the black cat & goldfish and kitten & ball of yarn. If only I could afford them I think the paste-y ones would look cute with a sun dress in the summer and some of the others would be cute with jeans.

    • Trickytrisha

Pretty darned clever, if leaning a tad to the “eccentric rich lady” side of things. I can’t quite see anyone under 55 wearing these.

      • Imasewsure

Gotta go the exact opposite. Since these are so old lady they should only be worn by the under 30 crowd (ok under 40 if fun and quirky). Love love these (even if I am alas too old to rock these with proper irony)

    • Gener1c

Yea. Apparently I’m meant to be old money in New England.

      • Constant Reader

That’s okay. I’m sure you’d make a sweet and charming old-money New Englander. There are some. :)

        • Gener1c

Thank you, I’ll take the complement :)

    • VioletFem

YEAH! And I want them all!

    • alyce1213

Yea. Love them. If I saw someone wearing them, it would make me smile.

      • kimmeister

They’re clearly meant to be appreciated by an outside viewer, since the wearer will just see the images upside down. Also, the wearer must keep her feet very close together, or else the visual jokes won’t work.

    • kaycem

YAY YAY YAY! i’m so sad that the deep vamp makes them obviously men’s and they consequently wouldn’t look right on me, but they’re amazing nonetheless.

      • kimmeister

        I don’t think they’re for men.

    • BrooklynBomber

Why not? Some of them, anyway.

    • Imasewsure

LOVE LOVE LOVE all of these!!

    • KT

      Nay. Twee as FUCK.

    • theblondette

They are so fun! How could you look down at your feet if you wore these and not crack a smile?

    • Rand Ortega

1 of each please! Yeah, Charlotte. I’m a 5 year old. lol.

    • NurseEllen

      The left shoe says “A”
      The right shoe says “Dorable”

      Definitely YAY!!

    • Tracy_Flick

Toeing the “ugly Christmas sweater” line between cheeky and tacky, and maybe stepping a well-shod toe over it. But I can’t hate. I might even wear the ones with the poodle or the fish bones.

    • Tanya Wade

I love them so much they have improved my day beyond measure. Esp. the tortoise and the hare!

    • Synnamin

      YES. j’adore the fish bones

    • IMNAngryLiberal

To quote Faith, “See, Want, Take” (Because my budget certainly won’t allow me to BUY them.)

    • traceyishere

      These are great!

    • crash1212

IN. I love them all. Love. I love a witty shoe.

    • housefulofboys

Oh my god, I so love them all. I’ll take one in each color. I dress pretty casually/traditionally almost all of the time (get your hands off of my comfy jeans!), but I love to find funky, fun flats and sandals. These are meant for my feet, dammit, and I know I’ll never afford them. But I looooove to look at them.

    • CommentsByKatie

Oh my gosh, I NEED ALL OF THESE. I’m not sure what it says about me, but this is so my style.

    • Jacob Bowen

IN! Do they make them in Women’s 14???

    • SouthernGirlRena

IN! So cute. And because I don’t want to appear too greedy and take them all, I’ll just take the poodle, fish and fishes, and fishbowl and cat.

    • minnye

Not my kinda thing at all, but I would complement the heck out of them on someone else’s feet.

    • frannyprof

Yay!!! I want the tortoise and hare pair. So bad.

    • Danielle

    • PastryGoddess

      Ermahgerd! I want them all

    • rissa42210

      YEA! So fun!

    • demidaemon

I don’t know. I prefer symmetry in my pairs of things. These shoes just set off my dormant OCD. So NAY.

    • Myrlin

They’d be cute designs for bedroom or house slippers, but I’d find them a little too twee to wear out in public–and I live in Portlandia.

    • Mary Elizabeth Poytinger Baume

the fish bone one is to die.

    • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

YEA!!! Love them all. They’re fun and look very comfy…my two requisites for shoes!

    • MandyM

My three year old said, “Let’s buy them!”

    • OpinionatedMtnGirl

      YEA – love love love!

    • UsedtobeEP

I would like them if I could redo them in my own style. For example, instead of the single fish and school of fish, I would do a school of fish…and a shark. Instead of a balloon and more string, I would do a balloon and a cactus. Still not $325 worthy, but definitely more about who I am.

      • sweetlilvoice

Love the fishes and shark idea. Get to work! :)

    • Boobs Radley

      Cat. With. Yarn.

I don’t care if the do cost more than my rent. WANT!

      • Laura Renee

Your rent is under $340?? Where do you live?

    • Reality TV Casting

YEA! They are for ladies and gents with a sophisticated sense of irony + whimsy, should be accessorized along with a disoronno on the rocks

    • didgerdoni

    • Jessi03

      So cute!

    • LaSylphide

Yea. Whimsical, and they even look comfortable.

    • d4divine

    • amanda lynn

      I like. Yea.

    • martha

      Love the tortoise and hare!

    • Lorelski

Three hundred and forty dollars, people!!!!

    • GillianHolroyd

    • katiessh

I LOVE. or would if they were even vaguely in my price range

    • Ros

I like the idea of these. I just wish they didn’t look like slippers.

I like to encourage flats because heels in large part have become so ubiquitious, crippling and silly. But, I think Yay only to the green fish bones and the smoke-ring lady. Otherwise, Nay.

    • CT14

      Oh yea,those are fun.

      They’re about $25,right?

    • IraKi

    • Tatiana Luján

      I love them!

    • Crystal

    • Laura Renee

    • jilly_d

I normally don’t do “twee as fuck” but I’ll take a pair of the Birds and Bees, Fishies, and two pair of the Fishbones. Off to google how many organs I have to sell.

    • Kent Roby

These look like the images one might find on a plastic cushioned toilet seat from the 60’s; NAY.

    • sweetlilvoice

I love them! Maybe some affordable knockoffs will come my way.

    • CeeRich

I would so wear the green fishbone ones with some rolled up boyfriend jeans and a sweater on a dreary day. Cute.

    • conniemd

Yea. I love wearing loafers in the spring, particularly colored ones after dark boots all winter. I would so wear these.

    • ojosazules

I would never wear them, but I love them.

    • cocohall

Going forward, I expect the question “where did you stand on the Del Toro loafers?” to be the question that defines us stylistically, somewhat like the Meyers Briggs test, but for fashion. Practical: too expensive. Whimsical: Yes, all of them please! Twee Intolerant: These are for CHILDREN. And Wistful : Cute, but not for this BK. I’m a Practical/Whimsical; I like them but find that price tag a bit steep.

      • formerlyAnon

        You are on to something.

    • ThaliaMenninger

And I don’t think they’re for children. The shape of the loafer itself is all wrong for the kids. For me, they’re Old Lady in Palm Springs shoes. And they seriously remind me of my dad’s slippers when I was a kid. We called them his butler shoes. So maybe these can be worn by the servants of the insane or terminally twee.

      • bitchybitchybitchy

I must add terminally twee to my vocabulary.

    • rebeemoon

These are so fun. Imagine having a closetful and pondering which ones to wear: Am I in the mood to stay in and listen to music in my smoking jacket, or run about town while my left foot beats my right in race down Main Street?

    • Mona_Visa

Yes! Love them. I found a velvet pair on Nordstrom’s for $325 — they had a skull & crossbones on them. Maybe they’re last season’s? Not sure. Anyhoo, I really like most of these. Favs are the fishbones, the pink birds & bees, and the blue velvet fishies. Fun!

    • Jacqueline Wessel

I’d love a pair without any embellishment.

      • Erica_Vuitton

I was just thinking that I loved the colors but the embroidered images are just twee AF!

    • bitchybitchybitchy

I love that the pink pair with a swallow on the right loafer reminds me of “Monty Python and The Holy Grail”, when the enchanter attempts to trip up King Arthur with a question about the weight of a swallow, and Arthur trips up the enchanter-do you mean an African or a European swallow?

      • martha

I like that pair too. The birds and the bees

    • kategs

yay very very yay! Fun and comfy. Perfect for zipping around in jeans and tee.

    • Huntsmanfan

So in love right now. This would make picking your shoes so much fun.

    • merrigator

Stubbs & Wootten rip off. But I love them!

    • GorgeousThings

YEA!!!! I want the music, the fashionista/poodle and the fishbone. I love that shoe manufacturers are coming out with fun flats. My feet can’t take 4 inch (or higher) stilettos any more.

    • Sarah

YAY! Cute shoes = happy times

    • Heather

I think Camper already did this?

    • HM3

Yea! I’d wear ’em. But at home.

    • Sunshine16

Yea, women need more cute flats, even if they are a bit twee!

    • John Parot

Hideous. Generic imagery. Hire a better Illustrator/Artist see Miu Miu Spring 2014 for Inspiration.

    • jjtxgrrl

Yay! I’m loving pink tortoise and hare. Only cause I never wear pink and they would add a fun pop to my wardrobe and would be great w rolled up jeans.

I Linda like that they are in the shape of a mans slipper. Fun!!

    • MandyJane

Oh they look comfy and cute!

    • lesmaha

    • Suzanne Moore

The hip art on the shoes reminds me of the artist Shag’s work. I say YAY, I love them all. Santa, are you listening?

    • barbarienne

I would never be caught dead in something so twee, and I love the hell out of them. They made me smile.

    • amf0001

I love all of them. I’m so excited I’m hitting all the wrong keys! I need to have at least 2 pairs in my house. At least!!

    • Amenaneri

Total yay! I think they are clever and witty, and possibly suited for children, but whimsy can work in many situations. I’d wear them.

    • LJCdoc

    • lalahartma

Mostly hell no! There’s a couple acceptable ones though.

    • Djwilke

Nay. I think my husband’s grandmother has all of these images on her fancy Bernina embroidery machine.

    • Jenna

Pinterest has a lot to answer for.

    • p_capet

      yay. oh, so yay.

    • LambeeBaby

      Most assuredly yes!

    • WittyCism

      Oh, yay, please.

    • lilazander

Totally YEA! They’re cute and light and just delightful.

    • H2olovngrl

In or out, Puh-lease! You guys are totally trying to figure out if you can get away with wearing these yourselves!
