Tina Fey at the “Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues” NYC Premiere

Posted on December 16, 2013

Wow. Check Miss Kickass out here.

Tina Fey attends the “Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues” premiere in New York City.

A sheer top and skinny leather pants on Liz Lemon? And it actually works? Who saw that coming?

We wanted to love this coat, but the longer we look at it, the more we think that to the extent it works at all, it works because of those pants and that top. Otherwise, it comes off like office wear. It’s not a bad coat, but it’s not dramatic enough for the red carpet – or for those pants and that top, for that matter.

Hair and makeup look great, though. It’s been oddly rewarding watching her style evolution. It’s not that her worth has increased somehow now that she looks put together on the regular, but it makes for a nice topper to her success; a way of signaling just how far she’s come and how comfortable she is in her position.

I love this. LOVE. And I covet the coat. This is sleek and sexy, despite her being covered from head to toe. The lipstick is a little too bright, but otherwise I love the look.

    • tereliz

LOVE that she’s wearing a cami beneath the sheer shirt, not just relying on a bra for coverage.

  • MilaXX

I like it, coat and all. You rock on Tina!

  • gabbilevy

    Hot damn, Liz Lemon!

  • Christine Hart

makeup is personal best for tina, i think.

  • hughman

“After supper Sunday night, I’m supposed to take my daughter and her friends to that Taylor Swift concert but I forgot my coat so Grandpa lent me his. I hope I don’t lose it in one of those Mash Pits they have at these things.”

  • annabelle archer

It’s sexy, yet weirdly frumpy. Very funny mommy lady. Which she is, so…..brilliantly played?

  • Imasewsure

Needs boots to perfect this but it’s pretty awesome. Love the low key hair and makeup

    • Jackie4g

It’s been below freezing around the NY metro area. The prefect time for black suede boots, a black mink Cossack hat and gloves in an interesting bright color.

  • Her eyes are radiating softness. I’d bake so many cookies to be this woman’s mentee.

  • TrixieConQueso

The Uncles nail it again with the “Pulled Together” Analogy.

  • Tatiana Luján

    How HOT does she look?
Is it me or she looks a bit like Winona Ryder?

    • isapaiva

I scrolled down to check if anyone else spotted the Winona resemblance!

  • Sarah

Her head looks great! I wish her coat was shorter. The length just looks like when your mom made you put a winter coat on over your Sophisticated Attractive Lady Halloween costume.

  • Anathema_Device

Would love to see it without the coat. I like the coat, but I’m curious about the rest of the outfit. She does look beautiful and at ease here. Love her to death.

  • JauntyJohn

I actually like the contrast of the super hot/chic ensemble on her against the conservatism of the coat.

    She looks terrific.

  • DTLAFamilies

I’ve seen her in person and she’s extraordinarily pretty, so I find it interesting that until very recently her looks in photos did not reflect reality.

  • Evan

Most improved how many years running? Has she broken the record yet? Go Tina!

  • Ragnarockette

Love the look. Her confidence and ease are what is selling it.

  • Only thing I hate is the silly length on the coat sleeves. I know its a “thing” just now, but it bugs me no end.

    • alyce1213

Is it really a thing? Ew. I didn’t like the trend of too-long sweater sleeves either. Great little coat, though.

      • conniemd

I remember the fad where sweater sleeves covered the wrists and were halfway up the back of the hand. Didn’t get that fad at all. I pictured myself dragging my sweater into my plate when I ate.

    • twocee

As someone who has short arms I just assumed the coat was too big. I am appalled that this is actually a “style.”

    • Heather

I’m always glad to have longer sleeves because I have monkey arms, but I agree, if that is not the case, one should get things hemmed. Same with too-long pants and skirts. (Tailors, people! They’re still a thing!)

    • marlie

I don’t mind the length. Also, I can never find coats (or sweaters, or blouses) with sleeves long enough for me, so it looks like this one would fit me perfectly. 🙂

  • Mismarker

People always tell me I look like Tina Fey and for the longest time I wasn’t sure if it was compliment. I can now rest easy knowing it’s a compliment. Miss Lady is looking fine. Tina needs to loan out her makeup artist to Christina Applegate.

  • kimmeister

Loving the makeup and the artfully tousled hair. The length of the sheer shirt over the leather pants is a bit off-putting to me. It’s giving a granny panty or leotard illusion.

  • housefulofboys

Hair and makeup are ahh-mazing, first thing I noticed. I would have like the shirt tucked in instead, I think. The coat is a great counterpoint to the black underneath. The only incongruous thing is her bare feet in all that black, maybe booties would have been better because, heaven knows, no one is going to wear stockings/socks/pantyhose on the red carpet anymore and those white feet pull focus.

  • cleva1

I’m always delighted to see her looking so great because I love her! The audiobook of her autobiography (Bossypants) is genius!

    • alyce1213

It got me through a couple of days of recuperation from surgery, laughing the whole time.

  • PastryGoddess

Three snaps in a circle for Miss Sassypants here

  • KinoEye

One of my spirit animals. Her head looks just spectacular. Love the coat. Love the pants. Love the top. You go on with your bad self, LL.

    • Mismarker

I love your avatar. Need to dig out my Hedwig CD…

      • KinoEye

Thanks! Hedwig is another of my spirit animals. Had tons of fun a few weeks ago with the soundtrack and more than a little beer 🙂

  • KT

This should be a WERQ! She looks fucking fabulous, and this is so bold for her — she would have never worn anything like this even a few years ago. She looks so modern, fresh and confident. Get it Tina — we love you.

  • alyce1213

I love the way she looks, and I adore the coat — maybe more for Fall than dead of winter, but I love it.

    • marlie

We can’t be picky… at least she’s not wearing a sleeveless dress with “naked” sandals. Also, it’s still technically fall for a few more days (even if it is cold as #$!* in my neck of the woods these days). 😉

      • alyce1213

It’s freezing here in NY and her feet are bare too (true, thankfully not in sandals). I wish she’d worn boots or a more covered shoe, at least I’d worry less. I like her that much.

        • marlie

We have just about the same weather in Philly. I suppose I have a fairly high tolerance for cold, AND I get that the stars aren’t dressing for waiting for the bus, so I don’t mind her feet being uncovered, or her coat not being closed (for the purposes of the step-and-repeat).

  • jilly_d

I love her so much, I’m incapable of remaining objective when I see her on the RC. Glad to know the uncles approve – I think she looks adorable.

  • CLoverleaf

I’m just happy to see a ladystar in closed toe shoes and a coat in December. You know, like a normal human would wear.

  • VictoriaDiNardo

I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE GOLDEN GLOBES!!! Tina and Amy should host everything and be done with it ( well, okay, Doogie can keep the Tony Awards..)
She looks great – love her.

  • MW

I love this. And I’m drooling over the shoes.

  • YourBaloneyDontGotNoSecondName

She is the best kind of dame to envy.

  • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

    Yay. Yay!!

  • Melanie_Bee

I adore Tina, and though I used to get a bit nervous to see what she’d show up wearing on the red carpet. I no longer feel that way, because she’s really been knocking it out of the park for a while now! The coat is the only thing I don’t love about this outfit – I love the way it contrasts with the rest of the outfit, but it’s not *quite* right, as I think it’s a bit overwhelming.

  • filmcricket

It hurts me to say I don’t like it. The gaping button, plus the strip of belly, plus the tousled hair, plus the inevitable wrinkles in the leather pants, all combine to make it look like she’s coming apart at the seams. If she’s trying to give off “JBF with a fab coat thrown over it all” then she’s succeeded. Make-up looks great, but I prefer her more polished.

  • ThaliaMenninger

I’m down with the outfit. She looks comfortable and smart. But her makeup!!! IS STUNNING!! Beautiful, Miss Tina. Really beautiful.

  • conniemd

I have a very office appropriate pair of pants in the same material as the coat. Love the coat, but better for “Good Morning America” than the red carpet.

  • Kate4queen

ooh I love that coat. 🙂 She looks awesome.

  • boldprint

GOOD GOD, LEMON. you look fantastic.

  • largishbearishAtlish

just realized she is wearing black shoes, I thought it was some kind of ugly ass horse hooves look (but the shoes blend into the ground. The coat is too long (tailoring maybe?) not loving the hands over the sleeves look. The hair and make-up is so amazing as to almost not look like Ms Fey- Wow! way to transform (remember the old horror days…keep going!)

  • demidaemon

I love every single piece of this unreservedly. You go, Miss Fey.

  • Lorelei_D

She gets extra points for being appropriately dressed for December.

  • understateddiva

My first reaction was “fierce CEO.” She is OWNING this.

  • I don’t actually love the outfit, but I adore the hair and makeup.

  • Jacqueline Wessel

I love this look and I’ll take that coat for my own self.

  • Danielle

The hair is PERFECT AND I AM IN LOVE

  • ashtangajunkie

Hell yes. That is straight-up hotness.
