Olivia Wilde in Tocca on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno

Posted on December 19, 2013

It’s funny how a person’s best style reveals itself. We learned a long time ago that certain stars who look horrible on the red carpet whenever they venture onto one sometimes look really cute and chic when they’re walking down the street or even through an airport. Sometimes a weight gain spurs on a style evolution, or a weight loss. Sometimes it’s a breakup and sometimes it’s the result of that self-satisfied aura that comes with falling in love. With Olivia, it clearly came when she got knocked up.

Olivia Wilde makes an appearance on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” in a Tocca dress paired with Casadei pumps and Jennifer Meyer earrings.

Tocca Resort 2014 Collection

We never hated her red carpet style, but we can’t say it ever truly impressed us or struck us as memorable. Maybe we’re looking at a couple of outliers, but her pregnancy style seems to be both more thoughtful and more memorable than her “normal” style.

We really loved her showing off her bump in that bold blue dress the other day, but with this outfit, she’s showing really good instincts. No pregnant lady should feel like she needs to hide her bump, but it you’re sitting down on television, you’re gonna want a dress that gives you a little room to breathe and maneuver. We find ourselves wishing this dress had more substantial straps or even sleeves, but it’s simple and pretty in a way that suits her. The pumps help dress it up a little. She looks cute and unfussy.

She’s not setting the world on fire here but she looks pretty and comfortable so I guess if that was the goal then well done but it isn’t particularly memorable or anything.

    • Sarah

I would so buy that dress! Somebody should give it to my for my birthday – which is today ;)

      • Glam Dixie

        Happy Birthday!

      • StillGary

        A very Happy Birthday Sarah!!

Happy Birthday! Hope it contains lots of treats.

Happy birthday, fellow Christmas baby! My day is tomorrow. :-) Ever get jipped on presents as a kid? “Oh, it’s for your birthday AND Christmas!”

        • marlie

My sister’s birthday is Christmas day, and she probably always got a little screwed. Now that we’re adults, it doesn’t matter as much, but it did when we were kids.

        • Sarah

As a kid, no. As an adult, yes. I have several “Birthmas” gifts waiting at home, as we speak.

          • Sarah

See, there it is. Weird Disqus mojo today.

        • Sarah

I replied, but it got eaten up I guess…anyway YES, I do get presents-shaft. As a kid, it was more for both days, because guilt I guess, but now it’s the combo. I have a few “Birth-mas” gifts at home right now. Not a big deal though, I don’t really mind. Who has money anyway?

          • KinoEye

Indeed. I could care less as an adult, but it miffed me a bit when I was a kid. Especially since all my friends had summer/spring birthdays. Oh well, I survived somehow!

      • decormaven

        Aww, happy birthday to you!

      • annabelle archer

        mmmmmmwhah!

(that is a big sloppy kiss)

      • mjude

happy birthday fellow bitter kitten. enjoy your day!

      • marlie

        Bon anniversaire!

      • Sarah

I reply to myself in the effort to reply to all of you: THANKS. I got ripped off by the drive-thru this morning, my family is being particularly nasty this holiday season, and I have to work today. But, I’m off early to go see The Hobbit, so I am looking forward to that and ignoring the other stuff. You all rock!

        • amaranth16

Hang in there! Have fun at the Hobbit and happy birthday!

        • fashion4ever

Happy birthday to you, fellow bitter kitten! I hear ya about the particularly nasty family around holiday season and about work, but I hope you can enjoy your day regardless!

          • Sarah

I can. You guys are so nice, it is certainly helping :)

        • tereliz

Happy B-day, Sarah! Enjoy your special day! Make it special even if nobody else does, lol. Have fun at the movie!

          • Sarah

Thanks! I will. Going to see the HFR 3D. Saw it the same way last time. It was so worth it, and usually I don’t even care about 3D.

        • conniemd

Happy birthday and as my first boss told me years ago about people who are being pains in the asses mucking up your life. F- them if they can’t take a joke. Don’t let others bring you down.

      • Aidan B

        Happy birthday to you!

        Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday Sarah! If only you could have been part of the group I was with last night at a Christmas Drag Queen Show, my first ever. Naughty and hilarious! Details to follow on TLounge. I’ll bet you would have loved it. Hope your holiday improves. Enjoy your movie.

Thank you so very much, friend! You are right, I would’ve loved it :) I did get a b-day card from my co-workers that has Gandalf AND Cats on it, so I’m happy! I also sent an olive branch email in an attempt to smooth things out with the fam (not my fault anybody’s fighting, but c’mon, y’all) so hopefully it will all blow over and we can remember that we love each other for the most part by next week, at least.

        • Pennymac

Jealous, Quitkat! I can’t wait to hear about it in the Lounge!

      • Violina23

Hope you had a fabulous day!

        • Sarah

I spent three hours in Middle Earth. That = heaven to me!

Happy Birthday! Hope you had a wonderful day :)!

        • Sarah

Thank you! You are sweet. I did!

    • Rhonda Shore

I love the phrase “knocked up.”

    • Anna_Cecilia

Nothing groundbreaking here, but she looks absolutely luminous. Sometimes all you need is a great black dress and to just let your happiness radiate and take care of the rest.

    • NBG

      Cute dress. She looks great.

Apropos of nothing, this happened to my daughter’s hair recently. The ends completely went blonde from swimming in a super-chlorinated pool three times a week. Is that what happened to Olivia?

      • calimon

Ha! I believe that is an intentional look, part of a recent hair trend called “ombre”.

        • NBG

Wow, I hope she didn’t pay too much for it. Ours came free with swim team practice!

    • kimmeister

I’m impressed with how obedient her hair is. Look at it, sitting down perfectly curled on her shoulder.

    • Jake

Why are “pregnancy pumps” a thing??? Isn’t it “barefoot and pregnant”?

    • marlie

It’s a summer sundress, but she’s in LA, so I’ll ignore that. It’s cute enough though. BUT… I hate the color(s) of her hair. I really don’t like how the bottom third is such a light shade of blonde. I’m really not a fan of the ombre hair trend.

      • snarkmeister

I was actually thinking that when I was pregnant, I was constantly overheated. SERIOUSLY overheated. Maybe she is too, and that’s why the spaghetti-strap dress?

    • marlie

Cute dress. It’s a sundress, but it’s LA, so I’ll give her a pass. But I really hate the ombre hair. HATE.

      • Sarah

Good it’s not just me. I typed “Thanks” earlier and it said it my comment was waiting for moderation. Weird.

        • marlie

It seems like it’s taking up to 15 minutes or so for comments to actually appear in the feed. Weird.

    • MilaXX

FYI – I had a weird Cloudfare error whne I tried to load this post.
As for Olivia here, I think it’s also the pregnancy hormones. Her hair looks fab, she’s got her glow already. Also her makeup is much simpler than usual which really suits her her much better than the fussier faces she typically sports.

      • barbarienne

I agree that the simpler face is better for her, but I can’t help feeling she looks awfully monotone in the face, and that tone is ever-so-slightly green. I feel like maybe they could have picked a better foundation.

        • somebody blonde

Perhaps she was feeling those non-glowing effects of pregnancy at the time. I hope it’s just her foundation, because that’s the color I turn when I have nausea…

      • conniemd

I much prefer the simpler make-up. She’s a beautiful woman who doesn’t need all that eye make-up she usually wears to make her eyes stand out.

    • quiltrx

It’s a cute dress, but up top it’s awfully skimpy for preggers-lady-on-Leno time.

      …for summer. :)
