Michelle Dockery in Erdem on “Good Morning America”

Posted on December 13, 2013

We do love this time of year. So much coat porn on our stars. We keep defaulting to men’s coats on male stars because that’s what’s likely to make us drool, but this one’s all for you, ladies:

“Downton Abbey” star Michelle Dockery stops by the ABC Studios to appear on “Good Morning America” in New York City in an Erdem coat.

Erdem Resort 2014 Collection

Not that we don’t drool over this one, but it’s not a covet-drool, it’s an oh-god-that’s-so-pretty one. We’d be lousy fashion bloggers if we couldn’t appreciate women’s wear as much as men’s.

Could this be any more appropriate and suited to little lady-like her? She’s really found her style. This whole look is perfection. Brava, Lady Mary.

Love the coat but the shoes!!!! I am coveting those shoes. Who knew an instep could be sexy!

  • tereliz

The pattern is so pretty, but it tends to obscure the silhouette from the front. The side view is just lovely, though. And yes, THIS is her style.

  • CMCH

Gorgeous coat. Bare legs + snow = Brrrrr.

    • Little_Olive

Who in the world banned feet coverage in the cold winter? I want a word or two with them.

  • Cathy S

I didn’t realize how much I loved coats until I started following you, lo these many years. If only I had money. Ah well, they’re good to look at anyway. Girl coats, boy coats, doesn’t matter. It’s all wonderful coat porn to me.

  • Adriana

Hmm…I want to love the pop of color under the coat just because it’s color and we don’t see enough of it, but in reality I think I would have liked a black dress better. That coat is so gorgeous it can stand alone.

    • gabbilevy

Ooh, I disagree! I love that lovely rich reddish orange.

  • That combination of bold orange dress, the light blue flowers on the coat, and white pumps is inspired. The coat on it’s own does nothing for me, though.

    • Sarah

Agreed…its a little precious for me.

    • Montavilla

I agree. I don’t like the coat on the model. Especially with the pants. It’s way too much. But it’s absolutely lovely with the orange dress, and the black purse and gloves.

  • Such a pretty coat! And I love the colour of whatever it is she has underneath.

  • Anna_Cecilia

Absolutely and completely J’Adore. It’s like feminine/floral Mondrian-esque print. Love the pop of orange underneath too and the white shoes are actually well deployed in this outfit, despite the flurries in Manhattan in December.
But when you have THAT COAT and you’re dashing from door to limo with someone holding an umbrella over you, who gives a shit about the weather.

  • altalinda

    Sorry, I’m dissenting. Shower curtains.

  • leahpapa

My mother taught me better than white pumps when it is actually snowing.

  • stellamaris73

Divine! The shock of orange underneath is perfection.

  • Heather

Oooh pretty pretty! Also, can I hire a minion to carry my umbrella for me?

Is it bad, though, that I want to put tights on her? She’s all bundled, but it makes me cold just looking at her legs.

  • sfo2kids

The best thing is that for once, she has a natural smile on her. Not the staged smiles for the red carpet. And I must digress and add that I lived in Phoenix for 5 years and am so glad to be back in San Francisco, not the least reason being I can actually wear coats in the winter!

  • Glam Dixie

That’s really pretty, reminds me a bit of my mom’s bathroom wallpaper from the 80’s but that wouldn’t stop me from buying it.

  • Kathy

This is not a coat I’d have chosen for myself, but the ensemble is beautiful.

  • kipper

WOW – has she ever looked better ??

  • Trickytrisha

Legwear is not devil spawn, Ms. Dockery. Honest. You’re not expected to freeze from your thighs to your feet all winter long. In fact, we’d appreciate some cover up for those obviously chilly legs of yours… it makes us shiver a bit along with you

PS. Your coat is outstanding, along with your face, hair, orange dress (!), gloves, bag, smile. Dunno about the shoes.

  • Josefina Madariaga Suárez

The mix of this coat and the orange dress? Whoever thought of it is a f**king genius, a more mediocre stylist would have put her on a black or a light blue dress.

  • ojosazules

It’s really pretty and suits her to a tee, but is doesn’t look very warm.

  • snarkykitten

I’m staring at her in envy, being able to walk around in snowy weather in those heels. My face resembles that of her umbrella holder right now

  • marlie

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. I LOVE this coat. The heels make me cranky, but everything else above the the ankle is perfection.

  • decormaven

Gorgeous! Wish we could see the outfit underneath!

  • Gatto Nero

It’s not my cup of tea, but this coat is perfection on her.

  • Akaleistar

    She is beautifully put together!

  • fashion4ever

This is beautiful! But are we loving the anchorwoman hair on her?

  • MilaXX

Very pretty. I’m not a floral print type of gal, but I’d wear this.

  • conniemd

She’s been in some other Erdem, hasn’t she? The look seems to suit her a lot. Their clothes strike me as colorful and not fussy, but could go dowdy if not done just right or badly accessorized.

  • formerlyAnon

I don’t covet this, because I wouldn’t be caught dead trying it on in the shop, let alone wearing it, but it is PERFECT for her. Captures that slightly old fashioned English beauty vibe she does so well.

  • traceyishere

    Needs boots.

  • Yolanda13

Love the coat, the pop of the orange dress. Looks a little springtime to me, but I love it all the same. Well done Lady Mary!

  • Anplica Fiore

LOVE that orange under the coat. Perfection!

  • Pennymac

The coat is so pretty, and such a divine combo with that orange dress underneath; I almost don’t mind the stupid white shoes. Almost.

  • nannypoo

I absolutely love this. She looks fabulous in it.

  • KinoEye

Were it not for the shoes, I’d call this one a WERQ. Love the last shot of her smiling through the snow.

  • Cuvver yer leggs, hunnee! Sheesh. And maybe some awesome boots. I love the coat, but I’m shivering just looking the silly bareness of her limbs. It’s winter.

  • Tom Shea

    She looks absolutely radiant.

  • I think i’d rather own most of the men’s coats than this one (but I guess lady-like doesn’t really feel very me). I don’t suit long coats, though, or they don’t suit me, so it doesn’t much matter either way.

  • jilly_d

The coat is great on its own, but with that little peek of orange at the bottom it’s perfection.

  • lesmaha

  • HM3

So ENGLISH of her! Love. <3

  • kimmeister

Enh, doesn’t do anything for me. It looks a little off when belted.

  • Milos Mom

I am living for this look. Just wish she had popped that collar. I am a collar popper!!!!!

  • YoungSally

Was this today — bc I did not see any snow this morning…or is it special GMA snow.

  • bellafigura1

This coat is spectacular with the stove pipe pants, as shown. It is meh with this orange thing underneath.

    • GillianHolroyd

oh god, I love it with the matching pants.

also an inch of skirt hem peeking out, even if it is a fabulous orange, looks unkempt.

  • siriuslover

I love the coat and I love how she looks in it. But, what good is a coat if you’re going out in the snow with no pantyhose / tights and the cold, cold air is going to waft up and freeze you anyway? (spoken by a woman who lives in Southern California and who rarely wears dresses for this reason!)

  • tinyredlocks

Yes, Brav,a Lady Mary, but for me, not so much coat porn, but SHOE PORN!! The pointy toe flats on the model on the left… Lust. Want. Need. Drool….

  • sunflower

Super cute! I see coat porn as gender neutral. I’ve been doing a lot of my Christmas shopping online and I find myself constantly jealous of the coats and sweaters in the mens section. I even bought a mens sweater on sale to wear oversized with leggings and boots

  • Erdem gets me. I love the peek of brilliant orange dress against the subdued palette of the coat. Betty Draper’s new living room in the best way.

  • SugarSnap108

It’s pretty, but looks like a spring raincoat, and not so much 30-degrees-in-NYC.

    • pookiesmom

      My thoughts exactly.

  • Funkykatt

How about a whole day dedicated to coat porn!!! Pls add some that are not belted for us tall girls who don’t like the belt directly under our breasts. Who doesn’t love coats! Even those of us in CA who rarely get to wear coats fawn over them.

  • Kelly

She looks great — for April. Bare legs, floral raincoat, white shoes: none of that says “northern-hemisphere December” to me.

I love the cut and shape of the coat, but I don’t love the orange combined with beige and muted pastels. Contrasting pop of color — good idea. Just not *that* color with *those* colors.

  • Aidan B

Oh, yes. More of this, please. I want that whole outfit!

  • quiltrx

Awfully Spring-y (and it’s from a Resort collection???) for a snow day, but it’s so cute I’ll forgive her.
I bet Cathy Cambridge is seething that she didn’t grab this one first.
(and I am full of WANT for the models’ shoes!)

  • MannahattaMamma

plus she looks properly embarrassed that she’s not carrying her own umbrella.

  • RuthGo

And I don’t own this coat why?

  • LondonMarriott

AH. MAHGAH. So pretty! I kind of wish the orange was the lining and not her outfit, but then I’m a little weird.

  • sagecreek

Lovely! My only quibble is with those white shoes. WHY DEAR LORD WHY?

  • Mona_Visa

Love! And look at the little details on the wrists, and how she’s wearing the black gloves to match, omg, I adore. I really want to have tea with her.

  • Fuchaforever

Love the coat but the hair makes her look like a news anchor :/

  • White pumps in the snow. LOVE! And please send one coat to me, at…well you know the address.
