Margot Robbie in Armani Privè at “The Wolf Of Wall Street” New York Premiere

Posted on December 18, 2013

The celeb-style pickins are slim today, which is to be expected at this time of year. They’re all heading into their little hidey-holes to cleanse in preparation for awards season. Still, the poledance never stops for some, and if there’s one thing we appreciate in the world of red carpetry, it’s when someone far from the A-list takes an opportunity to grab the spotlight on the red carpet and work it for all its worth. There’s a line from our book that sums up why:

“A-listers teach us to glide through a room like we own it, but the advice imparted by B- to D-listers is more along the lines of ‘Chin up, tits out, bitches. Sell that shit like you’re behind the counter at Tiffany.”

We’d say Miss Margot nailed it.

Margot Robbie attends the premiere of “The Wolf Of Wall Street” in New York City in an Armani Privè dress paired with Jacob & Co. jewelry.

Serving serious glam face. We kinda wish the hair had a little more oomph to it, but we appreciate that she’s not sporting extensions or some sort of goofy/trendy braid. The dress is shaped just a little oddly, but we have to give her major props for knowing how to pose in it. The cocked hip and 3/4-turned torso are exactly the moves to set it off in pictures. Major “ATTAGIRL” on this one. She knows what she’s doing.

I love the spider earring with the pearl abdomen, tying together the whole ‘black widow’ theme.

      • VioletFem

Good catch! Those details make me appreciate this outfit so much more.

        • Jacob Bowen

          LOVEEE your prof. pic!

      • SportifLateBoomer

        WANT WANT WANT that spider!

        • Coleen

Me too! Those earrings are killer.

    • Patrick Cleary

      THIS is posing!

Some angles that dress looks fierce as shit. Others not so much. But props, Gurl. You done good.

    • conniemd

wow. Spider earrings. Totally cool. The black inset at the waist seems awkward, but she is flaunting it.

      • penguinmom

Naw, had to have the black inset. I can see someone like Miley wearing this without the inset and it would look slutty beyond belief.

        • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

Agreed – the black is my favourite bit.

    • annabelle archer

Aside from the hair looking a little sloppy from behind, this is all really quite well done. I love her smokey eye, shiny lip. And who doesn’t love diamond and pearl spider earrings? Hopefully there was someone there who took note of this thoughtful ambition.

      • MoHub

I’d love to see her hair replicate classic Veronica Lake.

        • Frank_821

          that would be pretty faboo

    • jilly_d

Can we all just take a minute and rejoice in the fact that this is a gown with a metallic side panel, not a side cutout or illusion netting clusterfuck?

      • bellafigura1

I thought it was leather, which is great too.

    • StillGary

what has she been in? Really like the simple hair — and her eyebrows are masterful!

      • MW

I only know her from Pan Am.

      • cocohall

She has been linked to Will Smith for some chummy photos taken of the two of them. Victim of celebrity culture, or clever PR? Time will tell. Beautiful girl who knows how to pose in an “iffy” dress. And could I borrow her cheekbones for just a few hours? I need to take a family holiday photo.

        • flamingoNW

She stars in Wolf of Wall Street and she’s pretty damn good.

        • another_laura

          Ditto on the cheekbones. *sigh*

    • Jessica Freeman

She did it all right since the interwebs is a-buzz with these photos. Well done.

    • PastryGoddess

OMG a ladystar is wearing jewelry. It’s a Christmas miracle!

She really does look good here and she must be so happy that the A-list stars have all gone away to let her shine

    • MW

This is all working, my only concern is that she’s 23 and her make up says more like 38.

      • Jacob Bowen

Wow. You are SO right, the makeup makes her look SO OLD. With this age difference maybe I could be 15 again…she looks WAY too old for 23.

    • marlie

No idea who this chick is, but she looks pretty fab. Attagirl!

    • KinoEye

Hot to trot. Great jewelry. Can’t wait for this movie, and on the strength of these photos alone, she looks like she definitely belongs in it.

    • alyce1213

She’s working that dress like nobody’s business. I love her smoky eye in brown — as opposed to black, good for blondes — and the subtle lip color. Attagirl.

    • bellafigura1

The bulky one-shoulder and weirdly flat bodice are ruining what could have been a fantastic dress.

    • Janet B

Margot has just earned an A+ in RC posing, many an A-lister could learn from her.

      Love/Hate the spider earrings

    • sagecreek

Sexy but not trashy. I approve. And I need those earrings.

    • Anna_Cecilia

Sometimes pure attitude can sell a “meh” dress. And a bodacious behind.

    • Kathy

She looks like a Bond girl who was discovered on Le Chiffre’s yacht. In a tussle, her gown was torn, revealing a wet suit, the rest of which is hidden in her shoulder pad.

    • Anna Vasquez

I kind of appreciate hair that says, “I fucked in the limo.” Go ‘head, Girl.

    • SugarSnap108

Love her makeup – and she’s definitely showing what saleswoman-ship can do. Because the dress is really kind of odd. I like it from the front, but in those side and back shots she looks like she’s wearing bike shorts under a so-so draped sheet.

    • Mona_Visa

She is definitely giving lessons in How to Serve. She looks so confident I wonder who she just shagged.

    • MilaXX

She also gets points for somehow making a white gown read “holiday party”. I don’t know her but well played Margot, well played.

    • tereliz

Black widow earrings! The perfect finishing touch for such a smoky-eyed, classic femme fatale look. Snaps, Miss Margot!

    • TLJezebel

      Are those spider earrings?

      • TLJezebel

I guess I should have scrolled down first.

      • kimmeister

Everyone seems to love them, but I find them a little disturbing. Not a fan of spiders in general though.

    • Dagney

The makeup is making me swoon! I like the hair. I am a little extension weary lately….seems like everyone suddenly has reams and reams of hair. She gets major points for making “sexy vamp” look super classy and….gosh, almost natural.

    • decormaven

Work it! Her bits in the preview look good; wondering how the film will play. Its release has been pushed/pulled so much, it makes me wonder if it may have some problems.

    • Sunraya

She is beautiful, but that dress is horrid. I cannot even make sense of it??

    • Diego!

GORGEOUS! She is shutting it down! Bravo girl! Finally some glam on the red carpet! You look fierce!

    • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

      Well done.

    • msdamselfly

on fire from the neck down

    • Nicole Little

Whoever she is, she’s freaking GORGEOUS

    • boweryboy

The hair is terrible, but that last photo is all kinds of Andy Warhol/Studio 54 fab.

    • Jacob Bowen

COME ON GIRL! You are SO close, some Alaska Thunderf&#k hair would have come in handy for this dress cause you are serving ALMOST full drag here!
