Kristen Wiig in Theyskens’ Theory on David Letterman

Posted on December 20, 2013

We’ve been ragging on poor Miss Kristen quite a bit lately, so let us be purely positive for this post.

Kristen Wiig at The Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City for an appearance on the “Late Show With David Letterman” to promote her new movie “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty” in a Theyskens’ Theory top paired with a Balenciaga jacket, Alexander Wang shorts, Roger Vivier shoes, a Chanel bag, and Jennifer Meyer jewelry.

While we may have quibbles with a lot of her style choices lately (including this one), we can’t help but be impressed by how much sass her wardrobe has lately. “Sass” is not a word we’d have used to describe her style at all until very recently. Do we love everything about this look? No, not even close. But it’s memorable and it has personality and she doesn’t look like she dressed up because she absolutely had to and she’d rather die than go out in public looking like this. That’s a huge improvement for her. She almost gives the impression that – Dare we say it? – she’s enjoying getting dressed up.

You two are full of Holiday Cheer and generous in spirit. She looks like shit. Fa-la-la-la-la.

      • michael tanner

        I love you

      • demidaemon

        Hehehehehehehe.

      • Betsy

Agreed. I think TLo have been adding a teeeensy bit too much brandy to their eggnog today, to have given this atrocity a passing grade!!

        • http://www.snoskred.org/ Snoskred

I can’t believe how terrible that make up is.. must be some *highly alcoholic* eggnog in the TLo household!

I mean seriously, it looks like she is wearing Michael Jacksons nose prosthetic, and the clown makeup is purely there to try to distract us from that fact. It is absolutely bizarre, if you click on the Kristen Wiig tag and look back at all the previous posts TLo have done, in NONE of them does she have a bulb sprouting at the end of her nose like she does in this photo.

I can’t understand how this has happened, have they put blusher across the bridge of her nose? Is it the angle of the photo? Were the makeup team going for the Rudolf the red nosed reindeer look?

Girl that is not your face, literally. This looks nothing like the regular Kristen Wiig. I have an enormous sad that this was done to you. :( Whoever did this to you.. should be never allowed near makeup again.

I can’t even with the outfit because who can notice it with that alien non Kristen face above it?

          • H2olovngrl

AMEN about that make up!!! I grimaced when I saw it. I couldn’t help it.

            • judybrowni

I can’t believe that horrific orangey eyeshadow and blush has returned like a zombie from the grave of the 90s (or is it the 80s?)

It gives me a cold chill, fie on the makeup artists who are reviving this horror.

        • DebbieLovesShoes

I read your post, in my mind, in the voice of Mrs. Doubtfire!

          • Betsy

Zackly what I was aiming for! So glad you noticed!!

      • UsedtobeEP

Oh, Annabelle, there is no not telling the truth for you. I think her proportions are wrong. And a Happy New Year.

      • H2olovngrl

Seriously, ON FIRE. I snorted. Again.

    • ashtangajunkie

What’s this hairstyle about? I can’t figure it out – it’s straight, it’s wavy, it’s short, it’s long, it’s it’s brown. I feel like hair shouldn’t be so confusing. Great gams though.

      • alyce1213

Looks like she just recently got a trim — but passed on the blowout.

    • YousmelllikeAnnaWintour

I think she got dressed in the dark.

    • MilaXX

I think she looks cute here. I wish she was wearing a different shoe, but this is okay.

      • mjude

agree. what is with those shoes?

    • msdamselfly

I have heard her say that she really enjoys fashion. She is a visual artist as well as an actress.

      • alyce1213

        Could’ve fooled me.

    • Morales Mike

      21st Century “That Girl”.

      • MikeW_Vegas

        With apologies to Marlo Thomas

    • schadenfreudelicious

I love her, but that hair colour needs to go, and that skirt is sporting a pattern that looks exactly like my salt stained winter boots at the moment…

      • Sarah

Yes to salt stains, but I’m afraid those are shorts. Highly reflective, iridescent shorts. Yikes.

        • schadenfreudelicious

Good gawd you’re right, salt stained shiny shorts (say that fast 10 times :)

    • Jacqueline Wessel

Only men wear shorts in December in New York as far as I’ve seen. Are those highlights on the shorts because they’re really shiny or is that some kind of pattern? She does have great legs though.

    • Sarah

Outfit is okay, hair is not, makeup is strange. And I imagine it is highly difficult to pair any shoe with luminously iridescent shorts, I definitely don’t think it was these that were called for.

      • Glam Dixie

Her makeup is 100% Elf on a Shelf

    • XPT

Her face is like that character “just kidding just kidding just kidding…”

    • boweryboy

But shorts in winter in NYC….

      • MasterandServant

It was 70 degrees here this weekend!

        • boweryboy

Wow. You guys must be having some sort of heat wave on the East coast. Last weekend I talked to my Dad who lives in South Carolina and he said it was around 75 degrees!

    • Glam Dixie

Love the outfit, actually but that hair and the shiny face are so bad.

    • largishbearishAtlish

      er,,,, she has nice thumbs.

    • cmb92191

hair and makeup looks very orange. I do like the jacket but not with those bottoms.

    • Tracy_Flick

That makeup is extremely Mrs. Roper. Can’t see past it.

      • marlie

Her makeup is AWFUL, but I wonder if it’s the lighting, because her haircolor *and* makeup look really off in these pictures.

    • Jacob Bowen

The strained smiles in the first and second pictures make me even more uncomfortable for her.

    • Karen Belgrad

Her skirt looks like the salt stains on my shoes

    • Trickytrisha

There’s a credit for the top, jacket, shorts, bag, shoes, jewelry. Where’s the credit for her spray tan?

Despite the orange legs, she’s looking put together, but that is one weird facial expression.

    • crash1212

I really like this outfit and I like it on her. The shoes are KILLER and I want them NOW!

    • GillianHolroyd

When my hair looked like that, my hairdresser said it looked like there was a dead animal on my head.

      Love the jacket.

    • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

Her hair is sad, but that outfit is wonderful on her and she enjoys being in it. Attagirl.

    • conniemd

I like the jacket. Is she wearing shorts or a very short skirt?

    • dschubba

I don’t care for the shoes or the PS-highlighting makeup. :/

    • GorgeousThings

First I was going to say, “Needle scratch!”
Then I realized that this is just a really bad picture of her. It’s like the pap only had an old iPhone with that horrible flash.
      But still, Needle Scratch!

    • marlie

That jacket MIGHT have worked with a whole different outfit. But with these shorts? In NYC in December? I don’t think so. And I like the shoes, but they don’t “go” to me – even though they’re grey.

    • cocohall

Maybe shorts in December in NYC is a strategy? You exit your car and make the dash indoors, waving madly at the paps, and the shock of the cold invigorates you before you go on and spar with Dave. Like jumping in the snow after a sauna. I like the jacket, but she looks a bit too much like Target Lady otherwise. It cannot be easy to create a glamourous persona when all the other personas you have created are done for laughs. How do you not go over the top? Because comedians would ALWAYS rather get the laugh than a fashion thumbs up. Laughter is their oxygen.

      • Gatto Nero

I can’t get behind shorts for a TV appearance for anyone older than 10. I just don’t get this on a grown woman as a serious style choice.

    • Lilyana_F

The outfit I can get behind, but that make-up… just no.

    • aquamarine17

i don’t think that red lipstick is her friend at the moment. she has such good features for a great makeup job. less would be more for her, rather than this application of makeup. have seen beautiful pictures of her with long hair. i think it works on her better. also maybe not red like that. she has nice legs to show off and should get some fab shoes

    • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

she is possibly the least photogenic actor ever. re: her nose, it’s a danish nose. runs in our family.

    • ShaoLinKitten

What is up with her hair? She is a celebrity, so I know she can get a better stylist than whoever did that to her.

    • mickiemonkey

It is yet ANOTHER cry for help.

    • Sally Spannagle

I hate to rag on a woman for aging naturally, but I think her makeup and hair choices do not highlight her features in a way to make her appear youthful.

    • OmegaMu

I love the Roger Vivier shoes and tried to look them up, but never found them because he has the WORLD’S MOST ANNOYING website!

    • ccinnc

I saw “Bridesmaids” for the first time the other night. I had no idea this was the same person. The hair and makeup here make her look like my 60+ year old neighbor, who is beautiful for 60+, but still.

      • judybrowni

Please don’t tell me that orangey eyeshadow (from the ’80s or 90s?) is back.

With orangey blush and hair, feh.

    • http://www.erptraining9.com/ SAP Training

She looks too old for those shorts.
Alexander Wang will have a headache for this quibble.
Or he will stop designing one of those shorts.
The shoes by Roger Vivier what a matching color.
      She is really looking 60+

    • lIllllllllol

It doesn’t matter how much the big houses and stores give her, she makes everything she wears look like it cost fifty bucks. It’s because she doesn’t believe in her image and that means she doesn’t believe in the clothes.
