Hair, no. Makeup, yes. Earrings….ehhh. Everything else is a big, fat yes!

  • ‘Becca’lise Deveaux

Don’t love the hair or the mullet hem.

    • Tatiana Luján

I don’t like the mullet hem, but really hate the hair.I can’t even begin to imagine the headache given by that too tight tacky arrangement.

  • tereliz

She’s the most popular companion on Delta Vega Seven.

    • NMMagpie

    • LondonMarriott

      BAHAHA! I heart you.

  • HomeOfficeGirl

Wow – that is a complicated look. I think the top knot is OK, but not the braid. That’s just weird.
Wish the dress was a gown. I love the sleeve cut-out detail but the hem here is really odd and distracting.

    • cocohall

Yup, yup, and yup. It is simply greedy to have a fishtail braid and a top knot and a mullet hem and embroidery all in one look. Space things out dearie.

  • Lori

Everything about this is weird and too much and yet, except for the braid, she’s sort of making it work for her. I don’t like it, but I’m not mad at it and I feel like objectively I probably should be.

  • kimmeister

The whimsical tattoo on her inner ankle is actually kind of cute!

  • hughman

    The Bling And I.

    • Calinda_L

For the record, I wish I could like this about 10 more times than Discus allows. Well done.

    • decormaven

“While shivering in my shoes, I strike a careless pose, And whistle a happy tune…”

  • Evan

Her head looks way too severe with her hair pulled back. And just say no to mullet skirts. That should be a PSA.

    • anneland

Hate the look every time she pulls the hair up tight. She is so beautiful when it’s down. Up just doesn’t suit her in my book.

      • Tatiana Luján

a looser hairdo would do. Why does it have to seem like she is going to have her scalp removed?

  • Rebecca Harvey

Such a lovely fabric, such a weird dress. . .

  • ThaliaMenninger

    Katy Perry Ice Skatrix

  • Janet B

Hate the hem, the rest is fab.

  • another_laura

Festive! I love it except for the tail on the dress.

  • Calinda_L

Maybe it’s because I’m pretty entrenched in anti-Gagaism at the moment (seriously — she tries my damn nerves), but I’m digging this. Don’t love the hair or the mullet hem or the split shoulders or the fact that the front hem looks very much like it was flipped under and temporarily hemmed with a piece of duct tape on the inside (oh dear, that’s most of the outfit, isn’t it?), but she’s pulling it off a hell of a lot better than most others would.

    • formerlyAnon

I credit the fabric for the fact that I love this dress despite its several issues.

  • madge

her pony looks a leeeeetle too tight. like it hurts!

  • teensmom99

Honestly, I love every bit of this: because KP can get away with costumey ridiculous. Fab.

  • Let it out

I love everything about this, because it screams Katy Perry in terms of the whimsy, but in a somehow more grown-up way than many of her previous looks. You can nitpick it, but as a whole, it’s striking and fun!

  • LadyCelia

Why on earth did they torture that poor hem so? So badly shortened and mis-shaped.

  • LCTerrill

    OPULENCE. I haz it.

  • ballerinawithagun

Fabulous fabric! Why is there a seam at the waist? Is it actually a top and skirt? It may be just a little too tight, it looks like it is trying to ride up. I like mullet hems, but this is just wrong! Definitely was not hemmed correctly. Katy should have a lower square neckline instead of the boat, it would have been much more flattering.

  • Laura Renee

She’s having fun this holiday season, isn’t she?

  • SorayaS

Hate the plait AND the topknot, dislike the makeup- she normally looks completely stunning but these colours don’t seem very flattering on her (or maybe it all comes back to the hair). I quite like the earrings but they are so wrong for this dress- brocade is heavy-looking enough without weighing yourself down with 3 pound earrings. Would love to seem them with a sleek red dress.

    Fun shoes though!!

  • Suzanne Moore

Her hair makes MY head hurt. I can’t imagine how she stands it. Sacrificing for fashion, I guess. Does the front of her hem look pinned? On the positive side, those earrings would look super with one of my belly dance costumes!

    • marlie

The more I look at it, I do think they hemmed the skirt. With the way the skirt was shaped, I think it was unnecessary, especially since it doesn’t seem like they took it up more than an inch or so.

      • conniemd

I don’t think the skirt is hemmed. If you match the pattern with the model, the hem is exactly at the same place in the print on both. Not sure why Katy’s version looks like an unpressed hem. If you really look at the model picture close I think it has the same exact mullet in the back, it just is less visible in motion.

        • marlie

maybe. I though the pattern was off by just a skosh, but that’s also why I thought it didn’t need to be shortened because it seems like so little was taken up. Maybe it was none at all. 😛

    • Or as the focal for a bra.

  • MitchellGilburne

Had she only gone floor length and worn this to the Hobbit premiere…

  • marlie

I love this dress on her. It’s a smidge too tight, but it looks fabulous on her. I really like Fashion Katy, where she (with her quirky persona) can wear things that wouldn’t work on most ladystars, and make them sing. I like the earrings too, but I can’t get on board with the hair.

    • conniemd

Me too. Katy was really won me over this year with her fashion choices and her ability to war them

      • marlie

And if Lady Gaga is going to disappoint us on the crazy fashion front, Katy is the best person to take up the mantle.

  • LeelaST

Where can I buy one of these dolls? (Could someone loan her gays a steam iron and get that hem in order?)

  • alyce1213

Tuptim! This is really pretty gorgeous.

  • Anne

Her face is stunning, but the dress kind of looks like really fancy upholstery.

  • Glam Dixie

Aside from the extremely synthetic looking hair, I’m kind of digging this.

  • HM3

It’s intriguing how well the old-world “Oriental” style (and I mean that in the most outdated, yet non-offensive manner possible. Sorry, sorry, sorry) works for her. I see her implementing East Asian patterns, textiles and styles all the time, and I’m always amazed at how striking she looks in them.

  • MilaXX

I like everything but whatever is on her top know.

  • I just love the Riverdance postures.

  • Trickytrisha

She’s pretty glorious here. Some nits to pick but overall it’s a stunning look. Do NOT care for the dress’s droopy lining of the back part of the mullet. The textile is quite lovely as is Ms Katy herself.

  • Carla_Charlton

Jeez louise — can’t these people have clothes altered so that the hem doesn’t look like it was basted up ten minutes before dressing?!? And the dress is too tight. And the mullet style is tacky. Bah humbug!

  • DeniseSchipani

    Ouch, ponytail headache!

  • GillianHolroyd

I love the concept of this look, hair, earrings, everything but oh, I wish the dress was in a bright jewel tone (and better proportioned–see side view)

  • demidaemon

    Beautiful. I have no quibbles.

  • Dennis

To quote Karen Walker, ” Hey! Princess Jasmine! Showtime!”

  • sienna elm

I love this dress!! And the earrings. I just wish she didn’t go so cartooney with the makeup.

  • Jacob Bowen

“No is Okay” Ms. Perry. You didn’t need the badly executed mullet hem, AWFUL hair style, sleeves that are too long, AND the lip color that matches your earring.

  • Erica

Her hair is giving ME a headache. Ouch.

  • PeaceBang

She’s like the sexy daughter of the King of Siam in a new, updated version of “The King and I.” ‘Tis a puzzlement, that hair.

  • nannypoo

I love it. I bet her hair hurts.

  • quiltrx

Wow, that’s a pretty excellent dress. The mullet was not needed, or could have been less extreme (a slight lowering in the back might have worked, sort of echoing the sleeves. That hair hurts my brain, though

  • Imasewsure

Actually I don’t like those awesome earrings with this but the rest is working for me (but only for Katy – can’t imagine liking this on anyone else)

  • ThesisMonkey

fun. I don’t love the dress tail.

  • Steam the hem and fix the hair. That dress is TO DIE.

  • BrianaJC

The back of that dress looks like an unsnapped onesie.

  • Diego!

  • Well, that’s very…..regal….

  • sweetlilvoice

Russian princess and that’s a compliment! Love it.

  • H2olovngrl

Miss Perry clearly understands how to dress for the holidays. She looks like a Christmas Barbie tree ornament. And I mean that in a good way!

  • Kent Roby

It’s Katy Perry, which means that she’s basically in costume, so I think everything here works (but not for anyone else).

  • crash1212

I think she knocked it out of the park with this look. This is a WERQ for me. Sometimes I forget just how beautiful Miss Katy is….although that hairstyle is giving me a headache. Stars…they can wear exceedingly tight hair and suffer no consequences…not like us at all.

  • oatmealpie

    I need your shoes!

  • Jacqueline Wessel

She looks pretty spectacular, but those shoulder openings kinda look like the dress is falling apart. And if you’re going to have a mullet hem, the lining shouldn’t be so obvious.

  • formerlyAnon

Damn I LOVE that dress so much the pointless rear mullet doesn’t even register. Her makeup is making her look tired, or failing to disguise exhaustion. The OTT earrings aren’t perfect but work. I don’t love the shoes, but I won’t quibble.

  • oohsparkley!

I love it all except the slightly messy hem.
